Does your Cat (or any pet) misbehave since caregiving your loved one?
Have you been required to take care of your loved one's pet after they have passed? Does your pet have cute antics that entertain your loved one?
And finally, has the cat or dog transferred their loyalty to your Mother?
my old cat,Savvy, ate potato chips and would lick the cream inside Oreos.
Cats are funny~
My one cat just loves bread. Now I let him eat my crumbs after I've had a sandwich etc.
Only problem is, now she chases them under the living room carpet, pushes them so far under she cannot reach them. And unfortunately, neither can I! I'm not too steady (at 80 yrs. old), but managed to get them out with a broom stick. Then...major and exhausting project for me, secured the carpet with double-sided tape all around the edges.
Felt really proud of myself, until I walked across the newly taped- down carpet and found underneath, beyond either cat or human reach, I swear, a mouse-sized lump! (not really a mouse, I'm sure). Don't know what it is, but I'll bet I know who put it there...and it wasn't me! (only 2 residents in this apartment, cat and me. Cat looks at me with a typical not-my-problem look). Now am waiting for the maintenance man here to come help.
One time I was putting my groceries away. The empty paper bag was sitting on the floor on its side.
My cat crawled inside, turned around and it was like her own little tent.
It was the cutest thing. After that, I saved bags for her to hang out in.
Aren’t they funny?
Favorite places for my cat:
Paper bags
Window Sill
My sofa
The bed
The patio
The staircase
Standing at my feet while cooking hoping that I would drop something!
My lap!
What about your cat? Favorite spots?
They both looove boxes 💓💓📦📦📦 💓💓. I made them a cat condo out of cardboard bxes,
My last dog Matt once fast dialed my dd in another city. I picked the phone up off the floor and heard her say "Hello". 🐶
Maybe Pumpkin had to make a call. My mother's old cat Bumper was always knocking the phone down to play with it. My dad who had a great sense of humor, told Bumper that he could use the phone just not any long distance calls. LOL!😸
FF,
Isn't it just like a cat to make us put a toy together just for them to want to play with the box. Aren't you glad you did all that work?!
My sig-other's old cat Sam was always bored. I found a ball that you fill with treats and as Sam rolls the ball a treat would fall out and man did that ball kept Sam busy for hours. He would roll that ball around until he got every last treat out of it, and he never let any of the other cats play with it until he was done, by then there was no point for the other cats to play with it!! Sam wasn't much for sharing!😾
Oh dear, I thought the box would come already assembled. No "some assembly required". Everything needed assembly. I had always pride myself on figuring out how to put together a box, such as banker boxes. This box was so complex, I wanted to scream. Instructions were haphazard. I could tell a process-writer wasn't part of writing the instruction.
Finally got the box together, dropped in some treats. The cat investigated but decided the Chewy box was more interesting =^..^=
Rocky is so well behaved. She wouldn't think of knocking things down. 🐱🐱
Shadow does like water! Oop! Darn smartphones!!!
That is so funny the we have the same kind of cat. I named mine Shadow because she kind of moves through the house like a shadow...here one minute and gone the next. My Shadow doesn't seem to like water as well. I wonder if it's a Main-coon thing?! Does your cat bit? Mine does if you try to pet her and she doesn't know you.
Remember Elsa? Born Free movie. I saw that as a kid.
All of the big cats are beautiful, tigers, lions, leopards, cheetahs, panthers, etc.
They respond to the can opener or the crinkling of the cat food bag! They are smart!
Plus, my cat responded to “Here kitty, kitty, kitty.”
I love the name Shadow.
Was she a cat or a kitten when you got her?
Does she play with toys? My cat loved balls of yarn that I made for her. I bought a couple of toys for her too.
She was super playful until shortly before she died at age 16.
Love the bird called "Puppy" and the cat named "Birdie". Do you call, "Here, Birdie, Birdie" for the cat? Wonder what the neighbors think!
Dogs know their names. Don't know if cats ever do...or they just ignore you (unless you have food). Mine always respond just to "kitty".
Shell- I have a Maine Coon also named Shadow! Got her from the Humane Society. They did surgery for her dislocated hip (cause unknown), but her mostly amputated tail can't be fixed.I named her Shadow because of her color and fact that she follows me everywhere. No snow here (S. Texas), but she seems to like water and has the paddle-like paws!
Solid black and solid white?
Those are cute names.
My neighbor had a cat that had four black paws and she called him Boots. She had another one with all white paws that she called Socks.
It really is fun hearing the names.
Kids names now are very interesting! Can’t tell if they are boys or girls these days. They go either way. I know girls named, Taylor, Jordan and Tyler, which are also boy names.
I remember the caretaker of my bldg. at the time would come over and call them Black and White. Then he'd say "like the whiskey" and he would laugh. He was an alcoholic. :P
My friend named her chihuahua, Chiquita. That’s cute too!
Funny!
Oh, yes. Teletubbies was weird! 😂
I love The Raven. Read it every Halloween! I like Poe.
Pam,
The 40’s were different.
He would be arrested and it would be on YouTube and Facebook now!
NHWM, it is fun to hear all the different names people call their pets. I had a cat name 'Poe' after Edgar Allen Poe. She hated when I called her by her full name--in short we called her ' Poe Poe.' I hated the fact that people thought she got her name from the 'Telly Tubbies.' Ugh!!!
Another friend that has two cats named them, Buttons and Bows. I think that is cute too.
I love hearing names.
One time my daddy was calling for our dog when he got out.
It was really early in the morning. The newspaper guy was delivering his papers.
My daddy said, “Henry!” My dog was hard headed and wouldn’t come when called. So daddy screamed loudly, “Henry, get your a** back here!”
The paperboy walked near to our porch and told my dad, “That is a horrible way to speak to your paperboy.”
My daddy told him, “I wasn’t speaking to you. I was yelling for my d*mn dog!” LOL.
We laughed about the paperboy’s name being Henry.
'Extra' for a name of a cat- that is funny! I read a book once were the character (a woman) had two cats name 'had I', 'but known' & it took me a few pages to realize that was their names. It was a very good book, but can't remember the title.
Send,
Yes, I named my cat Birdie because she sounds more like a bird than a cat. 🐦😸
I am allergic to cats so that’s why I didn’t get another one.
Mine lived to be 16. We do miss them terribly. Don’t we?
Your cat sounds like my cat was. She would catch lizards too! Yes, she would bring them over to show me her catch!
My friend named a cat, ‘Extra’ because she had a cat and this new cat showed up that she ended up keeping.
I cracked up when I heard what she named the new kitty.
Have you ever had a cat visit you on a daily basis? I did.
I rented a duplex with my friend. This beautiful cat would visit me everyday, he would sit on top of my chest of drawers, then meow to be let outside and would go back home, wherever that was.
He definitely wasn’t a stray. He had a collar on and looked very healthy.
He had the prettiest eyes, a Siamese cat. He didn’t fight with my cat.
I loved that he visited me but I didn’t feed him because I saw he had a collar on and belonged to someone.
I think my bird ordered some millet online. If you can enlarge my avatar, (quick before I change it) you will see him on the computer.
He is a bird, not a cat, but I do affectionately call him "puppy" sometimes.
Do you have any pets GA?
Dosmos, touching story about your cat!
So Shell, your cat is named "Birdie!" Lol!
I could tell the end was near because of his many trips to the litter box and not doing much else. The vet charged $1000.00 to keep him for a week, but it didn't help much. At home I picked him up...he was purring, I thought, But, alas, it was not a purr but the rattle of his fluid-filling lungs. There was one more trip to the vet to say goodbye and thanks for being such a loving friend. It's been awhile, but he still walks across my bed at night (I imagine) and when I'm half asleep I hear him ( I think) meowing for his breakfast. I know he's no longer here, but I still miss him more than I would ever have believed.
When I was younger, we had a cat name Tigger. Who use to do these same things. However, if Tigger wanted in through the front door he would knock. How? Our front door has a mail slot that he could open with his paw then let it go and it really does sound like he knock; however, if he wanted in through the side door he would scratch at the screen, so my mother tied a big bell on it and tried to teach him to hit the bell...it never did work. Tigger could knock at the front door, but refuse to hit the bell on the side door. I guess, he wasn't interested in learning a new trick! Cats are funny little creatures...aren't they!?😸
P.S. Glad that you and your kitties are doing good!💖
Gershun...I'm like you...I love all animals...big or small...with feathers or without...with fur or no fur...I just love them.
I have 3 cats. Moses is a indoor & outdoor cat because I rescue him & he lived outdoors for 2 yrs. His family moved and left him behind. It took me 2 yrs to earn his trust and a really bad snow storm. Birdie and Shadow are indoor cats only. Birdie is also a rescue cat and unfortunately she is not very smart. She was born from a stray cat and I knew she wouldn't make it on her own, so I started to let her and her brother Toby in and out of my house so I could save them. Unfortunately Toby didn't make it. I still think of him. Birdie is a sweetheart. My not so sweet Shadow was off to the pound. She wasn't even 6 weeks old. I thank God she was slow moving at that age because it was love at first sight. I grabbed her and told the people she was going home with me. Turned out, Shadow is a Main-coon. She is big, black, and beautiful. Main-coons are snow kitties, but Shadow doesn't like the snow! LOL!!
Now that I think about it, all the cats I ever had were rescue kitties...I guess that is my lot in life!! Rescues kitties! 😸
P.S. I would run back into the house to if I heard a train and not knowing what the sound was. Poor kitties...I bet the horn of a train is loud to them.💗
