Hey folks, welcome to the new whine/general topic thread. Feel free to use this thread to discuss anything that is on your mind. Caregiving- related stuff, life after a loved one's death, your own emotional wellbeing. Whatever..........anything on your mind.
when it's yellow let it mellow
when it's brown flush it down
There are very few who understand my humor.
And I appreciate your humor. But keep flushing in winter!
And keep posting your comments about Covid.
Don't allow the sock puppets to chase anyone away.
Gershun would have something to say about that.
Just kidding, I know she's hunkered down inside with the thermostat cranked up LOL
Per CDC study, More than 70% of those who contracted Omicron are fully vaccinated.
Per CDC, vaccinated people can and do transmit virus to others.
Vaccinated people still get COVID and die.
Being vaccinated does not make someone else safer.
Being unvaccinated does not make anyone else less safe.
ONLY being sick with COVID puts someone else at risk.
As for the endless covid debates. Picture someone with their hands over their ears saying "I can't hear you!" That's me right now. The truth of the matter is even the CDC and the politicians, the infectious disease specialists etc. are in the dark about covid so opinions are a dime a dozen. I've lost count of the number of times I've heard a so-called expert on t.v. saying "we haven't reached a conclusion yet about this" when discussing covid. I'm fully vaccinated so I've done what I thought was best for me. End of story.
Everything I have read about vaccines and omicron suggests that while some vaccinated people are getting infected by it, vaccination does appear to lessen the severity of the infection. More data needs to be collected to come to firm conclusions. As gershun pointed out, it is early in the game.
Know that for all the complainers, there are probably 2 - 3+ more people who ARE grateful, but aren't necessarily expressing it directly to the hospital staff, not for any negative reason but perhaps b/c they're focused on their own recoveries.
I think some levels of people blame others for various reasons: they're not capable of assessing their own participation or lack thereof; they're not mature or intelligent enough to make valid assessments, and/or they just don't want to take care of themselves - i.e., let someone else do it.
These people aren't worth your valuable time and consideration, and know that their whining and complaining reflects on THEM, their inability to respect, to analyze their own behavior, and perhaps even their inability or unwillingness to change and take care of themselves. Some people are just irresponsible.
Hang in there, and know that there still are good, reliable and intelligent people who appreciate and support your work, and your sacrifices.
Well the next morning, woke up and had none of those symptoms. In 24 hours it was totally gone. So it must have been a covid break-thru as I had my shots/booster. Had the same 24 hour side affect when I got my booster.
I rarely leave the house, always been a homebody. But I ran out of holiday cards so I went to Target, hardly anyone there. One didn't need to wear a mask if fully vaccinated, and since my glasses were fogging up big time, I took my mask off. Apparently since it was the only store I had been in, I caught it some how. My sig-other kept his mask on, he was fine.
Yes, one can get a case of covid even when vaccinated/booster, but it won't make you sick enough where you would need to go into the hospital, unless you have a serious underlining condition.
Just food for thought.
ff - glad you are OK. I rarely leave the house too these days. Masks are still mandatory indoors here and I am OK with that. I have no doubt that your vaccinations protected you from worse illness.
Try going back to the old ways. Walk around the block, find something that seems to grow easily where you are, go in and ask if you could take a cutting. You might even meet some nice people! Collect your own seeds. Use all that plastic packaging to make seed trays. Make your own compost to turn into potting mix. Find a gardening club with like minded tight wads like me!
Re: the quilts - I belong to a church group that makes quilts for the homeless and other charities, that's all well and good when the materials are donated but when they end up buying fabric, batt and thread I can't help but think they could have got more bang for the buck buying blankets from Walmart. Same goes for all the people knitting mittens, for goodness sake I can buy better, waterproof insulated mittens at the dollar store.
Waiting to hear the final word on financing for the condo.
Bad news. Just today, those good looking sunflower seeds were sitting in a jar on the counter, dH just had some. They were so expired, rancid, tasted toxic like a chemical, I had to spit them out. Putting them down the garbage disposal, he objects. Don't do that! Another disagreement. I hate this.
I read that keeping the humidity higher can help ease that, prevent colds/flu, clean the air, decrease the dust. And I will look younger maybe!
Humidity reading over 30% has helped, as it dropped to 16%. The actual recommended readings for better comfort and health are online.
Spring brings a load of regular maintenance of the home to mind....some things are spring cleaning; changing batteries in fire alarms, motion activated lights, sorting through food storage, and other things you might mention.
I have a list of things to do in the spring, continued from 5 years ago....no problem, some of those things never got done. 🤗
So far, we did take down and put away the Christmas lights.
Just amazing.
I don't think that as we age, we can ever get too old to be surprised!
It is my fault the sunflower seeds in Dh's snack cupboard were so old, my fault, yep, all my fault. 🕯
