Book, I take it that plumeria is not blooming there now? Creepy.

Glad, even if it's blooming, we don't have a tree nearby. Our land is large. None of us are into gardens. Across from us - is an empty lot. On the right, is my dad's property and beside that is a warehouse parking lot for their trucks. On the left is the low income apartments. There is no plumeria trees around. .. Yes, very creepy. Very unusual. There is no way the scent of plumeria will continue to grow strong right there on the porch and to permeate into the house. There's no wind. By the time I go to sleep tonight, I would have found a very logical explanation for this. Because I am sleeping in the livingroom, where the livingroom door is just 4 feet from my sofa bed. Anyway, it's time to hit the sack.

It's surprising how far scent can travel on a calm night, especially a warm humid night.

cwillie -in England, walking down a residential street, sometimes I could smell a blooming rose bush before I could see it, and with no wind. As you say, the scent carried on the warm humid air.

That being said,

book - I have experienced odd smells at times where they should not be, and wondered about their significance. What you see is not necessarily all of what you get.

I woke up this morning and checked the porch and front area. Oh, no! Our large mango tree right in front of the house is blossoming! I'm allergic to mango. Just smelling the blossoms will trigger weeks of full flu-like symptoms including deep coughing, runny nose. My doctor 's solution at time was shutter the windows and use air conditioning. We don't have an air con in living room. Something in my bedroom causes headaches... I can't stand that strong mango smell. I will need to tell sis to keep the livingroom door closed.

Book can you wear a good mask with filters like a gas mask. I know it wiould be hot and uncomfortable but might be the lesser of two evils. maybe if you asked nicely the spirits would kill the tree for you.
(2)
Report

No, they won't. Mango trees are one of their favorite 'homes'. Oldest bro thru our local healer was able to rid the scary one. Everyone sensitive to spirits felt the difference. No more eyes watching you. No more hearing a family member's voice calling out to you. I can now go on the porch without feeling scared... Face mask sounds good to filter the smell...thanks.

I'm not a Amazon Prime subscriber. FYI, for those doing the monthly sub the rate will be going up after 18Feb. From $10.99 to $12.99. I did the calculation. That's $155.88 a year if you do the monthly sub. Best to do the annual subscription which is still under $100.00.

I was just contemplating whether or not my Prime membership is worth the $100 per year. I think so, though. I get good value from being able to order darn near ANYTHING online and not have to set time aside to go to a special store and hunt down something I need.

I recently decided to splurge some and buy some things to put the apartment together. I was in the market for a smart tv so I read reviews, did comparison shopping, and ended up getting a very nice tv for $300 delivered right to my door. That's where Amazon, and the Amazon Prime service, really excel for me. I used to watch the free movies but haven't don't that lately. I know they offer free books and music, too. So if you take advantage of those extras, it's a nice deal.

I use it primarily for the very REAL CONVENIENCE of being able to get good products delivered to me. It probably saves me more time than money, but that time is invaluable imo.

I like Prime and Prime Pantry. I can order things that I can't purchase locally.

I tried Prime, but am doing better without; just have to make sure my order is over $25 with Amazon items to get free shipping. Just ordered a nice, HEAVY tailgater with microphone for singing and there was no shipping - yeaaa! Nice to get this stuff delivered to our door; also good deals on stuff like Zinger teas (those with hibiscus for elevated BP), 2 lb jars of raw, unfiltered honey for $10 - stuff like that. We live 60 miles from a city, so it helps a lot.

My sig other answer the phone and on the other end was a telemarketer who asked "is the Man of the house at home?" to which sig other answered "no, she isn't here right now" :P Well, it got the telemarketer to hang up.

I just discovered a new online comic. I never knew that comics can have music! Each page has a lovely piano playing in the background. The 1st page was heart-touching (piano music helped reach the emotions within.) I'm on the 3rd page. I was surprised that piano music can actually portray nostalgia (just like the comic page where the person is reflecting the past.)

I'm savoring each page. Even backspacing 1 page, then hit the Next page button so that I can listen to the piano music again. I'm going to FB later on and Tag that comic. I have a feeling by the time I'm done reading this comic, I will have a deeper appreciation to piano music.

Oh, just google: Siren's Lament (found in WebToon).

I just got off the phone with my sister. Conversations with her are basically me grunting occasionally while she prattles on and on and on and on about her work - the details of the job itself, her co-workers, her co-workers families, her residents (she works in a retirement community), her resident's families.... (yawn). Somewhere in the midst of all that there "might" be a nugget of information about our family or someone I actually know and give a d*** about, but I tend to zone out and miss it.

I got up this morning and decided I'd better go to church since the weather is fine and I have no excuse not to, but when I checked the facebook page (do you know how annoying it is to try to use facebook when you aren't a member?) I discovered the pastor is away. Well, all dressed up and no place to go.

Ah, the mods have been a work deleting things... well, it really belonged on the whine thread anyway. SMH.

Just cannot imagine you saying anything that would need deleting.

Type it out again, and if it is that bad, I could report you! lol.

Luckylu,
That is putting the cart before the horse, rearranging your words like that! Maybe they did delete part of it.
I know that I have been so distracted lately, I would not remember what was deleted.

Cwillie,
Your words that were deleted were not any of the following, were they? :
blessings, joy, misquotes from the bible, more blessings, happy happy happy, joy, blessings.

The only things to do in a small town involve food, either shopping for it or eating it I'm supposed to be cutting back on unhealthy food. I went to the hardware store, fed mom her lunch and have been sitting online all day doing absolutely nothing worthwhile. About an hour ago I checked the time to see if I could get ready for bed - nope, it was only a little after 3:00 in the afternoon. OMG I need a life.

Poor Cwillie!
In between posting here I went outside and watered the plants. Not bragging, just want to explain that I haven't eaten yet!

Can you say what exactly did you buy at the hardware store for Mom to eat?

Sorry guys to hear about deleted posts and rearranged words. I haven't been paying close attention, but I will try starting now.

Quiet Sunday for me too. Cwille, I hear you. Some days it feels like time is moving more slowly and others it just goes by lightning fast. I'm also puttering a bit in front of the computer today. I thought about watching the Olympics, but it makes me a bit sad because my father enjoyed watching sports so much that even having the Olympics on in the background makes me emotional.

Hi Send, I hope you find something good to eat!:-) Speaking of which, I need to look in the fridge and have a late lunch.

On the internet, I found this list:
Healthy Brain Foods
(None of these are sold at the hardware store.)
Avocados
Beets
Dark Chocolate
Blueberries
Bone Broth
Broccoli
Celery
Coconut Oil
Eggs Yolks
Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

I can make a blueberry smoothie because our organic blueberries from t.j's are frozen.

I did, however, buy a magnet tool at the hardware store, so if there is any metal like, in the salad,
I can find it and take it out.

What did you find CDN?

You guys are funny; and absolutely right about small towns, cwillie. We've lived here 21 years (because my husband built this house, so he won't leave), and I've gained 80 lbs in the last 17. I weighed 120 lbs till I was 50, now up over 200; nothing to do here but eat, wherever you go. I bet there's food at our hardware store.....
