I hope everything turns out positive for your hubs and his thyroid biopsy Send. What is it going to be? A fine needle aspiration? I had that done a few years back.
I remember them saying "Now keep still and try not to swallow" Yeah, okay......gulp. Oh right, I'm not supposed to swallow. Easy to say but hard to do when someone is sticking a needle close to your jugular. But it went fine. I'm still here.

It will go fine with your hubs too.

That goes to my point that people seem to blame the short days and darkness on the time change when it's really just an inevitable part of living where we do. Thk god my ancestors settled here rather than in a place with no winter daylight at all.

Our days are so short DST doesn’t make much difference. By Thanksgiving the kids will be coming and going in the dark. Kids play outside in the dark. We should be in the Atlantic time zone like Nova Scotia but we’re not.

One would think, if people would leave the sun, moon, and stars alone to do their natural thing, we would not need so many laws, rules, and legislation.

Schools could change their schedules so that children would not need to travel in the dark.

I wake up after a nights sleep, and do not get up or go outside if it is dark.
Businesses could also change their schedules to be open at a decent time.
Stores too.

Tomorrow, dH will be having a biopsy of his thyroid.
I am the driver, standing by.

That's all I know.

Becky, apparently that hasn't been passed by the House yet, only Senate.

I'd like more daylight in the afternoon too, but I really don't like the idea of rural kids waiting for the bus or even town kids walking to school in the dark. And on blustery winter days it's hard enough driving to work in the morning, often daylight can make all the difference.
(2)
Report

Here in MN I'd rather there was more daylight at the end of the day, not the beginning. I remember the time change always screwing up my kids' nap times (which in turn messed with my schedule) twice a year. Then there's the challenge for global businesses trying to schedule meetings in multiple time zones (and with the confusion of some states that don't participate in the change). A lot of unnecessary hassle for no good reason. I'm not a fan of the time change.

I thought daylight savings was over for the whole country by this year. I can't stand it.

Daylight savings time will become in either 2023 or 2024. Congress passed a new law last year.

I've never understood the angst from people who hate changing the clocks.
1/ Yeah, the days are getting shorter whether we change clocks or not, lack of sunlight by suppertime is inevitable in the winter.
2/ And if you aren't changing your clocks until you go to be you're an idiot, it's easy to gain or lose an hour in the middle of the day (I do it all the time 🤣).

Spring forward, Fall back...
That time change is coming soon Gershun.

I don't like it either, shifting time around.

cwillie...on the first Thanksgiving after I lost my Mother, the very next morning I heard a tweeting sound just outside my bathroom door and when I looked to see what it was,it was a Cardinal that had spent the whole night in our house.
Iv'e always wondered what it did all night, watch over me,go thru the cabinets.....was it my Mom?
IDK,but it was weird~

Last night I found out my creatures that go bump in the night radar is still working - I was awakened by some very subtle noises but after listening carefully I decided it was outside. About a half hour later I was awakened again and with trepidation I turned on the light to investigate... it was a toad, there was a toad in my bedroom. Little bugger must have come in with my houseplants, but what has it been up to for the last couple of weeks since being inside?

send - Nobody wants to swap their house for northern Alberta in the winter - No-bo-dy!!!

glad - happy that you are happy. Not a good place to work, eh? The commuting and b&bs were a challenge. The hearing/application???
Moving closer to your kids eventually sounds like a good idea. Hope the showing goes well.

Our thrift shop hasn't been accepting new donations for a few weeks. They are overloaded and the trunk of my car is full of stuff to donate. I found another place that takes clothing and there is always the Too Good To Dump face book site.

Living in a hot flash, year around? LOLOLOOL! I love the snow too, but we don't get enough of it here. However, I am very grateful, I don't have to drive 100 miles to go to work tomorrow when we are expecting a few flakes. I am really happy that is over, even though it was not my choice.

What I expect to happen at the hearing on Tuesday night is a denial of the application because people don't like it. Has nothing to do with whether the applicant met all the requirements of the code.

The hard part is still thinking about moving closer to my kiddos with the market as crazy as it is. I love my home, the payment I can manage on SS alone and on nearly an acre. Lots of space. Have a showing tomorrow, I would like to get out of here, but I will remain firm on my price, no more nonsense!

cw - Snow birding sounds good to me but R has livestock and it is hard to get someone to care for them. And this winter he is on a list for a knee replacement which is long overdue. I could always go alone!

ff - I love the snow when it's not very cold, but it gets pretty bad at times here. I walked to school in all weather too. Lots of snow in Ontario.

gershun -I really wouldn't want no seasons either. We have had a long fall and it has been great. My favourite season!

We had an unusually long summer here in B.C. this year. I never thought I'd say this but I'm kind of glad it's getting cooler and rainier here. I personally could not live somewhere where it's sunny year round. I like the change of seasons. Although I don't like it when we put the clocks back an hour. Evening seems to last forever.

The thing about being a snowbird is you can hang around for those first magical snowfalls and then hit the road when things start getting grim. I just need to find somebody down south who will let me come visit from about mid January to the end of February 🤣

I can't wait for the first snow fall, I know that sounds crazy. I grew up in upstate New York, the land of ice and snow. Walked up hill both ways in knee deep snow going to school k-12. Been in northern Virginia now for decades and just love the weather here, except for not enough snow showers. Spent a few years on and off in Texas, felt like living in a hot flash all year round.

There are always repairs it seems. I love a wood fire but don't care for the work involved. Mine needs a good cleaning out too and it's on my list. The condo has a gas fireplace which will be easier. The electrician is coming next week for some small repairs and I want the plumber here to a little work. Then once R finishes his stuff we are done that part. Stuff is getting tossed and more needs to go yet. I cleaned out the garden shed the other day. So thankful for this prolonged nice weather, but I know the cold is coming.

Tim Hortons uses cream with 18% milk fat -100% Canadian dairy! Makes no difference to me I take it black. I think they changed the coffee. I haven't been to Timmy's in years.

There is a class action lawsuit against Coffeemate (coffee creamers) because they added trans fats. Partially hydrogenated soybean oil.

Tim Horton's probably did the same to the coffee creamer in Canada.

It is not only less creamy but very bad for you!

Bring your own cream.

I don't think gershun is saying she has been diagnosed. I think they are talking about all that sugar in their coffee. I hope.

Since inspector was here broke bathroom faucet and fireplace didn't work. Fireplace had been making me nuts. How do millers find every gap to get in? Fireplace looked like a cremation oven for millers, and not a very good one. I managed to get into the fireplace and clean out those critters. Cleaned the glass. Looking so much better and got it burning again!
