Hey folks, welcome to the new whine/general topic thread. Feel free to use this thread to discuss anything that is on your mind. Caregiving- related stuff, life after a loved one's death, your own emotional wellbeing. Whatever..........anything on your mind.
The slow to load had me fooled, because the forum opened up fine.
However, the navigation from one question to the next, from here to over there is very slow.
Today we took our cat to the vet. I thought I'd put my mask in my front pocket of my jeans but when I went to put it on it wasn't there. Hmmm? l searched all my pockets. Looked inside the car and around our place when we got home. No mask.
So I'm using the washroom. I turned around to wipe myself and I see something black floating in the toilet. Yep, my mask. It must have been on me somewhere and when I went to pee it fell in. So I peed on my mask today. Take that, stupid covid mask. :)
Check in here if you like-it can be a lonely journey without someone to talk to.
There was a time when it was so run down, I'd have to walk around the puddles of water on the floor, as the roof leaked really badly. But, it was close to work, very reasonably priced goods, great selection of: seafood (at least four stands), vegetables grown in Lancaster, Basset's ice cream (been there at least 120 years-same stand too-sooo gooood), chocolates, Old City coffee roaster, cheese, Amish/Mennonites on Fridays and Saturdays, kitchen gadget shop, beer garden, rickety piano for someone to pound the keys, BBQ, Vegetarian, Asian, Amish (get there early), roast turkey, Gourmet food stalls to name a few choices....all packed into what I guess is a good sized city block. Some company took it over a few years back, fixed the roof, raised the vendor's rents, made it much more tourist friendly, which I have mixed feelings about, as some businesses left as a result and they had such good meat or cheese or fish. So, that is a Philly version of a farmer's market. Up here-not so much, there was one place that was ok-but, again, sold to a company that pretty much cleaned it up, a lot of disgruntled vendors and I'm not sure if it's ever going to come back to what it was.
But now, add in the economy, home prices decreasing, interest rates increasing. I got hit in 2008-2009. Don't want to do that again. Can't do that again. Won't do that again! I am very afraid recession is where we are headed, but a correction had to come!
I didn't bother to walk through the one this month.
The new FM has a video while the market is open. It showed the health department out in force, and the host 'issuing warnings' to vendors of their presence.
There were also inspections to make sure a vendor was selling fresh, grown themselves. But it appeared they were 'on the FM circuit', doing that only, except for the Tamale vendor.
Some really nice vegetables. And loose teas, some medicinal.
It was over 90 degrees that day, so I was wondering how they could keep food cold enough with just ice in a cooler. 🙄
I'm curious, what farmer's markets are like where you live?
No repeat this year please!!
Water temperature is around 15°C, that's about 60°F. Brrr, those people are nuts!
Willie, I agree. I hate it when it gets warm out. Fortunately, we've been having an unseasonably cool Spring.
I'm still feeling crap though so I could be in Paradise and it would not matter.
No details, but I can't imagine the pain that all of his family is enduring.
We say Baruch Dayan ha'Emet (blessed is the true judge). Too sad.
His relentless search for older, spoiled food is now affecting me, even though I have done the 24/7 hypervigilance routine.
