Just noticed a long series of huge earthquakes in the South Sandwich Islands. Over a period of days, over 5+.
Largely uninhabited area.
Any EQ anywhere can get me nervous.

Saying goodnight everyone on the General Topics thread!
Not staying up to find out more. Will be needing sleep for challenges ahead.

Rest easy caregivers, in God's hands, nothing we can control.

Hallah,
Whenever you make a comment on any question, discussion, or thread, you are automatically "following" that thread.

If you make a comment, and wish to not follow that thread, scroll to the top where the OP asked a question and click unfollow immediately under the title
on the left margin.

Hallah,
Follow CWillie's instructions to DELETE.
Turn on your computer.
Login to the Aging Care Forum.
Click on your avatar, or go to your Profile.
Go to NEWS FEED. Click on News Feed.
There are 3 dots on the upper right hand of each comment, click on the dots.
Choose DELETE.

One can only go back so far in time on your News Feed to delete.

My instructions were for a different function, a different place (Settings), with the purpose of limiting what comes on to your NEWS FEED in the future.

I could be wrong, because I am not fully computer literate, depending on my husband for the serious stuff.

Send & Cwillie, I’m still not figuring out how to delete. I eliminated some Topics and clicked on the three little dots. All I got was a box with “unfollow”. If I click on that, does that delete all the threads? They go back to when I first posted in May ‘21.

Thanks for helping. I’m not too good on puters.

Hallah,
You will not get as many posts in your news feed if you decrease the number of TOPICS.

Click on your own avatar.
Click on Settings.
Go to TOPICS, and delete (click on the X) which topics you can live without.

Additionally, you can 'Stop following' posters who are prolific, annoying, or odious to you.

You will still receive unwanted posts in your news feed if you are following someone who posts on the topic you stopped following.

Look for the three dots on the upper right side of the comment or message that shows up in your news feed, you will find options there to stop following threads you have previously commented on or to delete messages.

I have a question. How do I delete all the stuff in my News Feed? I’ve looked for info but can’t find any. I thought of contacting the moderators but I had emailed them twice about something or other (I have forgotten about what now) and never heard back from them. I know someone on here will know the answer. You folks are great!

Sorry to say when it comes to threads asking advice about covid I've seen the kind of divisive comments that are much too commonly seen in social media, I hadn't realized AgingCare had the guts to step in and close any but I am glad.

Looking back at the "comparisons are odious" comments below (I agree, they are) reminded me of a lovely story I heard from a woman journalist whose baggage went missing when she arrived in an African country to cover a famine. Of course she was used to such setbacks, but on this occasion she lost a particular favourite dress and was genuinely upset about it; only in the circumstances she was ashamed to complain or make a fuss.

Knowing something was wrong, her interpreter eventually got the problem out of her and the reason why she hadn't felt able to tell. He patted her reassuringly and said "of course I understand! We have First World problems too."

As adults we should be able to have conversations which will sometimes include differences of opinions without it turning into a childish argument.

This includes discussions about covid. I've enjoyed hearing others on here discuss their experiences with the pandemic generally and how we have all fared with the vaccine (or not).

Lets keep it civil.

On Friday morning @ 5:30 a.m., we had about 3 minutes of big rain drops.
Of course I had to get up and look since rain is so rare here.
Also, had to confirm it was not another broken sprinkler.

The sky had fluffy clouds. Beautiful!

Hoping we can all wait for the Aging Care Admins to address the misunderstandings presented here about Covid topics.

My experience has been they are very lenient about any topics and any opinions posted, even when it may be a controversial subject.

However, when name calling, attacking other caregivers, and trolls are discovered to have started an inflammatory thread, or turn a thread into one big controversy, the Admins do take appropriate action, imo.

We all need to get over ourselves and keep this forum upbeat and positive.
And don't get me wrong, I am a team player, up and until the 'team' tries to take down this valuable forum for us to vent and share. We need Aging Care.

It would be better if everyone acted polite like adults, needing less supervision and intervention.

I hope the ACCM will erase my post here because I do not work for AC, and I don't want to be the bad guy. But some things need to be said as a placeholder until the forum moderators get back. imo.

Yes, still praying for NHWM's daughter.

Saw my son's MIL on Friday; she is an NP who is the CEO of a small hospital in the Midwest. They have no beds.

A family, unvaxxed, unmasked dropped their very ill 60 yo parent off at the ER saying "...and mom, don't let them test you for COVID; you KNOW that's a hoax".

We are in for an abominable Autumn, I fear.

AgingCare has closed at least 2 threads that discuss COVID. Why? Maybe because the of polarizing and contentious viewpoints. Just want to point that out so it won't happen to this thread, too.

NHWM last asked for prayer for her daughter in the hospital. It was serious.
Still praying.

Glad, since you brought up covid...I was wondering whatever happened to all the talk about "herd immunity"? I found this article interesting: https://www.wfla.com/community/health/coronavirus/did-the-delta-variant-make-covid-19-herd-immunity-impossible

Hope she is ok. NO is having surge of CV.

From NO website. What does this mean? Contradictory?
The City of New Orleans continues to meet all public health milestones and has fully vaccinated over 74% of all adults with the COVID-19 vaccine. However, only slightly more than 52% of all New Orleanians have been fully vaccinated.

So the second sentence includes children and others not eligible for vax?

Ripe bananas are good for smoothies or muffins, yogurt keeps forever and a head of romaine or iceberg lettuce does too if you keep the moisture content right, wrap it in a tea towel and put it on a plastic bag. Bag salad - that depends on what's in it, some greens do go bad quickly. Coconut macaroons.... they wouldn't keep very long at my house but not because they'd spoil 🤣

And comparing anyone's problems to someone else is belittling in my opinion, we can always find people worse off but that doesn't mean our stresses are not real!🤗

Cwillie,
Maybe yours was a rhetorical question, but here is a partial list, as we had lots on hand to be eaten also:
Bananas, yogurt, lettuce, pkgs of salad (he eats lots), coconut macaroons and other things.
I just wish to be informed in advance, but that will never happen. Trying to get a handle on our food budget is challenging, and I am dancing as fast as I can....

In the face of a pandemic, earthquake in Haiti, fires in Greece, and the various storms, my problems are minuscule, I know that.

Just try to keep him hydrated Send. I'm not following what the church has to do with anything, but that's OK I don't need to know.
But what kind of food are you buying that can't be put aside for several days? (Speaking as someone who routinely buys extra sale items to eat at a later date)

Groceries delivered first thing this morning! 🙂
As I am fixing breakfast, he says, umm, I am fasting for 3 days. 🤗

Wasn't it just yesterday, it seems, that I rescued him from a parking lot, took him to get his bike repaired (I waited in parking lot @ 92 degrees), and when asked how much money he needed to pay the bill, he was struggling with any words at all, but said: "I can't talk because I have low blood sugar". 😥 By the time we arrived home it was two hours later @ 100 degrees. 🔥

No choice but to deal with this, because it could be interpreted as opposition
to the church.

Giving away food that will spoil.... 🥬️🍌🥗

Pam.

Your daughter would get along well with my youngest daughter. I could see them hanging out! My oldest daughter is the ‘practical’ one.

Your daughter sounds precious! It’s fun to see their enthusiasm. I must admit that my oldest daughter and I giggle at some of my youngest daughter’s dreams though. She dreams big! She will splurge on certain items, she had one of those monthly makeup deals too!

Let us know how the Botox goes!

Both of my girls are thoughtful with gift giving. They do a great job of selecting just the right thing.
