NHWM,, my daughter is a definate Diva! We used to call her "little Paris" when she was younger after Paris Hilton.. LOL She once got me a year subscription to one of those "boxes" that comes monthly with beauty stuff in it.. she gets me the best gifts for pampering! And she got my Mom beauty stuff too,, not in a bad way,, in a pampering way! At my age I finally decided that I need to look after me once in awhile too,, makes me feel good. Her next project for me is Botox.. no lie! She gets it at 34, and I had a bad accident when I was 18 so my "elevens" are very pronounced from some scaring in the brow area.. She is all about getting this for me,, I am a bit nervous!

Yes NHWM!
I also like the recommendations given here on our forum for new products too!

What I like about searching on the internet is the simpler your question, the better the answers pop-up. Even using long questions help.

I know if I asked about buying a new broom, I would have received the best advice: "Buy a corn broom".

Send,

Don’t you love discovering new uses for products?

My daughter used to love to shop at Clair’s when she was a teen. You know, the shop in the mall that kids like to buy girly stuff, jewelry, hair accessories and so on. Anyway, my daughter has very sensitive skin. She had a reaction to a cheap necklace that she bought.

I am not kidding when I say that her neck turned black! I thought it was dirt! LOL I kept telling her to wash her neck! She kept telling me, “Mom, I shower every single day! I can’t get my neck clean.”

So, I got so frustrated seeing this ugly black smudge on her neck. I said, “Well, let me try to wash it off.” She told me to give it a go. I took a washcloth and literally scrubbed her neck and the black smudge didn’t budge. It was so noticeable because my daughter has very fair skin. She was annoyed because everyone started telling her to wash her neck! LOL

So, I did a search on, ‘How to remove skin discolorations due to cheap jewelry?’ I found this posting from the UK on dish liquid soap removing stains on skin from inexpensive jewelry. I wasn’t familiar with the brand because it was sold in the UK, but I thought, hey, why not try Dawn dish liquid. So, I did and it worked!

A short while after that I had to have a mole removed at the dermatologist and was telling her about it. She said that she was going to research it. I thought, watch her come up with a ‘special formula’ and market it. Hahaha, and all that is needed is dish liquid. I still had to use a washcloth and use a small amount of effort but the entire mark came off.

Dawn dish detergent is definitely a multi purpose product!

Did we know this?
Morrocan Oil is actually the same as Argan Oil, from Morroco!

Just started using the shampoo, because dH wanted some without Sulfates.

But I have had a spray can of Argan Oil, and love how it conditions my hair. But dH cannot stand the smell, and it may not be good for Tweety. I had it outside for that reason, and was going to get rid of it. One day there were flies near my car, and I grabbed the can of spray. They might not have died, but they dispersed the area quickly. Just the other day, I took the spray can out at dusk and sprayed all around, there were no mosquitos biting me.

This stuff has a lot of uses, including does nice things to hair. Maybe it will prevent Covid, and I could call it Covid-Spray.

Pam,

I love your pampering tips! I am jealous of your spa outings. I am so glad that you pamper yourself. You care for others at the hospital and it’s delightful to see that you take time out to pamper yourself from time to time. I love when you post about your outings, massages, etc. Your daughter sounds so sweet and very much like my youngest daughter who is a diva! They keep up with the latest trends! Don’t they?

The broom I ordered just arrived via Amazon. What were they thinking? Let the packaging speak for itself....

"Have you noticed that your new broom is square and not rounded like on the product picture, also these connecting pieces look awfully small?
Don't despair! This is the case because you are one of the lucky customers to receive our completely overhauled and improved Broom and Dustpan Set 2.0!"

"The most exciting improvements include the new broom head with 4 rows of bristles, the poles with stronger connections and the new dustpan lip to make sweeping up small dust easy and fast."

NO, NO NO NO NO NO!

Calling it Covid-broom.

Send I had several samples of hair oil that my DD got me,, not sure of the names . The one I bought is called MorrocanOil from Amazon for about $15. Small bottle but I am learning that you only need a few DROPS,, really!! I probably have enough from the dang sample bottles to last for months,, but you know,, I paniced! But it really has changed the entire texture of my hair. I wash, put a few drops on my hands and rub them together and then rub them and smooth it into the bottom of my hair ( not the roots part) Then I just let it air dry. and comb it once in awhile. Scrunch it up once in awhile so my waves come back.

Gershun,
Have you tried rubbing a fabric softener dryer sheet lightly into your hair (not scalp)?
Then it does not fly away.

There are other products for static in hair.

We (means just about everybody) love love love our fire fighters.
This year, they have been putting out many fires in under 30 minutes!

My dH gets his hair cut for free by me. Mine is growing below my shoulders, but is okay for now. I wear it, but really dislike a ponytail on me.

Pammzi, what kind of oil?

Last time I talked to nephew #3 about being vaccinated he told me he had a plan, so I backed off. Today I asked him what his plan was and he told me he wants to get it when he has holidays in Oct/Nov🤨.
I told him that it may actually be harder to get then as mass clinics are closing by Sept and his reply was that it doesn't matter if he gets it, it's nothing anyway. I just don't know how to talk to this kid😬.
(and yeah I know he's not a kid, but).

Hahaha, thanks Pam!

Totally agree! Yeah. my stylist is reasonably priced too. $45 for women and $25 for men. My daughter was also a waitress in high school and college. It is their paycheck! My daughter switched to bartender in college and cleaned up on the tips, especially for the LSU football season!

Want to hear something funny? One of her coworkers told their boss at the bar that she couldn’t work on a particular night because she had an emergency for that upcoming night! What??? How do you know about an upcoming emergency ahead of time? Then the girl posted a pic of herself partying with friends at the football game. Crazy huh? Wait, it gets better! My daughter was asked to cover her shift when she was supposed to be off and the girl didn’t get fired! My daughter wasn’t planning on attending that game, but still. I call that. ‘young and stupid’ days!

I've got short hair too. I've heard of women with short hair that go to a barber instead of shelling out for a "stylist", you might get a better cut there too.
I know that my cut took about 15 minutes (maybe a little less) and it came to $23.50 plus a $5 tip, which is more generous than my usual because those women haven't been able to work for months.

NHWM,, it counts!! I am also a last minute caller.. it looks good for days and then it dosent! And I call and want seen fast!! Yes,,hubs paid $20 for his,, mine was $40 and that was cheap for me! I am also a big tipper,, DD was a waitress for her high school years and I know that was her real paycheck. Plus the big tip means I normally get in faster next time!

Pam,

Does it count that I need to schedule an appointment with my stylist? LOL

My husband is a perfectionist when it comes to his hair! He NEVER looks like he needs a haircut. Me, on the other hand, oh gosh, I usually wait until I can’t stand it anymore! Not always, but sometimes my hairstylist says, “Boy, you REALLY need a haircut! I think that they should send out reminders!

Don’t you hate that men can get their haircut so much cheaper? I wear a short pixie. My husband has short hair. What’s the difference? LOL

Plus, I throw in a big tip! Always have and always will tip fairly. I can’t stand when people don’t tip. I stopped eating out with certain people because they are CHEAP! I end up tipping their share because first of all, it’s embarrassing. Secondly, it’s not fair to the server. Their tips are their livelihood.

Hair......speaking of. I have really fine hair so I'm limited in what I can do. I hate that overstyled, over sprayed look so I'm stuck with it.

I have an angled Bob that looks great right after I blow dry it. Then I move and it goes everywhere. 👱‍♀️

Cwillie,, it must be the day for hair! Hubs got his cut, and I had an appointment to get mine dealt with. The past few monthsit is so dry and getting thinner.. I was ready to get a really short cut and just start over. I use good shampoo and conditioner, and its still a mess,, I hate to comb it! I have been taking protien powder and it helps with new growth, but still awful!( although my nails are now rock hard!) She trimmed it good, so now its about at my shoulders, and my curls have come back.. but it is so full of "product" it will need washed tomorrow! She told me to start using some oil on it daily,, and if it dosent help come back in few weeks and she will give me a messy youngish pixie( I am not ready for "old lady cuts" yet) I hope this works,, I have always had longish soft hair since my toddler days ( when I had a pixie and I am still traumatized..) so this is new for me!

🎂 Happy Birthday, Pam

I just saw something cute about a woman and her cats. Her cat stole items from the neighbors. LOL She decided of hang all of the things that her cat stole from clips, strung on a clothesline, so her neighbors could claim them. She put a sign next to it saying that her cat was a thief!

My brother once had a dog that stole from his neighbors. He would bring home mops and brooms. One time he brought home a baby blanket. My brother said that the young mother was not happy with his dog!

I am on vacay for 10 days... and I have gotten some stuff done. The local Tip / Spay/ neuter clinic got 9 of our 21 ferals!! Back home now and slowly coming out to eat ( they said its normal for ALL the cats to hide for awhile after trapping) They are coming back at the end of the month and try to get some more.. fingers crossed! On Fri we pick up our updated wills and health and regular POAs.. ( thank you all for keeping me on my toes about this) I also got the paperwork for opening a estate account for the one dang thing my name wasn;t on,, makes me angry I have to spend money to get what's mine ( only child) but lawyer said this is the easiest way,, and I just want this all over and done. So dropping that off Fri as well, but at least then I can deposit some checks that have come in Moms name, and get the account transfered. Had a nice 4 day trip to the river house, and today got a pedi and waxed,, ( no need for stash and beard on my 63rd birthday) as DD got me a gift cert! Now a few more days to relax for the most part!!

I'm popping back in to add a thought -
In the the 70's there were some wildly costumed bands (Kiss lol) and in the 80's the androgynous look for men was in, all that permed hair and impeccable grooming - you can't blame us for missing the nuances. What I've never understood is all those women fawning over Liberace!

I go on a deep dive into music videos from the 80s on YouTube sometimes. I think they're great, in general -- over-earnest in spots, comically ridiculous in other spots. I was watching some Kansas videos recently. I like the tunes, but why are they dressed in gowns and have these serious-actor looks on their faces..? And there is no evidence of hair cream or beard oil anywhere, just fluffy & free hair everywhere. lol 80s music videos are a fun guilty pleasure for me.
