My husband received his back support in the mail today. That is a good thing.

He has it on. So cooperative, wanting to stand up straight and decrease arthritis pain.

Within an hour, he now has his scanner perched through one shoulder strap.
The antenna is sticking out, readily visible. The other black shoulder strap has a black high tech flashlight, I had to ask what is that? Not readily identifiable.

He appears to be ready for combat.

I asked him not to go outside dressed like that. Oh dear, today is going to be more challenging than expected. If he goes outside, he may scare the neighbors.

I'm on it!

Book, that's almost sad in a way. Like they are tricking already confused people. But I guess it's better than them wandering off somewhere

Book,

That’s actually very clever! What if they aren’t fans of a bus and they are walkers instead?

Occasionally I have heard of someone leaving a very expensive facility in my area.

One person walked all the way to a main highway before they were caught.

Sadly, this has happened with kids escaping daycare programs too.

In Louisiana there was a case where a person driving a truck stopped when he saw a toddler walking across a highway.

There was a large portion of a fence missing in the play yard.

The teachers placed playground equipment in front of to block the hole but kids are small.

The child got through it and made it to the highway before the truck driver found him.

The truck driver took him back to the school.

The school did not even tell the parents that their son escaped.

The parents saw it on the news because the truck driver alerted the media.

The daycare was shut down.

I came across something in the internet of the Benrath Senior Center in Dusseldorf, Germany, and how they deal with their wandering patients with dementia. They installed a fake bus stop in front of the nursing home which is clearly visible from the main office. When the patients got out of the building, they would go sit at the fake bus stop waiting for the (non-existent) bus. Whenever the staff saw someone there, they would lead them back into the Center.

AND WIC, maybe you should not be hanging out with us old farts!

I understand the issues with the children, the group that I am most sorry about. No doubt, their socialization and education is suffering, that is where parents can really help them to understand that sometimes things happen in life that you do not like, but you help to learn them deal with it and learn something from it.

No doubt that some elected officials are not following their own warnings and requests, it is the way of the world and sometimes it is not very nice.

It is attitude like yours that is causing COVID to explode. My next door neighbor was diagnosed on Wednesday. Now his wife and they are extremely sick. They have two children, 4 and 8. Seventy-five teachers in this very small school district tested positive this past week, as well.

You are teaching your children self-centeredness and selfishness. All that matters is what YOU want to do. To hell with everyone else. I have three children between the ages of 35 and 42. Two of them take this seriously, the third, not so much. Yet their area is exploding with cases, too.

My neighbors are very, very sick. They, too, thought, "oh well" if I get it, I get it, and I probably won't. Well, it got them. Both are healthy, mid to late 30's and now wish they had done things differently, including teaching their children compassion and patience and understanding.

I am sure that you will chastise me for my comments as you do so many others. You always have to be right and seem to know it all. So have at it, I am expecting it.

I hope you and yours remain healthy and that you soon realize the danger that others are exposed to by attitudes like yours.

Worried, I don't think calling people old farts is very constructive and just because we happen to be discussing covid does not mean we are not also concerned with homelessness, children not getting a proper education, etc., etc.

Young people are also dying of covid by the way. Not just us "old farts"

I don't understand your hostility. If you don't like the discussion don't participate in it.

Cali,

I think it’s a mix of both realities. We have to take precautions in order to reduce our risk.

I don’t think anyone could argue that problems haven’t arisen from the situations that has occurred from COVID-19.

Everything has been effected in one way or another. There are many serious concerns.

Everyone would like to see this come to an end. It truly does read like a science fiction book. I love sci-fi books and movies but not in our non fiction world!

Let’s hope for a better year in 2021!

I feel for every parent with school age children during this mess.

I feel really badly for my nephews, one is recently retired from the army, he went to the Middle East five times! He’s had trouble with adjusting to civilian life again, he and his wife are homeschooling, etc.

My other nephew, my godson, just went back to work. He was out of work due to COVID-19. He hasn’t been able to see his daughter. His ex wife lives in another state and is a doctor, so she’s super busy.

My great niece usually spends Thanksgiving and Christmas with my nephew but not this year because she is not comfortable flying during COVID.

My great niece is torn. She wants to see her dad. She is being home schooled as well.

I heard the governor of California recently attended a big birthday party INDOOR and NO MASKS. When people found out, he claimed it was outdoor. Then when people showed the video of the party INDOOR, then the idiot came out to apologize. Then the same hypocritical governor issued a curfew order forbidding people to go out from 10 pm till morning, and not to gather for TG. What an a$$h__l.

While all hair salons were shut down, Nancy Pelosi had her hairdresser to do her hair INDOOR with NO MASK.

Yes, do as they say not as they do.

If you’re scared, stay home.

Do your research and stop listening to the main stream media. Funny how as soon as the election is over, we are back to freaking out over COVID.

All you old farts should stay home but stop expecting everyone else to stop living their lives. All you seem to care about is COVID. What about all the unturned consequences? The virus has a 99.9% survival rate. The death count is seriously inflated and includes people who died WITH and WITHOUT COVID. Don’t you people pay attention to anything else going on in this country? Domestic violence is up across the country. Burglaries are up. Suicides abs drug overdose deaths are soaring. Children are not getting an education. (If you think distance learning is an education, I’ve got news for you!). Thousands of children aren’t even attending distance learning. Homelessness is increasing. And if your precious masks and stay at home orders worked, then why are states shutting down again?

Sorry not sorry but I will continue to live a normal life. I’m not going to stay home because the old people are scared.

If there is one person who dies of Covid, that is one too many. imo.

If you get Covid, and recover, but much later come down with "LONG HAUL COVID-19, even though that is rare;

Even if you know of one person in a wheelchair at age 47;
and have seen reports of a 27 y.o. woman in a wheelchair (these people became paralyzed) from Long haul Covid-19; Even then, that is two
too many, imo.

Scientists are studying why these patients became paralyzed, and 'think' it could be from serious lung damage from having Covid. See studies at Davis.

It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that science does not know much about the Sars-Covid-19 disease yet.

GA, I do believe science is a good place to start.

Reports of how it is spread are evolving. I believe it is in the air, and 27 ft. is irrelevant. imo.

Stay home please. imo.

I don't have the answers either, sorry.

Here's an article regarding side effects of Moderna and Pfizer vaccines. Less than 10% of people vaccinated get side effects and they don't last long according to the article.

But don't quote me. Like I said it was just a google article.

Send, thanks for the suggestions.  I've seen plenty of articles, but I won't rely on any that aren't properly vetted, or aren't based on legitimate, well known health institutions, and are properly cited.

I've seen some articles with inferences that aren't founded or documented.   As yet I haven't seen anything I'd rely on addressing the side effect issue, which is one reason why I'd like to read the article itself, and judge whether or not the sources and those quoted are knowledgeable enough to make critical observations.

Searching online brings up a lot of garbage, especially depending on the search engine.   It wouldn't surprise me to find a Google search that brings up hits for Pinterest; search results aren't always based on reliability as they used to be.

Gershun, do you have a cite for the article on side effects?  I'd like to read it, and thus far I haven't seen anything addressing side effects.   Big Pharma sees $$$$$ and it's in their benefit, but certainly not ours, to gloss over any negative aspects.

I just read an article that says the side effects of the covid vaccine are fairly unpleasant. Maybe they shouldn't let that get out cause those who are on the fence about getting it will really not want to now.

Geeeeez,

The icicles stories are funny!

I don’t remember my cat eating any icicles.

My cat decided one day not to use the litter box. She preferred going outside.

I kept her litter box very clean but she started going to the bathroom in the yard and never returned to using a litter box.

I don’t remember seeing icicles in the yard. Maybe if they were there the birds stole them to help build their nests! Hahaha 🤣

Chris,

My cat had a field day with the satin ornaments. She would lie on her back holding the satin balls between her paws and rip the satin balls to shreds. I had red satin thread everywhere!

Cats! You know what they say? We live with them, instead of them living with us.

She was feisty and playful until shortly before she died. It’s been many years since she died but I still miss her. She had such a cute personality.

The funniest memory I have of her is when I accidentally closed my sock drawer with her inside of it. Hahaha, she kept meowing and I couldn’t find her.

Finally, I looked in the sock drawer and she jumped out like a Jack in the Box!

Gershun, years ago my cat ate the icicles too and yes they made an appearance at the other end!! Gruesome. More recently I made the mistake of clipping some lovely glittery birds at the top of the Christmas tree. One evening I came home to find one of the cats had just about climbed to the top of the tree to get at them. He turned to see me and at that moment tree and cat toppled over. It was carnage with broken baubles everywhere. Being a typical cat he just gave me a "what?" look and sauntered off, leaving me with the cleaning up job. And yet I still love my cats dearly....

Our tree is artificial as well. White actually so it looks snowy. The cats like to sit under it.

I remember growing up our cats at the time used to eat the icicles. There they'd be walking around with icicles coming out of their butts.🙀

So no more icicles!
