Hi Maxine here I can not think of a name for the boat cat-it is amazing that after you wanted a cat one came to you that is God's provadance for sure. GP glad you are feeling good luck with your trip to Vanderbilt and hope you get some answers-have a good night everyone.
GP - I hope you are finally on the road to recovery. Me - I'm feeling a little less dark today. Actually got some sleep last night and I think my dad knows he pushed too far the other night and he's backed off big time. He just gets so agitated sometimes and then gets nasty. It doesn't help that I am going out of town next week. Funny - he tells me how glad he is when my sister is able to get away but NEVER says that about me. I figure it's because he doesn't deal well with any change in his routine and when I'm gone, his routine changes. HIs sister, my aunt, was supposed to come and stay with him but she had a minor stroke last week. He's glad she's not coming but not because she's sick. So my sister is finally going to have a little taste of reality. My daughter usually picks up the slack but she's supposed to be moving out and I told her, while I appreciate her help more than I could ever say, I also think it's time dad's own daughter stepped up to the plate. Wonder if my sis will still be his little princess after next week. Oh, well. Anyway, thanks to all for the well wishes, support, etc, etc, etc. You guys are awesome! Happy belated birthday, Pirate. Hope you had a good one. Good night to all - you're like my family should be and I'm very grateful to all of you.
Thanks so much, rip!! My meds help with my anger and lots of patience. You're a sweetie. :) I will try to write a column very soon and run it by you guys. Hubby was teasing me saying I could end up being the "Dear Abby" for caregivers. LOL My mom used to write for the paper and I wrote one column for the paper about her years ago. I think I have a fear of failure. Thanks so much for your encouragement everyone. Happy Birthday Pirate!! Thanks for being here all of you!! Love yous!!
Bobbie, sounds like the kitty is already naughty, clawing at you and stuff. My hubby is sooooo good with cats. They just LOVE him. Maybe it's that cougar thing. ;)
it's 4 in the morning, the boat stinks and the cat has left the building. the good news is that i left the door open and whoosh. that sucker was over the rail and gone. i went down in the companionway and it peed it there somewhere. Dind't want to pee in the nice sandbox. Wanted to pee on the nice rug. It did say meow on the way out so i guess it enjoyed the respite but it's an outdoor kitty. Last night was cookout night and everyone knew that I had taken a feral cat on the boat so I took a Minwax Red Mahognany wood Stain pen and drew slashes on my legs and arms and acted all torn up and limped up the dock. Everybody was all ready to tell me what an idiot I was for adopting the feral cat. They didn't even see the cat bail out from the boat and sneak up the dock. "See? I TOLD you that cat bit me..." and on and on until they realized that the 'slash' marks on me were fake. We milked that goat all night when someone new showed up and I went into my routine...."I was only trying to find out if it was a boy or girl..." "Where's the cat now?" "I have no idea. It laid me out to whalesh!! and the last i knew it was trying to start the diesel...let me go down and check the lines so the cat doesn't steal the boat..."
Poor kitty but it has a big cat family and it missed them and hunting at night I'll bet. I still have the doors open just in case it wants to come back, but if not, that's ok too. no likey stinky boat. Don't think it will be back, tho. Now I have all this cat stuff. and probably fleas. Not just any fleas. Florida fleas. They lift weights. There's a lot of lizards around here... maybe I'll get a boat lizard.
Bobbie, Sorry about kitty! The right one will come along someday. Peach. Best of luck to Larry and you at your doctor visit today. Hope you get answers to all your questions, and I hope Larry can finally get some relief! Safe trip!!
Bobbie - At least you didn't spend the money to get the kitty fixed and vaccinated before he/she decided to run. Now you can go to the local shelter and get one that's all set for a whole lot less. Or get an older cat that is already litter box trained. I have 2 that I wish I could send you. My daughter has developed allergies to them and I don't have the time to give them the attention they need. But I also don't have the heart to give them away. One's 15 and is getting thinner and thinner so I don't expect she'll be around for too much longer. The other one took so long to even warm up to us and we got her as a kitten that I would feel terrible upsetting her little life. Both of mine, though, were from shelters and they are sweeties - don't scratch me or bite me - lol. Hope everyone has a wonderful, peaceful, non smelly day!
Bobbie, you are hilarious. I would not like the pee smell either. A boat lizard? Ewwwww. Really not the same. ;) deef's right. The right one will come along, if it's meant to be.
I like the idea of a boat lizard, a big bright coloured one that sort of gives off a guard lizard vibe...
Hope you had a good B-day Pirate and rip the frog opera was hilarious!
It is 6 AM here getting grandpa up for small breakfast before cab for Inland Imaging comes to take us up for his Ultrasound that he doesn't believe he needs...no pain no problem...
Mom was gonna give him a bath Monday night, then Tuesday then last night but she just doesn't WANT to do it and is tired and worn out...I am gonna suggest she call someone and at least have a regular bathe person come in to take care of the pone thing she seems so, I don't know put out about...Usually she is adamant he gets a bath before a DR visit...I guess when I am the one taking him it is not so urgent...me I don't care if they see him and someone decides he is dirty enough to report so be it, may get him out of our hands in a way where no one has to make a decision they don't want to make.....
No skin off my astibula...
Bobbie there are sea worthy type cats out there ya just gotta find one. But a good sized lizard or a small alligator could be interesting too...Not sure about litter box training a Cayman though could be...a bit chancy....
bobbie ! u had me rolling laughing ! oh cat piss stinks and its marked for life unless u know a way to get rid ofthe smell . they claw up ur woodwork and hair so unreal , they cling on to everything ! plus cat liter does smell ! it gags me , i found the one that doesnt so its good . when my cat is old and long gone i wont be getting another cat . he has long white hair and his hair is everywhere ! i love him tho , he acts like a dog ! thats my kind of cat . some cats are whiney mewoowww all day long or wanna be loved on and i cant handle that they stay outside . ya need to find the one that thinks he s a dog , best bet is a gold fish for ya , lol like others said one will come and f ind u then ya be bestest friends forever . maybe i ll beat the cat and i found u first i be staying on ur boat forever :-) i use toilet .. lol have a good day you all . made me apple crispy i just threw bunch crap in it so shall see how t hey turn out , lol xoxo
Lizards are cool, I use to feed my porch lizards flys and bugs. I had a bad day yesterday, tried to get some legal stuff done at the tax assessor and some woman that I don't have a clue to who she is said a lot of hateful stuff to me.I call her Sandra the hateful one.I reminded her she was a public servant paid by my tax dollars.Told her people get sued over spreading gossip with no basis.Small town stuff. Took care of that problem, but still have the multi-million dollar woman to deal with.I'm not sure why she placed herself in my mess,I'll figure it out sooner or later. She thinks I'm imtimidated by her money, but I'm not.She surely can't smear my reputation anymore than its been smeared already, but her reputation.........uhmmmmmm.I think it might be open season.
Tenn, Tough call on the reputation smear. I'm sure you'll weigh your options & reprocussions with wisdom. You have every right to be really poed but try to leave your emotions out of your decisions. Emotions can get you in even more trouble (at least that's been my experience).
Miz, I soooo wish there had been someone writing articles about caregiving before I became one. I hate learning the hard way & you would be such a blessing to so many. Please, please do write a few articles as Bobbie suggested and present them to your editor for review as a group. The fact that it could be an onging theme would catch their interest I'm sure. A few different aspects of the numerous topics with reference notations (suggestions) would no doubt wow them.
Bobbie, Too funny. Glad you got some mileage out of the cat claw thing. We used to have a cat that would spin around the top frame of the shower doors while I tried to dry myself. I was always afraid she would fall & candystripe my a## on the way down. Sorry the cat didn't work out. Our little p@#%k still bites me after 8 yrs. but not as much as he used to and with a little restraint. You'll find the right one eventually. In the meantime, how about a couple of those florida chamelian/gechos to liven up the Barbara B? They can be quite amusing & rid the boat of insects too. When you find the pee spot use vinegar to dillute the odor. It works good & the vinegar smell will dissipate too.
Pirate, Happy belated Bday!!!!! Glad you enjoyed it!!!
GP, I took welbutrin for a week or so when I stopped smoking. It didn't do much one way or the other & didn't seem to change when I stopped it. I like the 25mg of Zoloft I take. A little forgetful but worth it to dillute my occassional tantrums. Not so touchy now. Hope all goes well at Vanderbuilt & you get some good answers/help.
Rip, Our hummers have flown south now. Haven't seen one in over a week. I just rolled the cat hair off of my wrist rest for the keyboard. LOL. I don't know how he does it. He leaves little "fur terds" everywhere no matter how much I brush him. Shutup loses his hair in little clumps all over the house but never seems to be missing any. How does that happen? My hair is getting noticeably thinner as I get older but not him! Now I know why the ladies used to have "hair receivers" on their dressers. lol. Do you think I could get Shutup to use one???? We could line our slippers with his soft fluffy hair.
My mom has behaved herself again this week and her health is steady. Good sugar numbers too. I am sooooooo blessed & sooooo grateful. Hopes for the same for all of you.
Diane, Kathy, Linda, Angie, Kuli, Rosella.....Blessings for improvements in quality of life to all.
Castoff-I DO AGREE! Thank God for venting, but I am anxious to be able to tell the truth...The court system is all about not telling the truth-which is really not not style.
I thought Summer's Eve came in Breath of The Sea scent, were they out of that?
I still like lizards, you could put em en harness I suppose, little bell maybe?
Tenn, it sounds like this storm has just begun. I hope they back off, what the hell do they want from you?
Back from Ultra Sound, he said it didn't hurt so I guess that means nothing is wrong...what ever...
Got my ambulance bill and a Jury Summons today in the mail....goodie, more money i don't have, but hey a legitimate excuse to get him out of the house! I am going!
Hi Sailorettes! Thanks for the happy B-Day wishes from all! Yes it was nice to be out and about and be with normal folks doing a normal thing like going to a fair.
Bobbie, the damn cat....let it be wild...they were wild in the beginning of time and did not need us. Cat pee oh my I hate everything related to cats. I have this scrawny orange/white one always hanging around my house...all the stray cats from the block always hang around my house. No matter how much I chase them away they come back with a vengence. All they do is crap and pee. Now at my mom's house I am finding some creepy cats poo everywhere in the backyard....it comes over the back fence. It crapped on some stepping stones I had set out under a tree, it crapped right in front of a swan planter it crapped in a bucket I had in the backyard...if I ever catch this b@stard I will stick a jalepeno up its arse....LOL! I just HATE cats...sorry! On the other hand dogs are more my style...Bobbie get a doggie...they are man's best friend and won't abandon ya! Dogs are pack animals so they like being with the gang! I would get just a little whipper snapper from the pound maybe a little Jack Russel....he he he he...I'm partial to Jack's! Now here's a little Sailor I would love to take home
Pirate, they can smell you hate them and that is why they bug ya, give off here kitty kitty vibes but don't feed em and they will go away..They are weird like that. They like the juxtaposition of people who dislike em ...you wanna pet a cat they walk away...Or you could get a rottweiler in yer yard that works too....
