Sh******t I had written a long message, and going back to read one of your messages, I lost it all! I shall be quicker this time. Any news about Linda? My mother had a similar thing last year, she was operated and as you know she is better than me, now. Maxine you are so sweet. Jen how are things doing, I mean what do you do when your grandpa is away for a few hours? Do you dance, drink, listen to the music you like??? Enjoy, sister, enjoy! Freedom is too precious. Deef, my mother is always the same; she does not want to live with me, wants to go back to Daniela's house every night. I am working so hard and sleeping so little that my patience is zero, so I snap all the time. I am glad that after 10 minutes she forgets all the terrible things I tell her, for example that she has to stay with me because nobody else wants us. I am ashamed of myself. I am really tired. Please do not tell me I have to rest and take care of myself. I can't. I need an anti-depressant hoping that it does not make me feel asleep. What else? Linda give us news. A big kiss on Sassy's nose. I wear bras. Can I continue to stay in this group? Will you kick me out?
Rip, how are you?? Where are you?? I'm having a problem seeing who's online on FB...any suggestions of how to fix it?
miz, glad that Sassy's doing better. Give her some catnip...kitty cocaine works wonders! : ) Loved the me ow, too!
Rossella, bra or not, you're one of us! I'm concerned about you not getting enough rest, though!
Thanks, everybody, for your insight & suggestions about my daughter coming. I emailed her to give her some options that would work better for me & am waiting for her reply. A little scared at her agenda & motives since I haven't seen her in so long, that now all of a sudden she wants to come & spend 5 nights with us. Hum...We'll see!
Does anybody have a good remedy for constipation?? The new med that the Uriologist put me on for overactive bladder is not being kind to my system! I'm miserable...again...seems it's always something!
Cascara Sagrada is an herb that helps with constipation. All health food store staffers know about how it works. But the very best thing are proteolytic enzymes. They help you digest your food so you are *always* regular. You'll love them. You need to take three or so b4 each meal. They help in a ton of other ways as well. Check out iherb.com and look in the coments for Vitalzym or some of the less expensive brands. Good luck with that!
For constipation try equal parts cooked apple, prunes and bran you sort of stew it to mushy. It is called Power Pudding..You take a tablespoon before bed time. It is pretty well known in Cancer circles for patients getting constipating meds.
hey im back . wow what a day , spent about almost 7 hrs in there . ran urine test and blood work , shows everything is all FINE . so made an appt for weds appt with urinoligy . dr said i saw blood in his urine and was shock it came back fine , said maybe he has bladder infection ? ah hell they know nothing ... know i ll take him weds and then set up an appt to do the test , come back again next week , blah blah . bunch hassel . i ask if they can just have that dr come and look at him now ? oh no im sorry , u ll have to come back weds . so all dad got was blood test and piss test and a supper tray , veg soup with alotta juice in it and wheres the beef ?

Bobbies Boulder-Holder Buddies..... That's nice. We are going to be a sub-group of the crew. Linda I am so glad! All is well which ends well. But you were right to worry; it is better to act immediately, before things get worse. And it was not very painful and disturbing for your father, either. Georgia, I would not take drugs. Bran works so well... if you take it constantly. And it is natural. I do not know the concoction that Jen proposed, but it must be good. I would choose a solution of that kind. About your daughter, if you say that you have not seen her for 2 years, maybe she does not fully understand your situation. When she will see it, I am sure she will help you a lot. One thing is what she imagines, (being afar), one thing is what she sees. My brother, who comes every month, and I write him often to explain how the situation is worsening, does not understand anyway because he stays only for a few hours and he sees my mother in a context which is not normal - (he takes her to the Mass, or he takes her to have lunch in a resto). That is not my mother, that is only her social side. Your daughter is going to stay 24/7 so she will understand. I have slept tonight. Collapsed on the keyboard. Guess it is midnight for most of you, now. Criminal Minds is waiting. I am so sorry JJ left. She was nice. Jen, have you read "Tailchaser's song"? It is the most beautiful book about cats I ever read. A book of 20 years ago. Nre fa'o! (It means: Good dance of the heart)
Rosella antidepressants do not make you sleepy I take one that also helps with arthrities pain Bra.s are acceptable GP miralax is good also eat oatmeal and then there is prune juice but just a little to start with Ihard glad you let us know how things are going. it is a nice sunny fall day here.
Hey I would wear a bra if i had something to keep it from snapping up and smacking me in the chin. The straps aren't long enough for me to pop my roll into it. that's why the shirts with 2 pockets.
Rossella! working so hard. thinkoftheboat!! Nobody ever gets it and when they actually see it, it takes them days to process it. I did the Prozac and Xanax and it really works and I did not get sleepy. Old School antidepressant and anxiety med that doesn't have some of the issues that the newer stuff has.
Linda! glad Pa's back home safe. ER always exhausting. Hope you can kick it a little today.
Deef! Flex! I'll be coming before you know it. Next year.
GP! love you girl. Don't do all of that cleaning on your own. Daughter's coming.
Jen, hope you're doing exactly what you want when you have the moments.
Pirate! SS! Kuli and Jojo and Olivia! Maxine and Miz!!
Daughter111 welcome to the Grossed Out Thread! Amazing group of caregivers and survivors! As for me? Metamucil = Cleveland Steamer
Who did I miss? you know I missed some. I'm only relying on my memory, har har. crew call!
Bobbie you have a great memory can you share some. I do not feel so bad after what I heard yesterday at the senior center three friends went to see a new movie and one could not remember 2 weeks later what it was about so she finally called one friend and asked her what it was about she said I can't remember but----- will remember so she called her and she said I also can not remember-I asked if it was good she pretty good.
Austin, do not worry. I get crazy because Daniela, one of my mother's helpers, who is 28 years old, she is exactly the same. "I watched a good movie on TV yesterday night. Can you unload it, so I can keep it? And I. "What's the name of the movie?" "I don't remember". "Who were the actors?" "I don't remember". "How am I supposed to unload the movie?" "It talks about two sisters who quarrel because they are in love with the same man. Look for it on Google". She thinks Google is a miracle! Thanks for the suggestions about Xanax-prozac. I shall ask my doctor to prescribe me a visit to go to the psychologist and so on.
Hi Kids, Just touching base here. 4 days of catch-up took a while.
GP, Glad you're doing better. Visitors can help around the homestead if they want to see you. I'm not "Suzie Homemaker" and don't have company often because of it. Hub says our house is just "lived in". No major dust bunnies but plenty of clutter....backpacks on the diningroom table from hikes in the park, etc.. My brother gave me 2 hrs notice before arriving for 3 day visit in Aug. "Thanks for giving me enough time to clean the bathroom!!!!" I personally think we miss out on much life if we are immaculate housekeepers. Our cat "Shutup" does most of the dusting with his 15" tail. LOL Rosella, I think I know why your mom likes Daniela so much. Sounds like they are on the same page (mindset/loss). She can probably "pull a fast one" on her. Bobbie, Ha, I have to wear a bra in public but don't at home. 44B is hard to find/fit. From a family of giants sort of. We used to joke about mom wearing her breasts as an accessory....high, low, over her shoulder..now thats not so funny but I am glad I'm smaller cup wise. They get in the way plenty already. Straps are never long enough for me either. The manufacturers figure all women are under 5'9" for some reason. Annoying but not a tragedy. Rip, How goes it girl??? Shutup was at the window here in the 2nd floor hallway earlier when a sparrow landed on the sill. Sounded like WWIII & thought he was going to break out the screen. Silly boy!!! Hurt myself gardening at the park again yesterday. Our little day vacations each week have saved our sanity this year. It's all about balance and perspective I suppose. We still have to "go out & play". Miz, Hope you & hub enjoyed your date. Glad your mom is eating again. Hope Sassy is all better soon. Linda, Glad your pa is OK & sunshine pee in the future. Good that your sis is there with you.
My mom is still doing well & behaving herself. I am sooooo blessed lately. Her skin grafts are healing nicely & I hope the diabetis ulcers on her feet dissapear forever. It's been six years that we've been attending to them & it's time for them to go!!! Kathy, Diane, Kuli, Austin & all...nice to hear of you & hope all are blessed.
ohh castoff , its a pleasure hearing from you , sounds like everyody s doing good , guess the full moon hasnt been around , ump . you all have a great day , im digging up elephant ear bulb to bring em inside for the winter , whooo . love ya all xoxoox
Hello all, been away a long time. Just thought I'd stop by and say hello to everyone.
Mom has advanced Alz. now and there is not much new to report. We are still taking care of her in her home. Got a few problems with the main caretaker, the fat one that's been there about 9 months. She's being mean and mom is sending out msgs that she doesn't want her there anymore so we've found another someone who we will wean in and wean "fat and nasty" out.
I'm getting ready for my youngest Marine Corp Graduation October 29th, and the family day on the 28th so I'm planning a nice little vacation to San Diego for that week. I am soroud of him.
A lot to read but I know all the old faithfuls will know who I am.
Higs and kisses to all of you and God Bless you all.
Welcome back Pam can you believe this thread is still going along-and we are still mostly friends a little bumps in the road now and then but we worked them out it is a lovely fall day here in New York State we finally got rain but will get frost soon so brought the plants in today.
What a nice post, Castoff! Good stories! From cats to boobs, it was interesting to read! When you say that we still have to "go out & play" I could not agree more. I need my life to become lighter, lighter, lighter... (as opposed to "heavy") Pamela, I understand you. I prefer to have 2 nice and good tempered girls as caregivers, (even if they clean the house very little and it is a constant mess) rather than the contrary. After a few bad experiences, I am very glad of the ones I have now and the fact that my mother is so well with both of them confirms that they are the right ones... You have to look for and look for and look for, until you find the good ones Austin hi! I see we are very few, tonight. Guess the other ladies are out to dance!!!! Have a nice sunday
Castoff ... Quick note to her & "Hello" to everyone.
There is a flock of huge Hummingbirds invading my yard! They are larger than Sparrows! Everywhere in the Butterfly bushes, Cannas & at the feeders. Must be visiting ... migrating south from Canada. I've not seen Hummers so large! & aggressive! I'd better fill the feeders quick ~
New batteries for the camera. Hope I can snap a few but they are so Fast!
Pamela, Good to hear from you! My Mom is also getting worse. Not much we can do, but keep them comfortable. I'd be lost without Merry's help. She is very good to Mom. Congratulations to your son! Rosella, I'm with you! No patience left and Mom would rather be with Merry. We just have to do the best we can. Be careful with Prozac! Merry's daughter was taking it last year and had a bad reaction to it. Also my nephew was on it for a year and suffered worse with it than without. Some people can't tolerate it at all. Miz, Hope you and hubby had a great date night! How's Sassy? Linda, So glad Pa is alright! Taking him to the ER was the right thing to do. Castoff, Those days at the park sound so nice and peaceful. Rip, Get lots of pictures of those hummers! Got all my plants covered. Expecting a freeze tonight! First one this fall. Hope you all have a peaceful and restful day tomorrow!

Pamela
When you say that we still have to "go out & play" I could not agree more. I need my life to become lighter, lighter, lighter... (as opposed to "heavy")
Pamela, I understand you. I prefer to have 2 nice and good tempered girls as caregivers, (even if they clean the house very little and it is a constant mess) rather than the contrary. After a few bad experiences, I am very glad of the ones I have now and the fact that my mother is so well with both of them confirms that they are the right ones... You have to look for and look for and look for, until you find the good ones
Austin hi! I see we are very few, tonight. Guess the other ladies are out to dance!!!! Have a nice sunday
