Sorry to hear you have a cold and are feeling down. Hope we all get through the upcoming holiday! Everyone I have talked to this year is feeling blah about things, this economy stinks! Peggy, that commercial is funny. Another amusing one is something about telling people to go to the airport for a "pat down" if they can't get a date.
Thanks ssk and Ted. i'm going to be alone for thanksgiving and I guess that's a blessing compared to how many folks have so much stress and work to do to try and make everybody happy. Man I hurt. got the aches and pains to go with the cold. Waaa waaa waaa. Need a new bowthruster. Waaa waaa waaa.
So, I called the doc's office this morning. I have to call back and talk to the person that said that they called the pharmacy. They sure do need to get their s@#t together. Have they not heard of keeping notes on computers? Anything to inconvenience the patient I guess. Well THIS patient is way beyond patient.
If all goes well Hubby and I are going to his parents the Friday after Thanksgiving at around noon and staying until Saturday around 10:00 am. For Thanksgiving here with Mom I'm planning to bake a pumpkin pie and make Tofu Turkey Loaf. I have never tried Tofurkey. Hubby's not too sure about this. He's a meat and pizza kinda guy. Hmm, wonder if Papa Johns is open on Thanksgiving.
Oh Bobbie I am so sorry you are sick esp. over the holodays I spent many holidays alone when my husband was in his short stays in nursing homes he was so disagreeable it was better to stay home and watch sappy love stories on Hallmark and Lifetime and feel sorry for myself a few glasses of wine helped so this is the first thanksgiving I have cooked in years. I got the dreaded shopping done early today.
Naw, just the cough due to cold and sad due to lonely. If I wasn't alone I would be griping about someone up my butt so can't win. Man, I just made an instant oatmeal and let me tell you: the fish are going to finish this sh!!.
ssk...yes the boat can go without a bow thruster but she is big enough and with only one screw, docking is a pain. it is safer to have the bow thruster but can be operated without it. Bow thruster makes it WAY easier to park! Add wind and current and there's an opportunity for full contact yachting.
Hey Maxine! love ya gurl and you have a good turkey day.
bobbie, I'm so sorry you're sad and lonely. The holidays can really suck when you have lost a loved one. I still don't much like Christmas. Been that way since Dad passed away.
A bow thruster sounds like a really good idea.
I know, I used to roll my eyes at tofurkey. But, hey I'll give it a try.
YES! someone to take care of us! Lately, Despite being worn out and basically useless because of it, I've been trying to weed through all the stuff about Eldercare Counselors, Care-Contracts, Etc, trying to get things as tight as possible to protect mom against any Bulls**t my thieving sister tries to pull when I get aggressive about her theft. If she's gonna use mom's life here at home as a threat against me to stop me from persuing this, I have to assume she's willing to go all the way and I don't want to see mom end up in alone in a facility after all that I've already sacrificed to keep her here. But the ol' brain just ain't working lately (mine, not mom's) and so I'm gonna gather all the stuff i've got and spread it out in front of MY counselor, see if his brain's working (He's a few months into caregiving for his wife who's been stroking).
Going today to have birthday/visit with my mother in nursing home. Guess the last couple days her mental status has been going into lala land. Tried to elope Sunday because "her husband and family were coming". Told my younger sister that her mother was coming to visit her..........well in the medical world we all know what that means.........but I keep hoping that she is just having a couple of bad days. MIL, on the other hand got a little sassy yesterday, but at least her behind is healed......if we can only keep it that way.......ALL of you have a terrific day and try to stay warm...:)
Bobbie, Miz, Ted, don't be sad. Throw the sadness to the fish, together with the oatmeal and the tofu turkey. BTW I had a very good couscous tonight, with mushrooms, onions, courgettes, potatoes and guacamole sauce. I bought a nice bar of chocolate and I am going to eat it at the airport. On Sunday morning my mother walked for at least half an hour in the garden, in the wet grass, with no shoes on, with no coat, at 8 o'clock (it was cold, outside). When I woke up I saw her out of the window. We took her to the doctor, today. She has nothing. No cold, no flu, no headache. She is perfectly well. If I stay 15 minutes with my feet wet, I get the cold, headache, I sneeze, I cough. I'm glad to see that the "younger" generation is more solid than ours!!!!
fell asleep on the couch watching Dr. Phil. Now I'm getting up so I can go back to bed. I agree Rossella! Into the Drink! (into the sea) wow still have massive headache, afraid to eat anything and look like a bum. lovbob
get well soon bobbie ! i too been having headaches , head colds . it sucks ! bought me some advil d from behind the phrmacy , its workin . other night i had cold chills up my back and burrr i couldnt get warm for nothing . im glad i had the flu shot cuz other wise i prob be pukin and havin the sh!ts , oh bobbie where is ur husband ? he should come down and spend thanksgiving with you , xmas maybe ? i sure hope so , hate to see u all alone on holidays , maybe tenny can come back to u again this time ? where is she anyway ? havent heard from her in a while . am trying to get ready for tmr , my in law s comin tmr and be up in my a$$ while im trying to cook , i dont know why they cant come thurs but bil wanted to come weds , im thinking oh thats great . so wish me luck ! i know theyll be here at least 4 or 5 days , so i ll be cookin slavin away . mmm think i rather be alone ! my sister had all her upper teeth pulled yesterday and got new denture ! all in one day , now shes all buzz from painpills and sleeping too , wow wish i could be the ones havin the buzz and sleepin away . ok gotta fix dinner , yuck , just not in the mood to eat . too stressed out , love you all xoxoxo
love you too Linda! that's what I meant when I said that at least I don't have to put up with a group of people expecting a 6 course meal. Bless you for doing all of that.
I have the chills and the fever. have you noticed that if you're sick it gets worse when it gets dark? sundowning!
Nik is still in LA with his family and his mom is sick and keeping him close. way it goes. I'm too old for him and sick myself. I don't want to trap him into taking care of me after he was so good to my mom. i cried last night for my mom and daddy. I miss them so much. I'm just a mess. going to start up the Prozac again. I'm not ready yet. Takes a long time to recover from this. thank you ladies and dudes for being here. Life saving.
The Peggy commercials are funny! "Yes." "yes."...click. and the Capitol One commercials with the Viking/Visigoth Horde..."ROMANS!!!" Still waiting to see any new Babie commercials from E-Trade. "Milka What?"
We got a twenty two pound turkey to cook for three of us...But it is my staple so I won't complain... Now as for the weather...? That I am gonna complain about. It was well 10 today it will be 10 BELOW tonight! I hauled the ramp guys tools air compressor, lumber, nails AND screws :), pallet, concrete mix bags etc and shove em upright and into corners so my mom can park the 98 mini van IN THE GARAGE TONIGHT!...I don't expect em to work in this but we need to use the garage when they are not here...... Grandpa to dr for prostate cancer recheck, as it grows slower than anything else but sea sponges I don't expect and "news".
I hope everyone is doing OK when i read hurled oatmeal I thought threw it in anger...not removed contents of stomach via mouth....I HATE throwing up, I would a,most rather die...bleah awful feeling!! I hope you are doing better.
I hope Miz your pharmacicst make an effort bfore everything is lost in the rush for sedatives for the holidays...hmm maybe I could get one a them...??? Had the same thing with Liberty for Grandpas Diabetic Test Strips...Mom waited two weeks nothing...They "Have no record of the order..." that is funny I had the print out OF THE ORDER IN MY HAND! Yes, what ever.....If I get lost in the hassle that er' the Holidays I hope everyone has a peaceful safe time gets as much rest as is possible and doesn't have any extra burdens for the week any how...Thinking of you all and checking in, even if not writing...
hey Bobbie ~ I've had the crud for 3 weeks! Friend ended up in the ER coughing her guts out. Sore throat, aching, fever ... real pain & VERY depressing! Viral brnchial bug. Yesterday on a doc's adviced, I found some old Zithromax samples. Expired but he said try it. I did I am feeling better. Don't mess with it. I rarely get sick. This kicked on me bad. Couldn't sleep which added to mental misery & sadness. Gets dark around 4:30 here ...
We are having cold weather. Snowed yesterday. Seattle was a mess! Artic front came down from Canada. Bitter cold!
Today is bright, beautiful & freezing. My birdfeeders are working overtime! The Hummingbirds are really responding! Have to thaw the feeders every couple hours. Cats are going nuts at the windows. & in the snow! Especially the two who lived indoors at the retirement institution. Like little kids back outside in the white stuff! Serious animal instincts.
Yeah ... this depression is hitting epidemic. Even with the non-gare givers! Tough for so many people ... I'm used to solo holidays. Always chose to work them way back when ~ avoiding the traditional festivities. Family tension & squabbles. I do miss the double time pay for intervening in the fights. Now there is too much anger & fire arms ... Pets always enjoy the holidays.
oh oh ... a giant Woodpecker is eyeing the upstairs window where the birdfeeders hang. Time to offer peanuts ...
Cheers ~ the best you can cheer ... Rip, cozy, warm Sir & pets
I am in a Georgia sweatshirt. Warm ... Thanks Peach!!!
Yeah, Spokane gets the snow, Seattle isn't supposed to but when it does it shut the city down....with those hills it would have too. Hope things are good there rip.s
I remember a Thanksgiving many years ago when someone asked another how she could entertain after working all day she said when her guest came she gave them a glass of wine and they were fine I said I am one up on you when my MIL bothers me when I am cooking I have the wine well she bothered me a lot and I had a little too much wine-best Thanksgiving I had do not remember too much about it but no anxiety.
Jen ... was wondering about you! The local news is saying Spokane is having a major blizzard! Nowdays the news is on all the time in during these little 'winter events'. All these bright parka wearing newscasters standing on overpasses & at intersections shoving a microphone at the everday citizens. Often it's fun to see the newclips (the first or second time) when they find a hill full of sledding kids having fun.
Have you targeted any cross country skiiers yet? Is Mr Pants safe?
Hmmm see one smiling skier I am...no I will just look away and hope they hit a tree.! The snow let up around 9 AM here and the bitter cold is settling in the Vally. It is about 7 degrees now, mm brisk, gonna get really cold soon really cold. Windows covered, snow removed, blankets for car ready. Garage made ready! Soup for dinner, maybe for breakfast too...FP went to adult day health again, came home. at Urologist now, see what is going on there...Man. just cold here really cold....Time to watch Lawrence of Arabia....
