Hi everyone. We're expecting an inch of snow which should pretty much shut everything down for days and and hypnotize everyone into driving straight for whatever ditch they can find. Today was a difficult one of course, but mom wsn't really aware that her other children or grandchildren haven't called, and so I've just kept up the same old happy face that I always do. i sincerely hope it was only me who felt so bad about it all, It's just plain rotten, Mom never did anything to make them be so hateful towards her, niether have I for that matter, but again, I have to chalk it up to thier guilt and thier own bitter lives. As for me, it's just another day, but when they treat this fragile old women like this it tears me up inside.

Reflecting on the Past An old sea captain was sitting on a bench near the wharf when a young man walked up and sat down. The young man had spiked hair and each spike was a different color.... green, red, orange, blue, and yellow.
After a while the young man noticed that the captain was staring at him. "What's the matter old timer, never done anything wild in your life?"
The old captain replied, "Got drunk once and married a parrot. I was just wondering if you were my son!"
EEEwwww... Anyway, hope everyone will have a great Sunay! Love & bunches of hugs, Peach

Expecting lots of snow today into tomorrow, so i will be up and out in a couple of hours, get the salt for the ice, get the snow blower ready..... all that good jazz..... check in with everyone later today.... HAVE A GREAT MORNING ALL AND HUGS TO ALL angie
Welcome Cuz! As you've been reading, we've got our own little (big) family started here and we're glad you could make it by for the holidays! There will be plenty of b*tchin' and whinin' (and winin', but not for Bobbie) and also plenty of cryin' and laughin' and love, so settle on down and don't the mind the critters! -Bubba T.
An elderly Floridian called 911 on her cell phone to report that her car had been broken into.
She is hysterical as she explains her situation to the dfispatcher: "They've stolen the stereo, the steering wheel, the brake pedal and even the accelerator!" she cried.
The dispatcher said, "Stay calm. An officer is on the way."
A few minutes later, the officer radios in. "Disregard." he says. "She got in the back seat by mistake."
Seventy-two-year-old Edgar recently picked a new primary care physician. After two visits and exhaustive lab tests, the doctor said Edgar was doing "fairly well" for his age.
A little concerned about that comment, Edgar couldn't resist asking the doctor, "Do you think I'll live to be 80?"
The doctor asked, "Well, do you smoke or drink beer?"
"Oh no," Edgar replied, "I've never done either."
Then the doctor asked, "Do you eat rib-eye steaks and bar-b-qued ribs?"
Edgar said, "No, I've heard that all red meat is very unhealthful!"
"Do you spend a lot of time in the sun, like playing golf?" the doctor asked.
"No, I don't," Edgar replied.
Then the doctor asked, "Do you gamble, drive fast cars, or run around with sexy women?"
"No," Edgar said, "I don't do any of those things."
The good doctor looked at Edgar and said, "Then why the heck do you want to live to be 80?"
good morning, I got through christmas , reading most of the day, and am listening to the forecast for snow, snow, snow. We are only supposed to get 2-4" so not bad. The last time it snowed I was at the end of the driveway with my shovel, crying, and someone came by and offered to shovel (for money) but it was a little miracle. Can't think of anything else. coffee time ssk
I have been sweeping and vacuuming, balancing check books, etc. Hubby is out snow blowing, putting salt down, etc. We got maybe 4 inches.
Back to work tomorrow but it's a short week. I have New Year's Eve off. Wish I got paid for holidays. Oh well. You can't have everything.
I'm glad we all made it through Christmas. It can be very tough for lots of people. I told my mother-in-law how grateful I am to have them as my family. She was very touched and said they consider me one of their own. What a sweet lady. She is fortunate in that she gets along with all of her brothers and sisters. Her health isn't so great and I worry about her.
Yes, sskape, miracles do happen. I believe God sends his angels to help us.
I'm still not rested up. Wonder how long it will take.
My love to you, angie. I know what you are going through and it's very hard. I lost my dad at 87. Your mom is lucky to have you and I know you will make her feel loved and happy.
Okay, I am going to get some more stuff done. I broke into a sweat vacuuming so may rest a bit.
I hope we have all made through Christmas without too much grief. I have, and ready to go on to the new year.
mom has gone back to the old game of not wearing her depends (badly named, should have been ABSOLUTE MUST!) She's painting the town van dyke again. Woo-Hoo.
But I guess it's true that you do get used to it after a while (Think there's a market for bleach-stained carpets?) It's just so embarrassing for her, after an ACCIDENT, she just kind of walks around me trying to get my attention, but is too ashamed to actually say what the problem is. Reminds me of a well-trained puppy that made a mistake. It would be cute if it wasn't so NOT CUTE!
Just started snowing very heavy. Wish I could go drive into a ditch like everyone else around here. I think it's the local winter olympic sport. Someday I'll ask someone why that do that.
Just a quick note of thanks to TrueColors for caring. Ted for encouragement and your stars. Bobbie, Christina and GeorgiaPeach for your words of wisdom. And anyyone else I forgot to mention. All support is appreciated and very much needed! I know it's going to get harder before it gets easier. Angie, so sorry for your loss. Snow storm on the way. Off to make an essentials run for the parents then home for the day. Have a good day everyone.
Hubby just left to run a bunch of errands. I don't like being here alone. I suppose I will get used to it eventually. I don't really know what to do with myself besides laundry. Feeling a bit light headed. Gonna go lay down (like I said before).
Forgive me for not keeping up with everyone. THere have been over a 1,000 posts since I last read them! I don't know if I will have the time to go back and read each one. Angie, I did manage to see about your father. I am so sorry for your loss. I know it is a difficult time of the year especially for you, Miz and Bobbie having your first Christmas without your loved ones.
I guess I just withdrew a bit with all the extra pressures of the holidays, battling the long term care insurance, work, mom, getting boyfriend back to work, etc. Life just threw everything at once.
Mom is well though battling a lot of pain with the colder weather. She is like a little child all excitied about the snow today! Considering she lived most of her life in the tropics, snow is an exciting event. She also enjoyed having most of her family with her yesterday. My sis got an I-phone for Christmas so she was able to call mom and let her see her talking to her. Next best thing to being there.
I am going to get my st** together and be there for you guys again. I'll check-in on here and FB to keep up to date. With the family growing I'm not even going to name each one of you because surely I will miss someone.
Diane, Please don't worry about not keeping up. You were busy. Sometimes I'm just not up to it. I'm so sorry your mother is in pain but glad she likes the snow. That's a very good thing that most of your family was there or over the phone. That's so good for your mom I am sure. You stay safe and warm too. :)
Angie: I am very sorry for your loss but glad he is at peace as well...pup will probably be sad quite awhile it was his dog...?
Snow in Georgia local first time in over 100 must be unreal. Drive slow and turn into any slides when on the road!
Took flowers to cemetery slipped on an uncles polished marble headstone...man! OK, but sorer again..I mean why...
Heres: one. Mom gave me a hand written voucher for $100.oo for clothing purchase...those two weeks of having to rustle up my clothes for me and seeing how paltry and ripped the selection was may have done it for her..No wondered she was mad...so I made good on it before I opened it..Least then I don't have to wait...
She loved the robe I got her to replace hers...
Now back to broke...literally. her health insurance will be $300.00 a month...she is not gonna be happy.....Ah well, she never is...
Hope everyone had a good Christmas and are safe and sound where ever they are...
My yard is full of cardinals! It looks pretty with the snow and the bare trees. My boyfreind went out and filled the feeder again since they were running out of seeds. We have had about 3 inches of snow which is quite unusual for this time of the year in South Carolina.
If you've been focused on caring for your mom for a long time, and then it's over, it must be an empty feeling. It will take some time to adapt to the next phase of life. (I would think) Did your mom have bird feeders in the yard? The squirrels kept climbing up the screens ,so I stopped feed ing the birds.
