One of my earliest memories is of a day when my mom rescued a hurt bird a gave it the little sunroom we had in the back of the house and we would watch it through the door till it got better and flew out the window.
1) Do you know Lillian Jackson Brown? She is a mistery writer. She writes stories about a reporter. Qwilleran, who lives with a very intelligent siamese cat (Koko) who solves the misteries. There was one story about a Cardinal. Koko was friend of that little bird. 2) For my Facebook friends, I have just posted a video of us cousins dancing. It's cute
Ted, in general, you post on Facebook what you don't mind everyone to know, and you don't post on Facebook what you prefer to keep more personal. If you have to say something to a person, you can use the messages (and only that person can read the message), The wall of course can be seen by everyone is your Facebook friend... If you use Facebook with discernment is a very good way to keep in touch with people that are far away... I don't use it to speak to friends that I can call by phone... sskape, yes, it was fun. It is the annual meeting of the cousins... We always do crazy things like this one!
At the Nursing Home a man took his elderly father to a nursing home to check it out. He sat his father down on a sofa in the main aisle way and went to talk with the administrators.
The old man started to tilt slowly toward the left. A Doctor came by and said, "Let me help you." The Doctor piled several pillows on the left side of the old man so he would stay upright.
The older man started to tilt slowly to the right. An orderly noticed and put several more pillows on his right side to keep him upright.
The old man started to lean forward when a nurse came by and piled several pillows in front of him. About this time, the son returned.
"Well, Dad, isn't this a nice place."
The old man replied, "I guess it's ok, but they won't let me fart."
sskape, I am sure you are right. I feel lost and kinda like an orphan. I really really miss her. All this has me physically messed up. Losing weight and lower abdomen pain. I don't mind the weight loss but my hubby does. I'm still so tired. But I lay down and mostly just think. I don't know where we are going to live. I still have so much to do but no energy or will to do it. Black hole time today. This really sucks. Sorry, Everyone. I'm a downer today.
Ted, you are so funny! "BOAT, exciting and new; come Aboard, we're expecting YOU. BOAOAOAT, life's sweetest reward (next to caregiving, ahem); Let it FLOW, IT FLOATS BACK TO YOU!!!" or something like that, theme to the Love Boat Merry the day after Christmas everyone! Had a very good day, took care of Mother and opened presents and cooked breakfast and Christmas Eve dinner, and cooking Christmas Day dinner today because kids are here. Trying not to think, just "do", but eventually I was tired. Haven't read many posts here, so I hope all is well, but I believe a few are Christmas Angels over the last few days. Prayers and Blessings to those who are moving on, and much love and hugs to those staying here on earth. I was on FB for a while, but I did not like the format either. Not crazy about "strangers" being able to "see my stuff". But, if someone can convince me we are "safe"--what rossella said--then I'll join after next weekend. Fixing prime ribs and yorkshire pudding today. Will try not to drink too much wine, but I don't have time to think about it, OK?
There is a privacy setting on Facebook where you can only let your friends see your wall and other stuff. That's what I do. Also, you can block people from seeing your stuff and anything that you post. Stuff like that.
Love boat theme, Wow. I hope you had to google that and it hasn't been floating around in your head all these years!
You brought back a wonderful memory of the Yorkshire pudding my mom used to make, haven't thought of that in years, send me a recipe? It's just some kind of dough baked beneath the roast, right?
Yes Chris, join us! There are people who are on Facebook and just post recipes and photos. Nothing personal. Miz, it's too soon to feel better. It takes a long long time to heal. Everything you are going through is perfectly normal. One step at a time, to be able to really smile and be happy again. You are doing the right things (according to me). To rely upon the people you love, to try to live normally, is the best thing. But it takes time anyway.
Christina! make me hongry. sounds good; don't faint from working too hard.
Rossella! great cousin party I hear. good stuff
Flex! good to see from you!
I'm here fighting my own little black hole but that's how it goes. Like my ex used to say: Quit draggin yer cross. Yer screwin up the rug.
GP! great joke.
oops, got to go. computer in the middle of a scan or something.

The wind of blowing, the River is moving fast and the boat is rocking. chill factor in the teens tonight... not that big a deal to you Northern breeds. Thankfully the wind is on the bow and I have the pilothouse blocked off so the Cat and I are able to stay warm. If the wind backs on us, well then, diffrent story.
the Cat is asleep next to me here, there's a nice pot of lentil stew on the cooker
Ted, I am a vocalist, so I know the words to almost everything you can think of. If someone says a certain phrase about anything, I usually find lyrics in my head to a song. Drives me nuts, but it's me. I solved the drinking too much wine problem--I'm drinking tequila instead. Bundle up, Bobbie; and black holes are full of LIGHT! Really!! URTB ( you're the best). Miz, if you want to come to the OC for a visit, I have a guest room. You are WELCOME, and I mean it. I have a very aloof Egyptian Mau cat, who will share the bed with you:) Hey, why not? Ted: room temp 2 eggs, 1 c milk, 3/4 tsp salt, blend, then add 1 c flour in blender. Put 1/4 cup fat from the prime ribs into a 10 inch IRON skillet and pour batter from blender into it. Bake at 450 for 20 min. O M G. Back to the kitchen. Love you guys. christina
Good thing I got my clothes...the lack of income has mom now saying she will not be buying the cereal she likes anymore, (Cracklin' Oat Bran) because she can't afford it... I don't know which is harder going from well off (and I never have been) to less well off or going from poor to poverty... oh well, not likely she will give up the cable so I won't disappear. As fart pants watches the TV, and talks to it, he will pay for it!
It could be worse, we have food and shelter and the mortgage was paid off years ago...Lots of people don't even have that...
Start planning on looking for work in Spring when I am not in bootie...Can imagine a job interview while in cast that would be nuts...
Hope everyone had a nice holiday, and will have a good week...
nobodys going in the black hole and that is final ! ill put hot wire fence around it ! if i catch u near it ill spank you ! :-) bobbie , hope the wind doesnt change , stay warm girlfriend . u said my ex ?? uh are u and nik no longer together ? im sorry , i was hoping he come down and suprise u on cmas day , maybe new year ? miz , youre just worn out , maybe u should go see the dr tmr am and tell him that u havent been feeling good and get urself a complete ck up . as for a house , dont worry , get an apt if ya have to , theres plenty of apt s around , house for rent , look in the paper , or better yet just dont worry about it , let ur hubby do all the worries , u just kick back and say ok hon whatever hun . you have been thru so much , give ur brian and heart a break , let your husband do all the worries . i know it hard to do that . i am the ones that pays the bills and it is hard for me not to worry , when it got so bad i sit and talk to hubby and he ll step in and fix it . i wish he would pay all the bills and let me sit back and say ahh , but he has no clue . so im stuck with it grrrr . took a nap while colts game played , we won !! wooohooo . pa woke me up waa waa coughin gaggin , oh pa u need go bathroom noooo he says , oh hee haw came on , no wonder he dont have to go now . prob already went in his briefs , oh welll . ill change him when he s done with hee hawww.
jsomebody .. ur mom will realize that dad s gotta pay for everything including food and her takin care of him , she will start chargin him . other hand , im afraid if u get a job she ll prob charge u for room and board . or just grab ur whole paycheck . yes lucky the mortgage is paid off whew ! i think ive got about 4 more years to go , wont be long ! i cant wait ... you all have a good evening xoxo ps wheres nance and austin ?
I'm here Linda--having a pity party just for me !!Spent time out to the cemetary, talking to a wall. Got back in my car and cried_got home and cried. I feel so alone and useless-taking care of Mom was easier then not having her. Joining her would be so much easier-taking care of her was my life and theres just nothing to do now. I just wonder, how long does it take to feel ok with this lose, I know she is in a better place, but---
LOL Linda, you made me smile. I know I'm worn out. I know this will take awhile. I'm just damned depressed. I forced myself to eat a bowl of cereal for supper. Hubby does take care of the bills but he's not real quiet about it sometimes. Stresses him out too I guess. My fear about a place to live is finding one we can afford. They are all so expensive. Apartments and houses both. And, we have the two un-declawed cats. I am sure we will find something. We have to. Hopefully in a decent area.
Miz -be easier on yourself -it is very hard to go from exhausated caregiver to not being a caregiver in my case it was a relief-but I had already made the decision to have him placed and had been involved with medicaide but it takes a long time to get to feeling normal again and Linda and the rest will not allow the black hole girlfriend. The wind is howling and the snow is blowing we are having a fullblown blizzard-my dentist called and cancelled my appointment before I even called her office for tomarrow. Where is Crowe I will have to try and find his wall tomarrow-I am real worried about him-I have not been on any other threads in a long time-this one is so interesting.
An elderly couple walk into a doctor's office. The man tells the doctor, "Doctor, we want to have a baby." The doctor replies,"At your age I don't think it's possible, but I'll give you a jar, come back in a few days with a sperm sample." So the couple comes back a few days later. They give the doctor an empty jar. The doctor says,"I was afraid of this." The old man says,"No, it's not what you think. I tried it with my left hand. I tried it with my right hand. She tried it with her left hand. She tried it with her right hand. She tried it with her teeth in. She tried it with her teeth out. But we couldn't get the lid off the jar."
GP, you are certainly coming up with some great jokes! love it.
It's cold here on the St John's River and all the little heaters are running and the Cat and I are warm but not toasty. We both like warm AND toasty but this morning just warm but we'll take it.
hopefully moving the boat tomorrow. i woke up at 6am and realized that the bridge, which opens on demand, starts its day at 6am so we can leave before the dawn. The whole point is to be at our destination so we can dock before dark, find a place to eat and get a cheeseburger.
Maxine! hey there! Crowe is having a tough one, let him know that we love him.
Nance! I read your comment last night and thought about you a lot. I am so sorry that you are feeling so low. Please please keep writing. Is there anyone you can reach out to where you are? Do you want to come to the boat? You are most welcome. I know that you never answer me directly and I guess that's part of the pain that you are experiencing, but I want you to know that you are not all alone and that you are welcome here with me on this boat. It is very hard for us to heal if we don't let go of what's hurting us. Your mom would want you to continue on and find your joy.
That goes for you too Miz! I know you say to me: you can't go into the black hole, you have to stay on top. Waaaa, I love you. I would just like to take a little time and not be responsible for anything. I know that everyone knows what I mean. I'm still dealing with all of the business issues and boy am I pooped! hate papers!! I would rather a nice old fashioned visit from Miz! or Nance! or Rip! or GP! or Linda! you guys get it.
**just got a call from the Dockmaster and he has been made aware of the mean old dude that was wierd to me. Dockmaster said that he's a mean drunk and showed his ass in the bar the other night. (I think that was the night when he called me all kinds of names.) Dockmaster says I am more than welcome to return and that is good news because I would like to come back to this marina in the early fall so I can enjoy the city without freezing my buns off. I told him that dude kind of ruined my mellow Holiday vibe and he said that dude is as good as gone. A good dockmaster doesn't put up with any bs from anyone and keeps the docks and the restaurant a safe haven for deserving boaters. Act the fool and you will be told to leave. Thankfully they don't throw goofballs out so I am safe!
The Cat is bringing me stuff to hurl down the companionway and loudly complaining when I don't move fast enough. Wait for it...... And we now have Psycho Kitty, ping ponging off of every concievable surface, Heathen Lunatic! Around and around and look at that Fat Tail! In 5 minutes she will be fast asleep.
I heard from Rip and she still has that nasty bug that I had and a few others. Lingers on and on and Rip! I hope you feel better. sux.
So glad you guys are chatting on FaceBoat. I'm still laughing at how Jen wrote her appreciation of Ted's play on words.
Man, I need to scrub this boat and I don't wanna.
the Cat is not sleeping. She is hooking all of her toys out of her round thing with the hole in it and still being nutz.
OK, now passed out on the fridge in a big sunbeam. Maybe now I can try to vacuum her.......
