My Mother-in-law takes knives and cuts her toe nails, and digs them out, then puts them back in drawer. tips: hide them, also (if possible) keep a separate locked bathroom, where your personals can be safe from hygiene challenged individuals; you cannot hide everything; i know, i was doing dishes and found her teeth in them, many things to gross and we must not feel guilty, being disgusted or grossed out is unavoidable; it' like living with a giant Rat! Imagine their pain,(if they knew).

My Mom has used the nail brush to brush her hair, lens cleaning solution for hair spray and cortizone cream for toothpaste.

Linda, I saw your invitation from last night. I'm sorry. I was so tired and had gone to bed. Didn't sleep well though. Feel like crap today.

Diane - I agree with the thoughts on a videotape. It may be a lifesaver for you if the stupid turds who don't help you think of doing something legal.

Peach- we have an arsenal here, but I keep a Bersa Thunder 380 close at hand, a Beretta 22 in my bedside table, we have 2 full gun safes......pretty darn protected here. BIG prayers for your friend, I wish her well while she goes through this ordeal. I like your type of exercise, works for me! Keep a close eye on your wrist......"wild" kitty teeth not clean....:(
Hubby woke me up and said "FEED me".....well alrighty then....he has to work tonight, so fixed sausage gravy and biscuits, scrambled eggs...took a plate full down to COL and she promptly fed it to her fatty doggie and ate a rice krispie bar! ARRGGGHHHHH! I've noticed a trend lately where she eats lots of sweet stuff....is this normal? She is looking rather frail and droopy this morning. Guess I will clean kitchen and load dishwasher now so I can sit all afternoon and watch the Chiefs kick some Raiders behind....:)

Jam, yes that's normal. Sometimes their taste buds start to go and sweet is what they can taste and enjoy. i used to fix Mom these riblets with barbecue sauce and she ate them pretty well cause the sauce is sweet. Really though she would have lived on sweets if I had let her.

My mom likes sweets more now too. Miz, that makes sense about the taste buds. Were the riblets the meatless kind or the real thing? I've seen the meatless ones in Trader Joe's market.

sskape, they were the meatless kind. Morning Star makes them. She couldn't tell the difference.

Oh yeeaaah, yummylicious sweets is the schnizzle around here, and chocolate extortion is a most wonderful thing, I look at it as a finely made well crafted tool...God bless Russel Stover's ;-)

To be fair, Mama has always had a sweet tooth the size of a T-Rex, and I truly didn't think it could have gotten any worse as she got older.
Holy Smoke was that ever hard core wishful thinkin'!
Fortunately, years ago she taught me all the how to's of fixing all the family favorite she use to make, and since she doesn't have what I'd call, a bad appetite, I really don't have any trouble getting her to eat pert near anything.
Hmm, 'cept broccoli, gotta start talkin' smack about the proper utilization of duct taping human flesh to chairs & the joys of hand feedin', when it comes to broccoli (well, with a long stick as opposed to my oh so delicate flower petal like hands, I'm mean shes got some pretty sharp dentures, and ain't afraid to use 'em!).
Y'all know I'm foolin' right?...come on, gee whiz she's my Mama, I'd never use a stick.

I truly believe Broccoli is one of our wonder foods, and packs a gobs of nutritional punch.
Mama really digs a "cream" of veggie soup I make, so I put lots of broccoli in it...I put in a bunch of grated carrots too, that not only make it good, it's make it pretty, and since she does loves her some deeelicious carrots, not to mention pretty stuff, it's a real no brainer.
And it sure saves on the duct tape is what I'm sayin' :-) !

Broccoli is one of the best foods for you. Along with strawberries and blueberries and I can't remember what else. I love all three. In fact, I love most vegetables and fruits. Exceptin' onion and green pepper. Can't hardly drink orange juice since I got so sick on screwdrivers way back in college.

Guess I'll go make myself do some housework. The kitchen floor hasn't been mopped since before Mom went in the hospital. Eww. What I really wanna do is lay down.

Oh yeah, Mama is a dead serious bananaholic (I suspect 'cause they be sweet, but that's just my theory ;-) ),
I honestly believe they're what kept my girl kickin' for so long with her old crappy diet, when she was all by herself doin' due indulgence...she eats at least one 'naner each and every day.
Now I suppose it coulda been a few metric tonnage of them Snickers & Butterfingers chargin' her batteries, but no matter what she claims, I kinda have my doubts.

Mom had to stop the bananas cause her Potassium level got too high. I guess that can damage the kidneys or something. I think she was kinda sick of them anyway. I love them and so does my hubby. Hubby can't eat fruit cause it irritates his throat unless he drinks milk with it (that helps some).

I got side tracked listening to Kris Kristopherson and Martina McBride on you tube. I hope my mom likes my singing, she must think I've gone off my rocker!
well, I'm off to the store.

Hi, it's ok to feel the way you do. My mom has done several things that don't sit well with me, I have learned to keep extras in my house. I found that you can get pretty good deals at the dollar stores. I try to choose what things are going to get to me. If my mom was okay, she probably wouldn't pick the toothbrush to brush her hair.

I do love them banana's myself, but they make me belch, especially if I eat 'em in the morning, and banana's just ain't one of those foods that taste as swell he second time 'round, at least for me...now beer battered onion rings and good bbq, now that's a whole 'nother tasty tune, nip rip & repeat, now that's my bbqin' motto!

Speakin' of tasty tunes (and they don't necessarily have to make me burp you understand), Gimme Back My Bullets might just be my top Skynyrd (well you know, given the time of day)!
Maybe as it just so happens, tellin' pencil pushers to get outta my way, is kind of a little hobby o' mine...I mean it costs practically nothing, and it can be lottso big time fun fun fun for the whole family..well okay, some of 'em, those that ain't pencil pushers themselves that is..nor bean counters, I gots me a thing for bean counters too, ranks right up there with proctologists, not that they're bad people mind ya, I just got a...uhhh, thing :-)

I often wish you had thought to have that "famous" toothbrush bronzed. You've been told to throw it away so many times ...

It'd be a great conversation piece in the pilot house.

checked his hometown website. No weather disasters, etc. Hoping it's computer problems like Rossella, or he appears on Bobbie's dock.

I'm glad you were able to read the "true meanng of Bite Me", Miz. Those days were tough on all of us sharing your pain, recalling our own experiences. Poor AJ's arrogance really bit us hard.

You are dearly loved here!

rip, physically and mentally. I am going through a tough time dealing with Mom's death. I have regrets that I am trying to shake. What if I had done this and what if I had done that. Bobbie is helping me, bless her heart. I see the doc on Wednesday and he was Mom's doc too. I am gonna talk to him about it. I have a lot of trouble with guilt and obsessing. It truly sucks.
