Saw them. Beautiful!!! Mine are all behaving better and getting used to each other, well, except the female who was her first. She still b!tches at the 3 males and tries to get them in trouble all the time. I have pictures of her wearing a scarf a knitted for her last winter. I will have to post it on F/B.
Awwww, you guys are so sweet! It's nice to be remembered! Thank you!
I agree, Rossella, this is a really great, & unique thread where we are open to speak what's important to us at the time! Sometimes it's us who needs the extra help or encouragement or needs to vent & sometimes it's us making the offering! That's why we're good for each other! We are always there for whoever is closest to the black hole or the 'foxhole' to pull them back! And we're not all close to the having a meltdown at the same time, which is good! "It takes a village...!" And we've learned so much from each other being able to share! What issue one is having a problem with, another may know exactly what will work & make that caregiver's life, as well as the loved one's better! If it doesn't work, we appreciate the effort of the one offering the suggestion! They just want to help us!
We have addressed SO many issues on this thread! Venting, gross things, encouragement needed, encouragement given, black hole patrol, good ideas on caregiving, recipes, menu plans, jokes, puns, craft ideas, self protection gear, legal problems & suggestions, medicines, exercises, books, BOAT time, lessons of life & yes, being there for our online family at a loved ones passing!
Most of the time we're non-judgemental & even if we don't agree totally with someone, we'll still try to find something positive to say or change the subject! That's what family should be about...something that most of us have found here on this thread! No expectancies, just folks who actually care about what happens in the lives of those we're building bonds with! Like Rossella said, 'Sometimes we need more & sometimes we need less', but we know that the words & thoughts are coming from the hearts of those who actually care what we're each going through & in our own small way we try to make the other caregiver's lives better...easier!
I'm very glad to have found this site & very proud to have 'met' each of you! And I think you for putting up with me! We're mishpukhe...Yiddish for FAMILY!
Good morning all we are expexting snow in New York how is still up for grabs-it will be good to get back to the senior center -have not been there for about 2 weeks.
Hi, It's good to be a part of this group. Like peach said, when one is down the others may have some uplifting suggestions to help, or just be there because they are going through a similar issue. Just listened to the weather, too, and snow on the way for tomorrow. When I was a kid winter was my favorite season, sledding, skiing, skating, playing, now... not so good,, shovelling, trapped in side more, cold..although I still like the beauty of the white snow which blankets the land. I'm trying a new year resolution of "eating and drinking a normal portion" and have done it for 5 days, probably why I was crabby yesterday! We'll see how today goes. ssk
The following is a quote from Nance from her Going Nuts thread.
"I'll never understand why some people like to hurt others. I pray that I'll NEVER be one of them."
I also looked through Nance's hugs and saw that the ones that I had sent her had been deleted. Nice touch.
Another telling truth. go to Nance's profile and look at how many hugs she has given out. Exactly one in 2009 and one in 2010. Wow, there's a Compassionate Caregiver!
Georgia, I appreciate that with a family if you disagree then you change the subject, however, this has been going on and on.
I have had others tell me that we are made fun of on other's walls for acting like children because of the boat or whatever, but yet Nance constantly returns for support and we all reach out to help, including me. Many times. Nance has never responed to me directly when I've invited her to the boat or offered what I hoped were words of comfort and I figured, that's ok, she's grieving, she's sad, she's fill in the blank. I have made excuses for her when others have complained about her actions. After being sniped at for over a year by NANCE, I am choosing to take offense at her remarks and tone.
At the end of the day, I am just tired of being villified. Life's short. Nance, I am truly sorry for the loss of your mom and I am truly sorry that you still don't 'get it'.
I am mostly sorry that you misinterpret what we all mean to each other and that you can't share that because something in you keeps that from happening.
bobbie I support you 200%. Since I have been here I have had nothing BUT support from all of you and the boat is our oasis in the sea of poop, pee, diapers, and heartache that we endure 24/7. I for one thank you for offering to share that with me. If someone doesn't like the way we are there is a little red x in the upper right hand side of your computer screen.......hit it!
Hey Everyone, still internetless but wanted to check in, Hope all are well and feeling strong, I'm doing okay myself, trying to keep busy and sort out my mind. Bobbie, I don't know how far you've gotten up the ditch, but I want to make sure you know that I am still waiting eagerly for the arrival of the Barbara B, Please let me know your schedule? (Rip has my phone #)
I've read a few pages back and all I have to say is BOAT!!!!
I am trying to get caught up on what I missed last night......I was so darn busy texting back and forth with an immature 19y/o granddaughter who thought she had earned the right to lecture me because her mother has been filling her head full of garbage....by the time I finally yelled at her that I had ENOUGH for one night it was late and I was exhausted. For some odd reason my mother's death seems to have given 2 of my ungrateful, self-centered children the right to spew hatred at me, along with their cousins, and my life was just fine the last several years without them. They were attacking me through emails to my son and they kept harping on an "inheritance". Apparently they must be under the mistaken impression that since this is a medical household there is lots of money....hahahahahahahaha!!!!!! My son gets everything immovable and the things that sit on wheels....we are going to spend every friggin' dime we have! So there you bunch of harpies! Oh my I must be feeling better.............love ya'll
Good morning everyone! Guess I skimmed the infamous post and really didn't get it. Just reread it and GOT it! Sounds like a real anger issue going on. Can't figure out why, but it is what it is. I'm on your side Bobbie. Been over the coals myself in the beginning, but didn't take it personally. We all have our moments of brain cell loss, but this one takes the cake! Jam, now you are talking! Give 'em hell! They should all be ashamed of themselves! I'm with you, what inheritance? SSK, looks like we have snow coming our way. Keep warm! Ted, thanks for checking in again. Good to know you are feeling stronger! Miz, just missed you on f/b. How are you today? Hope you all wake up to a good day! Kathy

Well said, Captain! Words of wisdom! We already have way too much stress in our lives, than to listen to someone's condescending rantings! I really liked the way that you threw her off of the boat by telling her that she 'knows where the plank is: take a hike'! Thanks for taking care of the Crew! You're tops! : )
OK, I missed joke time this morning,so you guys get an afternoon delight...
A pirate captain was on the look out for buried treasure. After months of hard sailing, his ship caught sight of land, the land to which his treasure map had been leading. He and his first mate disembarked on the island to search out the buried treasure, which was supposed to lie hidden deep within a swamp at the center of the island. Sure enough, at the center of the island was a swamp, and the Captain and his first mate bravely entered the swamp. Soon the swamp began to get deeper, and the pirate's feet, then ankles, and finally entire leg below the knees was covered in swamp. It was at that time that the Captain banged his shin against something hard. He reached down, searched around, and pulled up a treasure chest. Prying the lock open, the chest revealed gold and jewels beyond imagination! The Captain turned to his first mate and said, "Arrrr, matey, that just goes to show ye, that booty is only shin deep!"
OOOuuuuuu...! AAwwww, come on...smile...it won't breaka you face! lol
