Jam, I'm bringing over my dogs and you can bathe them too for me...LOL Oh, gotta run and pick up the rest of my to-do list for this afternoon, yikes what a saturday. Lord, maybe you can give us two saturdays, one for chores and one for chores, ha!
God afternoon everyone, welcome seemeride, it's amazing how we all have the same sense of humor which non caregivers probably don't "get" . Well mom has perked up over the last couple of days. Today she has been awake and alert and able to say yes and no. It must be the spring weather, or the Boost energy drink I gave her. Hi Pirate, that IS scary about the nuclear stuff.! Here they are going to put in a wind farm off the coast, which has had to pass the regulations and opposition from those who would like to keep the ocean the way it is. I can understand both sides. It is going to be located in a fish spawning area, but the fishing draggers go over the area anyway, so it might end up being better for the fish. Bobbie, I'm so happy for you that your man is back in the picture. On my mind now is getting a ramp to get mom out of here in a wheelchair. I might look in Home depot and get some plywood. Just for temporary use. Hope all are ok today. ssk
Hi Folks, well the 25 minute butt-wipe is over, that is one task that will drive you literally INSANE, the never ending toothpaste poo, that comes and comes and comes...You want to know how many rolls I went through 5 ROLLS! I was screaming THE SHIT TRAIN never ends at one point...I hope the neighbor did not hear me,...LOL!!!!!!
Bobbie - I LOVE YOU TOO!
OH BY THE WAY...FOR MOLD SUFFERERS I FOUND A FANTASTIC PRODUCT - I found it at HOME DEPOT for only 4.97 I think. I am going to buy 4 or 5 more. It's called ' MOLD ARMOR'. It gets rid of yellow mold and black mold in seconds...I LOVED THIS PRODUCT....I LOVE THIS PRODUCT...it is the best product to date I have ever found...IT'S MIRACULOUS...TRULLY. I tried it first behind the area behind the desk in my old bedroom...and was astonished how fast it started working. If anyone has a mold problem go get a bottle of this.,.it sprays on like Windex...I can't tell you how many hours I spent rubbing with just bleach and this stuff knocks it out in seconds...trully I say unto you...lol...IT'S MIRACULOUS!!!
(I could be there spokesperson no problem...it's that impressive!)
miz - so sorry for what's going on - hope MIL goes sweetly-painlessly-sleepily on to the cloud world. Big hugs - keep up the stiff upper lip..big hugs!
Thank you all. I really enjoyed reading all your crazy comments. Haven't laughed so long and hard in a long time. I hope I can help keep the boat afloat for a while longer.
Hello Everyone. MIL is home in her room (actually the living room but that is where she slept) and with some really good team work we got it cleaned, furniture moved around, fresh bedding, etc. and it really looks nice. There is room for visitors and on either side of her for the nurses and there are pictures of all of us in there and her flat screen TV. She is sleeping now. They sedated her for the ambulance ride home but she woke up long enough to kiss her 3 year old grandson and that sure made her smile. I broke down, left the room and SIL was comforting me. What a sweetheart. This has been so hard on her. I am glad MIL is home and hubby and I plan to stay until at least Monday. He really wants to get the house cleaned up for his dad. I am working on getting the laundry caught up. We worked on cleaning the kitchen today. We're gonna be smoking in the un-detached garage now unless it's warm enough outside. I think we are all tired. Haven't gotten to bed until after midnight the last two nights. We will sleep at SIL's house tonight because there will be a nurse in the room with MIL 24-7 for now. It's really bringing I guess what you would call flashbacks of my mom. PTSS I guess. But I'll be okay. Just really sad.
K, gonna get after that laundry. More later. Thanks for your wonderful support.
After reading the comments here I see that I am relatively lucky. I am looking after my 90 year old mother...and the worst it gets is that I have to shout at her and repeat things...and show her how to open the same email a hundred times. I'm ready to explode after the 45th time of "Now, how do I answer somebody on Facebook?" The worst I've seen is a few episodes of her not making to the bathroom in time....but that's not the end of of the world.
stillstanding......BAD GIRL!!!! You're in time-out..............hubby told me to wait until tomorrow to bathe the col since I have been outside cleaning our "barn" all day.......it was tempting let me tell you....but I armed myself and got through it.......back is killing me...pain meds or rum and coke....oohhhh maybe both. I'm tough.
Left the care of col to hubby today since I was busy.....of course he saved the wet undies for me.....:) If I were faced with a 25 minute butt-wipe I would be grabbing the pillow......pirate gets the "Grossed Out Gold Star"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
miz......bless your heart I imagine you are near exhaustion....I know this is a rough time and I pray mil goes with peace.
Going to pay some bills now....and eat some leftover Chinese.
from poo to marble pound cake...enjoy...I am going to make this later

Their marriage was good, their dreams focused. Their best friends lived barely a wave away. I can see them now, Dad in trousers, work shirt and a hat; and Mom in a house dress, lawn mower in one hand, and dish-towel in the other. It was the time for fixing things: a curtain rod, the kitchen radio, screen door, the oven door, the hem in a dress. Things we keep. It was a way of life, and sometimes it made me crazy. All that re-fixing, re-heating leftovers, renewing; I wanted just once to be wasteful. Waste meant affluence. Throwing things away meant you knew there'd always be more. But when my mother died, and I was standing in that clear morning light in the warmth of the hospital room, I was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't any more. Sometimes, what we care about most gets all used up and goes away...never to return. So... While we have it, it's best we love it... And care for it... And fix it when it's broken... And heal it when it's sick..
This is true: For marriage... And old cars... And children with bad report cards. Dogs and cats with bad hips... And aging parents... And grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it. Some things we keep, like a best friend that moved away or a classmate we grew up with. There are just some things that make life important, like people we know who are special... And so, we keep them close! I received this from someone who thinks I am a 'keeper,' so I've sent it to the people I think of in the same way... Now it's your turn to send this to those people that are "keepers" in your life. Good friends are like stars... You don't always see them, but you know they are always there!
The U. S. S.. Constitution (Old Ironsides), as a combat vessel, carried 48,600 gallons of fresh water for her crew of 475 officers and men. This was sufficient to last six months of sustained operations at sea. She carried no evaporators (i.e. fresh water distillers). However, let it be noted that according to her ship's log, "On July 27, 17 98, the U.S.S. Constitution sailed from Boston with a full complement of 475 officers and men, 48,600 gallons of fresh water, 7,400 cannon shot, 11,600 pounds of black powder and 79,400 gallons of rum." Her mission: "To destroy and harass English shipping." Making Jamaica on 6 October, she took on 826 pounds of flour and 68,300 gallons of rum. Then she headed for the Azores, arriving there 12 November. She provisioned with 550 pounds of beef and 64,300 gallons of Portuguese wine. On 18 November, she set sail for England. In the ensuing days she defeated five British men-of-war and captured and scuttled 12 English merchant ships, salvaging only the rum aboard each. By 26 January, her powder and shot were exhausted. Nevertheless, although unarmed she made a night raid up the Firth of Clyde in Scotland. Her landing party captured a whisky distillery and transferred 40,000 gallons of single malt Scotch aboard by dawn. Then she headed home. The U. S. S. Constitution arrived in Boston on 20 February 1799, with no cannon shot, no food, no powder, no rum, no wine, no whisky, and 38,600 gallons of water. GO NAVY! **************************************
Hi back Austin! Welcome Jshous, Kimaz, Semeride. Semeride, you should do something to make your mother sleep in the night. (Mother, right?). You can't go on staying up all night, to take her to the bathroom. You can't do it for a long time. I found the right cocktail of meds for my mother, she sleeps in the night and she is awake during the day. This way, we don't get crazy, me and her. She uses diapers of course. Kimaz, Jshous, we are here just to talk about our experiences and not to feel alone in this ordeal we are going through. I have an Alzheimer mother who is declining day after day and it's very painful to see this on one's own mother. And my freedom is zero. If I have to work in the weekend (I am a translator) I have to pay for someone to stay with my mother, so practically I spend what I earn. It's irrational, but I can't lose clients. Life has become really complicated... you have to pay someone in order to work! Stay with us, you are going to have a lot of support, laughters, and which is most important, there are people here who can understand you. Pirate, good avice for the mold. I have to see if I find it here in Italy. Bye everybody else!
Morning Everyone......sun is shining and again I'm outside with the doggies and the geese are on the pond and I can hear a woodpecker working his way through a tree....and then the dreaded......yoohoo.....oh crap col is up...:) I stand and watch her squeeze her skinny little body sideways through her patio door...yes it opens allllll the way but for some odd reason she won't do that.....she starts singing to my chihuahua/jack russell, it's something Italian...tells me again how beautiful my little chihuahua fella is (of course he is!)....and I'm watching my blind poodle spinning circles because she is all turned around and can't figure out which way to go.. the irritated geese start to honk...do you think it was the singing?....... and I haven't had one single cup of coffee yet!!!!!!! It can only go up from here!
linda......bonnie has been on FB, but I haven't seen her out there for a few days......I am really worried about her....the tone of one of her last posts was not good. Does anyone know how to contact her?
Welcome Kimaz, Jshous.....here you will find humor, love, caring, understanding, grossness, woohoo's, support for whatever you need. I found these wonderful angels last Nov and they have literally saved my sanity. Helped me through the death of my mom in Dec. I have been caring for my mil, whom I affectionately call the col (crazy old lady) and her dog for over a year now (we built her a house attached to our house and accessible by a locked door in our family room :)....when you have the time and if you are able to get to some back posts you will read about all of us.....helps when we pop in with a story.
miz.......hope mil is having a quiet day. Thinking about you and mr. miz.
Seemeride.......woohoo.....hubby and I ride a GoldWing 1500....had it triked out for him last yr for his birthday....it's beautiful burgundy and a Piaggio which he loves to ride but it's a little uncomfortable for me on the back.
I wonder if Amazon.com sells the "mold armor"....heck they sell everything else. That's where I found the CitruScent and YES it works.....the col's house doesn't stink like it used to. When I took meds down last night I could actually still smell the citrus.
Going for more coffee now......and have a doggie trying desperately to get in my lap....she got in trouble last night for snapping at the blind one to take her treat away from her.....so we're begging to make up now....:)
I hope everyone has a peaceful day......did you remember to "Spring forward"?
Oh, thank you so much all for welcoming me. It feels great to come here and hear from you all already. It has been an incredible year and this news about mom's illness has just spun me out. My 17 year old was arrested last August for possession and my husband (his stepdad) left, saying he could not handle the behavior. Three days later, I went out with some girlfriends to unwind and got a DUI driving home. Terrible, terrible year. I already take care of mom, stopping each day at her house, she cannot drive since her stroke but has lived alone OK. Now with this news this week I feel just I am done. I feel like the whole world is crumbling down on me. I know that's not really true and that I will be fine and handle whatever comes my way with this diagnosis. But after watching my sister die of cancer I know how awful this road will be and with no partner at home to help me, I feel so alone. Sorry for venting all, thanks for welcoming me.

Bye everybody else!
linda......bonnie has been on FB, but I haven't seen her out there for a few days......I am really worried about her....the tone of one of her last posts was not good.
Love and Hugz to all!!!
Jam
