Well, I know it's late on the east coast, but it's 1 past cocktail hour here. Mr. Schitt, would you like your Martini Shaken or Terd? I'm tharry, did you thay therd? Would you like thalt on the rim, thir? Oh, thit. Not on a Martini, thtupid. thugar, maybe, cuz he likes it thweet, like a banana. right, King Terd?
Stillstanding, Lori and Bobbie thanks for the comments about my situation....newby. When I first started caring for my uncle he had peanut-butter diapers. I had to run in and out of the room while I cleaned him up.... But I did some research, changed meds and now he doesn't need diapers. I wish everyone here could avert the stench. Does anyone wear a mask?
careshare, that is a darn good idea!! Why did I not think of that?? I do remember suggesting the mask my husband had from the movie "Scream". ;) I had had some diarrhea splat on my face and was so totally grossed out. All kidding aside, that surely would help with the smell. I say it's worth a try!!
Careshare - How did you alter the meds? Sounds grand!
I was a swimmer so holding my breath is second nature... still! masks just reflect my coffee breath which has it's own icky quality. More about the diaper free meds???
Hi everybody you are in a great shape today! I have a mix of applesauce banana poop pee smell in my nose all together, right now! I wonder if I will ever be able to drink applesauce and eat bananas from now on.
Well, I don't know if it will help anyone. My uncle was put on celexa for depression. A couple days later, he ended up in the hospital with severe dehydration from diarrhea. I told the docs it was probably the new med and asked them to take him off celexa and put him on zoloft. They refused and didn't believe me. They put him on entocort to stop the diarrhea. The entocort gave him a perforated intestine that almost killed him. I printed out research about the celexa causing microscopic colitis and new doctors switched meds and he was able to stop the entorcort. I went back to just the basic meds, but to be honest there were so many he was on that I can't think of the ones I stopped. I also told my uncle that he needed to get some exercise, so I was going to hide his urinal and he needed to get up to use the bathroom. He was angry at first, but got used to it in a few days. Anyway, I do think the elderly are over medicated and some of their new problems can be from the meds. Of course, I don't think meds should be stopped without talking to a pro. It just happened that when my uncle got the perforation, he wasn't allowed any food or meds for days (except the absolute essentials). So that helped me figure out what he needed and what he didn't. There was some other med in the mix that caused him to have incontinence because he had been wearing depends for a couple years before moving in with me and now he doesn't need them. :)
Thanks Care ~ My dad weened himself off several meds simply by forgetting to take them. That was back when he lived independently & a previous doctor had him on several that even conflicted each other. He was doing fine with half doses of BP meds, without others. He spent a couple months in the hospital after major heart surgery. Almost comatode, hardly recognizing me, endlessly fidgitting. The old doc had him on several Ativan (sp) a day for anxiety. I started hanging around & watching - noticed his 'agitation' was really bad soon after a dose. Somehow those meds disappeared & one morning he looked directly at me & asked "What the hell am I doing here, Kid?". Heeeeeees baaaack! & has been for 13 years. The mystery of medications with each person. And the companies that profit.
I have to take my mom to see the eye doc again. Her eyesite is gong down the tubes real fast. She needs caterac surgury on her right eye and now her good eye is real blurry. She has a hard time putting her puzzle togather so tommorro I have to make an appointment for her. Also I went to Social Security Office today with the wife and as of the 1st of march we are both officially retired. Now I have to save up and go visit the BOAT. Love u all CUZ
Here's a good trick for the smell, vicks vapor rub! Dab a little under the nose. Makes it hard to smell anything else. Then wipe away when your done. A nurse taught me this trick years ago. She said it was what they gave them in nursing school when they had to work on cadavers. We used it dealing with some c-dif. I have carried it in my pocket before. After years of working in pooh you learn to turn your smeller off when you need to without thinking.
All, that reminds me when I was really young and had a cold, mom would put that vicks on my chest and then put a tee shirt on me! I hated it but mist admit, slept like a baby! LOL
All, gee thanks, I forgot that was the first place she started, LOL going to check in on the parents and try to get more than three hours of sleep, nite sweetie...
Good Morning, I'm up drinking coffee. Just noticed your new boat pic, bobbie. That deck looks like a great place to be! Hope you are enjoying the morning. I'm going to do my usual walk and see what the day brings. lov, ssk
Ted oh I meant Mr. I apologize for my last comment last night, I was tired and got carried away,,, it was INAPPROPRIATE. No harm intended ...hugs to you today,
Good Morning, Everyone. Just checking in. MIL slept most of the day yesterday. It's really hard not to be there and not know what is going on all the time. We plan to go back up Saturday morning. My BIL's wife and their little boy have to go back home to Texas that day so she can finish school and will not see BIL for like 6 or 8 weeks. They will be moving up there in May. I am looking at houses online up in their area. It would be nice to be close to a loving family. Love yous!!
Good Morning....just checking in to see how everyone is doing.
linda... I'm here sitting on the bed with the ice bag on my back....getting better slowly but surely, can't sleep on my right side, too much pain....shouldn't anyway because of reflux, but sometimes ya just gotta turn over. Vegas in 3 weeks....this back pain damn well better be gone!!! Left you a message on FB this morning.
Tried to keep up with everyone yesterday.....what a tough act to follow!
miz.... glad mil is getting some rest....sleep will probably be what she does most...at least there is comfort in knowing that if she can sleep well, the pain is at a minimum.
Took blind doggie outside this morning and could hear col tv blaring.....my she's up early. Hubby says she's on the couch so I imagine she will go back to sleep for awhile. It is so hard dealing with her right now, but I am the only one who can change her and today is bath day! I don't want her to know my back is messed up so pain meds and away I will go. She has the tv up pre-hearing aid volume, can't figure it out. I make her change batteries every 5 days, that's as long as they last, I just changed the filters and cups a week ago. She had them checked a month ago and everything was fine....doctor adjusted them a little but they worked great so don't know what the problem is. Last week I was trying to talk to her, she finally turned down the tv and when I said something else, she pointed out that I was yelling.....ya think so old woman? I have to yell to be heard over the volume and it's a little hard to just turn that off......my switch wasn't working....:) Oh I think it's all just like everything else...she gets an idea in that empty little head of hers and it sticks. She will see something on tv about taxes and start hounding me again about getting hers done and paying her quarterly payments and I will go through the whole thing again...they are done, I pay them, blah blah blah. Thank God she has finally stopped talking about Charlie Sheen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She hasn't kept me up-to-date about Lindsay Lohan or Oprah either....OMG!!!!! And I just renewed her subscription to the National Enquirer for a year.....she ought to be just thrilled and I should be beaten with a big stick!
Supposed to be 68 degrees today....going to sit outside....glider is still covered up....but I will have hubby drag a chair outside if I have to!
Ladee, i love you, you couldn't offend me if you tried. I have trouble with my internet connection and last night it conked out in the middle of our little bit of fun, (It was fun, wasn't it!!?)
So, today started with mom getting VERY confused about the whole depends thing. She made a mess, and then put anpther depends on over the old one, then I stepped in to help and she got tangled up in the two of them, trying to take them off.... Ok, she's cleaned up (thenk goodness for baby wipes) and wearing a fresh nappy,
It's funny that I never wanted to have children, yet here i am doing this. at least I don't have to send her to college, oh, wait, this is costing more than college, isn't it. oh well.
a good day to all, great weather here so i'll be out digging in the garden.
