I think I do have what you had yesterday, Christina.
Look at this ............. '~' How's that for a wink? ~ I'm gonna use that cause I an't wink for real anyway. Eyes not that coordinated. Wish I could make a musical note.....One more floor to do.
Wow took me a while to catch up reading the past 5 days. I loved the cyber-weed. You guys are too funny. Spent last weekend moving more stuff from our old house and moms to the new house. We pulled everything out of moms attic.......holy crap and crap and crap. A big eye opener. We have so much to do yet to get the houses on the market it is overwhelming. Thanks for the laughs, smiles and tears.
Just got back from the local support group meeting. Word must be getting out because it was downright crowded. 2 hrs once a just isn't enough, barely get to know someones name let alone they're story and then bam, time to go. see ya next month. But it's a good source of local resources and stuff, and we did finalize the retreat in May, should be a chance to get to know some folks around here, and the Area agency on Aging is sending an elderlaw atty if we want to talk with them and other "Pros" (!)
It's gonna be at this great compuond on the beach and will be a nice little mini-vacation (FREE!) for me and mom. I can even run home to take care of the pets!
An old friend who I lost track of was there today, she cares for her husband who suffers brain cancer. was good to see her.
Hi everybody! I was reading your posts, my posts, and I was thinking that we are a group of crazy kids! This is a compliment. It's not a criticism. I might be wrong... Kids who have to fight with big problems!
Hi, all, Just want you to know my day was productive. When I get upset I clean, and you guys are so addictive I don't get much done. When you dust with a VACCUUM cleaner.......That is bad!!!!
Sorry if I offended anyone with this mornings post. Some of my own powerlessness about my situation is building. I have to go to a Orthopedic Dr. Am looking at at least another 9 fricking weeks with a cast, not a knee brace and I do not do setting very well. I do not do depending on others very well at all. The mess with my son reached a boiling point today and on top of finding out how much longer I am going to be stuck in this wheel chair, I had my very own meltdown today.... Unlike Ruth I did not hit anyone, I broke no bones, but I screamed in my car on the way back, until my throat hurt. I cried until my head hurt. I am not done with my poor me pitty party yet. Can't poor me a drink, so I gut it out and get on with things tomorrow. I hate being dependent on anyone.... a lesson being learned and I am not liking it.... so sorry if I splashed with impatients this morning... and it is my turn to whine....
Ted, they are keeping Ruth in the NH until I can take care of her. That is a relief to me, something I had been stressing over, as I know they do not want to pay to keep her there. Oh well, If I had a choice in this insanity, I would be up and doing my job. And I miss Ruth. Have to go thru so much crap just to get to the NH to visit her, and yet take care of myself. Thanks Lori, giving myself permission to stand at the edge of the black hole and NOT jump in was a test of my stamina today. I am going to get some Harley Davidson patches to go on these ugly slippers I have to wear. and as Seeme said I am going to trick out my cane. so suggestions welcome. I am not a flower, foofoo girl, so save that. But I want it to make a statement... Lead me, follow me or get the f^^K out of my way..... Will know in a while if I am going to have to have surgery and a brand new cast.... I'll send pictures. Especially of the "group cane"......thanks for caring about an old lady that is just damned independant for this kind of crap.....
Ladeeta Chaquita Bonita, You couldn't possibly have what I had yesterday, and Seeme has it today. Yikes. sorry--something's going around. More cyber weed, Please. I would gladly clear the way for you and your cast, through any door. How about a tri-footed cane, with black and red streamers, and your HD leather jacket, Red OBMAJ Tee shirt? More cyber tequila. Whoo Hoo! Rosella!!!Bella:) to paraphrase an old Gloria Steinum quote, when told she did not LOOK 40 (OG, please): "This IS what Caregiving looks like!" claro? There are many faces, and they are all tired and slightly delirious. Except if you're a beautiful, exotic Italiano, si? Graci, Bella, Bella, Bella!! Oh brother. Have to go to Home Depot with Hubby. Then meatloaf and mashed potatoes and broccoli. and wine:)))c
Hey, guys and gals..."KT" the "kat" here...just wanted to pop in and check on my new "besties!!" (AND to those of you I've NOT met yet, but want to!!!) On major "Mama Flo" duty tonight...Randy on "firefighter" duty tonight--he's catchin' a break, right? LOL...so, am busy doin' all our "night-time" stuff!!! If I can....will get back with ya'll after a while. Gave one of my clients today the website to join us...not sure if she will. Her Mom is in her 80s but still living on her own...but she is still only one here and responsible...I told her to join us and "shouted out" to her (and some of my closest!) about you awesome people!!! Wowza! I'm totally stoked that I "stumbled" across you a day or two ago...my lucky day...was lookin at a gazillion things to choose from...ya'll got me...hook, line and sinker (of course I'd use that since hub is a bass fisherman!!!) All take care...I care...and I will be back!!! Meow!
Ladee--My suggestions were from decals my Hubby got for me.I haven't seen my helmut in so long, forgot which one I actually put on it. I think there is an 'iron butt' patch----Where you have to ride 1,000 miles in 24 hrs and show gas receipts to proove it. There is also a little license plate, but I couldn't figure out how to mount it.
On a more serious note.....Where is Pirate? She was pretty bad off
My help has arrived, so it is bedtime. If I wake up weepy tomorrow, I'm gonna double the lexapro and hormones and chase it with a lortab. That will fix it or at least I won't give a schitt.
Just a quick note here...have any of you ever met the "Schitt" family??? I have!!! Wish I knew how to share it with you...nite all!!!
Seemeride--sounds like you're havin' a "time"--ugh!!! Sorry for you..for everyone...for all of us...wowza...you just go on and take whatever it is that helps you feel mo betta!!! I am all about it, my friendgirl!!
Just wanted you to know I am here, but for how long I have no idea. Just received some bad news regarding my own health. I have no idea who will care for Mom and Dad while I deal with this. Thanks everyone for your support......ladalee I have no idea how I would have made it this far with out you. I love you all and keep fighting the fight.
bonnie - i will always think of you and ure in my prayers . wish we know whats wrong with u . vent out , cry if you want to . we all admire you , kt welcome back . i am so tired , almost midnight here . ladeeda . i wish u a speedy recovery , gosh wish it never happen . why me why me !!! my back s allmessed up ,sometimes i have to becareful how i move my body , sucks .. jsomebody- we will be worried sick about you ! ure very important to me .. i havent been feelin too well either , spring fever , allgery makes me not want to do anything , feelin feverish all times , i hate em . everybodys quite tnite - prob in bed like i should be , goodnight folks xoxoxo p.s. yes i m wondering about pirate , where are you ??
Hey friends, another crazy day of life. :) Picked up mom from the Care Center to take her to surgeon's office for follow up and to remove stitches. She still gets confused and can't remember why she had surgery, etc. That is really worrying me. She isn't normally like that. Got her lunch and then back to the center. My brother calls me after work and says she completely has forgotten that, says no one has fed her for 24 hours and is mean as a hornet. Sigh. We are hoping to have her back home in under a week and then the real fun will begin. Meeting with oncologist next week. Then I came home after work and drug tested my son and we sat down and wrote a contract for behavior and specifics of what happens if he breaks rules. Sighhh. I am the creamy middle in between the two hard sides of the oreo cookie. :) Oh, that sounds good, with some milk...
Bonnie, Ladeeda, Kima... I'm so sorry. It seems that we get out of a mess and we immediately jump into another one! I hope we continue to have a little bit of strength. Christina, my face is VERY VERY VERY tired.... My cousin Franca wants to take me to Paris for 3 days because she is worried for me... We'll probably go there at the beginning of april. I can't wait! I really need to forget everything for 2 days.
You know what Rossella , I think we all forget that we are human beings , not just human doings...There is so much going on in this world, extra stress and worry. and we need to love each other more now than ever. I am happy to hear you are going to get a little vacation. I am grateful you have someone in your life who even notices that you are tired and need a break. If I was rich, I would fly all over the place just giving my AC friends a break. Just repeat that process until we were all feeling human again. All we can do is be present for each other, laugh cry vent, send hugs and encourage each other. God , I am so tired tonight. Love ya...
Kima, I would rather be taking care of my crazy Ruth than be raising any more kids... My son is about to take it one step too far and he is 41, and if that ain't sad I don't know what is. Tell your son Chaquita is fired up, tired, frustrated, and he does NOT want me to come have a " come to Jesus " meeting with him. Straighten up son, You do not get to do things without paying consequences and be held accountable... so there.. good luck and let us know if he gets it together... hugs across the miles..
OK...I feel like I am WAY out of ya'll's loop...I think ya'll are awesome and you've got a GREAT thing goin' on...but ya'll are light-years ahead of me as far as knowing each other and what's going on with each other...not so sure that I could ever possibly catch up. Not havin a pity party...but I'm "just sayin'" truthfully...ya'll are all into each other's stuff and know each other...I'll just keep bein the "fly in the wall" (or the kat in the korner???)....I'm not a tv person (don't have time!!!)...not a "soap" person...just tryin' to survive...one day at a time...just like the rest of ya. I just think you guys KNOW a lot of about each other...and I know nothing...so I can't follow your conversation...it's OK!!! Ya'll keep on holdin each other up, up, and up. I thing ya'll have a GOOD thing goin' here. I'm gonna keep checkin' in with yas!!!! I'll shout it out to ya every now and again...I just don't think I am "fittin" into your "clique"...I'm runnin' two businesses, my husband is working, am trying to run the household AND be the main caretaker for my precious MIL who is on the "slippery slope" and regressing day by day. Funny...I went on-line to simply check on "sleep patterns of the elderly" and. by golly, look where I was led...to a fine bunch of folks faced with the same "stuff" as we are...thanks for welcoming me "into your world"... I'll be checkin' back from time to time and will have all of you and YOURS in my thoughts and prayers as each day passes...Warmest regards to all of you!!! Meooooowww!!! "Kat"
Ktrafnel, I guess it's impossible for you to read 10.000 posts to know more about us. So I suggest every one of us tells Ktrafnel his/her story in some lines, so she can get more oriented... My name is Rossella, I live in Italy and I take care of an Alzheimer mother who came to live with me two years ago. Before, she lived in Rome by herself. She is declining day after day and she doesn't remember a thing after 2 minutes she has said it, or we have said it. She would like to go back to her home village to see her parents who died 40 and 50 years ago. We live "alone" with 4 dogs and many many cats, in the country, and as I work as a translator (from home) I have 2 girls who help me (one in the morning, one in the afternoon) but I am tired anyway.... My brother comes to visit my mother every 3/4 weeks, so he does not help a lot, but at least when I need an advice he is available...This is my story in two words!
kt.......my name is JoAnne, I live in a rural area about 30 miles SW of Kansas City. I take care of mil; she was living alone in Independence,MO, her husband died in 1997, her daughter died of diabetic complications in 2008. After that she went downhill. She will be 87 in June and her name is June! She went out everyday to the store to make sure she had a bottle of gin, which she emptied every day. Consequently she was a falling down, slobbering, slurred speech drunk each day. She was also falling, one time off her 4' high concrete back porch onto rocks and narrowly avoided impaling herself on a rose bush. She was peeing all over her house and the mice, by the hundreds had taken up residence. We started building an 800 sq foot home, attached to our home, for her. Moved her in Nov 2009...her first night here she had a stashed bottle, got smashed, took a weeks trip to the hospital for mental care and I have taken care of her since. And her dog, which is a Yorkie and now weighs 22 lbs, she considers a child, feeds him her food and won't let outside to pee very often so I get to clean that also. She has dementia, is argumentative, forgetful, the whole gamut. I am retired with a neck and back disability after 25 yrs as a paramedic, my husband just retired after 30+ yrs as an ER physician. Okay, that's my story.

I am okay. Family is okay. We are just all very sad. This is such a good family. Got through the last two days...wake and funeral. Just feel kinda empty I guess. I am glad that all of you have been enjoying yourselves on here. It's such a good stress release. I feel kinda out of it right now but I will be okay and back to posting.
