bobbiet.....thank you for being my voice of reason....yes I do tend to forget that the lost brain cells will never regenerate...they are gone and the abilities they controlled are also gone. It's like when I asked her yesterday if she had fallen and she replied "yes I did, at 1015" that was the address of her old house that we moved her out of over a yr ago....she always calls it that. We knew she had fallen, that's why we moved her! Now I check her head to toe during bath time for more bruising. Don't know if we will be able to get out today or not..our wonderful neighbors spent the whole day yesterday shoveling....we have a shared driveway, odd set-up, their little house is south of ours...anyway she and 2 of her boys shoveled about 1/2 mile!!!!!!!!! One of the boys even cleaned out a path so we can get hubby's car out of garage. Mine is sitting outside.....never moved the smaller motorcycle to the barn for the winter. The plan was to have the oil, etc changed for the winter.....reckon there will be lots of time now to get that done. Don't know that we will get out to do lunch today.....so freezing cold, about 4 degrees right now and the sun is shining....supposed to have heat wave this weekend, up to 30! Everyone stay dry, warm and safe and enjoy the day God has given us.......Hugz!!!!!
It's 6:30a here on the First Coast and the coffee is soaking in the French press, the Cat has been fed and I am sitting here listening to the my cousin Vinny train rumble on through. Been raining here like crazy, the lower bands of what everybody else is dealing with. DEEF!! We are all loving you and the fact that you played in the snow instead of working in the snow! thass right... Linda! hope you got enough firewood in. I remember when I lived in my cabin, all heat was from the woodstove and when it was going to rain, man you would lay up some wood so you didn't have to try and burn the wet stuff. kiss your Pa for me and everybody. Georgia! good to see from you and Why you up so late??looking forward to seeing you guys down here! True! sux about the job and I too am glad you have some other prospects for at home employment. Rossella! how are you doing my beautiful Italian lady? Maxine!! you are the best. I love your posts! thanks for being here. SSK! selfishSib and Jen and WOW loved hearing from RIP!!!! brb coffee time.... Ya, Linda!! BobCoffee. zoomzoom. I'm worried about my Cuz. i know that he's got major mom stuff and my Aunt is a total sweetheart. I know his wife's mom is not doing well as of last contact. I keep thinking about a way to have a family reunion with this family here online. My Cuz and the family around him are family reunion professionals! I got to go to a few when I was a kid and they stand out in my memory. i would always sit next to my cuz. the logistics of that would be considerable but if we started thinking about it just a little now....
Jam! man I am a hater when it comes to corruption in business, gov't., a hospital... my respect to your husband and you and that's why I need to see a bone poking out before I'll go to the hosp. I am way too well informed about the crap that goes on and watched them try and kill my mom when she went to the ER for bleeding from a tooth extraction. If I hadn't been there she would have been dead. AND they weren't students. These were the war horses of the unit and dumb as dirt. God save us all.
Jam, the Aricept is working and you are seeing the benefits but they are probably not what you expected. I know you know in your professional mind what is happening here, but it is really easy to lose that when you are face to face with it. The disease is progressive and all you are doing by trying to teach or make her aware of stuff is driving yourself nuts. She can't learn and believe me, from experience, it is easier to accept that than try to change it. (Aricept.. I accept) Sure, she might be able to pick something up and do it for a day or so, but trust me, save your sanity. I had to learn that the hard way and I'm just trying to save you some pain if I can. you're a good daughter and you have not even been able to grieve because you have been going going going. just breathe, drop the dog off at the vet, change the diaper and have a cocktail! Can't wait to meet you one day Jammie!!
Boy the rain is coming down. I checked the weather and knew this was coming but it will be in bands...so rain then nothing, rain then nothing. I have open caulk seams on the foredeck and they are covered with plastic. So far I have been keeping up with my boat manager job of a work day on the boat. Body's a little sore, but hey.. it's exercise! i guess.... This boat is a work in progress and I hope that Miz and Peach and their husbands have a good time when they come. At least I have a good feeling that they will come and not be mean to me later!!!! Ahem.
Did you guys see the thread about the 6K per week hospice care? another thief and liar in that family. awful and sad.
I bought a scratching pad for the Cat yesterday and she used it right off but really loves the cardboard it came it. been tearing it to shreds all morning.
OK, the morning whistle will go off in a minute and I have to be ready for.....? whatever guy with a tool bag walks onto this boat. oh... if only I had come here first instead of the boat devil in the last place......
love you guys and more later. please please be good to yourselves today and if your demented charges say something untoward to you, tell them: it is NOT ok for you to talk to me like that. Then give them a cookie!
Bobbie was post #9500...BOAT TIME FOR OUR CAPTAIN!!! How cool is that?!?!
Jam, glad hubby's head is healing good! Pretty cool that you were able to take care of it for him! Sorry that the CEO is being a jerk! I think you should mail him a roll of toilet tissue...you'll know why & it'll drive him nuts trying to figure it out! : )
Rip, good to see you posting! Loved the great signs email! I've seen a few that I wished I'd had my camera with me. Love you, Kiddo!
Jen, Linda thanks for your concerns about me. I'll be ok! Just still fighting the same battle. Now at day #52! Waiting now for ultrasound results. Looking forward to going to see Bobbie & Miz! The motion of the ocean & getting to be with caring family will make me all better!!
Linda, glad your PA is doing better! Hope you're warm, now!
True, sorry about your job. That bites, but I'm glad that you have leads on others that you can do online!
Deef, LOVED your video! I really needed that laugh tonight! Looks like you guys had a blast!
Rossella, you're so right about Egypt! Times, they're a changing! I really feel for them! Pretty dramatic life to live for them!
Christina, if chocolate is involved, ou can believe I've got my head up & my mouth open! lol Very sweet of you to do that!
Miz, day after tomorrow you'll be on the boat!!! Time to water ski with the dinghy! zoom zoom lol
Diane, hope you're feeling better!
Bonnie...would love to hear from you!!! How are you?!?!
kuli, ss, ssk, austin, ted, pat, pirate, cuz, ddotal, did I miss anyone? I hope not!...hope you guys are all safe & sound, as well as the rest of the crew!
Hope all of you are sound asleep & getting your much needed & deserved rest!
austin, that kind of back-stabbing stuff goes on all the time....the ceo here is just a little turd.....he will have the backs of staff doctors....but will throw an er doc under the bus. I give the ER 3 months before a major lawsuit is filed.....it's going to be a mess. Interesting that the nursing staff in the ER already knew he wasn't going to be back. But he's just fine with it all....he's ready to retire. He will go to a retired license that way he can still take care of family and friends. I plan on running for a seat on the Board of Directors when one comes open and if I can manage to get elected look out....I will be after that little turd's job. The bosses of the company that employs hubby offered him a position in their wound clinics...they know he wants out of the hassle of the ER....but he is looking forward to being home. Income will be cut in half but with everything paid off we should really be okay. If we can sell our lake house I will be ever so much happier, at least it's paid for and the only thing we have to pay is water and electric and that's about $50 per month. Checked on col and she had put herself to bed for a change, but didn't turn off the tv in the living room so had to go over how it operates again to make her tv in the bedroom work. She just gets more and more clueless everyday.....I don't know how long she has to be on Aricept to notice a difference, if there will even be a difference. Couple nights ago she started questioning me on how many children and grandchildren I have....so explained that. I told her tonight that we were going to Applebee's for lunch tomorrow and she usually turns somersaults when she gets out....today it was like oh well that's nice. I noticed a couple of weeks ago she has a bruise on her left knee, last week's bath time, she has a bruise on her left boob and today I asked her how the bruise was feeling and she starts rubbing above her boob saying it was still sore....hmmmm not the area I was talking about.....slowly finding out that she has fallen at some point and cannot say when or how. But I do know she and hubby are mixing like oil and water......so guess I will have to run interference whenever he goes down to visit with her. He is a very impatient person.....gonna have to learn to undo that a little bit I'm thinking. Gave him the good news tonight that since he's retiring I won't always have to go to Wal-Mart or anywhere else by myself.....:) Going to bed now.......sleep well everyone and have pleasant dreams.....Hugz!!!!!
Hey!!! Decided I had enough shoveling and went sledding instead! When we finished cleaning out the cars this afternoon, I told my daughter that I wished we still had the snow tube to slide down the huge snow piles. She reminded me that her old plastic sled was in the cellar. Well you know that I wasn't going to let the chance slip by,so... We got the sled out and climbed the 6 foot pile along the fence and kept going down with the sled until we had a good run across the yard . Lex's hubby decided to video us having fun and now you can see the video on my Facebook home page. I may be turning 60 this year, but this old girl still likes to play in the snow!!!!
Jam I thought it was only in this part of the country that Hospital CEO's were cluless we had lost some great docs because the way they were treated our hosp. was never doc friendly so the little bitty medical group across the street now has 20 buildings in 3 counties and make it easy for pt.s to schedual tests the group even have same day surgery and urgent care-your hubby should sue them-I know that is a new York thing but he should-wait until they are short of ER docts and call him in -hope he tells them BITE ME
IRISH TRADITION Paddy, had long heard the stories of an amazing family tradition. It seems that his father, grandfather and great-grandfather had all been able to walk on water on their 18th birthday. On that special day, they'd each walked across the lake to the pub on the far side for their first legal drink. So when Paddy's, 18th birthday came 'round, he and his pal Mick, took a boat out to the middle of the lake, Paddy, stepped out of the boat ...and nearly drowned! Mick just barely managed to pull him to safety. Furious and confused, Paddy, went to see his grandmother. 'Grandma,' he asked, "It's my 18th birthday, so why can't I walk 'cross the lake like my father, his father, and his father before him?" Granny looked deeply into Paddy's, troubled brown eyes and said, "Because your father, your grandfather and your great grandfather were all born in December, when the lake is frozen, and you were born in August, ya dip shit!
rip!! You made my day just seeing you on here. :))
I haven't posted today cause I am so tired and hubby was doing stuff on the computer. He got our taxes done...God love him. Then I went to work. The paper never closes. Hardly any customers. I helped a lady with a Happy Birthday with photo in the classifieds and she was so nice and appreciative. Made me feel so good.
I've been working on getting packed and deciding what not to take. The house is a filthy mess but I'm not gonna worry about it til we get back from vacation. I am so grateful the weather is supposed to be good Saturday and hope everything goes smoothly. I know I'll be exhausted when we get to the boat but that is okay. We got time to sleep. :))
We're gonna have Mom and Dad's burial on May 14th. Man oh man, I thought it was a good idea to wait but now I don't know. I'm afraid it will bring it all back. For those who don't know, they were cremated and we saved Dad's ashes until Mom passed. They will be buried in a cemetery in a town southeast of here...about an 1 hour and a half away where my dad is from. The headstone has been up for a long time. They took care of that. We we will have a small burial ceremony. I might wear Mom's wedding dress. It's not your typical wedding dress. It's a shortish dress with flowers. I wore it in a high school play. Don't know if it will fit me now. She was pretty thin then.
K, I'm gonna go get me something to drink and put my jammies on. I'll be back later. Love yous!!
we have gotten snow here ever year we have lived here and not just one time and not just floating in the air all the way til easter if you look on the map at the weather channel you can see where i am look at louisiana then where it touches mississippi got it ok then look at the sm body of water in the toe of the boot of louisiana i liv 60 miles north of the little body of water that is lake pontatrain not the gulf the lake the only further south you can get is in florida all of that area is my home stomping grounds as for snow aside from driving cross country this is the most i have seen in my life in this area on a regular basis it ahs been every year lik i said sinse katrina 2005
Thanks for the encouraging words bobbie.....told col last night that if she doesn't start taking better care of doggie, then we will just have to take him and care for him......I was having my own senior moment....she is not capable of taking care of herself, I don't know why I keep thinking she can care for him. Now with hubby home he assures me that I will not have to handle everything myself anymore. We'll see......I've already warned him he will not spend his days sleeping around the clock.....there are a lot of things he can do around the house that he has put off on my son since his work schedule was so crazy......his idea has always been just to pay someone else to do it....well not anymore bubba!!!!!! col was eating earlier, so now is definitely bath time..........wish me luck!
Good Afternoon Caregivers! Working on the boat and watching you courageous women handle your business. My respect. love you guys a lot. Jam! hey. is there any way (after you can drive again between storms) to drop the dog off at the vet to get his oil changed and give all of you a break? including the poor dog... Too much. too stressful. and mom will adjust. that's important to know. Mom or Dad will adjust if you make a change in their lifestyle that makes it easier on the whole household. they'll gripe and have a panic attack and and and, but they will come around with patience on your part. The disease gets everybody, not just them. Everybody gets the fallout and you've adjusted, so why not mom? or dad? Poor dog, he'll lay around at the vet and get better and then she'll have another shot at killing him when he gets back. Poor Jam and poor husband's skull. Snow. Wow.
Miz! where are ya? She's doing her thing like Linda says.
SSk, wassuo and true, you are amazing with what you're doing about getting some justice! Selfish Sib! isn't it time to hand out the Valentine's Boils? Christina! thank you again for the chocs. you are a sweetheart. and way to handle the shoutouts!
GP, c'mon, check in and you know we're all thinking about Rip and Jen and Flex, and always Pirate and I'm so glad that Maxine (Austin) is here and and and.
Ted!?! where are ya, son?
Headbanger! What you are experiencing is normal for the stress you are under. If he understands that it's a stress reaction he may be cool. We are not necessarily wired to do this kind of work. If we were, more of us would be in the health care field and look at Jam, a stone cold pro and it's hard for her! This is tough! That's why it's good to gripe, vent, blow off steam...have a hizzy fit, throw a wheel, run it in the ditch, hit the dock. If provoked you might even shave your head, get something pierced and get a tattoo. I did buzz my hair. Not a good look for me. Not much is a good look for me.
Angie and Jam and Miz and those who's moms or dads have gone on only recently. And me, it happened to me too.
Kuli thanks for your posts, love them! and where are you ddotal? Where's ol Pat the Hat? He wrote so well about his mom and their adventures.
I want to hang around some more but I have to get another coat of varnish on the bench out there before it gets too dark.
you guys are amazing. Thanks so much for us all helping make this a family. which brings me to CUZ! Where are ya? how is yor mom and j's mom? and our uncle? Are you overwhelmed with anything? or jus busy. holler at a cuz! AnyHoo, miss ya and so does everybody else!
True: does that usually happen? Snow in Mississippi? wow. Rosella, yes, the world is in upheaval. We are helpless, but to love and stay with our families. Jam, so glad your husband is healing. Big Hugs:) Sweet boys to help you. The winds are up here in So CA. Making all those scary sounds. Earth is acting up...
I watched USA weather on the news tonight. It's terrible! Maybe only in Australia it is worse. (And in Egypt, for other reasons!) I am worried for you all. I hope it's going to finish soon (the bad weather)
Looks like everyone is getting through the day just alright. Trying to clear paths out....didn't get as much snow as forecast...only got about 18"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our neighbor boys cleaned our driveway so hubby can get his car out.......that was so sweet of them....bought them McDonald's gift cards last time, not sure what I will get them this time. Maybe FairyTale brownies....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Hubby's hard little head is healing just fine. Got word today that the CEO of the hospital wants him off the schedule NOW. Hubby won't play their little games.....won't turn on other doctors, won't play yes man, so after 22 yrs they want him gone. Fine....don't need them, he is retiring on a leg disability....he's happy and that's all that counts. The company that employs him told him earlier they will pay him through Feb.....nice paycheck for sitting on his behind. 90 days before disability takes effect.....it's all good. Bath time for col.....she has been argumentative and noncompliant. Finally had to break down last night and tell her that her doggie might have cancer on his butt and that's why she can't feed him people food. Told her earlier she needed to clean him and she said she did with water and scissors.....omg I thought this won't be good....he is bleeding in the same place as before. So after col bath, doggie gets bath. Sucks to be me today.........love ya all....stay warm and dry and drink something with lots of alcohol...:)
LInda Heart:) Yea, we'll all be there someday! Whoo Hoo!! Bobbie busy on BOAT, yes. Miz ironing, packing, getting tan enough--haha--in prep for REAL tan, Peachie getting her ducks in a row--doncha think? Pedicures, and all that jazz. Hey, Lindaheart: somedays I ask, "Is it 5 o"clock yet?" all day long. But I wait. sigh. Pa is better, yes? You rest today and let hubby keep busy, waiting on you, too. haha I love it when that happens! heehee Headbanger, just make some hot tea with lemon and honey and sit with Hubby and enjoy your time with him home today:) You go go go, and don't think just to get through the day, right? Hi everyone! Passing out the hugs for those who are stuck in horrible weather conditions and to those who are just trapped in routine conditions.
I am so mired in routine I could cry. My husband stayed home feeling ill today, his presence during the day has upset my applecart. I'm so stuck in Grans routine that I can't seem to adjust to him being home. What is up with that?
After losing power for so long last week our house was thankfully spared from the dire weather that was forcast for our area. In spite of predictions, we still have blue skies outside.
Take it easy on yourselves! Watch those precious backs if you must shovel and take frequent breaks.
So glad Pa is better, Linda, and Hubby took care of him for you:) You rest today and everything will be taken care of, OK? Sue: thanks for Groundhog info!!! All I know is Bill Murray movie, and that guy cracks me up just looking at him! Hubby was in a golf tournament with him once, but hubby does not know ANY celebrities, or cares for that matter!!! hehe Once he had a meeting in Hollywood "with some guy named Denzel, or something like that, and another guy named Joe (Jackson), I think". He is too much. He's Grounded. TG. Where is everyone? I hope safe, warm, not shoveling, not without electricity... Love you guys:))) Hey, Peach, Miz, Captain: See's is on it's way to first destination, and will be there on the 4th, so Peach--head's up. I was so happy when the order was complete and knew it would get there on time, I started crying, and the See's lady on phone asked me what was wrong. I said, nothing, I am so excited for my friends to get together on the BOAT, and so happy I can share with them in this way. She said, "Wow. Caregivers are such special people". I know. AND, Mother slept until 6:30, was in a good mood, and went back to sleep until 8:15, and I got my bills paid and my desk cleaned up, and coffee all finished before I went downstairs. Thank you, God. Blessings and WARM hugs to all of you under snow. Early Spring--OK, we'll take it. Pirate, Chillout, CC, Headbanger, Jam, LINDA, ELIZABETH, Miz, Peach, Rosella, TED, SSK, Angie, Selfish Siblings,JEN, MAXINE, and last, but not least: Courageous Captain:))) LOVE, christina
Hi all, yes, the groundhog didn't see his shadow. Early spring! yeah. glad to hear your pa is doing good today, linda, my mom is also doing good. smiling, now is snoozing in her chair. Just raining here. hope everyone is doing ok today lov, ssk

Georgia! good to see from you and Why you up so late??looking forward to seeing you guys down here!
True! sux about the job and I too am glad you have some other prospects for at home employment.
Rossella! how are you doing my beautiful Italian lady?
Maxine!! you are the best.
OK, the morning whistle will go off in a minute and I have to be ready for.....? whatever guy with a tool bag walks onto this boat. oh... if only I had come here first instead of the boat devil in the last place......
love you guys and more later.
please please be good to yourselves today and if your demented charges say something untoward to you, tell them:
it is NOT ok for you to talk to me like that.
Then give them a cookie!
lovbob
"Just to establish some parameters," said the professor to the student from Arkansas, "What is the opposite of joy?"
"Sadness," said the student.
And the opposite of depression?" he asked of the young lady from Oklahoma.
"Elation," said she.
"And you sir," he said to the young man from Texas, "how about the opposite of woe?"
The Texan replied, "Sir, I believe that would be giddy-up."

Paddy, had long heard the stories of an amazing family tradition.
It seems that his father, grandfather and great-grandfather had all
been able to walk on water on their 18th birthday. On that special
day, they'd each walked across the lake to the pub on the far side
for their first legal drink.
So when Paddy's, 18th birthday came 'round, he and his pal Mick,
took a boat out to the middle of the lake, Paddy, stepped out of the
boat ...and nearly drowned! Mick just barely managed to pull him to
safety.
Furious and confused, Paddy, went to see his grandmother.
'Grandma,' he asked, "It's my 18th birthday, so why can't I walk
'cross the lake like my father, his father, and his father before
him?"
Granny looked deeply into Paddy's, troubled brown eyes and said,
"Because your father, your grandfather and your great grandfather
were all born in December, when the lake is frozen, and you were born
in August, ya dip shit!
Love yous!!
miz
True! I'm off to look at the map!
love you guys,
lovbob
and not just one time and not just floating in the air
all the way til easter
if you look on the map at the weather channel you can see where i am
look at louisiana then where it touches mississippi
got it ok then look at the sm body of water in the toe of the boot of louisiana
i liv 60 miles north of the little body of water
that is lake pontatrain not the gulf the lake
the only further south you can get is in florida
all of that area is my home stomping grounds
as for snow
aside from driving cross country
this is the most i have seen in my life in this area on a regular basis
it ahs been every year lik i said sinse katrina 2005
ssk
AnyHoo, miss ya and so does everybody else!
lovbob
wow. Rosella, yes, the world is in upheaval. We are helpless, but to love and stay with our families.
Jam, so glad your husband is healing. Big Hugs:) Sweet boys to help you. The winds are up here in So CA. Making all those scary sounds. Earth is acting up...
OH BOY WE GONA HAV FUN NOW
I am worried for you all.
I hope it's going to finish soon (the bad weather)
You rest today and let hubby keep busy, waiting on you, too. haha I love it when that happens! heehee
Headbanger, just make some hot tea with lemon and honey and sit with Hubby and enjoy your time with him home today:)
You go go go, and don't think just to get through the day, right?
Where is that pile of snow to stick our heads in? Hugs, christina
Usually I can't wait for him to get home at night, I'm just puzzled by how I feel about him being home during my turn at grandma watch.
LOL that is too funny about making him go to work...if there isn't any work tomorrow he needs to find somewhere else to go during the day *snickers*
Have a good one!

/huggles
Sue: thanks for Groundhog info!!! All I know is Bill Murray movie, and that guy cracks me up just looking at him! Hubby was in a golf tournament with him once, but hubby does not know ANY celebrities, or cares for that matter!!! hehe Once he had a meeting in Hollywood "with some guy named Denzel, or something like that, and another guy named Joe (Jackson), I think". He is too much. He's Grounded. TG.
Where is everyone? I hope safe, warm, not shoveling, not without electricity... Love you guys:)))
Hey, Peach, Miz, Captain: See's is on it's way to first destination, and will be there on the 4th, so Peach--head's up.
Pirate, Chillout, CC, Headbanger, Jam,
LINDA, ELIZABETH, Miz, Peach, Rosella, TED, SSK, Angie, Selfish Siblings,JEN, MAXINE, and last, but not least: Courageous Captain:))) LOVE, christina
