Rossella, I have such wonderful memories of spending time with this friend. She was very good to me as a child. She says she wishes I was her daughter. She never married or had children.
Yes, Miz, you are right to be close to your friends! And yes, when my brother goes away, he always says he finds mother in good health and good mood! Anyway, he is intelligent enough to understand that it's not her normal condition and he believes me when I tell him that in general things are not so rosy... Jam, I remember very well that your MIL or COL liked shopping so much, that's why I was worried she would learn too well to do shopping online! But, if it is under control, it's okay!
Rossella, long walks with the dogs and laying under the sun sounds wonderful!! When hubby and I go meet Bobbie I want to take some long walks. I miss walking a lot. Isn't it weird how our moms can turn it on for visitors. Then the visitors think it's not as bad as it really is. I know Mom did that when my brother would come. I think it wore her out though. Mom was always sweet though so I can't complain.
I went and saw my friend and I am so glad I did. She has been sick. I told her that I had a feeling I should come today and she said God works in mysterious ways. He sure does!! :) She's such a good soul. She just gets depressed and upset with some of the workers that are rough with her and says they keep it too cold there. We had a good talk. I will go visit her more often. She said just come for ten minutes. I know it helps her to have company.
Jam, I hope you got your nap. I'm glad COL is happy today. :)
oh no rossella I will never turn the col loose with a computer. We tried several years ago to teach her to use one and she could just never get it. so I do it all for her. I stopped taking catalogs to her because she was making long lists of clothing and ordering everything by phone and she hasn't worn 99% of it yet. She stays in jammies usually during the day. I made her get dressed today because she was looking like a frumpy old crone. after bath she put on a nice blue chenille top and jeans, made her leave her hair up, told her it was a little damp. her favorite color is pink, but she looks so pretty in blue with her white hair. she will have herself looking frumpy again I'm sure. I must have missed your post about your mother....I am glad she is doing well. Isn't it funny how they act around different people? i have looked at all your pics on Facebook and fell in love with your doggies. i would have them all if I could......but I would soon run out of room...:)
Jam., I hope your COL does not learn to do shopping online too well!!!!! i'm afraid you have put a weapon in her hand! I want to thank everybody who asked about my mother's health. Well, I think she is just depressed and she has nothing serious, because when whe went to lunch with my brother today, she was happy, chatty, she ate, she walked, she caressed his face.... When I took her back in the afternoon and we went to the supermarket, she sat (in the car) with a gloomy face and said : " I am a poor woman" "I am a poor old woman" "I am a poor old miserable woman" (every time she added an adjective!) After 10 minutes I smiled and I said "Mom, I am glad that I always get the best of you!" and she did not reply because she understands these remarks, still! Anyway, my brother, who is smart and useful when he wants, gave me a couple of good advices and so I am much more reassured now. The routine has started again! Up, up, up we go! The weather continues to be fantastic, but the forecasts say that cold, rain and snow will be back in a few days. So next days I plan to take long walks with the dogs and lay under the sun!
Hi everyone! Hope it's been a great day for y'all.....:) It sounds that way for miz.....just came back upstairs from "beauty day" with the col. Took her bath without a moan or groan.....didn't do hair today since she still has a little head stuffiness. Took the laptop down and showed her how easy it is to sit and do shoppy-shoppy right from the living room. She's just a happy little thing with new perfume and face cream coming and she was just so pleased that they (amazon) carry the exact brand of what she is almost out of!!! And for those of you who don't know about it try soap.com.....there you will find products that are way cheaper than Wal-Mart with 2-day shipping and it's free over $25. Cuts way down on the load I used to carry from Wal-Mart. Now that the hard work is done and the col is in a good mood...clean, dry, and has her Sunday paper think I will throw a load of something in the washer and then........maybe a nap....:) Hugz to all!!!!!!!
SS, it felt good. In fact, after going to the grocery I am actually hot. No coat coming home. I went 5 minutes longer than I been going. I get impatient so I'll probably have redness tomorrow. Ah well, it will turn to tan.
I REALLY should go see a friend of mine in a nursing home this afternoon. She has no family close by and I grew up across the street from her. She was always so good to me. I'm tired but I got this feeling I need to go. So, I think I will. I'll be back later. Love yous.
Christina - same with my Dad. When he takes his anti-psycotic pills, he'll chill but helpless. When he doesn't his meds, he's mad as hell and that's his old personality. As Rosanna Rosanna Danna said, "if it's not one thing, it's another!!"
Have a chill day everyone! Miz - tanning? awesome, sounds good!
Well I feel much more rested today. Gonna go to Target, tanning, and the grocery store. Wanted hubby to go but he got up real early and worked and now he's tired. I hope you all are having a good day. It's cold out there in my neck of the woods. Better start the car and let it warm up. Love yous.
Morning Friends, Must be champagne brunch time back east and south. 7:30 here in CA. Mother still sleeping, both hubby and I got good night's sleep. I woke up briefly from shoulder, then back to sleep. Mother was lovely until bedtime at 8 pm. She goes to bed every night at 8. She is tired by 6:30, but she stays up until 8. After cg got her ready for bed and gave her meds, she began acting up. "Well, I don't like to be told what to do. I want to decide when I go to bed, and I'm not ready". I think she's feeling better. Yes, this is her old self, before dementia set in. So, we got her up and no matter how we appeased her, she wanted to argue. So, she kept it up for an hour. I had already gone to bed an hour before that because I am coming down with same ailment my husband had for 2 weeks. We got her back into bed, as she finally said she was ready, then she protested the covers. They were too heavy, and before, she was never warm enough. Finally I said, "Mother, I don't feel well. CG got you ready for bed when you said you were tired. You don't have to sleep, but you need to stay in bed now because everyone else is going to bed. We can talk about changing your schedule in the morning when everyone is rested. I'm sorry you're upset. I love you and I hope you sleep well". She was reticent. Oh well. I am not responsible for her emotions. I provide the very best of everything for her. So now, we enter another phase. You give up one thing and you get something else, get rid of the pharmacological effects, and you get her personality back.
A young couple met with their pastor to set a date for their wedding. When he asked whether they preferred a contemporary or a traditional service, they opted for the contemporary.
On the big day, a major storm forced the groom to take an alternate route to the church. The streets were flooded, so he rolled up his pant legs to keep his trousers dry.
When he finally reached the church, his best man rushed him into the sanctuary and up to the altar, just as the ceremony was starting.
"Pull down your pants, whispered the pastor.
"Uh, Reverend, I've changed my mind," the groom responded. "I think I would prefer the traditional service."
Mrs. O'Donovan was walking down O'Connell Street in Dublin, and coming in the opposite direction was Father Rafferty. "Hello," said the Father, "and how is Mrs. O'Donovan? Didn't I marry you two years ago?" She replied, "That you did, Father." The priest asked, "And are there any little ones yet?" "No, not yet Father," said she. "Well, now, I'm going to Rome next week, and I'll light a candle for you." "Thank you, Father." And away she went. A few years later they met again. "Well, now, Mrs. O'Donovan," said the Father, "how are you?" "Oh, very well," said she. "And tell me," he said, "Have you any little ones yet?" "Oh yes, Father. I've had three sets of twins, and four singles, ten in all." "Now isn't that wonderful," he said "And how is your lovely husband?" "Oh," she said, "he's gone to Rome to blow out that darn candle!"
Little John attended a horse auction with his father. He watched as his father moved from horse to horse, running his hands up and down the horse's legs, rump, and chest. After a few minutes, John asked, "Dad, why are you doing that?" His father replied, "Because when I'm buying horses, I have to make sure that they are healthy and in good shape before I buy. John, looking worried, said, "Dad, I think the UPS guy wants to buy Mom."

So after landing my new job as a Wal-Mart greeter, a good find for many retirees, I lasted less than a day....
About two hours into my first day on the job a very loud, unattractive, mean-acting woman walked into the store with her two kids, yelling obscenities at them all the way through the entrance. I said pleasantly, 'Good morning and welcome to Wal-Mart. Nice children you have there. Are they twins?' The ugly woman stopped yelling long enough to say, 'Hell no, they ain't twins. The oldest one's 9, and the other one's 7. Why the hell would you think they're twins? Are you blind, or stupid?' So I replied, 'I'm neither blind nor stupid, Ma'am, I just couldn't believe someone slept with you twice. Have a good day and thank you for shopping at Wal-Mart.' My supervisor said I probably wasn't cut out for this line of work.
My oldest son sent me this one tonight. How can I reply to this but say thanx

The teacher asked little Johnny if he knows his numbers.
"Yes," he said. "I do. My father taught me." "Good. What comes after three."
"Four," answers the boy.
"What comes after six?" "Seven."
"Very good," says the teacher. "Your dad did a good job. What comes after ten?"
"A Jack."
