Thanks for the ideas guys....guess the last thing I do after tucking her in for a while is turn off the water. She's back on the couch watching tv, such as it is without her ears in. Hasn't eaten and says she's not hungry...no coffee, just a cup of nasty looking hot chocolate. Can't get her newspaper due to all the snow...so she just sits and sleeps. She is very weak and frail.....I don't think she will last until Spring.
Deefer - I'm in the northeast. Just can't give specifics cause one of my siblings is so twisted, I'm afraid they will find me on here and twist everything around. This one calls my parents and complains about life, bills. So helpless. But my first priority is protecting my family cause I know this one's going to sue me when it's all over cause they are so desperate for money. Jam, Turn the shut off valves for her faucets at night. Under the sink, behind the toilet? Mom used to do things like that until we put her in a wheelchair full time. It's never ending! SS, 17", where are you located? I have 6 sibs, and get very little help too. That only happens when I beg! Seems like the only one we can count on is our self and the people here who are dealing with the same stuff as us.

Hi all! 17" new inches of snow here! Yes, Bobbie, this time I said "of snow"!!!! LOL Reading about all the misunderstandings here, so sad. I don't know who Secret Sister was or is but I just wanted to clarify, my name is also SS, Selfish Siblings. As in, I have two siblings who do absolutely nothing for their homebound parents, and do not check in with me. They are the most selfish people I can think of, waiting for the hand out. So anyway, that's me. Every day I pray for strength in handling both Mom and Dad's physical and mental needs. It's extremely hard to manage both with all the doctor appointments, meds, groceries etc..., raise two teenagers and running a company to boot. I have written off the two lame excuses for a sibling who have abandoned their own parents. F**k 'em. And I thank you all for letting me vent.
Last night the col beeps me on the intercom and tells me to turn on all the water faucets because the water will freeze tonight.....told her we don't have that problem but I would be right there....sure enough she has every faucet running full-bore in her house....I shut every thing off but her kitchen which I left at a teeny weeny dribble to make her happy. Then put her to bed and she keeps saying "they said so". Well I don't care what "they" said, we don't have problems like that. So I go down this morning to take her coffee and change her pants and there are all the faucets running again........God spare me............now that she thinks that's the thing to do, she will get up in the night and turn everything on. I'm not sure how to manage this.....any suggestions?
Anne, Nipping this in the bud sounds like a good idea before something bad happens. Does he have dementia? He definitely has a problem, or he is just very lonely and misses your mom. Talk to his doctor about the situation. Maybe he can suggest something.
Mother died 20 years ago and since then, my father has been in one fantasy relationship after another. He convinces himself that one younger woman (usually in their 30's and he is in his upper 80's) is his close friend. He has attached himself to women's church ball teams, has attached himself to teachers when volunteering at our church and the latest is that he thinks that a waitress (married with 3 little kids) is his close friend. He gives these ladies money (gave a missionary 600.00 for a seminar since she was his "good friend" ), gives excessive tips, and the latest is that he wanted to give the waitress one of my mother's vintage coats from the 60's (made in London). Two weeks ago, he insisted on going to the diner and he took the bus back. Being in the cold, he developed a nosebleed and ended up in the E.R for 5 hours (I was with him and had to take the day off next day and for two days it was doctor after doctor). While he was in the E.R. he advised me that if anything happens to him, please call "the waitress" because she cares about him. The waitress is 33, has kids and husband is a cop. When he was better I told him that I will not go along with his nonsense. I told him that NOBODY wants a friendship with somebody almost three times their age and that he needs to see a pastor, a counselor and not go back to that diner again. I told him that I would gladly take him to senior groups, church functions (even though he has embarrassed me with his gravitation to younger women in my church). I told him that I will not take him to that particular diner anymore and I am not going along with this nonsense.
Good morning Linda! Already have 12" of snow here. I just went out to take pictures of my birds. Going to put them on my facebook page. Good luck taking Pa to doctor. drive safely! Must be crazy going out in the middle of a Nor'easter for bird pictures, but it is beautiful out there! Took a couple pictures just to show how much snow is out there. Now I have to change out of my wet sweat pants. Rolled them up, but they still got covered in snow. Love it!!! Time for more coffee. Think I'll make some cinnamon. How many of us out there have snow today? And how much?

I didn't have any help for 4 days, and when the vna came in I ended up complaining so much that they are now sending a cna 6 days a week instead of 5 days. I'm going to make sure I get out of the house while thay are here. Even an hour break helps. And I'm filling out a respite grant form to get someone to stay here for a few days when my sons visit so i can get out then. It's through the alzheimers association. I always wanted a car starter too, miz. A friend who just got back from Florida had to buy a sweatshirt and jacket while visiting. Hope you stay warm enough bobbie! later ssk

There was this loving grandfather who always made a special effort to spend time with his son's family on weekends. Every Saturday morning, he would take his 7-year-old granddaughter out for a drive in the car for some quality time -- just him and his granddaughter.
One particular Saturday, however, he had a bad cold and really didn't feel like being up at all. He knew his granddaughter always looked forward to their drives and would be disappointed. Luckily, his wife came to the rescue and said that she would take their granddaughter for the drive.
When they returned, the little girl anxiously ran upstairs to see her grandfather who was still in bed. "Well, did you enjoy your ride with grandma?" he asked.
"Oh, yes, Granddad, it was really wonderful. We didn't see a single asshole, blind bastard, dipshit or son of a bitch anywhere we went!"
We're getting more snow but it's very light. VERY cold here today. I wish I had one of those cars that you can start from inside so it would be warm when I leave work.

I can't tell you how good it is to see from you! the boat will be out for almost 3 weeks and at the end of that she will have a new bottom paint job, bowthruster and the odds and ends that need to be addressed will be fixed. It is VERY exciting! The yard guys will be coming in the next hour and we will all drive the boat to the yard where we will be put into a slip to wait our turn for haul out. Yes, I will be staying on the boat for the duration and thank God next week is going to be a little warmer because with the boat out of the water, even with a 3.5" hull, she would be colder in the wind on jacks than she would be in the water. We had an issue with the foremast because of the 10' VHF antenna on TOP of the 43' above the water line mast so the yard guys dropped the antenna yesterday so the boat can get under a bridge that's between us and the yard.
SSK! hey kiddo, freezing?? no birds to be found except frozen butterballs. It's cold here too but nothing like what you guys are experiencing. the coldest December on record here and I come along and park a boat. Nice.

She wanted to get on and tell them what she thought, but she has already been attacked on here herself and if it happened again I would have been way too angry, so I would not let her. Miz is not an idiot. She is a dear, sweet person who has just lost her mom. She has behaved as a true friend to me. I don't think that there are idiots on this thread or any others. HEY NANCE,JUST DROPPED IN TO SAY HELLO. Hope you are staying warm. My daughter was sure impressed with you for standing up to the stoning crowd. She wanted to get on and tell them what she thought, but she has already been attacked on here herself and if it happened again I would have been way too angry, so I would not let her. She was studying Germany and the Nazis-she asked me why would a bunch of people blindly follow one man instead of thinking for themselves-that brought up the conversation on sheepism. You gave a very good lesson to her in free thinking and I appreciate it. Bobbie has a talent with people, shes good at it, I guess it was a job requirement for her for the business she is in. I personally would be alittle uncomfortable with a bunch of peoples noses up my butt,but thats just me. I Think when you are in the entertainment business you like peoples noses up your butt,I think it is even a good thing.I want friends,but not a fan base.I use to model when I was younger and I had a fan base then and it made me uncomfortable,I had my own set of sheep at one time and I don't want them back.I doubt you knew standing up like you did would have such a impact on a bunch of 5th graders,but it was a good lesson.The Gross out is not the same since Secret Sister left-I kinda miss her,anyway I'm not even reading it anymore-its pretty sad when you have grown woman coming to your wall to spy,but not to leave you a message-way to silly for me-I'm a grown folk.Hope all is well.

Tennessee, I always knew that that beautiful angel was from you and lil tenny. It meant so much to me. You and I graciously included the rest of the people on the thread because SS lost her mind when she didn't think of it. Remember? I do. Etched on my mind.
I hosted you and lil Tenny on the boat, my home, and worked my butt off to make you both happy and comfortable. I listened and listened to you tell your tale of betrayal from your family and your little town.
It was my absolute pleasure to meet you spend time with you and your beautiful daughter.
This IS a public forum and that's why people cruise around and read stuff and that's what happened when some folks read your wall and told me about it. Just like the last time.
You and nance ARE kind of mean when you write about me/us and the term is projection.
That's when you have a behavior but blame someone else for it. (mean girls club)
Seriously, you guys have been the ones doing the bashing. We had all moved on from the last nance bash job and you started it up again.
I don't think that you are getting attacked as much as being held accountable for what you have written.

btw, do you remember who got upset not knowing that it was your daughter that was posting? Pretty sure it was SS. Certainly wasn't me or Miz or any of the regular crew.
Miz is not an idiot. She is a dear, sweet person who has just lost her mom. She has behaved as a true friend to me. I don't think that there are idiots on this thread or any others. All I see are caregivers. Tired, grieving, depressed and hanging on for dear life. All we have tried to do here on the Grossed Out is pop a few laughs into the mix.
You are probably not aware of how many times nance has pounced on me in a very mean way over the last year. I took it and took it and then I didn't.
I am truly sorry that you are so upset with us and we will miss you.
That was such a beautiful angel and I have the angel and the card (complete with misspelled daughter's name!) in my mom's room in NJ.
It is sad because now when I look at it, it will represent a totally different memory.
I am going to post what was said so the crew knows what this is about.
