Christina ... You have instinctive timing! & double BOAT hours! Bravo for you , girl! The boat & her host are amazing! An "E" ticket ride when the time is right.
Hoping the West Coast happens .... if not ~ should we buy another boat?
Montgomery Creme is tossing confetti about ... er, pine kitty litter, in honor of our Italian amigos. Yes, summer was special when we found this thread. A vacation from parents online! The bonus was discovering how much we all have in common!
Hey, I don't know how I do it--I was 7,000, too. Must be THE TIME ZONE THINGY!! Got to put Mother to bed, take a shower, then I'm baa-aack. Miz--I'll be here for you, little sweetheart. Want to read the posts from Rossellamex, too. I'm Italian at heart, and in the kitchen:)
BTW, Rip, grande bacio a Sir (he has been in Italy he will understand) Bobbie what's the "yup"??? (digestion?) Jam I am glad if the nonsenses I say make you feel better. People of my family think I am crazy!!!! What is "crazy" BTW? I don't remember who said that the cat goes to the bathroom to watch if everything is done correctly. Our cat Cocaine does the same. She thinks she is my mother's cat (it's an unilateral feeling) and she always watches me to see if I treat her well.
Marip, this is the new computer (new as in: "second hand but good"). Its memory is better than mine, for sure. As it belonged to a young girl, and she was quite "heavy" with the buttons, (it seems she used a hammer to switch the computer on), this tower sometimes does not start. That's why I am going to keep the old one on the same table; ready to work if this one decides not to cooperate. I am going to give Daniela a portable which is also second-hand (we have a market for second hand things!) I am becoming second hand too! My dogs are definitely second hand, because they had been abandoned. My cats are not second hand, cats can't be second hand. If they have been abandoned by their previous owner, they will tell you that they have abandoned their previous owner. You know cats. Yeah I remember very well our summer chats, when we were the only two people in the world who were not on vacation!!! And we have not taken a rest since then. I know the newbies... I could not write but I could read. I haven't missed a Bit! (speaking of PCs....)
rossella your quiet knowledge always has a way of making me feel better..........I'm holding my breath....:) Two weeks and we will know how things will go with the dog.
thank you miz----i was kinda lost this morning because I usually stopped by to visit mom on my way to Wal-Mart to see if she needed anything and now I just pass on by.
rip----it's Crazy Old Lady----said with affection. Her doggie is a BIG yorkie, but such a sweet little gentleman. Thank you for the compliment...........let's pass the hat (Pat's that is).......:)
She's Back! My darling Italian Sister who I spent the summer online dreaming with! Dogs in the river, cats in the garden, flowers blooming!Happiness where we could find it ... Parents who overwhelmed us ~ & haven't stopped. Nor does our love for them.
Rossella - is the the computer that RULZ? Makes your life easier? Can't wait for you to catch up with some of the Newbies ~ if you haven't already. Sir & all the pets say Hello to their Italy!
CHRISTINA YOU HIT THE 8000 POST! Good for you! I would use the nickname "Christina8000" I use my real name everywhere (mail, sites) because I can't make an effort to remember which kind of nickname I gave myself!!!!! As for the "Mex", this is the nickname of both my nephews at school, and it comes from our family name. If you want to post the photo of your cat, go to your profile, and it will explain to you what to do. Of course, you have to have a photo of the cat on your hard disk!
Christina, you are so sweet. The story of the dimes is very beautiful. For my father, it is the birds. He loved birds because they could fly. He wanted to become an airplane pilot but he couldn't because he was short-sighted. So, many times my father gives me messages through little birds. I will certainly send messages through cats, when I will be at the other side! Black cats, mostly. I live in Italy, so, if I don't answer for hours, probably it is because it's my sleeping time, or dog-walking time. My mother hates diapers and she tears them off during the night. Therefore, we don't use the classical type anymore. We use the ones which have the form of pants, and we add napkins to increase the absorbent capacity; therefore she feels she is a lady with her periods and she accepts them. The normal diapers are too humiliating for her. Besides, when she goes to the bathroon alone, she can lower them as normal slips and then put them back. They cost a lot of money but it's worth it... Jam I think that the fallen photo means that your mother is close to you and wants to say she is sorry for what happens in your family right now. Try to live these days in apnea... This is what I do when I have to face situations that I don't like and I can't escape. Hold your breath (metaphorically) and let these days pass... And, I hope everything goes well with the little dog. I have 4 dogs and I understand. Pat, sometimes young doctors have the advantage of enthousiasm. She could be better than you think... Listen to several advices, anyway, before you make up your mind. Ted welcome back bro! A big kiss to everybody else.
Cats are the best. I am definitely a cat person. I act like a cat, not a dog. You will not see me bouncing off the walls because any person shows up, only certain people, and only certain times. I hang out in the kitchen, hoping someone will feed me, but it's always me getting the food out. I would run between someone's feet and beat them to the kitchen if they were going to feed me for a change, too. My cat is an Egyptian Mau. I'll figure out how to post her photo. Peach--tell me how to do it, please! Back to din din for Morris.
My kitty boy, Sandy has been so extra loving to me lately. He seems to know I need comfort. Sleeps with me all night I think. He is like the perfect cat. What a sweetheart.
Not a Favor .... some things we don't share in public. So glad you're here!!! Read all you can! This thread is an emotion brain savior! Prepare to laugh, feel sorrow, but mostly feel a sense of strength & understanding unlike any other. Stay with!
Jam ~ Little dogs! Oh I LOVE my little dogs but miss my Regal low maintenence husky/shepherds so much ... I can't remember i little dog is a Yorkie, Pug or other. I do recall his diet. Sir's cat Ratz ate from his plate for years. Would have been stabbed with a dinner fork if he appeared at our family dinner table when I was growing up. When I asked him not to feed the cat at the table I was ignored. Cat got fat, they moved to assisted living, moved back in here & Ratz has slimmed down. Dad no longer eats at my dining room table but at a small table in the living room. No space for the cat! I love them both!
Nothing to do with your MIL's dog. - COL - new moniker. Cranky Old Lady, right?
Jam, you are so amazing & so much fun! How you handle the COL & what your kids are putting you thru .... my hat is off to you! (I may need to borrow one of Pat's)
Ratzo, the amazing resuced cat who has outlived his 9 lives, is sitting on my lap PURRRRRING! This cat has volume! Wish yawl (did I say it right Southerners?) could hear it!
Ok got my Chardonnay. Wish 5 came as soon as it does for most of you. Thanks for all your support. Oh, Miz, if only I were as sweet as YOU:) Patthe Hat--the Republicans could sure use your filibustering on the floor of the senate. This is NOT a political comment. lol Ay Yi Yi--Mother is a mess today. I am going to reread Deefer's post about drugs on my wall. I know the secret, or at least an improvement, is out there somewhere. I put 2 calls into the doctor today but she is not in and waiting still for on-call doc to return my call. Maybe M does not have Lewy Body dementia? Maybe she is taking the wrong drugs, maybe she shouldn't take any drugs. What she wants is a boyfriend. Every time she hears a man's voice, she becomes like buttah. Buttah, I say. She met a designer friend of mine in the mall one day. He told her how lovely she looked, that expression came over her face, and on the way to the car, she was "in love" again. This guy, you know they were together for a long time,( 3 minutes) then she made a mistake: couldn't find him, forgot his name, couldn't remember what he was wearing. I am not making fun, It is so sad. I would take her to adult center, but she cannot even eat her lunch without help, or go the bathroom, or hear, or see. We don't know what to do for her anymore. I just pray she could have a peaceful afternoon, remember positive things instead of worrying "where she will sleep", how she is going to "get back home", worrying about ME if I am not sitting right next to her ALL DAY LONG; if not me, then the caregiver. We cannot get up for 5 minutes to go to the bathroom, without her freaking out, even when we tell her, get right in her face, say it slowly, say we'll be right back, don't worry. I think I have said this before. Sorry. I think maybe someone will see it that hasn't before, and have an answer. I am still tired from the weekend. I haven't done much of anything today except go through the motions, and hope i can sleep tonight so my body can heal my sore shoulder. It hurts when I lie down, any position, except lifting my arm over my head with my other hand to place it on my pillow and sleep like that, all night if I can. Now THAT is weird. OK, need to fix dinner for my husband. Mother will be asleep in 2 hours, and I will collapse in 3. It's potato frittata time tonight, with garlic toast and a salad. Speaking of Italianos!!! TED, Paisan, Welcome back! I drink a toast to you, to all of you, with my second and final glass of Chardonnay. Ciao, bella. christina
So here I sit. The time when I would have been in with Mom and hubby is fast asleep. Has been since 7 something. Maybe I will go read. Hubby's sleep is totally off. Gets up about 3:30 or so. Sucks.
hi 'not a favor' (sorry if I abbreviated) ...while paying the hotel bill? That's appropriate crap! I have some bills that Dad missed. Is her aim better than his crappy one?
Welcome Moms......I take care of my mil and she used to be a put together lady also and sounds just like yours, sometimes all there and others a little on the batty side....she is now 86 and a handful! I lost my 81 y/o mom last week....she was a pistol and missing her. Took COL's doggie to vet today......oh my...has infected anal gland.....ok can deal with that. Has a "bulge" right under his tail, vet says if antibiotics don't also heal that in 2 weeks then it is a tumor and we need to decide what to do....surgery would make him incontinent of bowel.....there is no way she is capable of taking care of him. I chose to not tell her anything, will see what happens in 2 weeks. If it's a tumor I'm not sure I could break her heart by telling her then....might just let her think he died of natural causes. She loves the little guy and will be devastated if he should die. Hope everyone is having a great evening....time for more rum and coke....
