I've seen a cat lick it's foot. How do they do it? It's like they dislocate it. Bobbie, has your cat caught any rats or fish ? ; ) The b-day strategy works. We celebrate b-day for a month. - Lil Tenny
Linda, I never noticed the connection but I bet you're right!
And seriously, if he said not to bother with bladder, don't. We (Mom, her doc, and I) have pretty much agreed that any invasive medical stress just isn't appropriate anymore.
rip .. my dad was passing blood in his urine also , dr found tumor on his bladder . sometimes he just bleeds and othertime he s ok and not bleeding . may wanna get ur dad cked out too , i dont know how long my dad has or how bad the tumor is , my mind just went blank and now i have so many questions i wanna ask this dr . shit now i have to make an appt ! 85 dollars plz , screw it ! since dad said to leave his bladder alone . welcome mmm... forgot what number it is , lol . boring night , down in the dump , i said dump not the black hole . ah fox hole im scared of that too . rather be in bobbies bottom boat :-) my gfriend s bday is on the 28th . maybe i ll take her out to eat tmr if i can get away ? how old will bobbie be ? somebodys bday is today and tmr and day after mmmmmm happy bday !! xoxox
GP: Love the FoxHole idea! Ted: and you know how to spin it!
WooHoo whatta team.
ya, I'm not too tied to the day but i do know that I can sit here on this boat or choose to go up the dock and have some fun, even if it's only sitting there reading a book while I have a salad. Instead of a salad I'll get a chocolate cake. oh yeah. I'm licking my chops.
Ever watch the Cat lick their chops? No matter how many times the tongue goes on one side or the other, it always comes out even. then the foot gets involved.
Must be something in the air... Mom is having a sundowners moment and asking me where my sister is... The one who didn't call her for christmas and stole my father's estate.
Want to thank you all for the strength I get here.
Bobbie,I guess with your birthday being after Xmas, your birthday always had to compete with Xmas,or was it one big shindig.I had a friend that had a birthday on the 28th of December,he said he hardly gets birthday presents because of Xmas.I started the tradition of birthday months[day isn't long enough] so you can chose the whole month of Dec. or start celebrateing on the 21st of Dec and go until Jan.21st.Either way works for me.Little Tenny starts in NOV. and goes through DEC. I start in Feb. and go through March. That way if one day sucks the next one will be better,TOO MUCH PRESSURE FOR ONE DAY.
Kuli MY FRIEND!!! I was going to email you about Sir pissing blood in his leg bag .... see you are dealing with the same "other' sh*t. No matter how the care giver protects them ... the OTHER gets the credit.
I'm not a screamer but thinking about it. Dad's in the loo doing his duty. Grateful he doesn't need Depends so I'll shut up. Hoping blood in the urinary collection bag wont be fatal. Damn scary ....
Kuli - we need to catch up. Posting for now since Sir is in the can ....
Oh Kuli, tell this guy that his behavior really hugs the root.
mmm: welcome to the thread and I hope you come back. We're all taking our strolls down the lane and it's been really tough for so many of us. We are so sorry for the loss of your beloved son. how awful. there have been many losses here recently, but the loss of a son is especially devastating as I can only imagine. I hope you spend some time with us while you are healing and help us be better too. bless your heart about finding the fun things and laughing. gurl, you got that right
OK, so now he's picking at my daughter about how she hasn't been picking up her mail. Apparently it's in his way. OMG - I really have about had it. And again saying he's so glad my sister had the chance to get away. Please! Sorry, venting big time tonite.
Hello to all! I know I haven't been around much but have been trying to keep up with things. Angie - my sincerest sympathies on the loss of your dad. Miz - hang in there. It will get better with time. Lost my mom 22 years ago, still miss her but the hurt is gone. Peach - Love the jokes. Those have been the few smiles I've had the past few weeks. I used to love Christmas - now it's just another thing to get through with selfish, self centered sibs. My dad has really been pi***ng me off in the past few days. Going on and on about how much my sister does for him, spending a few hours a week getting him dinner. WTF????? And now she's gone for the week and if I have to hear him tell me how he's glad she can get away and relax for a week cuz she needs it so bad I think I will scream!!! He has been nasty and ornery with me but everyone else thinks he's just the nicest guy. Spent some time with the b/f yesterday, only time I saw him over Christmas and you'd think I committed some crime. I got up this morning, went out and got him coffee and a cinnamon roll before going to work and was there a good morning or thank you there? Nope, all he could do was say, you're awfully late this morning. Are you going to be late for work? I refrained from telling him that I've been able to take care of myself from the time I was 16 and haven't been fired from a job yet. He was even nasty to my daughter who was nice enough to get dinner for him last night so I could have dinner with my b/f. I'm so mad at him now that I don't even want to talk to him. The sad thing is I'm sure he doesn't even remember this morning's conversation. He's really been losing it lately. Oh, well. Just another day in paradise. The boat, the boat, I just try to focus on the boat. Love to all. My prayers for a peaceful evening. All you sickies, I hope you start to feel better SOON! Kuli
Hey, just laugh about it and get a new toothbrush and hide this one. leave the other one out so she can use it again. You have to find the fun in things to get by.
Hey Family! Hope everybody is having a great day & evening! We got a call a little while ago that Larry's nephew, that was sick with cancer, passed away. Tomorrow night we'll go to the funeral home & Wed. for the service. Please keep Larry & the rest of his family in your thoughts & prayers. It hit Larry pretty hard & the tremors have been bad today. Stress does that. And please forgive me for venting a moment, but I've tried to make sure that everyone in the family knows to talk to me in case there's any bad news so I can break it to Larry as easily as possible, but the one who called just blurted it out to Larry & I think that's partially what upset him. We knew it was coming, but it was still difficult to hear, especially like that.
Bobbie, we do understand that you need some down time where you don't have to be responsible for anything or anyone except yourself! How about try a foxhole for protection from the fight instead of the black hole to consume you. Foxholes can be large enough for one person or enlarged to protect several. Please remember that foxholes are a good refuge. Good thing about foxholes is that they can be constructed when & where they're needed along life's path & they're deep enough to protect you entirely, but all you have to do is to stand up & your head & shoulders are still above ground. It doesn't consume you lin a negative way like the black hole does! And foxholes can come in different designs...for us: a BOAT, an Illinois ballgame, a bonfire, watching the hummingbirds flutter, dancing with cousins, playing with our furry family, planning an upcoming vacation, sharing with our online family, enjoying the silence of the morning snow. It comes in many venues! Please remmy (as Linda would say) that as you've been here for us, we're ALL here for YOU!!! We love you!!!
Maxine's poor tree. I love trees and it's so sad when they go.
Ted! Wow, wouldn't that be the stuff! I would love it! They're going to help me get the boat into an inside slip and I will stay here until the 1st. They rented out the T dock where I am now and I learned that new year's eve there will be 4000 people at this little par tay. This is where I don't get off the boat! Fireworks Fri nite!! Hope it works out. nothing like having to leave before the party because there's no room for ya.
I'll find out tomorrow. Miz! you're going to get better! Cold and gray does not help when you're trying not to feel depressed!
Deef! A big fat Christmas Boil for the people who piss you off!! The more pissed, the more boils....
Rossella! I am glad you had fun and also I am sorry that you are seeing your mom disappear. sux.
i'm going to try to throw myself a bday party on Wednesday. Why not? The bartenderette said that she would put all my drinks on other people's tabs. We both laughed because since the red wine evening I'm sticking to sweet tea. omg that was awful.
Hello Everyone. It's very cold here. I am so thankful for our furnace. I won't be so much when we get the bill though. I started my car to come home from work and it still was not really warm by the time I got home. Of course I had a window partially down cause I was smoking so that's my own dang fault.
deef, what a lot of crap you have been through!! OMG!! You are such a trooper and an angel!!
I'm gonna go fix some soup or something. I'm still not right physically through all this. Trying to decide if it warrants a doctor visit or not. Can't really afford it. I don't feel bad physically except for off and on lower abdomen pain and just being tired. We'll see. More later.
Rosella it's cold here at my place too. Way below averages for this time of year. Cold, Dark, Ugly, Lonely, Depressing, did I say DarkUglyLonelyDepressing yet?
Bobbie, I had a wonderful daydream after reading that you lost your helper, I imagined myself driving all night and showing up on your dock first thing in the morning to help you move the Barbara B. up the river, But we swung her around and headed to Aluethra instead.
Sounds like everyone is coping okay, I know a lot of us are hurting pretty badly right now and i just wish I could make it all good, but i think we're gonna have to just hang on tight and help each other out as much as we can,
When it all seems like there just isn't any hope, I let myself daydream, and that seems to pass the time. BOAT!
hi all, we didn't end up with much snow here cuz it rained during the night, just windy today. Hope you are warming up and not out shovelling any more! I'm just vegging today. ssk
Hey everyone! Hope you all had a nice peaceful X-mas! I didn't, but that's par for the course. Got no help with Mom while I cooked 2 side dishes for dinner at my sister's. Was making both dishes when my hubby's sister and daughter showed up, X-mas morning no less! I still had to shower, and fix Mom's hair and load the car up with her, the wheelchair, the food, and presents. You think anyone would offer to come by to help? Hah!!! Right in the middle of all this, a brother showed up with a card for Mom and I had him hold her down while I loaded everything into the car. It's a 20 minute ride to my sister's and when I got there, same thing!!! Had Mom and most of the stuff in the door by the time someone decided to ask if I needed help! Of course I said NO!!! And did the rest myself! No one came to the house with me to get Mom and all her stuff back in either. Needless to say, I was cranky all day, and exhausted. I actually fell asleep on the couch after dinner. Not my best X-Mas! Today I got up to Mom in a wet bed. She took her pull-ups off during the night and was swimming in a puddle this morning. So it was laundry I had not planned on doing today. Then there is the trash to get out on the street, that was fun with 5-6" of snow and 40-45 mile/hour winds! My daughter and I just spent 2 hours cleaning up the sidewalk and 2 driveways. We decided to use the snow blower which in itself is a real comedy! It's a 9 horse power, big! I'm 5"1" and Lex is 4'10". It practically picks us up off our feet! My hands and arms will be useless the next few days! The snow has blown into every crack and crevice out there and will drift all night, but it sure is pretty! Just filled the bird feeders again and the birds are eating non stop. Jen, I counted 5 pair of cardinals this morning! there were also 2 downy woodpeckers and many other bird species. I'll get some pics of the cardinals to send to you. Peach, love the jokes! Watch for a package in the mail next week! Bobbie, your cat sounds like a riot! Rossella, hope you can warm up soon! Selfishsibs, Mom has severe dementia and is on 2 xanax 3 times a day to keep her calm. When she gets off track, we try to divert her attention onto something else. Disagreeing with something they say only makes matters worse. Just agree and redirect them onto another subject. Seems to work best. Austin, sorry you lost your beautiful tree! The winds are knocking down branches and trees here too. Sskape, you must have a lot of snow out there on the Cape by now! This is our first real snowfall here this year. How's Rip? Great conversation X-mas Eve! Ted, hope to talk to you on Face Boat!!! Got to switch laundry and make supper for Mom. Cats are hungry too!
I lost a big beautiful pine tree that others said was worthy of Rockafeller Center-it uprooted during the blizzard with huricane winds-at least it did not hit the window where my grand-daughter was sleeping in we lost electricity-got the wood stove going for us to keep warm-will try to find Crowe Maxine here
Guys, it's freezing cold here! Me and cats and dogs, all of us around the stove. I have 5 sweaters on, 2 pairs of trousers, a hat on my head. This damn house (and my room in particular) is so difficult to heat! My mother is not well, she is more and more closed in her own world. I don't know how to reach her and help her to take her fears away. It's really hard to get into her head, lately, and it's very hard for her to get into mine. It's no more question of saying reassuring lies - when the confusion is so big, nothing you say can improve things because nothing you say "gets the target"... - it's like we lived in two different worlds. Oh my my. I can't say that I'm on the brink of the black hole; I'm just so tired that I ask my shoes to keep me standing. Do you know the feeling? I can't wear high heels, that's for sure. Nance, sit down and make a list of the things you like to do. The things that you used to like when you were younger, too. And try to make as many of them as possible. Did Bobbie say so? Our parents would like us to continue living after them. They are certainly better than we are now. I had a nice family lunch yesterday; I played with my cousins' children, I danced with my cousins... I'm glad I decided to go! One feet after another....
x-mas vacation has been pretty good.i get to stay up and watch gilligans island on the computer. I like being able to stay home. christmas we just layed around,me and mom weren't feeling good. - Lil Tenny
