Hey rip, the spelling is wrong becasue I spelled it wrong on Email....Parrot..yeah just one T...

A self seeded Japanese Maple whoa, those cost like 90 bucks!

I had a bizarre thing with a rose bush I had to move three feet...It took fine and then in the place I had to move the original one from...grew up a totally different rose bush in colour, and climb and scent...Like it mutated itself somehow....

"we are not a salad" pahahahahaha man that is too much!!!!!

Grandpa HAS money...it is just the stubbornness set in here. Well mostly, I think you are right she doesn't want strangers in the house...well you want to get turned in for hygiene issues ma...The weekend is the cut off.....

Oh Oh ... I have a Rose of Sharon too that is in full bloom!
I planted a twig ... free from the nursery since it looked dead.
Should I uproot it for the compost pile?

Do you have Morning Glory? They are horrible here! I've been tugging out fleshy roots all summer! They've crept under the lawn & into the orchard! Entwining everything they possibly can!

I bought Round UP ... but not sure I'll use it. Maybe if I can cover the area with cardboard or something after squirting ... smother the dang roots with poison ... just don't want the pets anywhere near it.

Nest spring I plant to sprinkle the North Slope with Sunflower seeds. They grow like wild fire here!

GP I am so sorry for what you are going through are there other families near you so you could get together with PD a lady at my senior center has it and she is able to have an active life she sets a timer to remind her to take her meds.Do you have a church family where you can get support. J -have you called you office or angency to see if your Mom would qualify for free or low cost aides it goes by her income what is charged. At first I hated to have strangers nurses and aides and PT and social workers come in but got use to it they understand how tired she must be and can not maintain a spick and span house at all times after a while it will not bother Deefer Miralax which I am sure is OTC is very good for constipation. Rip-I love butterfly bushes and deadheading them keeps the blouslems comming here Rose of Sharon are worse that weeds I pulled hundreds up every year I love finches and am so happy they like sunflowers because finch food is so expensive and the seed grow thistle weeds unbelievably,

Castoff ... wish I could give you some Butterfly bushes ... uh, trees now! They're considered a weed around here! I need to prune mine. They grew very large, smothering the fruit trees.

Hummingbirds are year round here! I believe they are Rufous. I have photos of them with snow falling in the background!
Seems one has bonded with a Finch. I see two together frequently. Hummer at the nectar bottle, Finch on the sock feeder. They often arrive & fly off together! Not sure if it is coincidence or a real relationship ... very curious!

I'm envious of your nursery bargains! I am trying to remove the lawn in favor of shrubs & dwarf trees. The idea is having flagstone paths with lots of yard art.
A friend - whose 5 acre farm is amazing - gave me a Japanese Snowbell tree, which I need to plant. I have a Katsura waiting for me at a tree farm,in trade for a sign. Are you familiar with them? Smell like caramel is autumn as the leaves turn.

Even have a baby Japanese Maple that seeded itself in a pot on my deck!

I need a gang to help with the gardening chores here!
WIsh I could keep up with my imagination!!!

This may sound odd, but it reminds me of quite a different yet more acceptable scene: as a child- when we were given a toothbrush to brush our dolly's hair . . . maybe there is a connection in her mind that goes back to this . . . a brush is a brush is a brush.

Rip, I know all about the selective hearing loss thing with men. Must be a special genome they got & we didn't. It took me a loooong time to get mom to use a hearing aid. Huh? What? Huh? almost drove me mad. She made me shout for years. I litterally begged the ear doc to convince har to get one. Didn't help that the silly girl is afraid to clean her ears....Qtip phobia I suppose.
Hub & I got a glimpse of a mink yesterday at the park. Fast little buggers. I found more sales at the nursery & picked up 3 butterfly bushes to finish the bed I was working on at the nature center. One down and numerous to go. Not yet tired of my new volunteer position, but I get winded more easily than I used to. Maybe if I lost 30 lbs.????

Kathy, Good info again. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I always feed mom like a little bird when she's sedated. Somehow last time I was a little preoccupied and forgot. They gave her spagetti and before I knew it she had it all over herself, but we were laughing when I tried to clean it up. Glad your mom at least gave you a break & slept well.

GP, Glad you found out what you needed at the doc & proper meds. Listen to Kathy. She knows.

Bobbie, Sorry about the douche. It dissipated after it did it's job??
My first roommate went to the gyno & when asked what douche she used mistakenly told the doc: "vinegar & oil". The doc told her: "We are not a salad!" LOL

Lots of chores today. Love & best to all.

Bobbie ...
Have you considered a Parrott for the Barbara B?
(J - help me ... the spelling looks wrong ...)

I have no idea if Bobbie would look good with an eye patch ... just know if phony blood is running down her legs ... getting a rise from her marina pals ....

Halloween must be fun in Bobbie Land!!!

Pirate, think about a Jack Russell on a boat. They are the most HYPER dogs ... Back flips are nothing for them!

I have 2 darling small dogs. Both 'Puppy Mill" rescues with multiple health problems b/c of inbreeding ...
I love them!!! But I ache for their ailments. Allergies & skin issues. I am forever trying to adapt for their failing teeth - they fall out at a young age - skin - ear problems ... many health problems! Hardly an immune system!
They were among piles of new born puppies ... with an exhausted mother.
I wish every crappy puppy mill in this country could be shut down! They cage & breed. While the dogs suffer!
Can't say enough for mixed breeds.

oops ... Mary went off on a rampage.
Sorry ...

I hurt so much for all my rescued pets who were born into thier lives. Whether feral or dumped at a shelter.
Several had a home but the owner died or was shipped off to war ... & ended up with me.
They are safe. Some never recover, disappear like Bobbie's brief kitty ... others of mine you see on Face Book.

Bless your heart, Bobbie, for trying to offer that wild kitty a home.
Believe me ... some will never adapt!

Famous Ratzo was one ~ his first owner passed. A rescuer found them when the kid's from out of state brought them to animal control after the parent passed.
They ended up at my shop. Ratz & his brother TommyCat. They lived there for over a year.
Ratz moved to the house & adopted Dad. They dined together every night.
What a pair!
They both moved back to the Independent "Institution" & did great! Ratzo kept Dad alive ... thinking & being a super cat!
Refused to eat anything from their dining room which concerned us ... Dad would bring up leftovers & the Gobbling Cat would turn up his nose.
You need to realize .. this cat had starved for weeks ...
Had to wonder about their cuisine?

5 years later ...
Both Dad & Ratzo are my life.
Both are special. Ratzo is back eating from Dad's plate when he is finished. A rescue kitty whom I love! A very active Brat ... a cat who has taken care of Dad. Those two ....
always happy together.
I wish everyone had a special animal to ease the strife....

Hey Peach! Remember what I told you to get for the nausea? Acid controller pills called famatodine. You can get a bottle of 90 at Walmart for under $10, their brand. Have him take one in the morning before he takes his carbidopa. He can also take one during the day to help settle his tummy. Mom used to lay down for a few until it worked. He's probably going to feel hot too. I get that way after taking requip, which is the same type med. It took a while, but Mom got used to the meds. She also gets constipated, so you might want to get some stool softeners and Bebefiber if that happens. If Mom didn't have the dementia, she would be no problem to care for with the Parkinsons. She has had it for years, and was getting worse with walking, but the neurologist just increased the carbidopa, and she is much improved!
It's going to take some time to get the dosage right for him, and he will find ways to deal with the nausea. Me, I just go to bed if I can. That helps a lot!. Tell Larry to not get discouraged. It does get better. You will also find that things will get easier for you too. He should have less problems with tremors and will be more rested now that he is on the carbidopa. Is he on the regular and extend release, 25/100 tabs? That's what Mom takes. $ of the ER and 3 of the regular every day.
I'm glad he finally got the meds. I hope you both start to enjoy life again. Let me know if you have questions about anything. Kathy

We use up the urine be gone on the carpet he soaked through to the floor. And unfortunately it is getting too chilly to hose him down in the yard...damn!

I mean she says she is tired, she is TIREDER than she knows...If she doesn't want to bathe him she needs to call someone in to do it. Solved. Why wont she? money (his), doesn't want to embarrass him, admit she can't DO IT ALL, have a stranger in the house...what the hell ever...if he doesn't get hosed off this weekend I am saying something.

Wow, full moon aside, Mom out cold early tonight. She's been super busy the last couple of days, and has made many messes for me to clean. Spilled a glass of cranberry juice all over kitchen yesterday, then fed her spaghetti for supper, and she got that all over the floor and dragged it around with her wheelchair. Glad the ole moon is shrinking down again! It gets her every time!
Spilled coffee on my keyboard at work once. Found another in the attic and replaced it. No one was the wiser!
To keep your comment while looking back, simply use your back arrow on the web browser bar! Then arrow forward to your comment to add to it! Found this out after losing a couple long comments, and being very frustrated!!
J, why don't you ask Mom to buy some Urine Gone, and hose Gramps down twice a day with it. At least when you have to take him out in public. To bad you have to suffer the embarrassment! Maybe you should tell Mom that you told everyone that she won't wash him. Maybe if it reflected back on her, she might do something about it.
Saw the Grand Canyon twice flying over it on the way to Vegas. At sunrise and sunset. Beautiful! Would like to see it up close and personal some day.

Hey everybody!

Hope y'all have had an easy day! It's still hot & muggy here in the south. Won't be long before we're complaining about the cold weather!

I'm having a difficult day after yesterday. I already knew what his diagnosis was from his other doctor, but this new doctor confirming it was hard. Felt like she gave him a death sentance! Life pretty much sucks! This is supposed to be the good time in our lives, not waiting for him to get worse & die! What in the world am I going to do? How in the world am I going to deal with him getting worse & dying? I love him SO much & this just isn't fair!!! He's started on the new med. & they're already making him nauseas. Does it ever get better??
I know that the stats say that the average life expectancy of someone with PD is 17 years & he's already had it for 7...How am I going to do this for 10 more years?? I'll never last that long! My heart is breaking!

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get so negative. Thanks for listening & for being there!

Sanity Break!!!
Time to see if the keyboard that Ratzo dumped the V8 juice in Tuesday will work. I'm firing up a different computer for that.

Now to see if I still function ...

4,300 posts, Bobbie! & we are all grosser than ever!

Ripped my back up a couple days ago so been moving carefully. Just like my computers.

Ripped .... Another play on my moniker.

Been spending time sitting with Sir which can be exhausting as well. Constant cussing & muttering. Always blowing his nose. I think it's more habit. An obsessive thing that inflames it more.
A control thing.

Like his death grip on the remote control. Raising & lowering the volume. ACK!!! It doesn't work for him to sit & listen. He CAN hear! He picks up the funny lines on Frasier & Raymond just fine. Especially if they cuss.
Hears the news just fine.
He's bored. Needs control of something!

Wish I felt some control ...
But he's still witty & funny when he relaxes.

I'll start to say something & within 3 words he is saying "Pardon?" - I know he hears me. Doesn't listen. Even if I am answering his question!
When I don't repeat my sentence he usually gives an appropriate reply.
I also realize with age decline comes mind delays. Lord knows I have them!
Seems to be a game he plays with me alone. Been going on for years. Others have noticed it.

Male chromozone thing I believe. Selective hearing for certain people. Not all ... I know some great men ... a few who really listen!

It's another full moon. I've seen photos online from all over the wolrd. Supposed to be super special.
The great Pacific Northwest is under clouds ... again. It's been the worst summer on record. Matches my mood.

Hey ~ Aging Care staff ... I'm one of those who would like to return to a previous page when writing. I'd like to reread the people Bobbie mentioned earlier. Respond.
I'd lose my muddled diatribe.
Other than that - the new format is AWESOME!

Good Morning, Everyone. Thanks for all of the encouragement for doing a column. I am planning on starting a first one this weekend.

Bobbie, LOL @ douche bag. My thought was Easter eggs. I like douche bag better. :)

One of our caregivers asked me to go to a Fall festival on Sunday. Hubby and I can't go cause no $$$$. It's okay. But it would have been fun. I miss doing stuff like that. Maybe I could go but I can only be gone like 3 hours at the most cause of Mom's incontinence. Wah. Poor me. ;) I'll just work on my column and watch my Cubs.

Hubby is straightening up some of the clutter this AM. Yay!! I hate messiness.

Well, I best go change my mom. She seems tired this morning.

Hugs to all.

love,
miz
