I've followed the history of NAFTA [North America Free Trade Agreement] since it was the brain child of our late U.S. President Ronald Reagan back in 1979.

As for PM Trudeau eyebrows, I doubt any of his staff would have allowed him to make a public presentation if he did have a slipping eyebrow. Turns out it was a light shadow that was causing the believing of a fake eyebrow :)

Ms Madge, Unfortunately we had to cancel our train trip. But there’s always next year. Hopefully, we’re going to drive up to Labrador for a few days. A few places we would like to visit. I’m planning a fall trip to fly to Cali to visit my son and his family. My DIL got a promotion and they will be there another 5-10 years.

Becky,
California has so many sights and things to offer but if you happen to get to the Redwoods in very northern Cal., (like the "Forest Bathing" thread says), you won't regret it. One of the few places that doesn't have a jillion people crammed together like sardines.

MsMadge,
Now you know you need a colonoscopy! (This coming from a nurse that just had her first one at 60!) Go Lightly is a "joy" to drink. The colder the better. I found you can gulp more with a straw. There's nothing to compare to the feeling of it "taking hold" (welling up inside the bowel) and then "letting out" what seems like gallons of liquid at a time.
They found 2 small polyps. I "won" and now get to have one every 5 years. Oh joy.
(p.s. If you don't drink it all, they will know. Then the doctor shoots water up there to wash it out--not a good sensation.) Sorry for those with tender stomachs. I know....TMI.

Gershun,
In complete embarrassment, I did not know what your PM Justin Trudeau looked like, so I Googled it. What a cutie!! And his wife is pretty too. What a young man for the job. Also, shamefully to say, I don't know what his history of leadership has been. Hopefully he was a good choice.
Enrique Peña Nieto, the handsome devil and president of my adopted country, (México), may not be thought of as doing the best he can by those that live here but he sure is easy on the eyes! And México will never get involved in wars fought between other countries.
Now for Donald Trump. Yes the economy is booming, a BIG plus. He's a businessman so he knows how to arrange and organize things for profit. He's done a good job THAT way.
But I have never, in my 61 years, heard a person holding any government office say the horrible, insulting, offensive, discriminating, demeaning, demoralizing things that he has said. IMO, he needs his mouth washed out with soap!
Because he's one of the richest men on earth, he's used to having his own way and his own say. I'm sure his advisors have been told to "shut their traps" with any advise they dared give him.
He's rude, crude and certainly NOT the picture that I want painted for America. My mouth has dropped with his disgusting comments. I hear him on the radio or TV and just wince. We all know what he thinks of women-just a crotch to grab anytime you want to. He said it. That's NOT my version of America!
I am embarrassed to have him for my leader. I believe he "means" well but he's a spoiled little kid who has never had to apologize for his poor behavior because he came from 'money'.

The old adage, "If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all." should apply here.

P.S. He's old and homely too. Why can't we have a young, cute one like our northern and southern neighbors? ;)

However much you may disagree with me, I, as all of you, have a right to an opinion.

Oh my, this "Trudeau and the fake eyebrows" thing is too much! 🤣 I don't think it is fake eyebrows... is that even a thing? And it's one thing when a certain look happens to a person just once, but isn't consistent, compared to when they look a certain ... UNUSUAL, shall we say ... way all the time.

I don't want anyone talking about divisive political stuff, though, only because there's enough of that out in the world, want to keep it supportive in here on AC. I have opinions. So do all of you. This isn't an area, politics, where those opinions matter here, though. They will only serve to divide. I don't want that.

My small whine: I have to go straight home after work and get my window AC unit installed right. We're getting a heat wave in Chicago the next few days and I am unprepared. I knew it was coming, sigh. I should've got the unit in already but... procrastination and all...

Yup, politics are never a good topic - it gets ugly fast, especially in the current political atmosphere, with the players that are involved. Let's just not go there. My own son and I can't even agree on that one. He keeps bringing it up and I keep telling him we need to agree to disagree, because he's never going to change my mind, and I'm never going to change his. I don't have to support his candidate of choice to be his mother and love him. He's been heavily influenced by his father on this, and he and I have *never* seen eye to eye on that, among other things.

Heat wave here in Michigan too, Ali. As much as I try NOT to buy things for my daughter so that she will *finally* stand on her own two feet, they have no A/C and live in a 3-story townhome with bedrooms all in the upper floor. Incredibly hot with heat indicies over 100* starting tomorrow - heat warnings have already been issued. I suspect next week I'll be looking at getting her a window A/C unit - there's only one place to put it in her home, but at the very least, *that* part of the home will be cool and they can camp out on the floor at night in that room if needed until it cools down some. (She lives in subsidized housing and they only allow ONE A/C unit per home, and it has to go in the one space they've created for it.)

My own small window A/C unit is working overtime today - it rained last night and then got hot today - so it's humid as heck out there. No walkies for me and the pup tonight, I'm afraid. Just too darn hot.

Send you will be fine on your mini mental exam as long as you can remember the names of every President, their dates, their wives names, how many children they had and where they lived before moving to the White House. Oh and I forgot then names of their pets too.
Much easier with the British Monarchy, they tend to live for a very long time.

Now the mamograms, I must admit to being a very late starter but I have never had more than slight discomfort.

As far as the fake eyebrows go I at first thought you were refering to our suprime leader!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Trudeau seems to be a pretty smart cookie. He must have learned a lot at his father's knee.

I think we all share some of the same problems with the men in our lives when they are sick. Mine complains and screams bloody murder but will he go to a Dr or the ER, no way no how till someone decides for him and calls 911. He constantly reminds me that he is as sick as I am and I really underestimate the pain he is in. Maybe be but the sound effects are very convincing.
I selected a new pharmacy about five miles from the house and my lovely new PCP (DD approved) wrote all new precriptions as NYS does not allow them to be transferred. Well they were ready and I asked him to pick them up. Fuss fuss fuss. Do you know the address? Are you sure this is the right pharmacy? How do you know where it is" Couple of miles past your favorite grocery store on the left on Rt 28. "It's not on that road it's on Jones Road" and and on it went. Then well why don't you come with me to show me the way then I"ll actually go in and pick up the stuff" "I don't feel well enough to go out that's why I asked you" I printed off the map and the directions but he still had to go and look it up himself. Have I mentioned that I am totally incompetent recently, not to mention not very smart either. i keep control of the money - he never balances a checkbook - never has. i pay all the bills before they get lost or we receive late fees. pay everything off each month so we don't get into the kind of debt we once were in. Try not to let him get his hands on the mail so i know what just came. That's enough for one whine.

The cashier asked: "Would you like to make a donation."
It was loud getting food to go, I said: "What?"
"Would you like to make a donation?", She replied in her tinny, high pitched voice.
"NO"
"Would you like to round up instead?"
"What?"
"Would you like to round up instead?"
"I don't even know what you mean, so NO!"
Sheesh, what was the donation even for? I later wondered.

Can't we buy food without being put on the spot?

Send, I recently encountered that a store. They asked if I wanted to donate. I said no. She asked if I wanted to round up - and the difference will go to the donation. Huh? Didn't I say no???? Sigh... out of guilt, I said yes to the round up.... I really hate that. I need to learn to be firm. And make my 'no' be a 'no'. Sucker...

Hi everyone...Not really much different going on here. My honey has a new thing...he says I don't know what I am doing whether taking blood pressure, changing out his IV bag etc. (The visiting nurse told him that I did it perfectly). Sigh....Think if he heads down the road he was on before he went into the hospital/rehab (verbal abuse) I am either going to put our door mat in front of him and say argue with it or I am going to figure out a way to make a post and tell him there is his whipping post. Don't try to use me. He is behaving himself right now though he is mad that I did not go to bed when he ordered me too. Oh well.... I am not 6. (smile) and am trying to finish a painting I am working on. If he tells me one more time I don't know what I am doing. I am going to tell him fine...you do it. You are on your own. Did I say I didn't have anything to whine about? Oooops. Y'all have good night!

My whine, our K-cup coffee maker decided it had brewed enough coffee over the years. My main problem was trying to convince sig other that we need to buy a new one. Oh no, he said just let the coffee drip, drip, out into the coffee cup, at that rate it would have taken 2 hours to get a cup of coffee :P

Nope, the machine was now making a small grinding noise, not a good sign. Then I head a pop inside the machine and quickly pulled the plug out of the wall. If sig other had his way, the kitchen might have been on fire !!

Gahhh, FF - not the Keurig!!

That's like having a death in the family.

I'm *so* spoiled by my Keurig - I've had one ever since they first came out - so far I've had 3 of them over the years. First one lasted quite a long time, 2nd one lasted about 3 years before starting to short cup and make that tell-tale grinding noise (usually means the pump is going bad). Dear brother bought me a new one for Christmas 2 yrs ago and it's still going strong.

I even have a Keurig mini that travels with me on vacations because hotel room coffee is usually not worth drinking. :-) I have a little "coffee kit" I take with me - my Keurig mini, my k-cups, my sweetner & creamer, plus a bottle of spring water. I have very few luxuries in my life, but my coffee is one of them.

My whine for today: It's HOT!!!

Made a cat transport today, still no A/C in my van. Fortunately, the morning was relatively cool and it was about 20 degrees cooler at my destination. Unfortunately, the 2.5 hr drive home was NOT. 93+ all the way home, humid from previous rain storms and no A/C.....ugh! I can't wait to take a shower. It's taken me about an hour to cool down since I got home.

The storms I went through were mild compared to what hit the northernmost areas of Michigan today....oh my gosh. The towns being featured on the news are where my parents were from (general area) - 4-6' of water in some places, streets turned into rivers, landslides of mud and huge rocks/boulders clogging the streets after the water receded. Homes all but destroyed, businesses wiped out, roads completely torn up and destroyed....what a mess.
