Stick with us, we are a huge group of caregiver friends who want the best for you!
Reminds me of Veronica, when everything went south physically, and she is still with us today. We got the power! Or, know the one who IS.

Here, so many hugs for you!

MsMadge,
The heat has arrived, yeah, oh yes it is here.
Please do not hesitate to go to a hotel if that is where the air conditioning is at.

Do they keep the air on at work 24/7?  Not likely, but if it is cool and they have a lounge, shelter in place?

What is this country coming to? This is insane!

"A 92-year-old woman shot her son to death over his plan to move her into an Arizona retirement home." She tried to kill her 72 year old son's girl friend but she got the gun from her.

Cmag there was a thread devoted to that news story. I agree it is insane, sure we have gun violence here in Canada but I imagine most Canadians have never owned a gun let alone a hand gun. I just can't understand the whole gun culture thing going on in the USA.

Becky, Many many {{{Hugs}}} and well wishes from me!

I saw this terrible news story too. I don't get what is going on with guns either. I don't understand why this woman had guns if she was somehow failing. Maybe the son did not know she had them. How awful. Assisted living would surely have been better than a jail cell and endless court dates for this woman. My husband's cousins took their dad's gun away when he started with dementia. He never noticed.

Thanks Katie! C.Willie I live in a gun culture state and I don’t understand it either. PJ and his sons own hunting rifles and shotguns. They stay in a gun safe except during hunting season.

I had blood work drawn twice this afternoon. All the paperwork, releases, etc. so everything is a go for tomorrow at a 5:00 am. My brother Jay has gotten back and will stay with me at night so PJ can take care of things at home. Ordinarily, this kind of stuff is something I can meet head on. This time I’m dreading the process. Maybe because I know what’s going to happen. And the whole transplant thing makes me really necessary. Thanks for all of the kind words and support. I truly appreciate them.

My DIL called - she is at home in Bakersfield - they’re 105. She’s leaving for Juneau Alaska on business Sunday. Hoping it will be cooler there. My son is disappointed it has been so unseasonably hot in Maine, but still better than CA by a long shot. Everyone try to stay cool.

Thanks MsMadge, I will. Me and my cat.
Picking her up tomorrow after her surgery.
I usually do not go out at all in 110 degree heat, but the shelter has ordered it if I want the cat.

You take care too. Hotels in other cities are good too, if nearby.

Becky, my Mom had quadruple heart bypass surgery when she was eighty and she came through with flying colors so please think positive thoughts. In the meantime, think of happy, positive things. Try to focus on the positive. That will go a long way in helping things go successfully.

We are all on your side. (((((Hugs)))))

Yes, the gun culture in the States has got to change. But with a buffoon like Trump in office.........................well, need I say more!

Send, when you bring your kitty home, put ice cubes in its water bowl. Also, if it's really warm in your place let your kitty sit in the bathtub if it wants cause it's cool on the porcelain.

The gun culture in the states IS changing; more and more bad guys have gotten them in the last TEN years..... they get them no matter WHAT the laws are - because they don't CARE.

Becky, may the Good Lord intervene and assist the surgeon in repairing whatever is needed. May you recover quickly with minimal pain. You're in our thoughts and prayers.

Cold wet towel on face and around neck helps, too in the heat.

Soak feet in cold water add some ice. Do the same with hands up to wrists. Doing this cools pulse points which will cool down everything else.

Gershun,
Thanks, will be making bottled water ice cubes tonight. I think the porcelain bath tubs went out with affordable housing, and maybe they make them only for the rich and famous now. Ours is fiberglass.
Our home is relatively cool with the central heat pump/air conditioner running all night.
It is just no way to save money, when my heat sensitivity starts at 74 degrees. I think kitty will love sleeping in the bath tub! An exciting time for me!
I had to get petting gloves for when I play with her, because if her claw gets me, I will itch!

Lu, Yes, mommy loves you kitty, come here to mama! People make fun of this all the time, as big tough guys say I am not the cat or dog's mother! Bullys just fade away...imo.

MsMadge, With an AARP Discount? Did you try AAA? Unbelievable, but when traveling out of town, Super 8 was $54, and no bed bugs at all! Good air conditioning too.

(We check for bedbugs).

There are posted cooling centers for people without air conditioning.
When last at the senior center I was calling for a ride out of there, and a staff member walks by and asks if I am all right! No, I wasn't, let me out, it is too hot!

Well maybe the 90 year old woman down here who was raped wishes she had a gun or rifle. Police cannot be everywhere every minute help is needed.

Hi Everyone! This is Jay, Becky’s brother writing. Surgery is over and she is in recovery room. PJ, her son and I talked to her surgeon. There were a few problems. Because of her chest being cracked for her first surgery, her sternum was not completely healed. When they cracked it this time there was some splintering which had to be repaired. Because this surgery had to be performed so quickly they didn’t have time to get her off Coumadin and on Lovenox. She lost a lot of blood. He said she should recover but that it probably will be a long, hard recovery. The next decision she will have to make is whether to go on transplant list. She is a poor candidate because of co-morbidities. She may instead have to choose to get a heart pump - LVAD surgery. The pump is supposed to last 10 years - longest anyone has lived with one is about 7 years. Big decision for her. PJ just saw her. He said he was shocked at her appearance since last night. He said she looked very frail. I will write again later.
