Gershun, I love your childhood saying “nobody loves me, everybody hates me, go in the garden, eat worms”. Especially if they chocolate covered.

Haha, does anyone remember the book How to Eat Fried Worms? I still think chocolate covered sounds better though.

I remember that book Frazz.

And I think also that Super Fudge ate a worm as well, or maybe that was a turtle?

Dad’s rendition was;
Nobody likes me, everybody hates me, I’m goin’ out and eat worms.
Great big fat ones, little tiny skinny ones, ewww, they make me squirm!

Good memories 😌

Father in law lives in our home. Mom in law did everything for him while alive. He is chauvinist but the big problem is the complete lack of privacy. He has no other activities and My hubby and I have become his socialization. We do everything for him ( dr appts, cook meals, etc) but he is completely clueless about giving us privacy. I find I hide out in my bedroom just to have time away from his ever present presence I feel guilty because he is old but he is so needy and wants somebody to listen to his stories. Any advice?

Blizzard two weeks ago and now mosquitos coming out already?! But cold temps again by Friday, today high 60's, snow Friday. Maybe it will kill a bunch of these bloodsuckers.😕 But I guess spring has arrived.🌻

Maggie, Maybe find a little place like a reading chair in your bedroom. Have you tried putting on some headphones? Sometimes I would use headphones even though I wasn't listening to anything, to signal that I was busy at the moment and it was "me time". I used this when I was gardening at my old place to keep a very nosy neighbor away.

My whine today is the never ending Winter. No snow but it is always cold and gloomy. Another thing that is getting me mad is the excuses made why people didn't send me birthday cards....the excuses are lame. I wish they wouldn't blubber excuses. It makes it worse. If they don't want to do birthdays then we just won't do them, simple!
(5)
Report

We stopped the whole birthday thing with my siblings years ago. I don't expect a card or even a phone call at this point. Occasionally someone remembers and that's nice and if one of us has a big one like a 50th or 60th, etc. We may get together for that but honestly I prefer it when we don't. The family dynamics are such that it ends up feeling strained.

Birthdays should be celebrated backwards after 65.......
HB 64, HB 63, HB 62, etc. etc.

Especially for March (spring) babies.

I am going to start lying about my age. All my friends have forever!
One would think our bestest lady friends would have shared the truth all these years. It is hard to hide once they are going on Medicare, slip and tell you.
Yeah, that too, start to slip and fall!

But, aging alongside as the years go by. What were they thinking, or laughing that they may have often felt the same way, but keeping it to themselves.

Feeling betrayed, now am understanding some are narcissists, some were taught to lie about their age, it is tradition? Maybe it is a rite of passage. Even men do lie about their age. My son, an example, created a birth certificate to say he was 21, not younger.

It will be hard to start lying at my age......I will have to check with my son how old he says he is, so I won't end up younger than him. Lol.

Send....I knew a lady that not only lied about her age,but she also cut the tags out of all of her dresses and lied about her size....Anyone with eye's knew she wasn't a size 4 though and she sure wasn't 50 years old either~

Surprised here today....dH has just crossed a boundary....towards the hoarding end of the hoarding spectrum.
Trash can, and a recycling can, sitting in the middle of our kitchen. Already NOT ok with me.
But just now, found stuff on the floor, "pending" putting into the recycling trash can. Actually trash on the floor. Trash on the floor. No, really, trash on the f l o o r !
No No NO NO No!!!!

That is not all, but in comparison, I am letting everything else fade.....

My solution will be expensive. Undercounter slide-out recycle bins. At least until any ants show up.

Will that work????

Amazing, I am not screaming yet. That is the benefit of therapy.

Going shopping..............

Wash your recyclables and there won't be any ants. I'm serious, we always kept the recycling just off the kitchen in the laundry room so I wasn't gonna allow any gross leftovers to stew in the bottoms of the cans and bottles.

I had to laugh about lying about your age, I guess I am simply not vain enough. I once went a whole year telling everyone I was a year OLDER than I am,, hubs finally broke it to me.. LOL I tell everyone at work that I am "old" and they have to listen to me. Luckily I am plump and have no wrinkles and very little gray hair,, no one guesses my age.. There is a benefit to having a few extra pounds..

My aunt lied about her age and country of birth...even her kids had only a rough idea of her age. After she passed, we learned the truth...there it was on the passenger manifest on ellisisland.org.

Maggie, did you tell him?! That is the starting point, and then just make boundaries and make time for yourself. If you have to, maybe even put a loveseat in your bedroom, a tv in there, a radio in there and a refrigerator and wine cooler and microwave...... and then retire to your "boudoir" for the evening together for relaxation ALONE.

Maggie, seems like it would be tough to get time away from someone who is ever present in your home, and doesn't want to do much of anything else besides spend his time with you and hubs. But you could try giving FIL more entertainment in his room, maybe. Does he have a tv in there? If you can get him a TV and access to his favorite shows, would he entertain himself more in his room? Or does he like to play cards, poker? There are no-money game sites online. Anything that gets him entertaining himself, spending more time in his room on a computer or watching television, it seems that would be a way to get him to be a little more to himself.

Took MIL to get her taxes done yesterday. She walked out of her house and left the tax envelope on her dining rm. table. The other day she left without her coat when we went out to eat. Today my husband is crabby as heck, howling about his BP though the cardiologist says it looks good with the med adjustment, and the factory noise is wong wonging away since 7 am. At least they did not start at 3 am like the usually do. Some luxury condo!! Builder says take it up with the city, city says take it up with the builder.....We didn't buy from builder but a former owner now deceased. Then this morning a moving truck pulls up, blocks our garage, and the neighbor in back even closer to the noise moved out. Supposedly noise lessens when the woods back there green in...it is always cold so don't see that happening anytime soon. I had hoped to move to a warmer place someday but can't because of MIL....looks like I am either stuck in this place or have to buy another in this state with high property taxes and bad weather. Thanks for letting me vent. It beats driving to some parking lot and crying my eyes out in the car for all I went through with my mom and now this. Look forward to another night of sound machines and ear plugs jammed in my ears.
I hope you all are having a better day than me.

Katie I know the though of moving again sucks, but I'd bite the bullet and go - the noise pollution is stressful whether you are consciously hearing it or not, and it magnifies every other dissatisfaction.

We went today to open the river house for the season, and test run the new heat pump.. took FIL.. and horray!! He paid me!! And the new unit is awesome,, went from the 50 we leave it at to 68 in about 20 minutes!! I washed out all the mouse poop ( yes I feel icky) that gets under the bathroom and kitchen sinks, and on the table and counter tops.. so although I know there will be some more the worst is over. I leave the place dang near sterile,, and we still get mice! They want out of the cold too I guess. Beds made, towels up.. only one tub to clean out yet and I can do that next time. I did not put out the paper goods, they just shred it. And believe it not last year they ate the dang soap bars that were left out! Who would have thought!

There are ways to get rid of mice. I would suggest poison they eat and generally die elsewhere. A certain way of telling them their lease is up!

cwillie, I plan to move in about a year and a half, whatever happens. The inventory of available housing is awful the past several years here. A lot of this depends on what happens with MIL. My husband is her only caregiver now that his sister has died. He doesn't want to leave the area yet. Its either a warmer place someday, or a different place around here. Meanwhile I am using up things and scaling down.

Pam, we had mice in the garage and storage area of our old condo all of a sudden. I tried one of those plug in sound repellers and it kept them away after we put out traps and got several.

(whine); DH needs a colonoscopy (long put off) and now has kidney stones that need to be gotten out.

Saw the uro-surgeon today. He will do the "go in and get those stones" the day before Passover. DH is on blood thinnners which complicates stuff. Whenever we do one of these "minor" procedures, there are issues. Trying to figure out plans for holidays.

And wondering about two anethesias. Asked Uro doc today if they ever do colonoscopy and this surg together. He said they tried it once years ago and never again.

Can't schedule any vacations until all of this is done!

Daughter #2 is moving tomorrow. D#1 is moving back in to her apt after having some bathroom repairs done. Arrived back home today to find a "bed bug" notice from management under her front door.

There's a lot of gnashing of teeth going on right now.
