So our dog had hip surgery yesterday but the dislocation had atrophied her hip muscles so badly that she had to have her leg/hip amputated and we just brought her home today. She's a sweetheart and is a trooper but Mom is having a hard time handling it and making it all about her.....

Poor dog. How old is she? Will she be able to walk?

Not a whine but a follow-up to DH's unsuccessful ureter stent placement.

Met with an interventional radiologist/urologist at a major NYC hospital today and now have a plan of action for a procedure. He will try what the last doc couldn't do (try to place the stent from below) and if he is also unsuccessful, will go through DH's back/kidney/down the ureter, etc.

Prostate issue is a separate thing; he made the whole picture much more clear to DH and me.

Wising you both well, Barb. My own DH is going to have a shock wave procedure done later this month. I feel anxious reading what your husband is going through.

Thanks so much, guys! I feel much more confident about this doc and about the hospital.

My husband grew up in Brooklyn and had kidney surgery at a Brooklyn hospital back when he was a teen. His mom got him a decent doc, but in those days, folks from Brooklyn didn't travel to " the City".

I think he's learned that he needs to go with the big guns on York Avenue, given his back story.

I got a text from sis that they are sending BIL home today, this despite previously saying he would be in the hospital 7 - 10 days. Sis is frantic because she is working all weekend and there is no food in the house, plus she isn't sure how she will get him up the stairs into the house. I guess I'm hitting the grocery store tomorrow morning and coming to the rescue, I plan to make a big pot of soup. They really need to toss all the canned and pre made crap in the house because I know BIL is non compliant (thinks he knows better).

Polarbear and Katie, thank you! Angel is almost 14 and 4 days after surgery is doing pretty well.... Mom and I are both watching out over her and I've found a new support online tripawds.com which is very helpful. When her incisions heal, then rehab will start ... right now she can hop a few feet on 3 :) Poor baby...

Glad to hear good news from everybody. Now... I'd like an advice. My mom now guilt trips everyone, saying she feels this or that because people talk back to her, make her nervous, etc. She is like so since we were kids. When me and my brothers misbehaved, she would go "That's how my mother died. She got nervous, nervous and died.".
Anyway.
She is saying this "everybody is fighting me, no wonder I feel this or that" and now she is saying "The TV on your room is the only good one in the house, it shows good colours, it's closer to the sofa/bed", etc.
Meaning, I lost my only refuge on her house. Is there any way I can tell her to skidaddle without making her whine?

Grrrrrrr, I have 3 whine moments! Washing machine broke! Of course I have clothes to wash. Will have to go to laundry mat.

Daughter’s car broke, $1200 to fix!

Rain in New Orleans! I have Jazz Fest tickets, going tomorrow, not supposed to rain tomorrow but the fest is held at our Fairgrounds and the ground will be super sloppy! I’m talking so sloppy that people have to wear rain boots!

Barb,

Hope things go well with hubby. My husband only goes to the doctor if he absolutely can’t stand the pain anymore. It’s horrible that he puts off going to the doctor. I worry about him not getting checkups. Last time he went was for his rotator cuff surgery. He just won’t go to the doctor. He doesn’t even have a primary care physician. The one he saw years ago retired.

coyote, get a tv for her room. I got one for my mom's room; they have some really inexpensive ones nowadays. We painted her room and got a few things to make it feel light, bright and like a garden, and now a tv, so she oftentimes enjoys the alone time. And the other night when she got in a tiff, she does all this muttering under her breath and said I guess I'll just go to bed... or something like that, and I shot right back and said, that's a good idea! And off she went!

Arrgghh!  I never thought about Executor of the Will.  It hit me by surprise, and I am having anxiety every time I sit down to work on it. My aunt's will was written in Maine, but she died just over the state line in a New Hampshire Nursing Home.  In order to get any leftover money back from them, it has to be approved by the probate court in N.H.  and done in a month.  Only one last thing - they want the original will, not a photocopy or scanned in will.  I don't know why it is bothering me.  I'll get it copied and notarized at the town office, then mail the original.  Then go order the stone marker for cemetery.  Will everything ever be all finished?

We have had very few days that haven't been below seasonal, today we're at 10°C. My furnace is keeping the house at 68°F (yes, the thermostat is american and measures in fahrenheit) but I WANT MORE HEAT. And just when I thought I'd make myself go out for a walk it's started to rain, again. Great.

Glad,
Allergies from the wind, now my eyes need checking, everything appears cloudy
looking out from my right eye.

Cwillie,
68° is just 3° too cold in the mornings. My bird won't come out of it's cage until it is 71° - 73° F. This takes the chill out of the air for the first hour, then I lower the thermostat, or turn it off on a day that is warming up.

Cold, cloudy, or rainy here in Maine, too.  We celebrate when sun is out, even if it's windy and less than 60 F
And yes, allergies too, but my asthma turned into bronchitis.
