Golden - just buy deck wash, it's not expensive. I like Home Hardware's Natura Mildew Off.

Oh my, the wood smoke from somewhere is hurting my chest. It smells quite strong at times. I don't need this!!! I looked up the forest fire info and there is nothing near, thank goodness, but we all know that smoke will travel.

Oh no Golden. Your chest hurts? That's not good. Monitor that. If it continues, go to the hospital. (((HUGS)))

Thx Gershun. It's fine now -went away with the smoke and I'm not coughing any more. Just an allergy.

Thx again, Gershun. BTW I don't go to hospitals. I have gone for mammograms as they have the equipment there but I don't remember the last time I went for anything else.

I don't like going to hospitals either Golden. I don't blame you. I always have flashbacks of my mom's last days whenever I'm in a hospital environment.

Speaking of mammograms, I had mine yesterday. It was a diagnostic mammogram because last year's led to a biopsy. I felt nausea when she kept going over and over the same area but she said nothing's changed since last years so that's good at least. I need to be extra careful cause my mom had breast cancer and my dad died of pancreatic cancer.

50 mile detour on the way home today! UGH! I need to remember to check the road projects on the website. The up side, I saw an area of the state that I never have before.

Huge phone/internet/interact outage across Canada this morning. Glad I kept my landline.

cw - I gather that was R*gers. A bit scary to think it can happen on that scale.

I have them as my cell phone provider but fortunately not for the internet and home phone or I'd be feeling the pain. Reports are that no debit payments anywhere had many people scrambling this morning, good thing I still carry some cash so I could get my Tim's and groceries.
And there is still no timeline for things to be fixed either.

Canadians, I am sorry to hear that. I feel.your pain. How are you able to post?

I have had Verizon internet for almost a year with no outages to speak of. My previous provider was awful, outages would last for days and they were frequent.

Get your tims? Tims coff ee?

glad - there are lots of other providers. I am not with R*gers and haven't have any problems. Happy your new provider is much better.

Hey Canada! Are things any better today?
CWillie, thanks for that reminder about keeping some cash.

My phone started to recover last night with access to 911 only and today things seem to be back on track. We Canadians have been griping about the monopoly in digital services for years but what are you gonna do, they've got us by the xxxx.

CWillie,
Not sure exactly what happened. I heard the banks closed.
Are the banks dependent upon a digital provider (a cell phone company?)?

How widespread was this-all the banks, all the cell phones?
What caused this, does anyone know?

Apologies if I got this wrong, my source is iffy, waffely, and not always correct.

Can this happen to the U.S.?

Why is this not in this morning's news?

Just found an updated report online/Washington Post.

Hoping everything gets better up Canada way! 🇨🇦

Rogers whole network was down including many subsidiaries that buy their services from Rogers- phone, internet and TV as well as Interac which is the digital brains behind all debit transactions (and apparently many ATMs). Businesses that rely on their internet to do business couldn't connect to the web, businesses that rely on their phone service couldn't make or receive calls. This is the second time it has happened but it wasn't nearly as wide spread the first time. But there are only 3 big players in the market so... what are ya gonna do🤷

People will need to relearn how to live without the internet someday.
Whether that is for a temporary time, or forever, I do not know.

Hi! Not venting or whining, just very embarrassed. It has nothing to do with caregiving.

Today I had to give an important speech. I started off well, and then totally messed up towards the end (kind of like stage fright).

I’m very, very embarrassed.

My "whine moment" is trying to deal with my mother's frustration of not be able to do things. She's 93, legally blind, and in assisted living. She was very upset today that she couldn't get someone on the phone....when I dialed the number it was a company not the person she was trying to get. So I tried telling her she probably got a digit wrong...and to ask someone there to read it to her or have a staff person dial the number since she can't see very well and her dexterity is poor. She will never admit she may have dialed it wrong... I thought it might be better if she went to the contacts on her phone and then call..therefore, not dialing having to dial a number but there's way too many steps involved to do that...just don't know of any phone that might help. The Vision people have been coming but so far they have very little to offer in terms .of helping her. Anyway I always feel bad when I loose my patience with her...I know I should just listen to her...she has very little dementia...but maybe it's getting worse.

Just an update on my total embarrassment:

I wanted to hide, but it was a big room, impossible to hide. Anyway, today is the day after, and I’ve already forgotten it. Many people didn’t notice; and those who did, were kind. There were more events today, so we all met again. Today, I had a great day.

I’m really glad this forum exists. I was so embarrassed yesterday, and this forum (even when it’s just seeing a “like”) (or even just the fact that one has a chance to express oneself; confess embarrassment), one feels better; kindness from others.

Venting, I can relate to stage fright. My dignity and self-confidence can take a big hit. But then, hopefully, we shake it off quickly. It sounds like you did that -- you shook it off and continued the next day. To me, that's a win! Kindness and empathy from others have helped me, too. I'm glad you shared it here.

For me, practicing/desensitization helps. I notice I'm MUCH improved in my school videos/slide presentations -- not so much improved in how good I am at them, only that I'm beyond the point where I get flustered. I'm able to "roll with it." I credit that ability entirely to practice/desensitization, i.e., confronting the anxiety source repeatedly.

My whine today: I have a gnarly sinus infection. I remembered that I have some colloidal silver sinus spray. It's an OTC product, and it helped get rid of previous chronic sinus infections. I had forgotten about the recurring infections I used to have, and now I don't! Silver linings...

I had terrible dreams all last night. Infections can do that to me. Plus full moon. I have no clue exactly what/why these things happen, only that it feels devastating. :( It isn't, of course, but it's small torture.

So I ordered some sushi with extra-extra wasabi. lol Delivery is on the way now, and I can't wait to burn this infection out through horseradish fumes. lol

Four weeks until I graduate. One day at a time, but you better believe I'm counting them down.

*Just thought to do nasal irrigation with a hydrogen peroxide solution. I think it would help. Any other suggestions? Appreciate it.

Ah, man. All I can say about hydrogen peroxide solution nasal rinse (I mixed about 1:3 saline water) is -- NEVER AGAIN. I found support for it through a Google search; also found another report that said, "never use it in a nasal rinse." How do you know who to trust...? I tried it and rate it a big Heck No. Also, I hope the little bit I used is enough to kill my bug. Filed under: cures worse than the disease. 😂

Ali,
Growing up, as kids, we were taught never to put anything up our nose! Lol.

But you can gargle, deep back in your throat. Dilute the H2-O2.

Honk it back, then spit it out. Just like in the movie Titanic, when Jack was teaching Rose how to spit off the bow of the ship.

Feel better soon!
(2)
Report

Thank you, Send, and lol. :) The blood/gross is coming from higher in my sinuses, up under my eyes. I don't know that a throat gargle would help enough. I hope the one shot of peroxide solution was enough to turn the corner on it. It was worth one try, I think -- stunningly painful, though. Thanks again... I'm just whining away over here. Thank you. 😌

Oh Ali! Yikes!

I prefer colloidal silver for any nasal issues.

If you have fairly regular sinus infections, I have infectious allergies 2xs a year, I have found a good cleanse, used a Nettie pot for years and now I use a navage, stops this cycle. Of course, I use CS on a fairly regular basis, for everything. I make it by the gallon.

Please use the CS and take lots of vitamin C, no more internet cures girlfriend!

I have the shiver me timbers thinking about hydrogen peroxide hitting that infection in a nasal cavity. I hope you are okay.
