Our weather doesn’t feel like the Christmas season at all!

Went out earlier to meet friends for coffee at PJ’s and to buy a couple of last minute gifts and it was so muggy in the 70’s!

Cool front is supposed to be moving through.

Today's whine: Struggling to come up with something to be thankful for, I thanked God that we had no diarrhea to deal with in the last few days. I realize this is a rather strange thing for which to be thankful, but I definitely meant it sincerely. Of course, God must have gotten a good laugh. Even as I was focusing on my gratitude, my mother was calling me. Yep, massive clean up needed, her, the bed pads, sheets, everything. To make it even more laughable, she had just been given a bath by the hospice CNA an hour before. Does this count as a whine?

Teacher,

I’d say that certainly counts as a ‘double’ whine! My whine about the weather pales in comparison to yours. I’m sorry that you are dealing with these issues.

I remember having those days with my mom.

Sometimes we do wonder about God’s sense of humor, don’t we?

It’s tough dealing with those massive clean ups!

Beatty,

I love hearing birds ‘talking’ to each other.

Did you ever see the movie Funny Farm? It’s an old movie starring Chevy Chase where he is a city guy who moves to the countryside to become a writer.

There is a scene where he is sitting at his typewriter to write his great American novel and he is enjoying listening to this sweet little bird singing outside of his window.

He becomes annoyed by bird and tosses his cup of coffee out of the window at him. It’s such a cute movie!

Sounds sort of like your little bird chirping near your place. LOL 😝

Rare December tornados in Texas and Oklahoma. So sad.

Our weather forecast just predicted tornado warnings for our area tomorrow.

Just crazy weather going on!

Winds are gusting throughout Louisiana! Tornado warnings. Pretty crappy looking weather today 😟.

Well, there’s damage throughout Louisiana due to tornadoes. Sadly, some injuries and a few deaths. Shelters are open for people in need.

We are below sea level so flooding is always an issue in our city with heavy rain.

So grateful that our family remained safe and no damage to our property.

Crazy time of year for these types of storms.

5 degrees Fahrenheit this morning! I think I need to go out. But, maybe it can wait. Cold weather? Great money saver!

Glad,

That’s too cold for me! Brrrrrrr…

All I had to deal with was picking up a lot of branches from trees. The high winds always knock down tons of branches.

Hey, I am not complaining. Lots of destruction throughout Louisiana. Fortunately, we’re okay

Winter arrives on Wednesday, so naturally, a Wind Chill watch! I need a husky to help keep me.warm😉😉 and the breed would love what is coming. Predicted lows Wednesday through Thursday of 50 below! Now I think I have had the discussion with my Canadian friends to keep those fronts up there. Heck we are finally beginning to recover from last week's blizzard.I

And in addition just got a notification that heavy snow is possible those same days!

My whine is about nursing homes. The kind the non-rich have to go to. They all seem to use foreign women as CNAs .Some of these seem fine many hate their job. I was in 3 homes. Three meals a day, no snacks, no extra coffee or cokes. If you
asked for something the answer was the kitchen is closed. Sometimes I was told that's not in my contract. Somewhere there are schools where they teach a quick course on CNA, you pass a test, get certified. You now have a skill that will get you into the country.

The thing is that people raised in the US and Canada won't accept the crappy pay and working conditions that these facilities offer, I know of more than one former PSW who is now working in fast food because the hours, pay and benefits are better. And while they may still need to deal with people with an attitude there's nobody asking them to change a soiled diaper.

Relocation ruminations. The next chapter in the soap opera deserves a whine. This move is really fraught with obstacles.

After much effort and some consultation with experts it has been decided that the flooring I purchased cannot be properly installed in the condo, so it will be scrapped. The remaining will be put up for sale as it will work on a wood sub floor just not on concrete (although the manufacturer said it would). Now we are looking for other engineered hardwood that will work on concrete and probably I will get someone to install it. R is very busy with animals right now, and the floor needs to be done ASAP. I did expect hitches in this process of moving, but not as many.

We are going through a cold spell with lots of wind and I decided (foolishly as it turned out) to visit my middle son at the college as I was downtown yesterday. I parked a little way away and walked over only to find that the door A that I aimed for wouldn't open, so I walked a fair way around the buildings and no doors opened (they needed cards) and I was getting colder and colder. Finally a student saw me and opened a door for me. He said door A should have opened. I wonder if the mechanism was frozen, So I marched down to the other end of the college to find out that my son wasn't in that day. Okay! Mission aborted. Then another walk in the cold and wind to get to my car. I don't think I am going to do that again. Temps were about minus 28C (-18F) with wind chill minus 32C (-25F). I got some exercise but it wasn't any fun.

Golden, indeed it is ALWAYS something. Do you think the manufacturer would take any responsibility for the flooring issue here? I'd send them an email, at least. It's not the point, but you did YOUR due diligence, and I think they should give you something for your trouble.

ali - I have thought about that and they do need some feedback. R is very good at that sort of thing and we will discuss it. At the very least they will hear that, in our case, it doesn't work on concrete - this supported by a flooring contractor. I will ask for compensation but how much more I will do depends on my energy levels. I know with this type of complaint you usually need to persist and I am weary from all the guff I have had to deal with over other things. 😩

Golden, none of us here should be tromping around in those temps! I am sure your son was not at all happy with you.

The flooring company should buy back/refund your material particularly if it says on their information it will work on concrete!

glad - It's normal here. When it gets to another 5 to 10 degrees colder people start to stay in. I don't know if my son knows. I'm sure he will find out when he gets back at work. I don't know how much time he took off. I haven't told him. Thought I would let his department tell him. The receptionist seemed intrigued that I dropped by. Little surprise for him. I should have checked with him ahead of time that he would be there. My bad!

Yes, I should be refunded. I don't know how many hoops I will have to go through to get there, You know they won't make it easy. Whatever. My main concern is getting new material that will work.

We were just saying how happy we are our AZ winter has returned and it is going to be in the 70s for the weekend.

We were in the 70’s a short time ago. We are finally getting a bit cooler here. We will be in the 40’s for Christmas.

We don’t have much of a Spring. We go straight into hot, muggy and humid summers.

Not much of a fall and winter either. I wish we had the beautiful fall foliage. Our leaves don’t turn all of the beautiful colors. They just turn brown and drop on the ground.

Excuse my total ignorance being a person from the south and not knowing how to deal with the freezing cold weather.

My daughter just called me and was rather frustrated because she can’t get her trunk open to get her suitcase due to the elements.

She went to visit her friend in Dubuque, Iowa, had a flight home which was canceled due to the weather. So, the only flight she could find was one from Cedar Rapids, scheduled for tomorrow, so she drove there to stay at a hotel before coming home tomorrow and then couldn’t open her trunk.

Is this a common occurrence? I can’t imagine being in weather so cold that the trunk doesn’t open!
