I'm tired of cooking/preparing 3 meals a day. It's just the two of us but boy oh boy can that woman eat!! She stays slimish, I get fattish. It's bad enough I do everything here much less start making her one thing and me the other. At times I feel guilty when I buy her fast food cuz of the nutritional value....not to mention I eat it too.
i feel like whining about something, but i don't know what. whine, whine, whine. so you know what?? i'll use this as an opportunity to make a pre-emptive whine.
in case there are very valid future whine-situations, i'm getting it out of my system already now. how organized of me, yeah?
whiiiiiiiiine. ❤️🙂
However, one thing I learned was that for love to be love there had to be both justice and mercy. The expectation she would raise her own kid and the reporting of anything illegal was justice, the mercy part is that I would have supported her to support herself and her child, had there been one, and I would have visited any kid of mine that landed in jail.
Re ingrown toenails - my middle son had that surgery years ago and as far as I know he has been fine since.
I find if I keep my big toenails cut straight across and just longer than the place where they "ingrow" I don't have any troubles. I have been surprised during pedicures to see the tech cutting them really short and rounded and in some cases "digging" in the corners. I instruct them to leave them longer and cut them straight across and leave the corners alone!!! Alva, I think you can fix this yourself.
Shoes that fit well - i.e. don't put any pressure on the big toe are important too.
Goodness, how did I survive some of the shoes I wore and walked miles in. I remember one pair of red Italian pumps - at least a 3 1/2" heel. I loved them and they were so comfortable!!! I walked and walked the streets of Montreal in them.
Hope your surgery fixes the problem, Barb,
My whine today - a bit of FM pain and sore throat. I have been doing much better with the CFS and FM but I feel like I am fighting a bug and don't think it is wise to get my covid booster till I feel better. Something always seems to get in the way.
Another whine - there is now only one lab in town for blood tests etc. so you can't get an appointment for over a week. It used to be a couple of days or walk in the same day. I think you can go on a waitlist for the next day afternoon (after 3) and take your chances. I don't like hanging around a lab waiting room with sick people. 🤧🤧🤧
Mom: Who said so?
Me: Your nurse. He said the walker will help you steady yourself.
Mom: Whose is it? Do YOU want it? Let's keep it in the kitchen so anyone can use it.
Me: it's yours mom. Keep it with you.
Mom: that's not mine. I never ordered that. If I'm going to use that thing then you can just roll it for me down the hall to the living room. Just roll it ahead of me and I'll catch up to it later.
Me: 🙄
Hopefully that makes some sense.
It's not the sort of ingrown thing that happens at the tip; this is an "ingrow" that occurs all along the side of the nail, despite how it it is trimmed. Appears to be hereditary, according to both of my docs.
Sometimes these things just "are".
Barb - Yes sometimes they just are. Learn something new every day! I am so sold on finding solutions outside of the drs office.
I think it may actually be starting to get better! I don't want to jinx myself though cause I've had good days and get optimistic and then WHAM! the next day not so good.
But my ankle and calve muscles and tendons are starting to loosen a bit I hope. They have been the problem even more than the metatarsal breaks. I still haven't gotten my MRI appt. though. Can you believe that! Three whole mths. and still no appt. The medical system in Canada used to be good. What happened?!
Still can't see very many veins on my injured foot. I've got all these thick, ropy looking ones on my good foot. That's how I know it doesn't look normal on my bad foot. I still feel there may be some nerve damage there and on my last orthopedic appt. she said that she thinks my ankle is unstable and there may be ligament damage. But I need to confirm these things with an MRI which I've been waiting (not so patiently) for. I see the ortho doc again next Tuesday. Hopefully I get a good update on that.
Anyway, there's a big vomit of info. for you all. LOL
natasana - I hear you. Your quality of life will go up. Hope the quality of your relationship with your mum does too.
Let’s face it, if our feet hurt, it seems like everything hurts!
I am at the age where I only wear sensible shoes 👟. I don’t know how my daughters wear heels 👠! Yes, I do. They are young! We aren’t young anymore.
I remember when I was in PT after my accident, they had a young woman there who had bunion issues. She said that she would never give up dancing in her high heels! LOL 😆 YOUTH!
My primary doctor recommended eating the main meal for lunch, and a lighter meal [with no bread, potatoes, pasta nor rice] for supper. Supper being before 7pm. And no munching after supper. It's better for one to have the body "fast" while sleeping.
And yes, doc suggested exercising, but that went in one ear out the other. Wait until my doc gets to my age, he will find it is not all that easy :) So what I do now, every time a commercial comes on TV, I get up and walk around the inside of the house. Boy, there is a lot of commercials !!
Glad to read that your hubby is on the mend. One time I was too thin, so what I did was drink Carnation Instant Breakfast along with my regular breakfast, and that helped.
Staying home, I was hard-pressed to order online, and it just would not take my order for several hours.
Received some White Chocolate Macadamia Nut fresh baked cookies just in time.
In time to eat them!
So happy that you’re feeling better. Hugs!
How does an ileocecal spasm feel?
Reason I ask is:
I recently started taking biotin. I took it for the usual old age thinning hair and for the fact I won't wear gardening gloves as I should--was getting some splitting in the nails, and my daughter told me she had the answer. Biotin. Started taking it in August.
THEN I started having these weird spasms. Felt like it was STOMACH, and not the gut, that is not the bowel. As I have a history of IBS I thought somehow just related. Often happened at night and awakened me, not involved with eating, and can only describe it as a spasm that started dull and felt like it slowly tightened and tightened, almost like a band of steel around just under the breasts, high stomach. Eventually I thought "Wonder if this is heart?" At 80 I kind of hoped so.
As is my wont I just ignored this. For months. It would come, last maybe 5" and go.
All of a sudden I am reading about vitamin reactions and see stomach spasm mentioned for biotin. I stopped the biotin and within four days the spasming began to lighten. Then was gone. I couldn't believe it. So I started on the biotin again. And yup. Spasms.
Recently my daughter was told that likely it was her vitamin C and cranberry tablet irritating her bladder. She stopped them and sure enough, what she thought was interstitial cystitis, bladder and urethral pain with no UTI but positive for leukocytes, went away.
We always look on vitamins as benign. But, they say, not so much. I had seen vit D reactions in ER. Scared patients. But hadn't thought of my own pills. Alas.
