991 homes lost in the fire. Yesterday a young family had their GMC Yukon stolen. The only vehicle they still had. It was loaded with what remains of their lives including photos of deceased relatives. It just makes me.ill.

The front range of Colorado has become a crime hub, is.so.expensive to live there. And the authorities really don't even try to locate stolen cars or who took them.. They would need an entirely new separate department just to handle the vehicles. It is not uncommon to Have more than 900 stolen cars in a month.

Actually worse than I knew.

Sickening it did not used to be like this.

-17 air temp here in the burbs of Mpls this morning. BUT the sun is out and the snow is sparkly pretty. My hubs (a MN native) says the cold "keeps out the riff-raff" (and the cockroaches) ;-)

I think I'm still wearing some stuff I bought in the 80's, the oversized baggy style items are perfect for the new larger me.

glad - I hear you!!! We are still in the grip of a very cold spell -though today is better at minus 21C (-6F) feels like -26 (-15F) as the wind has died down a bit. I think I'll brave the elements and go out and get the mail. The cessation of mail delivery to the house hasn't impressed me.

Purging closets always feels good! I keep a laundry basket in a spare bedroom and put stuff in it on an ongoing basis. If I buy something new I try to get rid of the same amount of old stuff. Doesn't always work but I gather old/unused clothing regularly.

Mr. Winter has decided we should try to compete with our Canadian friend and neighbors. It has been COLD for two days. Yesterday was single, but positive digits.😨😨

Today -2 with chill factor -25. Another day of hall.walking I think. Maybe work on cleaning out closets. Get rid of things that I haven't worn for 10+ years.

Check my avatar out. The Great Betty White doing what she did best. Loving and being loved by all the animals she set out to love and protect.

I always liked Betty White. She reminded me of my mom in some ways. She was a real advocate for animals which is one thing that I really loved about her.

R.I.P Betty White. Thx for all the laughs you gave us all throughout your 99 years.

Yes Golden it's good that way here. The weather problems here lately have been bizarre but climate change is hitting a lot of places now.

Gershun - I am originally from Ontario which has mild (compared to here) but snowy winters. I like the sun in the Prairies but prefer a little less cold than here. The humidity where you are is great.

Golden, you would be welcome here in Vancouver but it's so bloody expensive that you may need to win the lottery first. Just saying.....The winters are mild though, usually.

But if you are a prairie gal you would probably hate it here. Just saying......again. :)

Amazon Web Services experiences outages, crippling internet services.

by Associated PressTuesday, December 7th 2021
Amazon Web Services suffered a major outage Tuesday according to users. The company provides cloud computing services to individuals, universities, governments and companies including The Associated Press.

People trying to use Instacart, Venmo, Kindle, Roku, and Disney+ are reporting issues. The McDonald’s app is also down.

Amazon said in a post an hour after the outage began that it had identified the root cause and was “actively working towards recovery.” It did not disclose more about the cause.
The outage began midmorning on the U.S. East Coast, said Doug Madory, director of internet analysis at Kentik Inc, a network intelligence firm. “AWS is the biggest cloud provider and us-east-1 is their biggest data center, so any disruption there has big impacts to many popular websites and other internet services,” he said.

Things are okay here on the West Coast, but Aging Care is getting lonely today. Maybe others are affected?

cw - milder is the word for now. Eventually maybe close enough to Calgary to be in the chinook belt. I am told it makes a big difference.

Golden - years ago when you first posted about moving south I imagined you were in Edmonton and heading to Calgary, then I found out you were in the great white north and to you Edmonton "was" south. I think if you are dreaming of mild winters you will need to head Gershun's way😉

ali - thx for updating us, It is interesting about infant anorexia and the treatment. I don't have any trouble seeing why your life is so challenging. I'm impressed as to how well you are managing it all. It is great seeing your progress through the years you have been on AC. Very well done!!!!

My whine today is the weather - minus 27 C (that's -17F) feels like minus 36 (that's -33 F). I am not going out. I think it really is time to move in a southerly direction to a place where I can dispose of my garbage and pick up my mail without braving the elements. ❄🧊❄
