Pasa, I feel bad for you.The grankids just do not get it. I would sit down and have a serious talk with all of them. First of all they need to call you and find out if it is a convient time for visits with mom. These grandkids don't seem at all nice. Put your foot down now and don;t let anyone walk all over you. You are the caregiver for your motherr and what you say goes and tough if they don't like it. Yelling at you is disrespectful. I wish you the best and hope you find a solution soon.

Should have clarified my comment. Amazon is great! Prime is better! Only during the 4th holiday rush, the UPS and sellers were using delaying tactics.

I have enjoyed Amazon Prime for years, especially this last year when I could not get out. So enjoy your new account Earlybird!

Just ordered some 'professional' cleaning tools to make cleaning easier for myself, including some drill attachments with brushes and scrubbing sponges.
If I am going to pay a housekeeper to flit around a duster above the kitchen cupboards, I can do that too! [That is not how I do 'Spring cleaning'...I get up there and wash off the dirt, dust, and grease.] Same with the refrigerator top.
C L E A N . To clarify, I was happy to have a housekeeper come (just this once) and she did a good job overall. It is nice to have the faucets clean and shiny, no build-up of scale left! And the inside of stove-top was clean.

Amazon also has "free" E-books" that dH gets. He has a Kindle Oasis now, reads from that. He is very pleased to have Amazon.

What is a "FOMITE?" Definition of fomite
: an object (such as a dish, doorknob, or article of clothing) that may be contaminated with infectious agents (such as bacteria or viruses) and serve in their transmission. Books are a fomite. And what do you do when one is home, sick, in bed? Read a book. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Maybe buy new books?

Anyone recall the Velveteen Rabbit story? The stuffed rabbit was thrown out by the nurse, due to an infectious disease (maybe scarlett fever), and was found alive in the garden by the little boy who once owned the rabbit?

A brief whine because I've posted on this before but it just happened again. I will let it go I say to myself. Today there was another visit, unannounced, by the adult sibling grandkids of my mother this afternoon. Besides no announcement, there was no greeting or hello. Through the screen door, one was giving directions to me that I should bring mom to sit out in front. Earlier it was too windy and hot to take mom for a walk in her wheelchair, so sitting outside was not what she wanted. I went to the backyard to open the gate and it was even windier there. Walking from the front door to the back door, I apparently angered my niece who was yelling at me about what kind of bad example I was setting for the kids. It was windy and the front door slammed which she thought was my doing. Here we go, I said. I walked away to another room. There have been no other problems with others who have recently visited after vaccinations and this situation continues with these nieces, well with this one just now.

Golden, I have not tried the kindle unlimited,, I do get free books,, but I am very attached to my local library! I also read ALOT, and get all the new releases from them. I do love the Prime Video,, some great shows when I have time! Plus my DD has me on her Hulu and Netflix accounts.. but I don;t watch alot of shows so I would not buy them on my own. But some days you just want to binge watch something.., like Bridgerton.. LOL

Pamz - I would be lost now without Amazon. I have had very good experiences with them for the most part. The delivery service they use here is excellent which makes a big difference. And I am finding that Kindle Unlimited is well worth it for me. I read daily and very quickly so $5 to $10 or more a book adds up quickly.

We are Amazon Prime members. It’s very convenient. Delivery is prompt. Returns can be dropped off at Whole Foods and UPS.

My husband and daughters have tried Prime Wardrobe. This is a nice service. It’s limited to 8 items of clothing. You don’t pay in advance for the order. Return shipping is free. I believe that items must be returned within a week or so.

I have to say I LOVE AMAZON.. I have prime, and do a reasonable amount of shopping on it, as does my hubs.. we get better pricing and free shipping and it gets here pretty fast. The only time I got the wrong item it was a vitamen, and they told me to keep the wrong one and I had my replacement the next day. Plus I can find things I cant find in the stores. Like 3 pairs of "over my regular glasses sunglasses",, got 3 pairs for the price of one at the store,, and then 3 oversize nice cases for them,, very sturdy and I love them. And during the great shutdown,, I did alot of my Christmas shopping and found some wonderful things, and got to think outside the box and found things that were perfect for family and friends that I would not have found in stores,, or thought to look for. Hopefully your luck will improve!

Glad it was parts of a kitchen cart to be assembled by me. I have most of the parts now. I had bought from the Container Store before and was very pleased with the product, delivery etc. The parts on the packing slip were two drawer stops and a small rack to hang spoons etc on,

What I received was a 6' by 18" by 2" parcel which was heavy and contained an assortment of long metal pieces such as you mount on the wall and then use to hang shelving, and some other metal items I have no idea what they are. Even resealed it is too awkward and heavy for me to take to a DHL place to return. I can arrange a pickup, but in any case need the proper documents which I am waiting for. I sent the SKUs, and photos of everything. If they complain about the damaged packaging they have photos to see what I received. The shipment originated in the US and I was told they need the SKUs for the stuff to cross the border.

Obviously someone put the packing slip for my stuff on the wrong parcel.

send - our postal system will do that occasionally - saying I wasn't home when I most definitely was. It frustrates me. I have had a lag with updating info and having it actually functioning on a website.

I wonder if the great increase in online shopping has tested systems beyond their capacity.

Send, I know what you mean about lying. I hate that too. I will not do business with dishonest people. I am just trying out amazon for the first time and so far I am pleased. I get free Prime for about a month. Ordered a tarp for the pool but did not like it so I tried to return it and amazon gave me a complete refund and told me not to return it. Shipping is so quick. Sorry you had problems. They should have been upfront with you.

Golden, curious what you ordered and what you received. Here we can take shipments to be returned to Amazon to a UPS store, they will pack it and ship it!

Holiday interruptions with my deliveries too!
1) UPS wrote they tried to deliver package but 'office' was closed. No, they did not, we are not an office, but a residence, and we are always home. They lied. I hate lies. My response was to cancel the order(s).

2) Payment method needs updating. Go online, it says payment method was already updated. Waiting until tomorrow. Part of same shipment is due today.

Feeling jerked around by Amazon! My response will be to shop elsewhere.

Hey Glad, I love tablecloths too, and Wiliams Sonoma has some great ones! Hope you get yours!

I hear you, glad, Hope it gets properly sorted out.

I have some thing similar and it is very frustrating. A parcel containing 3 small items was due, I received a large, very beat up package containing 10 items, in no way resembling what I had ordered. After 2 useless long phone calls, one of which hung up on me, I had several email communications with customer support - return the parcel with the packing slips we just emailed you, don't return the parcel or it will be returned to you at your cost, get us the SKU numbers for each of the items and we will send you new packing slips, (which I did and have not yet received) - sigh!

Dd came over and helped me reseal the package - the items were loose in it, fairly heavy and very poorly packed.

Customer support had told me they had a meeting about this. I hope it was productive. In one of my emails I asked if they were going to pay me for doing their work.

Yesterday I started sneezing and freezing and now my stomach is upset. It's not serious. I am just feeling yucky. Thankfully, mint tea helps.

I didn't need this.

However, I am very thankful I don't have to deal with what glad, eb and others do. 🙏🙏🙏

I ordered a tablecloth from Williams Sonoma that was 40% off. Loved it. Shipped from Mississippi the day I ordered it, by UPS. Then shipping info showed it was still in Missssippi on the 7th, the day it was to arrive.

Got a shipping update last night that the package has arrived here, EMPTY and the packaging thrown away. What?! UPS will notify WS. Good grief.

Cwillie I have the same plan... Then I said I will take care of mom at home until her 90th birthday April 2022 (she said she dreamed she will die at 90) and then place her in a facility... But I think I will begin to get some information much sooner than next year...
I felt so strong but her fainting, the day spent at the ER have made me feel sad, scared and burntout again...

Anche do you have a plan B in the back of your mind for your mother's care?
My plan was to care for mom until she dies in her sleep or failing that suddenly took a turn for the worse and I shunted her off to the palliative room at the little hospital down the street. The nursing home was my option of last resort but when I began to feel desperately trapped every day I finally accepted it was what I needed to do.

I just feel like crying today. It seems that all I have been trying to do to feel better is useless. After the emergency on Tuesday I feel again I can't move... I will never have my life back.
This could go on forever
And if I think I may die before my mum I sometimes think that at least I will be able to rest and won't have all the responsibility on my shoulders.

Earlybird, it is a 3 season vacation home for the family. It is a modular so we could use it year round, but not much to do there in the winter! We normally open it in April or so, and close it late October. Alot of the people on the street live there year round,, but its not on a high priority for the snow removal as its off the beaten path. We do have river frontage , and a dock and overlook,, so its great for the nicer months when we can boat and fish. As it is a dead end, and most of the locals have been there forever, it is very peaceful and we know each other, and look out for each other. Places rarely sell, just get passed down to the "kids" as it were.. And most of us kids are in our 60s at this point!

We were at the river house, and the fireworks began on the night of the 3rd.. then more on the 4th.. our poor pupper was traumatized!! acted off all day yesterday too,, as did our neighbors small pup. I read more dogs are lost on 7/4 than any other day of the year. Chloe spent alot of the evenings hiding in the bathroom, could not calm her down until I took her to bed with me. Luckily we did not let her onto the deck.. and walked her before it started.

It's after 1am, and there are still a lot of big fireworks going off near me. I knew it would be like this, but still. My windows are closed, the fan is on, I have a video playing... and it's still so loud with flashes through the blinds. At least it's only once a year...?

Glad, I live very close to a large city park in Chicago. Every year there are tons of fireworks. It's common to hear them most nights of the year, and around the 4th it ramps up, and tonight... is just CRAZY. It sounds like several war zones overlapped outside my window. I get it, though. My neighbors are all into their fireworks throughout the summer, people come to put them off in the park, etc. It's just nuts tonight, far more than I remember before. Last night was a full "4th fest" with fireworks, tonight is something else. I'd be satisfied if things start to taper off around midnight but some will go until 2-3 am.

Fireworks! Went on last night, same people all night, until 11:30. And they were large, leave the ground illegal fireworks.

Now it is starting tonight. Hopefully it won't go as late as last night did.
