Earlybird, I just had a cone biopsy. I was worried like you are but it all turned out fine. It turned out to be benign. So keep the faith.

The cone biopsy was absolutely painless. They gave me a local anesthetic. I was left with some bruising for about two weeks but other than that it was fine.

So try not to worry!

Well I did not have very good news today. I am a little scared but doing ok. I had a repeat mamo and the radiologist found a cluster of calcifications left breast and I need a needle biopsy. I was told it does hurt when they pull at the tissue but will have a local.
Told family and my mom started singing and then started laughing and then we all started laughing. I think it was a coping mechanism, she did not hear correctly or she was just nervous. I told her it could possibly be breast cancer and then a very serious look on her face. She told me I would be alright. Sweet mom always positive attitude even in the most serious of circumstances. Thanks for the vent.

Update regarding the Easter Bunny. My moms culture just came back and she does have a UTI. Waiting for sensitivity results to come back. I knew somethings was off with my mom talking to the Easter Bunny. At least it was somewhat pleasant for her and not a scary ordeal.
Julie, hope your dad is ok. Keep us updated.
AliBo, thank you for your concern about my mother. Congratulations on your test results.

I saw "theracane" and thought of Aspercream, or some other topical analgesic. lol I looked it up and see it's a massage device! I'm a big fan of these devices. I have two myself, but they're different than Thera Cane, and for different areas of the body.

I got them both on Amazon; one "Cervical Neck Traction Device and Trigger Point Massager"... with no trademark name and listing says patent pending.

And, a Medcursor Neck Shoulder Massager. Just thought I'd mention them because I'm a big fan of both. They really help with my headaches and the neck-shoulder massager is electronic and I put in all over my back.

I purchased a relatively inexpensive massage chair once. It was like sitting on a phone vibrating under several pillows. lol I returned it. Too bad many of those chairs are way out of my price range. For $5k, I can get a lot of massages.

EB, I love your stories about your mom. I hope she's ok and no UTI.

Anache, you, too. I would hate seeing my mom in pain and not being able to help her. How is she?

I've had vertigo for the past 20 years, on and off. My covid changed it in a way I can't describe: different but not worse. I get a "swoon" more often, in a different position of my head, but I don't have a follow-up dizziness or nausea...it passes faster? Anyhoo, the point of the Eply maneuver is to corral the crystals back where they came from. The worst thing one can do is stop moving about, even if it makes you feel worse -- because the more you "bring on" the vertigo the sooner your equilibrium adjusts to the new normal and you can "recover". FYI I highly recommend the under-the-tongue prescription anti-emetic Ondansetron (because it doesn't cause drowsiness and works for 8 hrs). CW & 97yomom hoping you recover to your "old" selves soon!

Hello golden,
My mom is super fun. She is pleasant, good natured, easy going and great to be around. I do not know if she was pulling my leg with the Easter Bunny thing but i do not think so. She had an a office visit with her urologist today who did a urine culture just in case she might have a start of another UTI.

CW, 97yomom, I was thinking about that... the inner ear crystals that can get wonky and cause vertigo. My mother experienced that and a med pro adjusted it for her. I believe she went to an ENT doctor as well. Interesting. I hope you find relief soon, CW.

I just got off the phone with a student advisor and financial aid office. I can take a short leave of absence and start a new term/year on July 28. This is great news and I'm going to do that and use the time to improve personal health and get my housing sorted. I'm still working to get N's old room cleaned up, had some issues with paint and need to steam clean the walls. Amazing how much damage someone can do in a few months. I'll devise a better vetting process and look to sublet again. It's been a mostly good experience and it sure helps to ease financial stress at a time when I'm going to school full time.

Now to finish this schoolwork and be done with the term. I have much to do before close of day tomorrow but feeling optimistic about everything, and how I can use a break to improve my foundations and then focus again on school. It's an anti-whine. haha

97yroldmom - my sis has had the Eply manoeuvre done in the past and I do think she should do it again because her incidents of vertigo seem to be increasing, but since it remains mild she just deals with it.
As for that link - thank you, I was looking for something like that. But I think you'd have to be a gymnast to do that stuff on your own😕

golden - that's a good tip about the decongestant, I'm going to try that!

You probably know about these but here is a link on how to do the Epley and other maneuvers at home for vertigo. I had this once. Had an ENT Dr do the Epley. Never had it again.

eb - your mum souds like fun most of the time

glad - the theracane looks good!!!

cw - that turning your head causes vertigo tells me it is an inner ear problem. I had that recently. When I get it I try a decongestant and it helps. Allergies or a cold will trigger that.

Yes, I've got central air GA. I've had this before but only briefly, my sis has suffered from it on and off for years (and mom had it too, but then she had a lot of underlying health conditions). I'm upping my fluids today and other than that who knows?
I figured I'd feel better with some fresh air so I did a slow walk sticking to the shady streets. That went fine except when I had to turn my head at intersections, and I'm not sure I would have passed a field sobriety test 😂. Anyway I'm hoping it just goes away as mysteriously as it arrived.🤞

Cwillie, is this vertigo something that's occurred periodically or frequently in the past?   Do you have a/c in your home?   Have you been indulging in sweets (not a criticism, just an inquiry).

I've had vertigo periodically, but never figured out the cause.   I think it's probably the worst experience I've had; the sense of instability is frightening.

Sure hope you feel better and this stops, soon, or rather NOW!

For those cramps, pinched nerves, muscle aches, Google theracane. Love mine and does away with the need for directed "push there, harder" especially when you have no one to do it for you.😊

I do not know if this is a whine or not. My mother had been doing so well lately. UTI'S seem to be under control. This evening my mother was talking to someone on our front sun porch. My niece was with her and notice she was talking to someone. She asked who she was talking to and she said" the Easter Bunny and he is going to bring me some nice candy." I talked to her about it and she said "well I believe in the Easter Bunny. LOL. There is always something new with my mom. I never know what she is going to come up with.

Epsom salts in a bathtub help cramps because they are magnesium.
After getting up and walking the cramping out, or pulling your foot up towards knee, never pointing your toes. Owie.

If I over-exert, then I get a cramp. I take oral chelated magnesium on a regular basis, plus Vit. D.

Golden, I am going to try a Tums right now for same.

Thx gershun. don't think I could have run a bath when I had that cramp. It was up at the 8/10 level. I am so thankful that a calcium Tums deals with it pretty quickly. A hot bath is good for the soreness left after, My house is cool enough (about 22) that I am Ok with a hot bath, The leg is better today. I know it is very hot in Vancouver too. I think kitties are OK up to about 39 or so. They deal with heat better than dogs do. Mine are happily choosing to go outside into the heat.

Ali - looking back if there was any advice I could have given myself it would have been not to push myself as much as I did - emotionally, physically - whatever way. On the other hand, I have no guarantee that my life would be any different now if I had not pushed myself as much. But my guts tell me it was not a good thing. That being said you know yourself better than anyone else does and need to do what feels right to you. We are all behind you anyway.

Shimmeringsun, I just want to echo that of course you can vent away here. I think users on this site can be (maybe overly) protective of caregivers at times because of our own and others' experiences. You said you can handle things 99% of the time. I'm glad for that, and when you're dealing with that other 1%, then please come here and vent away and get some emotional support and perspective. It's helpful, I think, to take the good parts and leave the rest if it doesn't apply. Welcome. :-)

Need, I have two more days until the end of the school year. I wish I could say I was finishing strong but I'm struggling. lol I'm weary of the mental workload but I'll finish with more great grades in the books. There is a one-week break and then another term starts. I talk to my advisor tomorrow about the 4-week break option, but leaning towards just diving into things again in a week. I have too many questions about taking a leave of absence and if it's going to cause more trouble than it's worth. Thanks for asking about me.

It's brutal hot here in Vancouver. It's almost 40 celsius here today. Fortunately, we have a portable A/C otherwise I would have probably checked into a hotel this week. This weather is supposed to last all week. I'm putting ice cubes into the cats water bowl. They usually just stare at it and then dip their paws in to bat it around. They say cats sweat from their paws so it works. LOL

I wish I had some sage advice for you Golden. When I get cramps I find a hot bath helps but being it's so hot out you probably wouldn't want to do that.

Feel better!

Sun - of course you can vent here - my apologies for jumping in with suggestions. It's that I am concerned that you are getting burnt out,

Thx ali and need. Ali - I had already ordered some magnesium. We will see. Ex takes the vinegar at the time of the cramp and says it works.

need - hope you find something good to eat and a way to deal with your allergies. No fun, I know.

Anche - sorry about your mum. J hope her doctor can help. Re cramps - thanks for the laugh. I had leg cramps with pregnancy too.

I better quit while I'm ahead. I'm still a little spacey from the CFS.

Cramps... I will tell you what happened to me with my first cramp... Hope it will make you smile.
I was 30 and pregnant when I woke up one night because of this terrible pain in my leg. I could move it, didn't feel it.
So panicking I woke up my husband telling him I was paralised!
Half asleep he just told me: no you are not paralysed, it is just a cramp! Just stretch your leg.
Well that was my first cramp, I had heard people talking about them but I really didn't know how painful they are...
