Find Care & Housing
Just venting here. Left the house for a few hours today to get out with the Mrs and to drive by the coast. get some air and lunch. Apparently, everyone else had the same idea and lots of restaurants arent open yet. Nice day out and a couple of errands. Come home and as soon as the garage door goes up dad has to be doing something. I hear the toilet being plunged... Oh, that is not a good sign. It is our common toilet room off the kitchen (a horrible place to put a bathroom). So we proceed not to do anything until he is sone or not done. After about 20 minutes he goes to his living room, I go up and unplug it. Every time we go out he plugs the toilet. I give him 2 stool softeners a day oper his request. I tell him to poop then courtesy flush then do the paper. I advise him to eat better we have plenty of healthy food in the house and I cook dinner. The toilet does not plug for us so we know it is him. Every time I leave the house for more than 3 hours there is an issue. He always has to cook something when we are not here. I have asked him not to as there have been issues before.
I can't leave for the day without something happening. We are planning a vacation for 10 days and daughter is coming home as she is starting a new job the week we are away so that will be tricky and I have no other help as darling sister planned her vacation the same week....
Just tired, He is starting to repeat things so I am getting cconcerned. Have a neuro doc appt tomorrow with him will ask lots of questions. Tired and burnt out and can't do anything outside of the house. Wife's vacation this week and we are stuck at the house.

I got my second Covid vaccine two weeks ago. I had extreme pain in both my feet the third day and lasted for a week, very tired, I was watching my mom and fell asleep and good thing family was in the next room. I am so tired and was tired to begin with but this is far worse. Family member told me I was walking like a chicken. The pain was extremely excruciating. Reported to CDC. Niece had pain in both feet radiating to right leg, extreme tiredness, body aches all over, cough. Not sure if I will get another. I felt better before the vaccine.

Ali, I had the same reaction with the second dose of Moderna. I was fine Tuesday, on Wednesday I had muscle aches and joint pain. On Thursday it was better and on Friday everything was back to normal. I used Advil, applied icy hot cream to my lower back and a heating pad on top of sweat pants. Later I used an ice pack.

Did anyone else have annoying side effects from your covid vaccine? I had a Pfizer shot on Tuesday. I felt fine then and the next day. Then on Thursday my whole body felt so achy. I left work early and was in bed the rest of the day and Friday. Now on Sunday, the body ache is less but the sick tummy is still happening. I didn't expect much of any reaction and it's not terrible... just annoying. I've taken ibuprofen and Tylenol but it doesn't seem to help.

Thanks, CW. I'm sure it will work out one way or another, and eventually, just going to be a real drag along the way.

I'm trying to appreciate that it could be much worse. Since the cameras went up, there's been far less chaotic behavior from the roomie.

I received emails that both online filings were rejected due to errors and omissions. It's good to know what I need to include and can try again. I'm also not sure I'd get it right even if I kept trying. Considering whether it's time to call for legal help again. Or, at least get input from a legal aid service that can assist in filing.

As long as there isn't another crisis from the roomie, I can keep plodding along for a bit and try to sort things out on my end. And if there is a crisis, then I can document it and maybe even get police intervention. So... it's a bad situation but I don't feel like there is immediate threat. That's some relief from how I was feeling a couple weeks ago.

I filed an eviction online. I have no idea what to expect from either of these filings -- response time, timeline, or if I filled out the case information correctly or not. Probably "not," but hopefully I did well enough that someone reviewing the cases will ask for more information or point me in the right direction.

I think I've done what I can for now. Best thing I can do is put it aside and focus on school and work and trust that somehow this bad situation will be resolved.

I whine a lot lately on AC, figure I'll put them over here where they go and keep them out of other support threads. :-)

I filed for an order of protection today against my roommate who is not abiding by her 30 day Notice to Quit. Tomorrow, I'll see if I can efile a case in housing court, too. The eviction moratoriums for covid don't apply to my situation so I can at least try that route. Big PITA but I'm doing what I can to remedy the situation. It could be days, weeks, or months before there's a resolution and I will just have to carry on in the meantime.

My friend said I should call police or animal welfare about my roommate N feeding the cats table food that made them sick. N had been told they were on special diets. But the cats seem ok so I don't know what good it would do to make a fuss about it, except as evidence of her endangering the pets here. I included it in the OOP I filed today.

Just need to energy and grace to see this through, one way or another, and get N out.

golden23--Most garden flowers are not allergenic. They are beautiful because they are intended to attract pollinators, usually insects. It's the little shaggy ones (many being called "catkins") that release the pollen into to the wind that cause allergy.

I give presentations on allergenic plants, and once I had a group that wanted to meet in a botanical garden. A guide from that garden sort of "butted in" and was determined to show us all the pretty flowers, and didn't give me much of a chance to tell her we were interested in studying "ugly" flowers without my having to get downright rude. [Will this qualify as my "whine" moment?} Finally, she left so we could get on with what I had planned to do. We're usually more interested in the weeds than what is planted, except for many of the common trees and some of the grasses.

Barb, so sorry for you and your kitty. I nursed a cat I had back to health years ago. She wouldn't eat anything. Eventually I went out and bought baby food and heated it in the microwave. I spoon fed her it. You could try that.

Barb, sorry to hear about your cat. We love them as much as our human family. I hope he will be ok. It sounds like he’s had a long and loving life with you, and I hope that will be of some comfort to you.

Barb,
Do what Luckylu would do, and offer salmon to your cat.
We gave a wandering cat (so very thin) some salmon, then some cat food with salmon. She kept coming over to eat, often twice a day for several months.

Turns out, it belonged to a neighbor.

Salmon won't cure cancer, but it can be a comfort to the cat, and help anemia.

Barbbrooklyn, so sorry to hear about your cat. They are so much a part of our lives. I have 3 cats. One is a rag doll cat that follows me all around like a dog and listens to me when I’m lonesome or crying over my mother. Her face get a face full of MY tears. She’s heard everything and the best secret keeper, lol. Praying the chemo helps your fur baby. They are fur babies know matter how old they are, lol.

I'm not sure this would be considered "snow mold" as it's not actually a mold, but in mountainous areas (such as in the Rocky Mts in Wyoming), a pinkish cast (caused by algae) can develop on snow that has been sitting for a long time. I've heard it called "pink snow".

So sorry Barb. It can be a touch call. Keep us updated.

need - you would know if you were allergic to chocolate! Allergies are draining I find.

Pam - snow mold is a fungus that grows on lawns when the snow melts. Winds will dry it up and rain wash it away. There is a pink kind and a grey kind. It lasts from a week to a month. I am fortunate in that I am not allergic to any garden flowers that I have met so far. I love lilacs too.

what is snow mold? I have seasonal allergies and spring is terrible for me. I love lilacs, but they hate me and we have 5 of them ! Plus all the flowering trees are blooming! I take momentasone nasal spray year round, and Xyrtec D when needed.

Golden,

Don’t laugh but I told them not to tell me if I was allergic to chocolate! Hahaha 🤣

I have a couple of food allergies but it’s mainly other allergies. Yes, the usual stuff, dust, mold, pollen, animals, insect bites, etc.

I take Claritin, Flonase and my inhaler for my asthma.

I love my hot tea when I feel really bad. Also a hot steamy shower!

They are year round allergies. I hate it too. It zaps my energy.

need - allergies are no fun. I gather yours are not food allergies anyway. Molds are on my list and some pollens. Spring is worse for me with snow mold. Do you take antihistamines regularly? I don't know what I would do without them, though, on their own, they are not enough for some things -the food allergies and snow mold!

Golden,

When I was first married and hubby was with me 24/7, he looked at me one day and said, “Honey, you aren’t normal!”

Needless to say, he could have expressed himself with more tact! 😆 LOL

I wasn’t happy with him for saying that comment and asked him exactly what he meant!

He said, “ Well, I have never heard anyone sneeze so many times in my life and I am considering buying stock in Kleenex.”

Then he redeemed himself by saying, “I love you, please go see a doctor.”

So, I made an appointment at Tulane Med Center and they did testing. I was allergic to EVERYTHING!

I hope you feel better soon. Allergies are a pain in the butt!

I am so very sorry. Our animals are part of our family.

It’s hard to say goodbye. I am like you. I wouldn’t rush it but would never allow suffering when the time came.

Our Maine Coon cat, 13 years old (we've had him for 11 years) has been diagnosed with cancer. Due to extreme weight loss and anorexia, he has been on thyroid meds and steroids.

We were boarding him at the vet last week when his blood tests showed severe anemia. Vet did a sonogram (the one they did in February didn't show anything) and there is a mass in his belly.

I am reluctant to open him up (needle biopsy isn't possible due to position) so vet agreed to skip that step and proceed with oral chemo.

I am not a fan of prolonging the lives of our pets if the are in pain or otherwise suffering, but he is still happy and frisky. When that changes, we will make a decision.

Allergies!!!! If the kitty litter doesn't get me the snow mold will. I figured that the kitties are tracking in snow mold as they caper in and out. They are enjoying the outside so much after our long winter.

This is a "wheeze" season for me and it only affects me on the main floor. I am fine in my bedroom where they don't go much and which is now completely out of bounds for them. I took soft stuff (pillows, throw) and laundered it. Some small rugs can be laundered and the few that can't I can throw in the drier to decontaminate and give them a thorough vacuuming.. That's today's task, It is better today than yesterday so I know I am on the right track. The other thing is to wear a mask during this season -I have lots around. Ugh!

Those of you just popping antihistamine now are fortunate. I need them 365 days a year and have for years. If it's not a food allergy it's an air borne one.

Stop knocking yourself out cooking so much all the time. Make the meals and if your mother gets fussy about it tell her exactly what every parent around the world has told fussy kids since day one.

This isn't a restaurant. If you don't like it go to one.

No need to have any guilt about picking up fast food either. When you were a kid did your mother prepare delicious, nutritionally balanced three-course meals seven days a week, 365 days a year? I'm gonna guess she didn't. You don't have to either.
