Isthisrealyreal,
Are you talking about me?
I do not recall ever having any intentions of making light of your well intended advice.
"months ago cwillie and you made light of my well intended advice."
Apologies if it seemed that way, so sorry!

Since I left the trunk open after a trip to the grocery store I don't think that letting the car sit idle was the reason my battery died, but I admit I should have taken it for a long drive after discovering my senior moment, I knew better🤔

This was what I warned everyone about months ago cwillie and you made light of my well intended advice.

Maybe I am not totally ignorant after all.

To bad you blew my advice off, you could have gone and enjoyed your family.

Even though my car is 15 years old, and the newer interstate battery is one year, I start it and drive in the neighborhood once a week.
Advice online says:
"In light of the risk factors, do not allow any more than two weeks to pass without driving your car if you expect it to start again. ... Put a car cover on it to keep its temperature regulated. Fill the gas tank and the tires. Consider unhooking the negative battery cable to prevent the battery from dying."

Being an AAA member (Auto Club), they will come and start a car, as well as sell you a new battery, brought to your home.

Thanks Yoda. I was taking in groceries the other day and forgot to go back out to shut the trunk so it was left open for a few of hours, I guess that's all it took. Google told me that my "intelligent" charger won't recognize the battery once it drops below a certain charge. My BIL brought his old style charger (and also took me to see the kiddies, yay!) and after returning a few hours later we were able to switch to my charger. The car is 10 years old with the original battery so I'll have to see if it will still hold a charge.... BIL thinks it might be wise to get a new one before winter.

cwille, if your battery is that dead, then either the alternator or the starter may be dead. Did you have the other car running when you tried to jump it? There have been times when I have had to run the car and rev up the engine some before the jump would work. Once you get it started go to one of those auto stores where they will check your battery, alternator and starter for free. Extreme hot or cold weather is known for killing batteries.

Waaaha , I went to start my car and the battery is dead, it's so dead that my charger won't recognize it. And I was supposed to go to meet up with family and finally see my little great niece for the first time😭.

There is always something around this house! Our lawn guy was mowing our lawn and almost ran face first into a huge wasps nest under our beautiful shady tree . I put my mom under this tree almost everyday and we sit for hours. The kind man came back last night and sprayed the nest and stated he will come back again if it is still active. Does not want any extra money, but I am going to buy him something special. We looked all around the house for the last few weeks and could not find anything. Never thought the nest was directly behind us. HELLO!!

Sad but true.

I will be having knee replacement soon. Left knee first.
So, when I told mom her response was “well you’ll need to be better by November so you can take me to get my drivers license renewed!”

Wow!!! Really Mom!!!

CM, hear you.
I was asked if I had actually told the patient 'she was not important'. NOT what I said. I had told her to stop yelling at her student nurse, that her nurse was busy just now but would be there to help her soon. Grrr.

If she's had no sleep for 24 hours and that beep-beep vest has an alarm on it, I think poor Mebird is probably very tender-skinned - and who can blame her?

I had a puzzled call from my line manager a few weeks ago, wanting to know why I had told a client's daughter that she should "put her mother in a home." Er. That's nearly the opposite of what I said? But given that the woman (who, incidentally, commissions the kind of service that I work for, o irony) had only that week walked face-first into the discovery that her supposedly independent mother had not been able to wash or feed herself for more time than anybody can be sure of, I made allowances for everything I said to her being filtered through panic.

Jodi, sending you warm ((((hugs)))) and pain-relieving thoughts.

Left pinkie toe. Be well all.

Nice new poster, Mebird has a mom with dementia who has to wear a life vest defibrillator and it's not going well. Maybe some of you could try to give her some advice; I got off on the wrong foot with her.

Maybe it was Barb's left toe?

Yes TOE! Did I say toe too much.

But it was her TOE right?

LOL!

Hey Gershun,
It's called a toe, right?
Is that what you meant? Lol.

Owie!

Not an ear👂.
Not a nose👃.
Not a tongue👅.

But a toe. Yeah!

So while I was peacefully sleeping you lot have gone around breaking your toes & herniating your discs... "What'd ya do that for?" As my Dad would say?

Seriously, hope Barb & Xray are managing the pain better now. Tea, sympathy & big ((hugs)) 🤗🤗

Barb,
Broken toe.
Worst pain ever.
So sorry. It will get better soon.

Xrayjodi, can you request a referral to a pain management doctor? That is just insane to let you suffer until...

I hope that you can get some relief soon.

Barb, sorry to hear about your broken toe. Hope you feel better. I broke my middle toe once running and ran right smack into a post between my toes, very painful, indeed. Take your medication when needed, ice pack helped me.

Thanks Barb,
Unfortunately tylenol nor ibuprofen does anything to ease the pain. We tried Ultram first with no results. I have had to nix the Ibuprofen until after I try the steroidal epidural due to the fact that it thins your blood.
It just sucks!!😖

Not watching TV, CM. I tripped on DH's #$&!& exercise bench!

Jodi, I'm so sorry about your pain. I'm told that alternating tylenol and ibuprofen can be very effective.

Barb, you're going to have to stop watching politics on t.v. What did you kick?

I'm sorry for your toe, though, they're so sore when they're hurt! Are you able to take any pain relief, or use gels on it?

Oh Barb, broken toes suck!! No real fix except ice, elevation, buddy tape and time! Hang in there!
Since the topic of pain came up, I want to give a huge middle finger(sorry) to the narcotic addicts that have made it virtually impossible for people who are truly in pain to get narcotics!!!
My PCP gave me a small amount of Norco until I could see the neurosurgeon. The neurosurgeon won't rx narcotics unless I have surgery! He doesn't want to do surgery until I have physical therapy and a nerve conduction study even though he knows my spinal stenosis is causing pinched nerves along with the 2 herniated discs in my neck. My PCP won't give me a refill so I guess I am just supposed to suffer! This absolutely bites!!
So once again, because some people can't control themselves, the rest of us have to pay the price!!

Barb, your poor toe! I've wacked my toe a few times on the hard underside part of my bed. Don't know what it's called. But it hurts when it happens. Never broke the toe but bent it out of shape a bit.

Hope your toe feels better.💝

Raising my hand - I also wait until the last minute to write out checks for bills. Ever since my parents had passed, I developed a major case of the lazies.... will get to it later.... got to watch Dr. Phil..... any excuse in the book.

I will find on my desk a bill that needs to be paid by tomorrow. Ok, do I make the check date earlier in the month, then take the envelope and drive over it several times, and then wrinkle it up to make it look like it got caught somewhere within the post office handling machines? I usually bite the bullet and pay the late fee the following month.... sigh.

In the past, I use to pay the day it arrived in the mailbox :P

I went to our town store early this morning, and came home and placed groceries in the freezer. I misplaced my car keys and slippers. Looked everywhere, finally retraced my steps and found my slippers and car keys in the freezer. It concerned me, but then my niece brought the basins for my mother's sponge bath in her room without any water. We both laughed, and realized it might be stress. Nurse visit and had an appointment, and thought we were going to be late, but arrived on time, though.

@ Dyingdad,
If you are struggling with your sanity (especially with the pandemic), you are not alone in this. Feeling like you are crazy does not make it so. Therapy is where you should be for awhile, because some therapists offer solutions when you feel you could not box your way out of a paper bag. There is no shame in getting a little therapy. Everyone gets overwhelmed at times.

Needing to consult your ex-husband about your sanity is a red flag.
You said: "I sent videos to my ex husband who said I am sane"...

I rarely post on this thread, but ask yourself again, why were you divorced? Give your answer to your therapist.

I see only that you are struggling, and that is so understandable.
Hoping you get some help during this difficult time. 🕊

First, I'd send those tapes to the police so that they know what is going on.

Second, I would find a therapist to help you in this journey.

Third, why is your mother's opinion so important?

Fourth, do you wear your glasses for the whole day everyday?
