My "whine moment " today!!
This seems to be the only place I can totally let it all out!
The last 2 years have totally drained me!!
Lost my Dad, my dog, my good friend to an asthma attack of all things, my brother to suicide and my precious Uncle.
I have unexpectedly become responsible for my Aunt and now my mother .
Diagnosed with colon cancer 3 weeks ago. Screw up with my colonoscopy. Site of malignancy wasn't tattooed so Surgeon has no marker to go by. So I'm "prepping " again tonight for a flex sig tomorrow. I have no answers!!
My Mom is playing the quilt card because I have only gone 3 times to talk to her thru the window at her ALF while she is suffering thru quarantine. I call her twice a day every day!
My Aunts dementia is spiraling down fast and there's nothing I can do to help. She's wanting to call movers to take her and her belongings home! The saving grace is that she forgets the thought moments after it pops into her head.
To top it off, my hubby cracked "a joke" about the lack of sex!! Maybe TMI, but come on!! Really??
I know that some of you have things so much worse!!
Do you ever just want to get in your car and drive away??
My apologies for my little pity party!! But it does feel better to write it out and Hopefully let it go!!
God bless you all!!

Nikoleta987, unless you are going out and about and are exposing yourself to people who don't social distance multiple times a day you don't really need to be so obsessive about washing and sanitizing. Gloves can be a good alternative to constant hand washing in that case, just remember that the gloves are as dirty as your bare hands so don't touch your face!

My hands were very dry, raw, cracked and had some small bloody cuts. lealonnie recommended olive oil and coconut oil mixture. I put it on my hands with gloves at night and the next day was amazed my hands were completely healed. My nieces hands were raw as well and she tried it and hands were completely healed. I did the treatment once and did it again after a few days for maintenance. The treatment also has an added bonus my hands are softer.

"Bruxism is the medical term for grinding, clenching, and gnashing teeth. Some people do this unconsciously while they are work due to anxiety, frustration, anger, stress, or fear. Other people grind their teeth while they sleep. Medications, caffeine, alcohol, and certain medical disorders can increase the risk of developing bruxism."
"Mild grinding does not often require treatment; however, moderate to severe bruxism can cause damage to the teeth, jaw pain, and other problems."
"People who grind their teeth at night can often benefit from wearing a dental night guard. Night guards are made out of a laminate or acrylic material that is flexible. Once in place, the night guard acts as a cushion, distributing the pressure from grinding and clenching away from the biting surface. It also reduces friction. These benefits can help to minimize the risk of the teeth becoming damaged due to grinding and may ease symptoms of bruxism. Your dentist can help you determine if a dental night guard is right for you".
But these dental guards can be purchased over the counter.

First, gargle with warm salt water. See if a piece of meat or a nut is caught back there. It may resolve itself in 2-3 days.
Wash your hands, and lightly massage your gum while you feel around for something.

statements in "quotes" is info from the internet.

Last night I had an earache, for only about an hour.

cwillie, it could be a cavity too and you don't want an abscess, which is extremely painful Tough one, but if it was me I would call the dentist and see if you should get this checked out, if it continues to bother you. Did you have pain in the past from clenching your teeth? I clench my teeth too, but never had any pain The dentist made me a device for that purpose, but I don't use it, it hurts and makes me gag. I had an appointment for my cavity recently but was cancelled due to the pandemic, but if it bothered me I would get it checked.I would rather go to the dentist than the ER right now . My dental office is taking emergencies only and would take me if I was having pain office hours only otherwise ER.

My very fragile main lower molar is aching this morning, have I been grinding or clenching at night? And if I am how do I stop? I do not want to deal with major dental issues, especially now.

Rule 459: No garbage scraps in the sink.
Next time, run to hubs, grab him by the clean white shirt, scream, "Help Me!". Then barely clean the shirt, hang it up.

That ought to do it?

Sounds like a blood bath Gershun!

Anyone else experiencing strange accidents, or discombobulation, or just feeling s t r a n g e. I mean, like, we wouldn't feel it if we are bleeding? That sort of thing...a delayed discovery, or something?

I think it is not unusual Gershun, in this stressful time. imo.

BTW, cooking brownies took an extra 90 minutes...hubs turned down the heat....again. Imagine, he does this with boiling spaghetti water too. I am not such a good cook that I can always monitor him-he is sneaky like that. Dinner is going to be late....again.

A loofah works great for getting all kinds of substances off the body without chemicals and exfoliating at the same time. Paint especially so I would imagine it would work for polish too.

Golden your nail story is funny!

Not the same thing but a few weeks ago I was having a tizzy fit cause my DH always dumps plate scraps in the kitchen sink and then I have to dig around and scrape it all up. I was doing this and noticed that there was red all over the sink and no matter how much I rinsed it wouldn't go away. I thought it was jam from the toast we had had but soon realized I had cut myself on the sink stopper and it was my own blood that was all over the sink. It was a small cut but it bled a lot. It looked like carnage in the kitchen. The more I tried to clean it the more it spread everywhere.

Not quite the same as your nail story I guess but in retrospect it was pretty funny. We came back from our bandage run at the drugstore and it looked like there had been a knife fight in our kitchen sink.

Gershun - I am sure you look fine and probably better than many. My dd remarked how casual the newscasters are looking. She loves it - less pretentious, but then she is a hippy at heart.

My whine this afternoon is that my fingers are covered in nail glue. One gel nail came off so I attempted (and succeeded actually) a repair using a glue-on nail. I found the right size, applied glue to the nail and tried to glue it to my bare nail. It stuck to everything but my nail. I got glue of most of my fingers, but it wouldn't stick in place so I laid it on the counter. Then I got some acetone and tried to clean the glue off my fingers, gave up, washed my hands and dried them and picked up the offending nail and checked again that it was the right size, and like magic it stuck!!! Go figure. I have filed it into shape and will polish it to match the others later this evening. The excess glue will wear off pretty quickly. I am leaving well enough alone. Definitely first world problems, but little successes lift the morale.🤞

Gersun, I thought I was the only one who felt this way!! I think it's the lighting in the hair salons; seems like I look okay (pretty good, I might dare say) at home before I go in, but the harsh lighting in the salon...they should really work on that, no? Because WE know that We ARE FINE FOXES!!

I'm amused at how newscasters and the like hair looks like now. I personally wait until I look like a sheepdog before I go get my hair done. I love how it looks afterward but hate the whole process. I end up staring at my face in the mirror while I'm there and thinking I need a facelift or that I didn't wear enough makeup. Or, or or............You get the picture.

So, I just heard back from my stylist. Everyone must be masked for the entire service, and no blow drying. Well, that takes all the fun out of getting my hair done. He has offered me just a haircut if that's all I can stand with a mask in place, and I think I'm going to take him up on the offer. I'm not going to pay $250 to be miserable in the chair for 2.5 hours, and then walk out of the salon looking like a wet rat. I'll just pay for a cut, which will be probably 60-80 bucks, but will freshen up my hair for a few more months, when perhaps restrictions will be lifted and I can enjoy the entire experience? I'm not dating anyone, it's just for myself. Saving a few more hundred dollars isn't a bad thing either, although of course I'd rather have the entire service....but I just know I wouldn't enjoy being in a mask for that long. Some people can tolerate it better than others, but I didn't like it when I worked in the operating room, and that's part of the reason I quit. It is confining and feels claustrophobic. Thanks again, everyone for your input and suggestions for my first world pity party! Wishing everyone's immediate issues could be so small.

No blow drying. Wow! Is that for BC? I will have to check AB.

The "output" from salons will be interesting to say the least. Will people get done i.e. cut, colour, highlights etc and walk out towel dried??? Is this only for hand driers? What about the driers on a stand? I will do my hair at home for a while yet. It's so long that more length won't hurt.

ETA
For AB - "Blow drying hair is not recommended unless both the stylist and client wear masks. "

I was planning on wearing one anyway unless I have been vaccinated, assuming a successful vaccine has been developed.

Hmmm, my hair could grow quite long in that time...

I realize that I'm just whining and I am grateful for all that I have. I'll text my hairdresser to find out what the set-up will be, and make my decision based on the restrictions involved. Since I know you all are hanging on the edges of your seats for the answer (LOL...I truly realize this is a peanuts problem), I'll let you know what he says.

Very funny Covid outfits to create!
I do own two very nice hats Cwillie.
I was wearing a pink/black patterned bandanna as a mask, originally purchased for my dog, folded cowboy style.
Then designer mirrored sunglasses with tiny rhinestones, and a pale pink Easter hat with curled up rims. Sports socks has turquoise and pink, tennis shoes were white with pink trim.
Got a little carried away when adding the kitchen cleaning gloves
to this purposefully bizarre outfit, longer rubber gloves, hot pink.

Even though I did not get out of the car, I was ready! And it is not even halloween! Thinking that after a certain age, we can even wear purple, and dress however suits us at the time. I do not plan on dressing this bizarre again, but these are bizarre times and I believe in dressing appropriately for the times.

We are talking about hairdressers. I thought this was unusual.
An acquaintance had great hair color, in her forties. I had asked where she gets her hair done. She would not answer. So I asked, one more time awhile later. She explained that her hairdresser made her promise never to tell where she got her hair done. Because she wore bows in her hair, in a 1960's look for teenagers.

I bought the 5HTP last year to see if it would help with the winter blahs but I never finished the bottle. When I caught myself feeling more inclined to pessimism than usual I figured I'd give them another try - I'm not sure if they are doing anything 🤔

My hair is getting a bit shaggy, I've trimmed the bangs and around the ears but for now I won't try to go any farther than that. I'm way too cheap to spend big money on my hair, I resent the $25 haircut so there is no way I'd fork over more bucks to have it coloured at a salon when I can pick up a dye kit for under $10. I've helped my sister do her own hair too and I honestly think the Nice & Easy looks better than what her stylist does, but she can't seem to manage doing it by herself.

PS Send - that's what hats are for 🤣

Gershun,
Tried the htp also, but had strange, unidentifiable and unexplainable reactions for my hubs. I stopped after one dose, and also have forgotten why.

There is another supplement approved for use in Europe, and many were trying it that I knew about here in the U.S. The side effects were scary as the non-drug was leaving your body. Acute irritability. Worse than the original symptoms of any anxiety.

Washing my hair in the middle of the night, there was no time to even look myself in the mirror this morning, when awakened by very loud construction noises. Packing up the bird in a traveling cage was going well (bird scared, so we were leaving), but then I caught a glimpse in the mirror. This was the very worst bad hair day ever!
Going to try to order some good scissors online.

I've heard that hairdressers will not be blow drying hair so I imagine next time I get my hair done I'll be walking out with wet hair and styling it myself at home which doesn't bother me.

As for having to wear a mask I wouldn't mind that cause I usually hate sitting in front of a mirror for two hours anyway as I'm kind of hard on myself. Although I am claustrophobic so that could be an issue.

Feeling uncomfortable about wearing a mask - universal.
Feeling immense relief that you can at last see your hairdresser - pretty much universal, or getting that way anyway.
Taking the cost of colour treatment into account - would be universal, in a well-ordered world.
Worrying that your hairdresser might think you're cheap because you're opting for cut only instead of cut and colour to save money, when it's actually because you can't face up to three hours with a mask on your face while your highlights are done...

I think this is about as firmly in the territory of first world problems as could be.

Mind you - If you can sit out the colour treatment in a separate, well-ventilated room you can always take your mask off in the interim, can't you?

Well, my oooh La La fancy hairdresser has texted me and I finally can have an appointment on the 26th of this month, but I detest wearing a mask. I'm thinking of just asking for a cut and skip the color. My hair usually costs an insane amount ; $ 250 including a tip usually; it's an expensive treat. Do I dare ask for just a cut this time to shorten the time I need to sit there with a mask on my face? I can't imagine trying to sit for 2 1/2 hours with a mask over my mouth and nose. I usually get sweaty and hot when getting my hair done; it's a long process. My hair is long and thick; my roots aren't too bad at all, since my hair is naturally blonde and the highlights and lowlights are just different shades of blonde to jazz up my mousy blonde. Thanks for anyone reading my "whine" moment! Any suggestions are completely welcome. I'm worried my hairdresser of about six years might be upset and think i'm trying to be cheap if I just ask for a cut instead of the whole deal with highlights, lowlights, and a cut . Part of why I go to the hairdresser is as a treat; it's supposed to be enjoyable, and I do not enjoy wearing a mask at all. I would rather go a few more months and let my color/roots grow out than endure nearly three hours being masked if I don't have to; perhaps restrictions will be lifted in a few months? Sorry for the rambling; thank you for input!

CWillie,
Sometimes with anxiety, we can choke on things more easily.
This has happened to me, when a few episodes occur, mostly because I am breathing and my breath even catches.

That pill could get stuck down there, and will dissolve. Drink lots of something warm?

And feel better soon.

My hubs drinks gulps of water b e f o r e taking his supplements. And no water after. Sheesh, this man needs supervision. He has increased his 'doing everything bass ackwards' activities. In turn, my anxiety has increased. I'm just not ready to take a pill, just because he is being a pill.

Everything is going to be okay....
