My official whine moment for today is that I just used my last Kleenex :(
I’ve started jogging outside and now my allergies have gone haywire and my nose doesn’t stop running. Sorry TMI.

Kleenex and any other paper goods are almost impossible to find around here. I was able to order some of those little
packs of Kleenex you keep in your purse but they won’t be here until Thursday. I will have to use toilet paper until then. My poor nose!!!!

Got a call yesterday from nurse at memory care (locked down) that my mother's doctor had ordered an antibiotic for her and "which pharmacy did I want to use?". I said, " why is my mother getting an antibiotic? She said, "the doctor has ordered it for her UTI infection". I said that I do understand that an antibiotic is ordered for a positive urine sample, but what were the symptoms that he would order anything? She said she didn't know. I called again in the evening and the girl on the floor knew even less about the "two medicines that were ordered". I said what two? If the antibiotic is 1 what is the second one and what is it for? Eventually I call and get the complete story. About two weeks ago, my mother fell in the bathroom. They called me; she was fine. AS protocol: every time a dementia patient (who normally doesn't fall) falls, the doc orders an urine sample. They took a urine sample two weeks ago but there was a screw up at the lab and they didn't test the correct thing. And the doc was unable to determine anything. So he ordered another one(!) they then RETOOK the urine sample, sent it to the doc, he went ahead and ordered the antibiotic. For. a. fall. I should also mention that my mother has preferred her wheelchair since she broke her foot month back. She transfers herself and wheels her self around like a pro ever since she got it. The staff feels that she should use her three wheel rollator. She is 98 years old.

A local police department just announced they cited 5 people aged 23-29, for violating the shelter in place order! Seems they all got together last night and had a loud party. Neighbors complained about the noise so the police made contact via phone and these nimrods STILL kept the party going so 2 hours later the police went out and cited them!

Needhelp, I saw that announcement on a law enforcement page I follow. Santa Rosa, California lost a detective a few days ago. Florida just lost an officer too. My city just had their first firefighter test positive. And of course there are far too many health care workers who have it and have died from it!!!

Xray I agree with you. How anyone can fall for the conspiracies and believe them, is beyond me. I am pretty fed up with the people refusing to stay home. My county has shown they cannot be out in public and practice social distancing. We’ve lost access to city parks. State parks too, to an extent-if you can find somewhere to park nearby and you don’t mind a long walk in to the park, you can still go to a state park. Stores are now limited to only a few customers inside at a time. All non-essential travel is banned. And people still don’t get it! They are still traveling to the beach, to hiking spots, and congregating in large crowds. It’s gonna take longer to flatten the curve and we are gonna end up being banned from leaving our homes if these people don’t STAY HOME! And the number of people that think hiking is all done in wide open fields? They must not hike around here because no.....just no. you aren’t in a wide open space. You are on narrow trails with people coming and going in both directions and.....unless you intend to jump off the side of the mountain, oh some trails you can’t just move over when someone is passing.

I went for a jog around the neighborhood yesterday around 1pm and found it hard to social distance because of the number of people out walking & doing yard work.

WorriedinCali,
It's amazing to me also, that there are still people who think that crisis has been manufactured by the media, the Government or God knows who.
They look at the stats comparing Covid to the flu.
What they don't understand is what Covid does! It's unusual for a flu patient to have to go on a ventilator. If on a vent with the flu, it's typically for a matter of a few days. With Covid it's much longer. Sometimes 2 or 3 weeks. Patients on ventilators need constant monitoring. This ties up nurses.
The stats don't talk about medical professionals to patient ratios or the time spent on monitoring.
When our country has to resort to using refrigerated trailers as makeshift morgues, there is a huge problem!!
People wake up and take this seriously!
Stay home and stay safe! You might just save someones life !

People need to take this more seriously. In my state it’s a mixture of behavior.

Orleans parish where I live, has been very responsible, for the most part. Our governor is smart. He started tracking everyone. Good for him! Our mayor is handling this situation very well. Our governor has set up a grading system using a tracking system through our cell phones.

Orleans parish got an A- grade. Every other parish scored average to very poorly. Some as low as D- which is pathetic in my opinion.

It is so sad that the police in low scoring areas have had to enforce curfews. Sadly, our police and medical professionals are becoming infected. I hate it. We need every doctor and nurse that we can get in this crisis. We need our law enforcement and medical professionals to stay healthy and strong.

All of our parks have been closed. Our New Orleans lakefront just closed. Police are enforcing regulations here. They have to. We are a hot spot. We have to stop the spreading. Louisiana has over 12,000 cases now and over 400 deaths. Over 60 of our senior homes, IL, AL, MC and NH’s are infected and many deaths. Our morgues are full. We have had to make temporary morgues.

Our convention center is being set up for emergency overflow. Our parks will be used as quarantine areas. It’s mind boggling.

We even have regulations on the dead, the deceased must be buried or cremated within three days. So, yeah...nothing is normal and we ALL have a responsibility to do what is required of us. Everyone has to abide by laws for our own good. Please respect laws and the police who enforce these regulations. Only 10 people allowed to be at a funeral. Social distancing enforcement everywhere.

Don’t behave dangerously like the people in Baton Rouge, Louisiana (our capital) by holding church services and ignored the police because they accused our governor of denying them the right to pray. No one denied them anything! They can pray at home like the rest of us.

It is so disturbing! I have a daughter living in Baton Rouge while attending LSU. She is now completing her final year at the university online like students everywhere. She will receive her diploma in the mail.

I don’t want these fanatical church goers to infect others in Baton Rouge. Thank God that our governor instructed the police to go and arrest this pastor who felt he was above the law.

May peace be with each and every single one of you during these heartbreaking times.

A lot of people here are wearing masks and rubber gloves when out in public. But unfortunately most don’t know the first thing about cross contamination. And they think their homemade masks are protecting THEM not the other way around and......they are either leaving their gloves on and getting in to their cars & driving off while wearing their gloves or....and this has a lot of people irate right now, they are throwing their gloves and disinfecting wipes on the ground or leaving them in the shopping cart.

Also....this stupid county is....well...stupid. Little by little, individual cities are having to shut down their parks and rec trails because of the number of people congregating. Parks were left open because well...we need to get outside and get fresh air and exercise. But too many people abused that and allowed their kids to play on the play grounds. Teenagers and adults were playing basketball. Social distancing wasn’t happening. beaches were also crowded and they had to close off the parking lots to try to keep people away. And.....now that there’s really nowhere to go and nothing to do outside the house, everyone has decided to be a hiker! So the state parks were FULL of people. So much so that social distancing wasn’t possible. It got so bad that now the parking lots are closed in an attempt to discourage people from coming! But are people staying home! NO! They are going to the state, county and federal land spots, that have dirt areas close by where they can park and they are walking in to the parks. There’s federal land not far from my house & all it is, is trails. And the dirt area near the closed-off parking lot is FULL OF CARS! Someone posted a picture in the local Facebook group of about 40 cars! Another near by city has posted signs all up and down the rec trail begging people
to stay off the trail! Why? Because people are loading up the family & their bikes and driving to this city to ride on the rec trail. And it is so crowded that social distancing isn’t happening!

And yet.....this stupid county announced stricter shelter in places rules that went in to affect at midnight and the orders say we can still go hiking!

A city in the county just north of us, a popular beach city.....wrote 40 citations yesterday.....because people won’t stay away from their closed beaches!

And yet my county isn’t putting the kabosh on hiking? And they aren’t telling us to stay away from the beaches and rec trails? So yeah.....people are gonna keep going out here....

On our community NextDoor forum, I could not believe the number of people who were asking where they could find liquid hand soap. Most of the grocery stores and drug stores are out of that type of soap.

Good grief, have these people never experienced bath bar soaps? The grocery stores have a lot of those soaps, and I find those bar soaps foam up much better then the liquid hand soap.

We are using Irish Spring, and found ourselves hand washing much longer and we like the smell of the soap :)

Even if that woman had something that wasn't covid19 she shouldn't have been spreading it around the community, especially older relatives - people who have never faced serious illness are much too cavalier about things like that.

The province keeps adding new restrictions to try to keep people apart and unfortunately those of us in small towns and who have already been heeding the warning for weeks have to pay the price for those who live in crowded urban areas and still don't get it - I can't even sit at the beach in my car or walk my quiet trails because people in the golden horseshoe don't have enough sense to go back home when they see the lake shore is already at capacity.

We are a rural area, 24,000 in the county. They have said rural areas will be hit harder and later partially because of lack of resources. Yesterday, 7 cases, today 15. No deaths reported yet.

People here are not taking this at all seriously. Very conservative area. Attitudes "the government isn't going to tell me what to do"!

Story in paper yesterday about a young mom and infant. Mom has been stuffed up and sore throat for about a month. Her hubs works an essential job so she is caring for baby much of the time alone. She finally was able to obtain test after flu tests came back negative. Or maybe not a test and result based on negative flu tests. Now she is presumptive positive.

She has visited family, including older family members and now regrets she did not take this more seriously.

Curfews are being placed in some of our parishes here because not everyone is listening to the ‘stay at home’ regulations from our governor.

Some are not practicing social distancing either. People are used to socializing here but these are not normal circumstances and they need to adapt.

If it takes curfews to make people listen I am all for the curfews. It’s inconvenient but there is no excuse not to cooperate so this crisis can improve.

It’s ridiculous. Orleans parish is listening pretty well but other parishes in our state need to start taking it more seriously.

We are over 10,000 cases and almost 400 deaths and still climbing.

I have a friend who has suffered many of the injuries that you describe. I'm sorry for your pain.
Just wondering who you are caring for or is someone caring for you?
Unfortunately, this is not an IM venue.
This is a medium for people who are caring for loved ones with dementia/Alzheimer's.
No way to contact each other instantly! Are you in need of help?
Do you need someone to talk to immediately?
Sending prayers your way!
God bless!

My daughter was annoyed at the people living in her apartment complex. The community pool is just outside her apartment so she can see it when she takes her dog out for his daily walk.

Normally, there aren’t many people sitting near the pool and they were practicing social distancing by sitting far apart from each other. Well, she said since people are getting bored they started meeting in groups to chat by the pool.

She said that she wanted to scream at them to go back inside their apartments and follow the ‘stay at home’ ban but instead decided to inform management that this was happening.

I am happy to say that management responded appropriately by locking the gate entrance to the pool area. So, please do your part by reporting any activities that are inappropriate like my daughter did to cut down on spreading the coronavirus.

It has just taken me nearly two hours to renew my car insurance. Online! You have to do it through an online chat because all the service staff are working from home. And, I'm sure they're really doing their best and all that. But either they are USELESS typists or they're handling multiple calls at once or they've got their feet up and they're playing SuperMario in between posts. I kept thinking the site had timed me out, but it was just "Matthew" - not his real name, I don't suppose - going silent. Gosh that was stressful.

Plus, I resent waiting two hours for the privilege of giving them all that money.

I have bills to pay and a couple dollars short, even though I cut out a lot of things. My grandmother had called me last night and said that I am getting money coming my way she "needed" me to order her some stuff with no intention of paying me back. She has money coming her way too and she has a computer and internet connection to order her "needs". Her "needs" are some stuff with her fake nails. She can't get them done at the nail salon since they are closed. She just doesn't want to spend her own money but has no qualms on wanting to spend mine.

Didn't sleep last night waiting for aftershocks. Even though I am an ex-californian, I still have issues with earthquakes. Lol
Had to go to the small local pharmacy today to pickup a rx.
I was 2nd in line waiting outside the door. Signs all over the door about social distancing! Only one at a time allowed in. This anorexic, plastic surgery, self absorbed women walks past all of patiently waiting in line and states "I'm only here to pick up a prescription "!
