I'm tired of cooking/preparing 3 meals a day. It's just the two of us but boy oh boy can that woman eat!! She stays slimish, I get fattish. It's bad enough I do everything here much less start making her one thing and me the other. At times I feel guilty when I buy her fast food cuz of the nutritional value....not to mention I eat it too.
She lost .50 in the soda machine downstairs two years ago, so she refuses to use the soda machine.
I have a compromised immune system and I'm just so fearful of going out now. But mostly I'm simply frustrated that my mother remains self centered, even in a pandemic.
Exactly!!! Irresponsible! He is sending a terrible message to the students. How can he feel this is a wise decision? Dumb!
He has lost his mind. I could not believe it when I listened to the new this morning. How dumb and irresponsible!
I just read the article in the Washington Post about Falwell’s decision to allow students to return to Liberty University to live in the dorms after being on spring break. Ridiculous! Not very Christian or very smart to invite students not to practice social distancing.
Greeez, I am glad that my daughter is at a public university (LSU) and they were responsible by being respectful of social distancing, even before the governor placed a state wide ban in place for Louisiana.
“just tell her your phone is quarantined”! Priceless!
My mother has had aspects of her personality that bothered me for years. I am grateful though that she is not a complainer. She actually became more bearable after a stroke. That tuned down some of the eccentricities which were bothersome, including trying to publish a book at 89.
I'm experiencing an absolute miracle! 40 million people under lockdown in my state and apparently my mother is the ONLY ONE who is inconvenienced! Isn't that amazing! Her retirement home ( graduated care there etc..) was totally on the ball and instigated stringent safety procedures before they were required. Bunch of other safety rules but mainly residents are required to stay in their wee apartments though those capable are okay to go for socially safe distance walks in the lovely park right there. Meals are delivered to her door. Doctors come to her as needed. Pretty much more care and help than anywhere I can think of.
People are busting their asses to take care of residents and adjust to the situation and every day I keep hearing how 'ridiculous' it is, and how she is 'suffering', and on and on it's all about her! Never mind zillions of other people are also feeling penned up, worried about going out to get basic necessities, worried about money, etc.. etc...Never mind her own daughter won't see her partner for who knows how long, and what I wouldn't give to know food and medical help if needed would be provided in my home..really who wouldn't want that right now. Nope, no one can possibly be suffering more than her and she's gotta let me know it every. Single. Day.
I keep reminding her that millions of people are in the same boat ( and way worse ) ....and I lighten things up by saying that at least she's not shut in with a toddler, which usually gets a " hmmm, good point. " I've also started a 'book club' with her, a book should arrive in her mail soon and we will read the same book at the same time and discuss it ( if possible! ) and she likes that idea. But her Poor Me act is driving me around the bend, so THANK YOU for providing a safe venting place!!!
Seriously for ALL the workers at my mom's place ( and all healthcare workers )- I worship the ground they walk on. Sending them all the love.
Blessings to everybody...
PS Yes I do divert and even make an excuse to get off the phone as needed, but these daily check-ins are such a huge bummer
Yep, lots of reruns on television. Hoda lived here in New Orleans for awhile. She worked here and got married here. They divorced. She speaks fondly of New Orleans and visits from time to time.
I hope you do not have the virus. Take care💗.
Balance restored.
9 rolls left..😕 Now looking at the garden foliage in a new way.
we have 16 rolls which should hopefully last us 16 days. If I can’t find toilet paper by then, guess what? Everyone can go through their sock drawer and pull out the socks that are missing it’s mate!
worse case scenario....dry corn husks. You can always find those on the Hispanic foods aisle. We’ve got some left from the last time I made tamales.
These are extreme conditions and we're all running short on patients!
I will say as the wife of a Doctor, I am glad for the extreme protection measures. But no need for anyone to be rude!
As a side note, I am running low on toilet paper. I was excited to find it online, only to find out it won't arrive until May. Yes May!!
I am ready to start using cut up paper towels for # 1 and put in a trash bag. Only use TP for #2 in toilet! Sorry for the graphic comment, but this is absolutely surreal!!
Praying I don't have to resort to reusing cut up Tee shirts!! Lol
Just give me a few hours and I imagine I'll come up with something :)
Here, I am just as frustrated because of the lack of concern by some health, so called, professionals that tell someone there is no reason for them not to be at work when they have a cough and a fever with underlying health conditions. And some that second guess recommendations of the CDC.
It is the refusal to follow CDC protocol that will have this virus running rampant in this country.
You should welcome and publicly approve every precautionary measure that comes your way. I am encouraging clients to ASK us workers if we have washed our hands, for example - clients don't like to make a fuss or cause trouble, so they sit there worrying instead, and I would rather wash my hands three times over than that.
The hospital staff (all wearing masks and gloves) set up check point at the entrance and didn't let anyone walk through without asking a bunch of questions. This very s l o w talking guy looked at me suspiciously and then asked:
Q: H a v e y o u u u b e e n n o u t o f t h e c o u n t r y....
A: No!
Q: H a v e y o u u u b e e n n i n c o n t a c t w i i i t h a n y o n e ....
A: No!
Q: H a v e y o u u u . . .
A: NO NO. My daughter sprained her ankle and is in pain. I need to get her into urgent care. Can someone help please?
A nurse came up (not too close, but also with a suspicious look) and quickly asked the rest of the must-ask questions before we could go in. The receptionist refused the medical card, and wanted me to read off the numbers.
I understand because of the coronavirus they need to ask questions and take precautions when dealing with patients. But that doesn't make me feel better about being treated like we have the plague.
One thing that was good, There was almost no body in Urgent Care. We were sent to Xray, and there was only one other patient there, and then we went to Pediatric wing, we were the only ones. We were in and out of there in about 40 minutes,
Once we got home, we changed out our clothes we wore to the hospital and put them out for wash. We have to take precautions too, in case the people at the hospital have the virus. We don't. So there. Back at them.
