NeedHelpWithMom,

Yes and this applies even between spouses. My wife did this two nights ago and then she did this to her identical twin sister last night. Her sister had the same response that I did.

Yoda,

I hear you loud and clear! I hate to be put in the middle of family drama and I do exactly the same as you do. So I guess your therapist would be proud of me too! 😊

My mom would talk to me about my brothers. Then talk to them about me. Her story would change depending on who she spoke with. It’s unsettling for sure. She’s always done that. Has nothing to do with old age.

They are trying to look good to everyone. But tell them to stop fishing for information or that something is personal and that you would rather not know, they get mad. Drove me crazy too.

I’m with you. In certain circumstances it can be important to speak up but equally important to know when to keep their mouth shut. Some people don’t ever seem to acquire that skill.

I always told mom to discuss personal matters regarding them with them and not me, that I did not want to be a part of it. It was uncomfortable and annoying.

Well, my back may be hurting but we won! YES! LSU, undefeated! NATIONAL CHAMPS!!!😁🍺👍🏻🥂🍷🍾🍻 Burrows got the Heisman trophy! What a year!!! The kid that Ohio tossed aside is our gain! He showed them! Love that kid! Another no. 9, just like Drew! He’s acclimated so well to Louisiana.

It is a good thing they cancelled classes tomorrow because New Orleans will be partying tonight. Plus traffic will be crazy! Especially since Trump attended the game. Great game in our superdome! Wish I could have seen the game live but geeez tickets were in the thousands! Even student tickets were $400.

What a year for my daughter to remember for her graduation year at Louisiana State University! Geaux 🐅 Tigers!

Oh man, sitting and watching the LSU championship game. Got up a minute ago to get something to drink. Kind of tense watching the game. Hahaha

Anyway, I feel like I pulled a muscle or something. Hurts a little. Have never done that before. Any ideas? Do I put a heating pad on it? Must have made an incorrect move or something. Grrrrrr

I don't like that family thinks that they can talk to us abusively because we are "safe". I recently told one to either talk directly about their complaints to the person they need to talk to for I was not going to put with how they talked. Otherwise. I wanted them to hush.

When they talked to who they needed to, they were not abusive like when they told me their complaints.

I think my therapist will be proud of me for standing up for myself like I did.

Oh my gosh, so sad. Maybe give him some literature to read about dementia. He sounds a bit self absorbed, huh?

Freqflyer,

Cats are amazing hunters! My cat loved going after lizards. Sometimes birds. Occasionally, even dogs! LOL. I swear, she would intimidate dogs. They would run off with their tail between their legs. My neighbors started calling her an attack cat. Hahaha

Yet, she was the sweetest cuddle bug who purred up a storm. I miss her. She lived until 16. So she had a good life. I got her at 8 weeks old. She was a cutie.

My husband didn’t want me to bring her along when we married. I told him we were a package deal and could not be separated. He was a dog person who had never owned a cat and didn’t think that he liked cats. She won him over and he ended up loving my cat.

My whine moment today is that my brother, who hasn't spent any time with my Aunt (with dementia)
Doesn't understand that she won't recognize pictures of his kids!
I asked him for old pictures that he might have from our childhood with my Aunt and Uncle. He's mad at me because I have told him that she won't know his kids!
How on earth do you explain dementia to someone who hasn't spent time with someone who has dementia? Between her friends and my absentee family I am at my whits end!

My boy "Jesse" must have a subscription to the rodent of the month club. He's been with us just 4 months [he's 8 years old], and has caught 4 mice inside the house. These gifts usually arrive by a very happy delivery cat between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m. Oh how lucky I am :P There I am, paper towel in hand, in my pj's trying to catch that critter.... or known as "fast" food in the cat world.

With my other cats, who have since passed on, I would walk into the family room and feel like I had to contact CSI.

LOL Shell!! Gotta love cats right?

Growing up, my mom had a fat black & white cat named Justin who liked to being her presents-I can remember him bringing her dead mice and garden snakes. My mom is absolutely terrified of snakes and nearly had a stroke the first time he brought her a little garden snake. one year on her birthday we had family over and he came in and dropped a dead bird by her chair while we were eating dinner! Unfortunately an evil cat-hating neighbor poisoned Justin when I was 10. Justin never bothered the neighbors or went in their yards but liked to lay on the sewer cover in the middle of the street and slay under cars. Guess the neighbor didn’t like him laying under his car :(

When my daughter was a little over a year old. my cats Toby & Kayla (May they RIP) found a couple mice in the garage over a 2 week period and there were a few evenings where one of them brought a live mouse in to the kitchen and let it go so they could play with it a bit before finishing it off! Freaked me out & I had to put up the baby gate to keep the mouse contained to the kitchen & call hubby to come home from work. He had to dispatch 2 of them with a HB gun. Strangely enough, just as quickly as they started finding the mice, they stopped and there were no more mice.

my daughters cat likes to eat bugs. Unfortunately for me, he likes to play with spiders a bit before he eats them. I am petrified of spiders!!!

My sig other's cat Sam once hid a very real dead mouse under my sig other's Lazy Boy chair. I would not have found it if Sam didn't go check on his mouse to see if I took it. I seen that Sam kept looking under the lazy boy and it made me wonder what he (Sam) was looking at and there it was! Ugh!! I took the poor mouse and put it in the garbage can. Sam would not have anything to do with me for 2 days. Man can that cat hold a grudge. LOL!

I now have my brother Jay’s three cats. They like the plastics strips off milk containers. They shove them around all over the kitchen. Favorite hiding place is under the refrigerator. I roll it out and they are all there.

I recall the old fact that if you give a cat a new toy, the cat won't want the toy but the box the toy came in.

In today's world of cats, forget the box, they want the brown Kraft paper that came in the box that was use to keep the items from shifting around. The Kraft paper from the recent Chewy box we got is about 15 feet long and crumbled up. We are getting a lot of mileage out of that paper.

It's funny, the female cat is so quiet when playing with toys hidden in the paper. The male cat, well that a whole other story, he just plows into the paper, hides in the paper, sleeps in the paper, gets lost in the paper and can't find his way out. This is better than TV :)

Pam I have swept under everything on the main floor which is where they play with them. Maybe they have a secret cache somewhere. The washer and dryer are in the basement behind closed doors.. They get in there very rarely and are shooed out quickly. It really is a mystery as there are so many of them and other toys somewhere in the house. Like the 50+ spirals!!! When I get the rod out they much prefer playing with the end of that to playing with any toys I find. Go figure!

Glad and Golden, I keep a yardstick by the couch in the living room, Chloe loves to run her toys under it, because then I have to get up and retrieve it and play with her.. LOL. Have you swept your rod under the fridge, and washer and dryer? I not only find ginourmous dust bunnies, but lots of interesting other things there as well?

glad, I have a plastic rod I use to sweep under the furniture. Last time I tried - no luck. I can push my sofa etc aside as they are not that heavy. The heavy wood pieces are high enough to be able to see or sweep under them easily. Under the stove is harder, but they all can't be there can they?

Enjoy the games! 🏈🏈🏈

I bought the kitties 60 plastic spirals - to add to the dozen or so I had already bought them. I gave a few
to my dd for her cat, and tucked a few away for future use. The kitties love them as they skitter across the floors so well.

Guess how many they have to play with now?

One!!!

We lifted all the furniture the other day and found about 15, which have since disappeared again probably back under the furniture.

This is running through my mind -

Where have all the spirals gone?
Long time passing
Where have all the spirals gone?
Long time ago
Where have all the spirals gone?
Kitties have lost them every one
When will they ever learn?
When will they ever learn?

Somewhere in my house - main floor only - there are over 50 plastic spiral kitty toys, not to speak of mylar balls and fuzzy mice.

Where??? Believe me we have looked.

Someone siphoned the gas out of my husbands truck sometime overnight! I just went in to the kitchen to wash some dishes-sink & window overlook the front yard, and saw that the door to the gas tank was open and the gas cap was off. And of course the truck is in a blind spot so the cameras didn’t catch it. They didn’t catch anyone walking by the house from either direction either, except a few people walking their dogs. what kind of low life’s go around stealing other peoples gas? SMDH.

I'm tired of the Medicaid peoples telling me I haven't provided enough information. I am not paying a lawyer to MAYBE get us in a home for $4500 on "pending" status. If we "don't qualify" and --- she does --- have full social security to meet the copay, I will have to pay an additional $5600 for the 30 stay pending. I need my life back and quickly. Sleepless in Baytown, Texas ---- my whine!

Yoda,

I am so sorry this happened to your wife. I had med issues with my mom in rehab. The LPN decided to double dose my mom with her Parkinson’s meds so she wouldn’t have to make another trip back to her room.

My mom is sharp! She told her she was being given twice the amount. She asked the nurse if it would hurt her. The nurse told her no. My mom was trying to not be any trouble so she took the extra meds. I was furious about it.

I spoke to the DON and social worker. They handled it. I even called mom’s pharmacist to see if a double dose could hurt her. The pharmacist was upset. She said if the NH was doing that to mom, they were doing it to others too and to report them, which I did.

They are understaffed. No excuse for over medicating my mom but it is sad all around.

At least it was addressed. The LPN did not dispute it. She openly admitted that she gave mom two doses at once to save a later trip back to her room.

Yes, she was upset about the intruder. She doesn't feel safe here now. Like the hospital, thay have her meds and in particular her bipolar meds messed up. She has called her PC doctor to order that it is ok for her to take her own meds herself
