Cali,

Don’t trash it. Put a bag of the mint tea in with a couple black tea bags into your teapot. Quite refreshing. It will be like black tea enhanced with mint leaves.

2 whine moments today...

first, I have slept horribly the last few nights because of my husbands snoring and the dogs snoring! If it’s not one, it’s the other. Last night it was 100% the dog. All night long I was woken by the sounds of him either licking a paw or making coughing sounds. So every time he made these noises and woke me up, of course I worried something was wrong and had a hard time going back to sleep. I’m whining right now because he went back to bed around 11 this morning and when I went In to my room, there he was, sound asleep on my side of the bed and TOTALLY QUIET. Poor old dog made noises all night long and then once I get up for the day, he sleeps quietly. SMDH. And he’s totally fine today, I don’t know why he’s been making so much noise during the night but I am TIRED NOW!

Second whine moment. I just tasted the most awful tea. I can’t put in to words how horrible it was! Celestial seasonings peppermint tea. Just nasty!!

but on a happy note....10 years ago I was working in accounting and found a box of celestial seasonings “sugar cookie sleigh ride” tea in a cabinet in the little break room of the bookkeeping practice my employer had recently acquired & where I had been assigned to work a few days a week. And it was the best tea I’d ever have! With no shame, I made myself a cup every morning until it was gone. And for a few years, I searched high and low for that tea but couldn’t find it anywhere!!

Well 2 weeks ago,to my utter delight, I was grocery shopping at Safeway and found a whole display of it near the pharmacy area!!! Along with that awful peppermint tea! So I bought a few boxes and it is just as good as I remembered. I’m glad I only bought 1 box of the paper mint tea because it’s going in the trash!

My wife's twin sister is the co-exectrix with a lawyer of their mother's estate. Their mother died in February of 2018. The estate is not settled. In fact, they let one tennant of a rental house who was already behind in payments stay in the house until just this month. They should have been evicted within a month of the death and the house put on the market. From what I understand, most states have laws that set limits for settling an estate. This lawyer has had to file several extensions and is raking in big money off of that estate. My SIL does not see it.

So sorry about Daniel, Gershun

I loved my cats and dogs too. I would like another pet but the pain of losing my greyhound did me in. I don’t know if I could ever be in that position again.

My friend, Joyce that I volunteer with for Greyhound Pets of America asked me if I wanted to foster a grey but I know what would happen. I would bond with any animal that I fostered and not be able to let him go to be placed for adoption.

I hope 2020 is better for all of us!

Worried, 39 going on 25 is absolutely youthful. When I was young I looked older much to my desire. Then as I aged I was told I looked younger. Now at 63 I feel I look every bit of my years. I would almost drop dead if any guys paid me any attention while driving!

Gershun, I am so sorry to hear about Daniel.😢 This is just heart breaking. It sounds like you have gone through the ringer in the last few months! Ugh!!

I wish I had some wisdom for you or could say something that could help you, but I find myself with no words and I am sorry for that. I too have gone through something like this with my Scooter and after 1000's of dollars and many tearful nights I looked at her and asked myself, "am I doing this for her or for myself"? I let her go. It broke my heart. Sometimes we just have to let go. It really does suck! You know Daniel will let you know when he has had enough.

I will pray for you and Daniel.🙏

I am truly sorry!
Hugs!!!

Pam, I am definitely loving the Tahoe! Good luck figuring out the Alexa! I have that too but won’t even dare to use it LOL!! Everything in this thing is programmable and automatic, hubby just programmed the side mirrors to collapse when the car is parked! I have captain seats in the middle row too. I would have preferred a bench seat & to keep the third row folded down for more cargo space BUT since the kids like sitting in the very back, the captain seats are better because we don’t have to continually fold the bench seat when they get in and out of the car! And they don’t have to climb over a partially folded seat.

I do feel it is an accident magnet. I mean....I’ve had it 2 weeks so thank God I haven’t been in an accident but there have been so many near misses and I can honestly say none were my fault! Today on my way to Best Buy to make a return, I was driving down a residential street towards the back of the mall (BB is in the very back of the mall) and I was almost t-boned by a guy in a truck who was coming down a side street and wasn’t going to stop! If I hadn’t been paying attention, I would have cruised by as he pulled in to my lane and hit me! Then when I was leaving Costco, I was on the straight away towards the exit and just before Applebee’s, there’s an intersection in the parking lot and for me, there was no stop sign but for cross traffic it’s a 2 way stop and I was nearly broadsided on the passenger side by a Honda full of hoodlums who blew right through the stop sign and turned right!! Again had *I* not been paying attention, we would have crashed. Because they neither looked for oncoming traffic or stopped at the stop sign, they just coasted right through!

Thx worried, sucks says it all. Yeah it does suck!

We love our pets and I've always been of the thinking that once I take on the responsibility of having a pet I will do everything in my power to see that my pet has all it needs. We've always fed our cats the veterinary prescribed food, we've taken them in for their regular teeth cleaning, we trim their claws regularly, etc., etc. and even after all that they still get sick. Yeah..........it sucks!

I’m sorry Gershun. I’ve been there before myself and it.....it just sucks. For lack of a better word. It sucks having to acknowledge when enough is enough. I hope you do get some definitive answers. I had to go this route with my cat Toby and.....it just sucks. It’s not just financially draining, it’s emotionally draining. I would have given anything to prolong his life but I had to say enough is enough. Hard decision to make. My heart goes out to you.

So much good news on here. NOT!

I took my cat Daniel in again for his third tumor removal surgery in the last six months. They phoned after we dropped him off to say they found more lumps after examining him today. So weary of this.

Don't get me wrong. I'd give my left arm if I thought it would help him but to keep putting him and us through this is beyond ridiculous. Not to mention the money it is costing us. At some point we have to say this is enough. I know I've said this before on here but this will be it. They are taking the extra step this time to do some investigative work on his immune system to try and pinpoint the origin of these tumors but if we don't get any definitive answers we will have to just try to keep him comfortable.

I'm so fed up with this and my own dental problems which cost us a pretty penny and cost me sleepless nights.

Please be a better year 2020!

MsMadge,
When my husband had his teeth filled, he got a sinus infection within two hours. The dentist said that he never heard of that being caused by a tooth filling. (Amalgum).
Well. dH recovered, went back to the dentist two weeks later, and the same thing happened. Just FYI.

I have had seasonal allergies, sneezing, itching eyes. One season I used Flonase for about a week. The next year, another 3 days worth. Then stopped. After that time (short treatment) I have not had really bothersome allergies for two years now. I still need to keep a tube of Benadryl handy for allergic hives, mosquito bites, etc., but not as much. Allergies are irritating!

So much sadness and tragedy this Christmas! Was catching up on the news.....a mother & her 14 year old daughter killed in a tour helicopter crash in Hawaii. A young sports reporter killed in a plane crash in LA Friday morning :(

Just learned an old school mate passed away Christmas night. It is such a tragedy! She was a survivor. We went to middle & high school together. In 8th grade she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I don’t know the details but she had surgery and underwent treatment. It has lasting physical effects-she kind of limped when she walked and had trouble with her balance. I think she also started having seizures. She did miss a lot of school BUT she was able to be a cheerleader and play sports and she graduated oh time. Both of her parents worked at our high school too, I don’t remember if they were teachers (I was never in their classes if they were) but I know her dad was a sports coach and her mom was the activity director. They worked there until they retired 2 years ago. Very well known people. I don’t know what my classmate has been up to since graduation other than she did go to a 4 year college and graduate. Her drivers license had been revoked in recent years because of the seizures....and in March 2018 she was driving down the highway and lost control and rolled her car. If I recall correctly, it was believed she may have had a medical emergency-probably a surgery and that’s why she crashed. She had major injuries and they said it would be a long road to recovery. Reading between the lines, I knew she must have had brain damage or a traumatic brain injury and wouldn’t ever fully recover. She has been in various rehab facilities ever since the accident. She was in one near my house earlier this year-I saw her mother pushing her in a wheelchair one day-I recognized her mom, she still looks exactly the same 20 years later. She was moved to a different facility in the Bay Area and her parents have been by her side this whole time.......and now she passed away Christmas night :(
it’s quite a shock. I can’t stop thinking about her parents.

and now I’ve just gotten official notification that my husbands department has just had an officer involved shooting!! Thank God all our officers are ok. It’s times like this I am so grateful my husband left patrol for a boring desk job! Social media is reporting there was a chase, a motorcycle crashed in to a shed behind a house causing a fire and the suspect was trying to break in to the house and then shots fired.

Needhelp, I would love a Tesla model S! Lots of people here drive Tesla’s. I was surprised when the local shopping center that houses Target put in a bunch of Tesla charging stations in the middle of the parking lot!

Freqflyer, jeeps are great cars! I had a 2007 Jeep Cherokee that I drove from 2009 until the summer of 2016 (hubby decided, after buying his dream 2001 bmw 740, that 4 cars was too many cars for 2 people so we sold the Jeep) and loved it! It had so much cargo space! Mine wasn’t fancy, not a grand Cherokee, no leather or navigation. But it drove like a dream. I never had a single problem with it. The BMW on the other hand.....broke down on the way to Disneyland a few months after we got it. And every year something has needed fixing or replacing! So it’s currently up for sale. People probably see your old beat Jeep and don’t want to get their car near it! Perhaps they think you are some poor old miser LOL! I think people see the BMW and think it’s being driven by a field worker! It’s always covered in dirt just like a field workers car, because I drive through the fields to my kids schools all week! Field workers here tend to drive very slow, well below the speed limit which frustrates everyone else!

I was tailgated on the highway today. By a man in a Chevy truck! I was stuck behind a Honda cruising a long at the same speed as everyone in the slow lane. They finally moved over after 2-3 miles and I was able to accelerate and get the truck off my butt!
I’m staring to think men see a young woman (well I disagree I am a young woman, I am almost 40, so not old but not young, but most people think I am 25, I have a baby face I guess) in a big SUV and they have to show her “who’s the man”!

Cali,

I do like the technology in the new cars. I love the camera and use it all of the time. My kids want Teslas! Would you drive an self driving vehicle? I guess it takes getting used to but some people love them. My husband has a coworker who has one and he enjoys driving it.

worriedinCali, I also noticed the lack of cargo space in the newer SUV's, thus I will hang onto my two decades old Jeep a few more years :) I can throw a whole pile of stuff, including the kitchen sink, into that cargo space.

I also noticed how people react depending on which vehicle I am driving. We own two 25 year old Jeep Grand Cherokees. Mine looks like I just rolled off the show room floor, and for some weird reason people love to tail-gate me :P

The other Jeep looks like it's lost a fight with acorn throwing squirrels, the paint is peeling, has front end damage from when it hit a deer, and it has hooks under the front bumper and back bumper for dragging logs or whatever. And the engine rumbles. We bought it used a decade ago, and we love it. Well, no one tail-gates me in that thing !!

Tail-gating always freaks me out.

Needhelp, I’m enjoying the new car! It’s so luxurious compared to all the cars I’ve had in the past! And it rides so smooth! The only thing I dislike is the lack of cargo space. It has a third row and my kids like sitting in the very back. So I leave that seat up and it leaves about a foot of space in the trunk area! I bought groceries last Friday and the bags fit in that small space but when I opened the hatch, the bags all fell out on to the driveway.

I have to say, after driving 3 very different vehicles over the last 2 months, I’ve noticed that other drivers definitely react differently to each car! I think things were the most normal when I was driving the 2017 Honda Accord. Or maybe I just didn’t notice anything. When I started driving the 2001 BMW 7 series, I noticed other drivers seemed to react as if I was driving an old slow car. I can’t really put it in to words. I just know that other drivers definitely reacted differently than when I drove the Honda. The BMW is almost 20 years old but it’s clean, cosmetically it looks great. And it’s very powerful, it’s a very fast car. And now in the Tahoe, I don’t know what it is. Don’t know if people in sedans/coupes are intimated by it or what but I’ve had several experiences already! Today I was leaving Starbucks, which is in the parking lot of a new hotel. There’s another old hotel next to the new hotel and they share a driveway. There is parking behind both hotels. I was parked behind the new hotel and came around and was heading straight toward the driveway to leave. I saw an old Honda packed full of junkies coming from the rear of the old hotel (no doubt they had rented a room there and partied/done drugs). So they are coming towards me on my left side. I saw them before they even got close to me. I don’t know if they thought I didn’t see them or if they thought I should have yielded to them but as I passed by, they honked! I had the right of way, it’s not like I turned in front of them, I was already going straight To the drive way, they were coming from a lot on the side and had to turn In front of me & go toward the driveway. If that makes sense. All I can say is, I’m sitting up high in this thing, I can see EVERYTHING. And if a car gets too close, sensors go off. Whether it be front back or on the side. My sensors never went off. Also there is an indicator light on both side mirrors that alert me when there’s a car next to me. I think so I don’t make an unsafe lane change and hit the other car. So I know it’s not me, it’s the other drivers. I don’t know how to explain it but......the way other drivers react to you definitely depends on what kind of car you are driving. And they are definitely more aggressive now that I drive a Tahoe!
anyone else noticed this?
