I'm tired of cooking/preparing 3 meals a day. It's just the two of us but boy oh boy can that woman eat!! She stays slimish, I get fattish. It's bad enough I do everything here much less start making her one thing and me the other. At times I feel guilty when I buy her fast food cuz of the nutritional value....not to mention I eat it too.
Nacy, get the t-shirt! That’s hysterical!
Thank you for that very sweet compliment on another thread. I have not replied there because I am embarrassed by compliments😊.
My whine: I’ve got to get myself and my DH through this weekend and three different sets of out-of-town guests. Thank the Lord above no one is staying overnight. I used to be the queen of multitasking and entertaining. I’m mourning the demise of the queen.
His family doctor has no record of his knee surgery or the opthamologists recommendation after the accident, or of the recommendation for an appointment with a neurologist.
He was put on a low dose of amitriptyline by another doctor for pain and sleep, and conceivably, that could have a effect, though when he mentioned it his dr didn't flag it.
We don't know how long his BP has been so low as it was better when he left hospital, so we will be taking it daily to find out and see if we can relate it to something. It's probably better for him to go off all pills to begin with (he's not a pill taker anyway in general) and then keep a record of his BP and any pills he takes - e.g. cold FX for a cold, tylenol for headaches, amitriptyline and so on and see what happens.
I'm amazed he functions so well with such low BP. But then I had a girlfriend who as not particularly healthy, smoked, took drugs and her normal BP was 90/50. Thinking back, maybe it was the drugs???
He did take a strong herbal "immune booster" the night before as well as the amitriptyline and the dr suggested he throw those away as he got a ferocious headache that night. Personally I am very cautious about herbals . I take supplements but they are mainly things the body makes anyway, that are deficient in CFS/FM.
Anyway it's a concern.
Oh, the garbage can problem. Psue, I am so sorry that's your job now too. I hated doing it at 35 below and other temps. My driveway was sloped down and the can had wheels so I pointed it in the right direction and hung on. Not quite that easy but the wheels helped though the driveway could be slippery. I am so glad to be rid of that chore. I vote for taking the empty can to the curb and filling it. I have done that too.
Whine, if you can call it that, today is that R's physical yesterday clocked his BP and 64 over something that I don't even want to know. The dr was concerned and told him to eat more salt and use the exercycle again. He has avoided salt all his life but he obviously needs it now. I have told him he needs it but...
After the accident this summer his BP dropped even lower. His heart and lungs are fine - everything checks out so it may be something to do with his blood volume/BP regulation. He doesn't get thirsty, so he gets dehydrated but doesn't know it and has to force himself to drink, He can add salt at the table as I cook low salt normally. Also I have some electrolyte powder that he can put in his water bottle which should help.
Despite the low BP he is functioning as normal and after a late night at the dinner theatre, he is off relocating horses again and will be hauling hay today as well. Go figure. It's good for him to be active.
oh wait….that’s not a whine. Sorry - off subject. : )
As to your Whine: I wholeheartedly agree.
@Peasup
Is it possible to leave your garbage bin in the spot it gets picked up and use a cart to haul your garbage bags down to it? I've got a long driveway and the garbage can situation gets complicated because we're not allowed to leave the cans visible at the end of the driveway or in the yard.
During the growing season there will be problems but that should get us through the winter.
Thanks Nacy and cw for scooping me out of my 24 hr. pity puddle!
(24 hrs. max. wallow time is what I allow myself whenever I’m mad or sad. After that it’s ONWARD!)
This is a true whine; that driveway is steep and that trash can is heavy. And I appreciate him for all the years he has done it so I didn’t have to. But he can’t understand the steps anymore and honestly, he isn’t as strong as I am. : (
We retired out of state and am adjusting to that. Caregiving for a loved one is something you never forget no matter the changes in life afterward. I care for my husband now with his heart condition. Sending my love and prayers to all you caregivers out there, Katie22.
You'll have to oil your skeleton ala the tin man in the Wizard of Oz.
Obsolete? What's obsolete? I'm probably obsolete. lol I doubt youngsters use anything like that. No rewinding - just throw it way! Then R will come along and find it, and make something useful out of it, I'm rambling now...
nacy - wow - went through the washer and the dryer and still works That's amazing.
’Rewind’ - such a good word! But I think it’s obsolete. Does anything rewind anymore? What word do the youngsters use instead? I think my thinking processes are being affected by too much sugar….
Which leads me to my Whine - Reese’s Peanut Butter Skulls. Did you know they can actually call you from another room?
I ordered new cutting boards for the kitchen and IT arrived today. I had to laugh when I saw it. There as only one and I had ordered a set of two - and it was dinky and not the size I ordered - like 6"x10" vs 13" x 10" My current ones are 15.5" x 11" and I have been having trouble finding a set of two the same size that I like. To return it, I have to take it to the nearest store and I suspect they will not refund shipping charges, which were more than half the price - hardly worth it. May as well just have gone there and bought something I liked. Back to square one. I saw stainless steel ones advertised but they must be very hard on your knives. Apparently chefs use rubber ones.
Further correspondence regarding my grocery order total basically said yes your groceries subtotalled $xxx and we charged you $yyy so "What's your problem? Refer back to your original receipt." My problem is not the receipt but that the subtotal they had online was $yyy. When I learned arithmetic the subtotal was the figure arrived at by adding the list. The figure they quoted as a subtotal was not that, it was several $ more. Maybe there are legitimate extra charges for something. I just want to know what they are. That seems reasonable to me.
Then R brought me my coffee and said "Here's a new swimming pool for your mouse" LOL.
Incidentally that mouse has been working fine except I dropped it in the bedroom and the battery cover came off and refuses to be found. Bonus, I got the floors done, R lifted the furniture and all. I borrowed a battery cover from a similar mouse and it is doing fine. Where DO these thing go??? It's got to turn up somewhere sometime.
I knew I was in trouble when a few years ago I saw my first QR code displayed on a restaurant table instead of a menu! Rude! It takes so much away from the ‘nice dinner out’ experience for everyone to gather around a table and become hypnotized by screen-glow.
Then again, I grew up in the days when restaurants had ashtrays on the tables.
I am jealous of your cruise - you’re going to have a blast! And a wedding in Ireland sounds magical! Congratulations mom-of-the-groom! I hope your husband goes; it sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity and sharing it with him would make it extra special.
My son worked at McDonald’s part time when he was in high school . He said all fast food places , the employees get told to prioritize the drive thru . Just do that .
He said he saw customers go thru the drive thru , get their order , then park and bring the food in and sit down to eat . It was faster .
The kiosk forces you to use a credit card . That stinks .
And I just don't think it's wise to have your whole life on your phone the way so many do today, I like to build redundancies into my life so if something happens to one thing I've got a backup somewhere else.
Nacy, are you cruising on warm seas or cold seas in January? I’ve never been on a cruise. Not sure if I would enjoy it…maybe a US river cruise would be fun - I’d like to see the Mississippi……
Are your ears ringing now that all the road construction noise has stopped?
Golden, I was skimming posts to try to catch up and also thought for a minute you were talking about a real mouse!
I am mouse sensitive - since moving here mice have built a nest my behind my glove compartment, gnawed through my AC cable and chewed my windshield wiper hose in half so now it squirts wiper fluid onto my front tire. I honestly don’t know what I did to offend the fauna around here.
Way, those texts have got to break your heart. I’m sorry. Your nephew is lucky to have you.
way - that's heart breaking! It must be awful to be receiving those pleas from your sis, but you are 100% right. She needs placement. I am so sorry for both you and your nephew. There is no easy way through this illness. I'm glad nephew knows his limits and so do you. ((((hugs))))
re problems with grocery store -I got a "no reply" email that I have been assigned a new case number. The origin of the email is nothing like I have seen before. It says it is "no reply" but there is a reply link at the bottom of the email so I am gathering more info to sent to them just in case it does work and to give them a little more to go on. Wish I had am IRL calculator. I do better with those than the app on the computer. I probably should be house cleaning rather than totalling figures, but I need a little fun.
Sister is texting , begging me to come get her . I feel bad but she can’t be home alone when nephew at work , plus her sundowning is bad . Nephew was losing sleep . I’m tired of telling family members they can’t go home .
And I feel bad for my nephew , I know what it’s like in his shoes .
