I'm tired of cooking/preparing 3 meals a day. It's just the two of us but boy oh boy can that woman eat!! She stays slimish, I get fattish. It's bad enough I do everything here much less start making her one thing and me the other. At times I feel guilty when I buy her fast food cuz of the nutritional value....not to mention I eat it too.
Never fearless....but very book smart. There! I knew there was something I was good at.
Is it similar to Chinese jump rope?
Jumping rope was one of my favorite things. I loved double dutch, and hopscotch.
not an unpleasant aroma but I don't want to drink it
I can't believe I was ever capable of doing any of this stuff - I think twice before I hop too briskly off a doorstep nowadays. And roller skating! Last time I put skates on I might just as well have been a Shetland pony; but I can remember some superb cornering round the side of the chapel at my junior school.
What it was to be fearless. Ah me.
Come to think of it, what was I good at?
I like the number and logic games. When I have a moment. :)
Thanks again!
At 99 cent stores, I used to find books of sudoku which includes sudoku, loco sudoku and sumoku (which is more challenging than regular sudoku.)
I also like Futoshiki game which I downloaded to my phone. It's a logic/number game. Have you tried it? I think you will like that if you like sudoku. Right now, I am hooked on it.
Smeshque<<<<<< big nerd inside :(
Has anyone ever played with a string and a button? My Dad use to take a strong thread or thin twine, and put a button on it, you can get the button going as you stretch it back and forth. Really can't explain it, just seeing if anyone else knows what I am talking about. ? It was fun though.
Might just be poor folk toys. :)
Yes, Lucky our moms were very proud. But sometimes you have to swallow your pride I guess. Be sure to remind me of that last sentence when I'm old and infirm.
I'll probably be a pain in the butt. I hang on to my privacy like you wouldn't believe. I don't even like reapplying my lipstick in a public restroom. I'll do it in the cubicle. I can't imagine being showered and having my bum wiped. I'm just like my mom.
When Mom had to go to rehab after her hip replacement, they wanted to see if Mother could still write a check and that made her so mad that they had her do that. She said she didn't loose her mind and ofcourseshe knew how to write a check......and when she got home,a Chinese PT man came here too and Mother loved Frank Sinatra,so the man sang "My Way" in his off tune voice and it was so funny to hear him,I'll never forget.
.
people.
How about a bit of Soduko, or a crossword puzzle? If one can find a pencil with an eraser, your reading glasses, and a cheat sheet. Lol.
Yes, Gershun, those metal clackers hurt my fingers too.
I can imagine what harm seniors could get into with a yo-yo. Or how about those things called clackers? It was two heavy balls suspended by a string and you were supposed to knock them against each other till something happened. I forget what. All I remember is I used to hit myself on the wrist with the balls all the time.
Tether ball?
What about skipping rope?
Maybe Teepa Snow has covered mind improvement devices, toys, games, puzzles, etc.
When at lunch out in a restaurant, my elder loved one skips ice cubes across the table, and I skip them back. But it is me who has to get up and retrieve the lost ice cube so no one will slip on it walking by. An occupational therapist-I am NOT!
Fun. Toys for seniors, Christmas 2018.
I can, however, make ten free throw baskets in a row!
An idea for our elderly too! We could test their competence and memory by giving them things they might remember and know how to use still like a yo yo.
I never could master a yo yo, and even a hula hoop was circling to the ground.
A little paddle with a ball attached....
A punching bag.....(I have seen it done, 50+ repeats, like a pro-fighter).
Pick up sticks.
Jacks and a ball.
Shooting baskets can focus our mind.
Sure that this idea is not original.
But I did get a yo-yo in my Christmas cracker. Haven't used a yo-yo since I don't know when, though I do remember I was pretty rubbish at it even as a child. Still am.
Aw, "president's choice candycane chocolate fudge crackle"?
Googled that, computer froze-
available only in Canada?
What president?
What stores?
o m g .
Sounds delicious.
CM,
You are too too humble to say anything about an award with your name on it?
Interested if that is why it was so hard for you to go? Can we share in your achievements?
Just as well she made the effort, though, because she was called up to receive her twenty years' service award after the lunch.
I think I should probably stop feeling sorry for myself.
BTW - I understand 101%. “The Miasma” visits me, too. It’s a lousy companion, inn’it?
All I have to do is walk half a mile, stick a smile on my face, and take a mild, friendly interest in a few dozen nice people for two hours.
I am having real trouble pushing myself out of my front door.
Why's this so hard?
everytime that she tells you something she needs, just say yeah, well I need (fill in the blank.)
Don't let her get your goat. :)
And you can never go wrong with mint chocolate chip.
My whine is why me?
Not a caregiver to my neighbor, but she keeps mentioning everything she needs,
as if I am Santa.
I like to share, give people things, but when communication is not clear, it feels as if I do not have the opportunity to say "No", because she does not actually ask.
It feels like she never asks, but tries to manipulate me instead, by repeating the need many many times.
I feel challenged and frustrated to be in the presence of a possible grifter.
W h i n e. . . . .
Mint chocolate chip.
A button just popped off my jeans. Not fair! I was only *thinking* about it - !
Haagen Dazs ice cream is a bit more expensive in the market, but I think it makes one look a bit younger.
That is because plumper people look younger, often, sometimes, imo, disclaimer.
Pralines & Cream is my perennial favorite. Childhood to now.
Black Licorice. Weird-good; true to its name. (Probably gone. I remember it from the late 1970s/early 1980s. It was black! And stained your tongue & teeth green!!)
Chocolate Raspberry Truffle. So decadent.
B-R also made delicious soda floats. My teenage metabolism and I would order a LARGE CHOCOLATE. A very tall cup filled with scoops of dark chocolate ice cream. Then a generous squirt of chocolate syrup. Then the gaps were filled with plain soda water. Served with a tall skinny spoon and an extra-long straw. Loved loved loved it.
