Honestly, Bounce, I was over the line with my initial post in that thread. Sometimes there are topics on this forum that trigger me. I was already feeling really agitated, or I'd like to think I would've handled it a lot better by just avoiding that thread altogether. So it's not like the criticism was completely unfounded, though OP repeating and repeating about it made me more suspicious of their motives. I know we never truly know who's on the other side of these posts, but I found the tone so at odds with what being sexually targeted by a parent does to someone. But. This is where it's best to scroll by and not say anything. :)

I just can't understand why my moods have been so unusual lately, and why I'm doing things that are out of character for me. I take a mood stabilizer and it works well. I sometimes think these mood issues are due to HRT. I use an HRT patch to prevent panic and hot flashes at night, and it works very well for that. But my hormones feel so noticeably up and down, it's like having PMS every week. I'd love to not use HRT but when I try to stop using it I have a recurrence of sleep issues.

I'd bet there are some natural therapies out there, and I bet maybe some of you might have some ideas for me. Please PM if you'd rather share that way. But that's something else I'd like to sort out. The patch causes a lot of problems and if the sleep issues weren't so bad, I'd never deal with the side effects.

Darn it. :( I've had a rough past three months. Thanks for letting me whine about it. It helps to share here and try to get a grip on figuring out any changes I need to make. First things first: This sinus infection must go.

*And, right. That paper looming over my head... sheesh. I have it outlined but no pages written. I will launch into tomorrow with a hopefully decently clear head. Thanks.

I'm glad I checked in with you guys about my sinus infection. It was a needed reminder that I have to stop the Sudafed and Afrin and see where this infection is at outside of using those things to constantly clear up the congestion. I'm REALLY hoping that the flushing with a weak peroxide solution will help. I'll see where things are tomorrow morning and decide whether to call doc or not.

Llama, I ordered some Vick's saline spray. I've never tried it, and as often as I get sinus issues, it's always good to have another tool. So thanks for mentioning it.

Does anyone else get emotional ups and downs when you have an infection? I've been acting differently, especially in the past month. Just a lot more agitation than normal. It's like one day I'll be very anxious, and then I'm having a really hard time sleeping.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has ever noticed extreme mood swings when you have an infection of some kind. These past weeks have been strange. I'm going to bed early and hoping that I'll feel better after some rest.

Ali: Have you tried Vicks Saline? When I feel a sinus headache/possible sinusitis coming on, I use it. A miracle that I have discovered. Some of my sinus headache medication is now a little too strong for my smaller size elder self - about to turn 77 in about a month and and a half. Maybe you'll want to try it and I think you asked for advice.

Feel better Ali.

I also take Flonase, Mucinex and Claritin. I have awful sinus issues from my allergies.

Ali,
Sudafed is a decongestant . If you take decongestants too many days you can get rebound congestion , the worst congestion than ever .
I would check with your doc about any over the counters you are using and only use what he/she says , and let them know what and how long you have been using each product .

Someone in my family set Dr. appts. for my mom at ungodly hours w/o consulting me, who brings her to all her appts. My mom doesn't wake up till well past that time, and her caregiver isn't due to arrive hours later. I'll have no help getting her ready, and she needs assistance w/everything. She just got out the hospital for ongoing low BP/passing out cold. I'm not even sure I can get her there safely. She needs to see several of her specialist docs ASAP to resolve the low BP. I call to reschedule the appts. to reasonable times, and only options are several months away, as usual. B/w her and my dad, they have 10+ doc appts. every month, multiple severe health issues. I have 2 siblings, yet I'm only one handling all their health/Dr. stuff. I'm missing so much work/$$ for basic necessities, barely scraping by, in massive debt hole, pets that desperately need the vet, all while one *middle-aged* sibling who lives w/our parents does nothing to help. She screams that I'm not doing enough at every opportunity, and leaves asinine post it notes to everyone demanding things of us regarding my parents' care. Holidays will be oh so joyous at their house while my one sibling and I again do everything to make the traditional holiday meals happen for my elderly, sick parents, and I try to bite my tongue. If my heart doesn't give out before then due to stress.

Hi Way, it's interesting that Flonase and Zyrtec help you. I tried Flonase many times but it never helped me. I went to an ENT doc a year ago and was prescribed Azelastine nasal spray. I don't know how it works, exactly, but doc said it's a non-steroid. Usually, the Azelastine is enough to combat my regular sinusitis.

I've been using a bit of diphenhydramine/Benadryl and hydroxyzine. Those help some but I can only take them at night because they make you sleepy. Zyrtec might be an option for me for the daytime, so thanks for mentioning it.

I've resorted to Sudafed and Afrin to get through the day. They're not ideal meds, especially the Afrin which docs have told me not to use, but they help me function.

I'd really rather not take antibiotics but I'm sure this is an infection and not just a sinusitis flare-up.

I'm just whining. I wish I had a crystal ball that would tell me this thing would go away in a week if I just keep up the therapies... Without that, I'm ready for antibiotics because this just cannot go on.

Ali ,

I had really bad sinusitis this past August . The doctor gave me Flonase nasal spray and I take a Zyrtec tablet each day . He told me a bad case can take 2-3 months to calm down fully . It was mostly gone by two months but now the heat is on in the house so having some mild symptoms . I have added a humidifier now .

I've had an acute sinus infection for a month that's making me miserable. In addition, I had a covid exposure a few months back and I think I had a mild case. Then I got my booster and flu shot on the same day about 6 weeks ago. My sensitive body is just done with all of it, and every year it seems when seasons change here, I get a sinus infection when the indoor heat is turned on.

I'm in finals for this school term, which means I have to complete a 10-page paper by Tuesday. I've already gotten an extension, so that's good, but I still have to write the dang paper while sick.

I'm calling my PCP tomorrow to see about an appointment to get antibiotics. I just can't keep this up, plodding along not feeling good. I've been using/doing Airborne, Emergen-C, hibiscus tea, hot baths, sinus rinsing (with a wee bit of peroxide), humidifier every night, etc., but can't shake the funk. And I better shake it soon because trying to keep up full-time MS school work and keep a full-time job is already hard enough when I feel fine.

End whine. Back to work. :)

*If anyone wants to give input about dealing with sinus infections, please do. I feel like an expert at this point, though, since I get them every year, sometimes multiple times a year. My expert status doesn't keep them from being very disruptive every. single. year. :(

Ventingisback is back! Welcome. You were missed.

That getting up groggy and going to pee is a nightmare thought in these trashcan stories! I always fear I will have to go and just go. Wondering when that hits given I am now 81 and will sometime DREAM I am looking for a bathroom when I need to go. Finally will awaken and understand why I had the dream.

Body-brain stories are so fascinating and when you think about the complexities it is amazing we all do well as we do do!

Sounhappy, hope your case is proceeding in a way that keeps you hopeful. And hoping it isn't robbing the bank in costs. Ongoing problems can be so tough.

Wish all a happy holiday week upcoming, if you celebrate the bird.

My younger brother once slept walked. While my mom, sister and I were sitting in the kitchen talking he walked in and opened the cupboard under kitchen sink and peed in the garbage can. LOL

Ana, my MIL had a personality disorder. Wish I had known those two words 42 years ago. Just learned them being on this forum. I always felt she considered herself the Matriarch. Thanksgiving was spent at MILs house. Christmas Eve my Mom had her big dinner and we left to go to DHs Aunts house for a party. Christmas was spent having dinner at SILs fathers house. This one year MIL never mentioned TG so I called her. Seems friends had invited her and FIL to join them. This was a week before TG. My Mom already had a table full of people. My Uncle took pitty on me and invited me to his house. I am sure my MIL felt no guilt in that she never gave us a heads up. 8 yrs after we were married in-laws moved to Fla. She expected us to travel for Christmas, 16 hrs away, with a 12 and 4yr old. I said no. We stay home for Christmas. If she wants to visit OK, but my girls have Christmas in their own home. She wanted things her way and did not get it her way.

I can see where its so frustrating for you. Really, its very unreasonable that u get one day off and MIL feels it should be with her. Really, it wasn't fair to the kids. One thing my Dad was big on, Christmas was spent in our home. Visitors were welcome. He would come over Christmas morning to watch the kids open their presents.

Since both Dh and my parents are gone now, we just have the three of us (DD), so for the past few years we invite our neighbor from the river and Dh's cousin, and a friend over. Low key and fun that way. DD sometimes brings a friend, or we get an extra.. but we all enjoy it more with less stress.
