And Tee Higgins. He was tackled by Damar. I cannot imagine what he must be feeling! Something went totally wrong on that play.😞😞

And for anyone wondering, I am still loving this heated mattress pad! Worth every dime!

I made a Saints bandana that my granddog wore today! I love sewing for him. He has a Saints, LSU, Thanksgiving and Christmas bandana that I made for him.

He’s such a sweet dog! Siberian huskies are so beautiful. Those blue eyes of his melt my heart.

FF, my mom, the home ec teacher, would argue with you on the Chemistry part of home ec. Cooking is all about chemical reactions between ingredients. My mom's major was textiles her minor was chemistry. Her master's in guidance and counseling.

FF,

Yes! Me too. My daughters cracked up at some of the things I uncovered in my tree! My oldest daughter said, “Mom, your mom’s side of the family really got around! LOL 😆 I have relatives in India!

Makes sense, I suppose though. We are predominantly British and India was a British colony.

I tracked my husband’s family back pretty far too. Those beautiful Italian and French names!

Didn’t you love reading the beautiful names of your ancestors? Oh my gosh, gorgeous European names. I loved selecting names for my daughters.

I don’t have any sons but I had a boy’s name picked out in case we would have had a son.

My husband was adamant about not naming a child after him. He doesn’t like ‘junior’ and prefers that a child has their own name. Other people love having a child named after them. To each his own, I suppose.

NeedHelpWithMom, ah yes doing family trees are addicting. For 4-5 years every free minute I was doing research up until midnight. It was such a high for me.

I was so addicted that I was doing a family tree for anyone who was interested. It was so exciting to find all kinds of interesting items. I even found outlaws; cattle rustlers; one family where the husband, wife, and their three children and grandchildren were all Attorneys.

Even found how women were placed on the back burner when it came to employment long time ago.... one had her Master's degree in Chemistry but the only job opened to her was that of a Home Economics teacher, a good job but it didn't use her background.... yet her brother who also had a Master's degree in Chemistry became VP of Research for a large company where he used his degree.

Also saw where women who were school teachers long time ago, if they got married, they had to leave their job. That happened to my Grandmother. Oh how she missed teaching. But heaven forbid if a married pregnant women was a [gasp] school teacher !!

Oh my gosh, I watch the Twilight Zone marathon every year on New Year’s Day. I feel so old! LOL 😆

It’s fun to see the stars who were on that show when they were younger. Lots of people did guest appearances on Twilight Zone.

Love Rod Serling!

New Orleans is going to have a float in the Rose Bowl parade this year. We know a thing or two about floats! 😊

I can’t even count how many Mardi Gras parades I’ve been to in my lifetime. Mom was an excellent seamstress and made fabulous costumes for us every year. It was so much fun to design our costumes.

Last year we had a float in the Rose Bowl and won an award for it. ‘Most Outstanding’

We held our first Children’s Hospital Christmas parade this year in New Orleans. The Children’s Hospital float was awesome. It was a cute parade.

I love a parade!

Our family New Year's gathering was nullified by colds/flu. Just me, hubs and my 93-yr Mom eating all the 4 dozen fresh oysters, crab legs, and shrimp cocktail (our tradition of an all-seafood meal). Played the card game Golf. Drank dirty vodka martinis. Thought about what lay ahead in 2023 with so many LOs of advanced years... I have a feeling a lot will change this year. Sometimes I make resolutions, but for the past 4 years I have started (and ended) the new year by listening to scripture every morning through The Bible In One Year app. It brings me peace in my heart. And listening to the gentle commentary (and British accent) of Nicky Gumbel never fails to help me face whatever the day brings. It is a free app. Every year I am newly astonished at what is in the Bible. https://bibleinoneyear.org/en May the participants on this forum receive much-needed blessings and wisdom, and abundant peace in their hearts. Wishing everyone a joyful, healthy 2023!

The 134th Rose Parade and 109th Rose Bowl Game will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023. The events will occur the day after New Year's Day in keeping with the Tournament's “Never on Sunday” tradition kept since 1893, the first year the Rose Parade fell on a Sunday.

I like starting a new year. It’s fun, it reminds me of the first day of school. That was always a fun day.

I am tired of daylight savings time. I would rather not go back and forth.

cw,

So true, it does seem to always be foggy on New Year’s Eve.

Glad,

My daughter had to add a few items to her wardrobe when she lived in Colorado to stay warm. Her favorite additions were hats, wool socks and snow boots. She’s like me, if her feet are cold, she can’t warm up.

Of course, she invested in a nice jacket too. She learned to layer her clothes. She won’t be wearing the jacket as much here!

I hate bundling up. I can’t stand driving with a heavy coat on. It’s so uncomfortable.

We get a fair amount of rainfall here. I don’t know why but I despise carrying an umbrella! My husband is the opposite. He ALWAYS carries an umbrella. He has left umbrellas everywhere! LOL, In restaurants, at Mass, at work, in the library, at a movie theater, and so on.
