I want a Maine Coon cat

I want a Norwegian Forest cat. It would like this climate.

Madge - I had a bad experience with Japanese fast food in a mall too - crunched down on a cigarette butt. I went back to the stall and showed the staff there and they offered me another serving -free. I don't think so. Yuck.

Telling the media is down the line. R has a strategy in mind.

Hello Ladies,
Norwegian forest cat ????
Norwegian Elkhound ????

Norwegian roof rat?
Oh wait, that's not a good idea

I had a Siamese once upon a time. I just realized that cat did not shed much.

Glad - Not for me. I like furry cuddles. There are lots of non shedding dogs like poodles and various terriers and more. Cats - Russian Blue, Siberian Forest Cat, Burmese,
Siamese...

Glad,
I used to think I couldn't wait to retire so I could get a dog - not fair to leave one alone while I'm at work- but then I remember how much work and worry they are - still I would love a blonde or chocolate lab and name her Lucy so when I opened the door I could say, Lucy, I'm home
I amuse easily 😂

Golden,
WtH? Not sure I should have read that while eating sushi !!!!
I can imagine that happening at a fast food restaurant and I've toured bottling plants so can't fathom how this happened- how about letting your local news station know ?

Maybe a Xoloitzcuintli. Or a sphinx?

glad - not sure I will again either.Feeling better but tired from the stress. Many animals challenge us with their fur. My last cat had a beautiful coat but he shed a lot - grey/beige tabby fur. Good luck with the cleaning. I love my hardwood floors. Some cats and dogs shed much less than others. I have found that short hairs are bad for shedding. Dd has two short hair blonde dogs and I come away covered when I visit there.

I never drink the brown fizzy stuff, haven't for years. Now I know I never will again! YUCK, Golden hope you feel better soon.

Someone talk me into not putting flannel sheets on yet. Burr, down to low 40's tonight.

Cleaned up Macy fur all over my car seats today. She definitely was a very furry dog. Then decided to try to start cleaning the house of it. Started in my bedroom. OMG! Had to clean out the beater bar four times. And have to be truthful the robotic vacuum hasn't been working much.😉 The fur would clog the brush, kept it from rotating. Then add my long hair! Beige carpet just did not see it at all. UGH! Had no idea it was so bad and living by myself just never figured it was that bad. Welp. 😲 Live and learn I suppose. Maybe a short haired dog if I decide to get another. Maybe a short haired cat, or I know goldfish.

Thx sharyn - I suspect it will be OK other than the yuck factor 😝

I'm hoping testing proves nothing to worry about. Great for R, most of us would have never thought about it and Judy sent it back to the company.
(2)
Report

Thx sharyn - It was very nasty. Independent testing is R's idea. His safety background/experience is be very helpful at times.

Oh Golden!! Horrible thing to experience. Smart move on having it tested independently of the company!!
(2)
Report

Yes it was gross. I was concerned about them losing it and I told them so. That is why we want it tested independently. The CFIA has a responsibility here too and it was manufactured in Canada.

Hope you are OK following your procedures.

Golden, now that is really gross!! I'm glad you didn't send it back to the company. They would have made it disappear and do deniability and say you're trying to make personal gain with these unsubstantiated claim...

I had something really gross happen to me so if you do not like "gross" stop reading here!

Yesterday morning I took the last mouthful from a bottle of brown fizzy stuff (can't mention the name as it is under investigation) and felt something in my mouth. I spit it out into the kitchen sink and it was two cut off ends of the fingers of a latex glove and they had grainy yellow orange stuff in them, some of which I had swallowed.

I suspect the stuff was blood altered by being in such an acid environment. Soda is quite acid.

I don't think I am in any physical danger from what I swallowed, as whatever it is has been sitting in acid, but I was grossed out and nauseated much of the day and coughing in the morning as the grainy stuff stuck in my throat.

I took photos of glove tips etc and put them back in the bottle which still had some yellow stuff in it. We contacted the company responsible who told me this could not happen as there is no human contact during production. I was so mad I had to give the phone to R. They want us to send them the bottle etc. to test it. We also contacted the local health inspector who said it was out of her jurisdiction and gave me the number of the Canada Food Inspection Agency in E'ton. R will take the bottle there next week as we want it tested independent of the company's testing, I filled out an online form for the CFIA ad got a reply that they had received it.

And now we wait.

I really didn't need this!

Chronic sinus infections are the pits. I had my first sinus infection when I was 7 and have had many since.  So glad surgeries have helped others. Mine are due to allergies, so as long as I stay on antihistamines, and away from things I am allergic to I am OK these days,

I have three implants. Two involve a bridge. It is a bit of a procedure, but I have had so much dental work that I didn't find it that bad. Mine healed well and quickly.

upset - go for it! October is coming fast! So glad your sinuses are better since the procedure.

sharyn - hope you are feeling better. Sometimes an extraction is the most practical.

stacey - thinking of you and all you have been through. Hope all is going well and you get some rest soon.

It has been busy here again. R left a few hours ago and I am collapsed on the sofa. The fence is all but done. He needs another tool which he didn't have here, to finish two small places. It looks great! He is a very talented carpenter. What a relief!!! We got materials for some other jobs around the house. The lawn is good, evergreens watered for the winter, and we brought the tomatoes in and have one lovely orange one which should be ready to pick soon. The rest are still green but growing.

My eye is doing well and I can see better. I think I will ask about laser surgery for the astigmatism to be done well after I have healed from the cataract surgery. Thought, before the cataracts I saw pretty well with my glasses and I don't mind wearing glasses. We will see.

I sent off to the insurance co what I hope is the last email. It has to be close anyway.

Had a bit of a "misfortune" which I will relate in a separate post. It seems there is always something to deal with.

Hope everyone is enjoying a nice fall weekend.

Stacey, I didn't know. It is the end of a long road for you, your husband, and your FIL. Good job holding up under a heavy load. I hope your FIL is at peace now on the other side. My condolences to his wonderful son and DIL.

Stacey - May your FIL rest in peace. He was blessed with the best care imaginable during his end time. As for a vacation place, personally I love the Smoky Mountains, especially this time of year. It is beautiful and, for me, a spiritual place.

Upset, I'm glad it has helped you. Chronic sinus infections are very troublesome not to mention time lost off work. I don't get sinus infections like I use to thank goodness. Once a year is enough.

Sharyn, I worked for an ENT who did the Balloon surgery, but I had the more complicated. It was terrible at the time, but I've had no problems since I had it done in 2003. Way better than constant sinus infections.

Ms Madge, yes I too have had grafts for receding gums due to periodontal issues and was told it is from having had braces. I was told the movement of teeth from braces causes pockets around the gums and sets you up for gingivitis.

I agree with water pics I think they are great along with the sonic tooth brush and flossing. For the elderly with dementia it is very hard to get them to follow through. Unfortunately care facilities do not do oral care. My mom actually went to the facility my dad was in and personally flossed and brushed his teeth before bedtime.

Midget woke me up at 2am for a potty run and my tooth is hurting so I'm waiting for the norco to kick in. It hurts worse when getting up after laying down for a period of time.

Good night everyone!

I like water pic still although my periodontist is mixed on it as it can cause particles to go below the gum line

I tried to get mom to use a portable one a few months ago but she freaked out with it

Report

Send, I just threw away one when we were doing more moving today. Should I go and dig it out of the garbage perhaps?

I've had some of the most horrible pain in my life due to teeth and sinus infections and my poor Mom had half the teeth on one side of her mouth pulled because of jaw infections. Turned out it had nothing to do with her teeth. She was getting jaw infections due to taking Fosamax for Osteoporosis.

Want to revisit the benefits of a water pic to toughen up my gums, get teeth cleaned down into the grooves.
Anybody using that still?

Report

So sorry for anyone suffering with sinus and tooth problems-
the most miserable I've ever been was recovering from extensive gum grafts - needed I was told from having teeth pulled as a kid and wearing braces

The lack of oral care in facilities (think Cwillie's mom) just irritates me even more because of what I've been through

Mom has suffered greatly from nerve damage done by a dentist long ago trying to pull a tooth

I guess I better go brush and floss now

Upset, the surgery you had was the more extensive procedure? My mom had the newer surgery where they use a balloon.
