My cousin brought over two huge bags of fresh peaches from her tree. Wondering about a good recipe. The peaches are getting ripe with a little brown on sides. I eat about 6 a day and still lots remaining. Hate to see food go to waste. Thank you.

Hallah, I never use ‘supper’, only dinner. I also don’t use ‘fixing’, either making or preparing dinner.

Can you make any dishes that your wife used to make and they taste the same as her dishes? I miss my mom’s cooking. I prepare the same dishes but they just don’t taste like hers. 😟

I miss my wife’s cooking!!! I’ll bet she does too. Lol

At least I’m not like a friend’s husband. She said he can’t even boil water. She was in bed for three days with the flu. His idea of making meals was breakfast, lunch and dinner from McDonald’s each of the three days. She finally got up in self-defense.

Bridge, How nice to have dinner prepared for you. I guess hubby is not so great of a cook, right? Baked chicken and the rest of the meal sounds so good.Hope you enjoyed it.

Sons and DIL’s brought over dinner. Baked chicken, asparagus salad, broccoli cauliflower salad and pound cake. Nice break from husband’s cooking. I’m still not weight bearing on my ankle. Trying to avoid another surgery.

Another question: Depending on where y’all are from what do you say?

1. Do you say “fixing” supper/dinner?
2. Do you say “making” supper/dinner?
3. Do you say “preparing” supper/dinner?

I’ve said fixing supper and have said making dinner. I grew up calling the last meal of the day “supper”. When I moved to the city I was corrected for saying supper. “Here it’s called dinner.” Now days I interchange the two words.

My wife always felt there should be three items on a plate at meal time. She would prepare meat and a couple kinds of veggies.

So this evening for dinner I put three items on her plate: A pork chop, quinoa, and a fork.

Llamalover47, after you read this you’ll take the stars away! I cannot tell a lie. I cheated. The chicken and potato salad came from a local grocery store deli and the Dr Pepper baked beans in a can from Aldi’s.

Send, I do thank you for earlier saying to put Rao’s in the crock pot. I never would have looked for it let alone buy it and then enjoy it if you hadn’t first mentioned it.

I noticed I didn’t have any adverse effects with it as I do with the “lesser priced” sauce we like.

My brain was only half working when I was so excited to find a 'sensitive' spaghetti sauce formula.

Their marinara sauce is gluten-free, vegan, keto-friendly, paleo-friendly, and whole30 approved. This sauce is free of onions, garlic and lower in sodium.
Nice!

Forgot....it is the tomatoes that I am sensitive to, lol 🤣🤔🙃🙄😶🤣

I paid around $6.29 for the one jar of Rao’s I bought at WalMart. Today at Sam’s Club they had two jars of Rao’s Marinara Sauce for $7.98.

Because of the price I won’t be buying it very often. But it was gooood!

I spend 7.99-8.99 for Rao's .They have 3 sauces that dont have onions . I hate onions. lol

Who does that?
Spends $8.99 for a jar of Rao sensitive spaghetti sauce?

Mine was just delivered, lol.

I have never tried it, but it was on a list of the very best spaghetti sauces.

Showing $6.24 at walmart. It would have been wise to shop around, but I wanted the apple pie from sprouts. Ms.Madge used to tell me whenever the pies were on sale there.

Sometimes I’ll have for a meal what my wife calls “standbys”. Peanut butter sandwiches and a glass of milk. I’ll make LO something substantial but nothing sounds good to me. So the standbys. Maybe add jelly to the pb.

Other times I like crumbling up cornbread into a glass of milk. Oh yeah!!

I also recently made eggplant and it seemed to be a lasagna ... grain free version. My dad loved it! We talked about how his mom grew and cooked eggplant.
I also made a ham salad spread. It's something very Midwest and very 1950's.
I'm lucky, in that I love to cook, I inherited mom's recipes, and my dad has a great memory of food. And one highly alcoholic punch I've promised to serve at his funeral. With him, there is a story with every type of food! Needless to say, I'm not skinny.
He was moved in with me. He was "too skinny and loosing weight". Has a great body weight now. One of the few aspects where I feel adequate to the task!
I would like to hear of other senior meal and snack favorites, things that are easy for seniors to safely feed themselves, or when assistance at meals is needed.
Yes, regular conversation. Thank you. I see this a message from a while ago. But, a valuable topic!
