Momzcaretaker: Not sure if BoniChak will see this. Imho, I haven't seen a post from that person in quite some time. Anyone else agree?🤷‍♀️

BoniChak,

I like your idea of "what's for dinner". Think it helped get our minds off of our 24/7 caretaker responsibility. Thx so much!

We usually said breakfast, lunch and supper, and brunch is a late breakfast/lunch combination and not an extra meal😂. Dinner was flexible because it referred to the biggest meal of the day, so holiday dinners might be scheduled whatever time was convenient but they were still dinner!

Just curious!

Where you come from, are the three daily meals:

Breakfast, lunch and dinner?
OR
Breakfast, dinner and supper?
OR
Perhaps you know them by something else.

Momz, you just added to my shopping list! I’ll have to get some cabbage and kielbasa tomorrow. We haven’t had that in a long time.

Earlybird, I like the apple sauce as a side. That goes on my list also. For three years I made apple sauce but now I’m out.

Boy oh boy have you made my mouth water and stomach grumble!! Now I have to think of what to make for supper. Think I will cook a head of cabbage in garlic, onions, and bacon. Add a few bay leaves & caraway seeds. Then add kielbasi & some smoked sausage. While that all simmers, I will boil a few pierogies & drop them into some brown gravy. Mmmm...😊 Cold slices of watermelon for dessert! Do I have your mouths watering now?? Bon Appétit!

Made it thru surgery without problems. Have a big cast almost up to my knee. Hopefully will go home in a few days. I don’t want to be in nursing home away from my family again.

Okay, I did it, I made hallahs pb, miracle whip and lettuce sandwich.

It was pretty good. I will use a crispier lettuce next time, probably heart of romaine and not lightly toast the bread. I might even use a heartier bread, I used a sandwich loaf of wheat and it didn't add anything, which I think the bread should.

Thanks for the unique, quite satisfying and easy sandwich idea hallah.

As I was making it, I realized that pb and celery is one of my favorite meals and the lettuce replaced the celery in a way. Besides, I always have the ingredients to make this sandwich on hand, which makes it great.

Thanks for the adventure!

Bridger: Yes, recently I, too, was in the hospital (overnight stay) so I enjoyed that hospital food. Best of luck for your morning surgery.

I had to check into hospital this afternoon for pre-surgical testing. I ordered my “dinner” off the room service menu. I had a grilled pimento cheese sandwich. Hadn’t had that in years. It was good. Surgery scheduled for 6:00am.

Glad, Hallah, my Polish coworker is always making Polish food, or picking up from a deli, and brings things into work. I remember one time she brought zapiekanka. I don't remember much about it, except that she called it pizza and I liked it. :-)

Chicken Cacciatore with zucchini and mushrooms.

Anyone ever see the food layout in the movie: "Under the Tuscan Sun"?

I don't know if they eat that way every day in Italy, but wow! I was hungry enough for a variety of Italian dishes. Maybe adding sausages to the cacciatore, but dH said no thanks.

Maybe Haagen Daz for dessert, not sharing.

Need to make a hot fudge sauce from chocolate chips, easy.

I just looked up Pagache recipes and it seems it’s a potato and cheese bread, kind of like what I remember. I had not had any since that time years ago and when my LO made “Lazy Day Pierogies” I told her that seemed similar.

I apologize. I seem to be obsessed with this today and don’t mean to beat it to death.

Thanks for putting up with me!

In my question about Polish pizza, I misspelled Pagache (correct spelling), pronounced pa-gah-chee. At least that’s what I remember having had it at my buddy’s house when I was 14.
