Pork loin with carrots, onions, red wine. I put it in the Dutch oven to keep it moist. Hope it turns out yummy, still has a couple hours to go.

Comfort food for me, a big pan of veggies - carrots, celery, rutabaga, onion, green beans and peppers - roasted with some perogies and a piece of breaded cod. To go with I'm enjoying a glass of Strongbow cider that had been sitting in my fridge for much too long.

Hoping everybody is eating what they want and need to be healthy.
I ventured out to make a return to Costco, and dH bought me a hot dog.
Hot diggity dog! It has been awhile! I stayed in the car.

Bridger,

Spring is my favorite time of year! Unfortunately, it doesn’t last very long here.

We have long summers! Our spring goes by too quickly.

I’ m glad we have plenty of restaurants here. My husband went fishing and caught nothing. Glad I can make other arrangements for dinner. Bright, sunny and warm all day.

Pam,

Have you seen certain veggies at the farmers market and not know what they are? LOL 😆 I have!

So many food choices are different than in the past.

Fish that were considered ‘trash’ fish that my grandfather threw back are showing up on menus!

I still haven’t bought some of the strange looking fruit at Whole Foods!

I am not a picky eater. I do eat a variety of food but some things have surprised me. I never thought sushi would have caught on like it did.

I did something that I shouldn’t have with sushi. This was years ago when mom was living here and she was well enough to go out.

I love watching the sushi chefs and told my husband, “Let’s take mom to get sushi and sit at the sushi bar and she can see how it is made.” So, my husband and daughters say, “That’s a terrible idea. She doesn’t even eat sushi. She gets shrimp tempura.”

Did I listen to them? Nope, I insisted that it would be an interesting experience for her.

Oh my gosh, she was so grossed out that she didn’t eat! I should have listened. I can be hard headed at times. 😊

It’s so great that this post is from 7 years ago and still going strong! :)

Mom made her famous homemade potatoes au gratin (yummmmm) and I fried up some koegel viennas . Of course dad hated it... he hates everything that he used to love :(

Ali,

That works!

I make a very simple garlic and olive oil angel hair or vermicelli pasta dish sometimes.

I definitely don’t have to have meat at every single meal. I am the person that loves all of the side dishes at holiday dinners!

Everyone's food on here always sounds so good. I was wondering what to make tonight and I've wanted to indulge in takeout lately and just eat my stress away but really I should save the money for now, due to cutting back hours at work and having unforeseen extra expenses. Making great meals at home can help.

I took some pork loin out of the freezer but I don't want to make it tonight. I was feeling like pasta, but I don't have any red sauce.

And then I saw how much fresh garlic I have and now I'm roasting 10 heads in the oven. lol It may seem like a lot but I'll eat them all over several days with every kind of food, or even by themselves. They're so good. So I figure I'll put them with some with angel hair pasta and a can of diced, seasoned tomatoes. Hardly a complex meal but I'm looking forward to it!

Mom ate a small bowl of gumbo that I brought her.

I am too tired to eat. Just having a cup of tea.

I hope I didn’t wear mom out. She tires so easily. Only two people can visit at the time due to Covid so I have been having people FaceTime with mom.

She got to talk to my godson (her grandson, my nephew) and my great niece (her great granddaughter) plus, my cousin and another nephew and niece.

She was smiling so I guess she was okay. Her hearing is so bad that I have to put my phone on speaker.

This isn’t about dinner but close enough.

Coffee is as essential for me as food. 🤣 Okay, I confess that I am a coffee lover!

So, I had an interesting conversation with my daughter in Denver a short while ago.

She is a credit analyst. She was telling me that she is looking over a loan application for a start up company that has an interesting business plan.

It’s a plan for a ‘drive through’ coffee place that will be totally automated.

Just like there are robot bartenders out there making drinks for people. This company will be serving the commuter with coffee made completely by robots!

An engineer came up with the idea initially because of Covid but also realized that the concept would apply at anytime.

They are planning to serve coffee, tea and a variety of juices aimed primarily for commuters on the road, such as working people, students on the way to school, moms with kids in the car, etc.

No food service, only beverages. It certainly is feasible to do.

We hear about a loss of jobs for people due to automation. I suppose that this is one more step in that direction.

I think about the self service lines in the groceries where we serve as our own cashiers.

It is interesting to see how technology changes how everyday business is done.

So, I do have to tell you that the people at my local coffee shop know me well.

Oh my gosh, I don’t even have to state my order anymore.

The guy at my local haunt automatically places my order.

My husband giggled when I told him that I missed going a couple of days and he asked me if I had been sick.

Hahaha! Okay, okay, I know that I am a caffeine junkie. I love my coffee.
