Spaghetti, freshly-baked bread (which is rising right now), salad, homemade meatballs (beef or turkey) as a side for those who want them. Red wine seems like a good idea as well. (I do have to confess that the bread is not truly homemade. It's frozen dough that needs to rise all day and I bake it right before eating).

Bridger,

This baby is going to be so loved 😊.

Childhood development is fascinating and so much fun to see!

I’ve not been around babies since my sons. I’ve taken care of parents and grandparents. The baby is way easier and more fun. Of course there are five adults and one tiny baby.

Gumbo leftovers. It tastes even better than the first time around. And added tabasco. Must start exploring other hot sauces on the store shelf.

I just bought a package of Extra Meaty Pork Baby Backs. My husband loves them because they are fall-off-the bone tender in the instant pot. I've used an apple juice/water mixture to cook them in along with Famous Dave's seasoning.

After I take them out very carefully, I place them on my broiler pan and put Famous Dave's Rich and Sassy BBQ sauce on them and serve them with extra warmed up sauce. They will be opening some restaurants in Louisiana within the next 2-3 years which is where I used to buy their seasoning and sauce but, now I can get it at the store.

I bet it would be good with the spinach and artichoke dip you mentioned below with maybe some cubed Italian or French bread!

NGI,

I want to try ribs! What kind do you make? Baby back, spare ribs, short ribs?

Alva, that sounds so yummy! I love those flavors.

I do spinach lasagna. I love spinach and artichoke dip.

I never thought of combining those ingredients with pasta for an entree. What type of pasta did you use? Sounds fantastic!

Glad to hear you keep trying to work with your new instant pot.

My mom used to make stuffed peppers - I'm going to check out that recipe and maybe use red peppers instead of the usual green.

I still like making ribs in mine!

Yay! I found a winning recipe for my new instant pot.

Delicious stuffed peppers! Very easy. Will make again. Recipe is from, dadcooksdinner.com

On the hunt for other recipes. People seem to rave about cheesecake cooked in the instant pot.

If you have an instant pot recipe that you love, please share! Or attach where we can find online.

It’s trial and error finding what works. Or should I say that there is a learning curve in operating this appliance.

The peppers were only the third thing I did.

First I did a chicken tortilla soup in it. Eh, it was good but nothing to rave about.

Next I did a sirloin tip roast. I liked it but my roast baked in the oven is so much better. Need to experiment with roast further.

Today I did the peppers and they came out perfect! Loved them. There was no sacrifice in flavor when compared to my oven baked peppers.

Prayer
Q. "Does your family say a prayer before you eat your food?" asked the 5th grader.
A. "Non. We are French. We know how to cook".

I wish your dad was there to share in the joy with all of you too. I remember when you first found out and your dad and husband were going to spoil the new baby.

I'm thankful that your dad had the opportunity to be with your brother and granddaughter one last time after nearly 50 years (if I recall correctly).

The ending of one life and the beginning of another - it's really too much to take in and the emotions are probably all over the place.

The new parents and baby arrived here at 9:45. He’s so tiny. My sons were both big babies close to 10 lbs.

We have a full house. My brother and niece are here, my younger son is here, plus other son, wife and baby. Not our usual quiet. I’m sad dad’s not here to share this happy event.

Wow, that is amazing that your grandson was born on the same day as your dad's funeral!!!

How sad he missed seeing his great grandson or did he????

Congratulations - what a bittersweet day!

Dad’s funeral was this morning. It was in the high school auditorium so everyone could attend and social distance. Nice lunch at the church. Now for the BIG news. My DIL went into early labor. Baby was born at 3:00. She was 5 weeks early. Boy who weighed 5 lbs 6 oz. Mom and baby both healthy. Because of Covid they will be home this evening. They’re coming here so that we can help. I’ve had a room ready for him for the last month. They were waiting to move into their new home to fix a nursery.
